Fruity Limiter also has RMS compression. The sustain knob controls the window, so any sustain value above 0 is RMS. Linear phase mode in maximus also won't deal with intersample peaks. The reason why you get lower peaks with linear phase filters is because you are preserving the phase relationship with the band splits
Good one with the Limiter Compressor Sustain, I realized that after recording. Inter-sample peaking isn't something we can fight, but only with the linear phase we can just make sure that the ceiling we set in the saturation is actually keeping the true peak. That's what I meant.
Wow, I was always afraid of Maximus and instead used the normal limiter/compressor which is easier to understand. From this video I will start to use it to compress vocals and many other parts. For mastering I still prefer my Ozone stuff, but this video opened my mind about Maximus, thanks for your work :)
When he drags the threshold dot to the bottom left, what is the difference if he just dragged it straight down? I always been dragging it straight down but this guy is dragging it bottom left
I highly recommended this courses, I bought 3 and if u want to learn and invest in your self - just do it - buy it - study - study - work work work. It works :) peace FL TIPS crew. Thank you.
@16:42 hey Max, i think you are wrong about intersample peaks and linear phase . Linear phase processing is about no phase change due to filters. And intersample peaks is due to oversampling causing extra peaks due oversampling then downsampling internally by the plugin for minimizing the aliasing
I addressed that already somewhere, with linear phase we can make sure that the ceiling we set in the saturation is actually keeping the true peak - so Linear Phase ON = no inter-sample peaking
Actually I've been using only Maximus on my master chain for years...Just been supporting it with some stereo separation plugin and boom!!!..Never been using any other third party plugins for my mastering!
when I’ve heard just your robot sounding voice(no offens😆), the tutorials was still the beat but kinda boring but now when you talk to the camera and I can see you the tutorials are much more personal and likeable😂Thanks a lot for your work and what you do for people that like to make and produce music!❤
After frustratingly trying to figure out what was wrong with my song for the past few days, I finally found out that it lacked low and high frequency...
I can't find out the difference between the two saturation types. Even the official manual just says "left is type A. Right is type B" but doesn't say what the difference is. I searched Google with multiple advanced searches and can't find anybody else even asking the question on any forum
Can I get a clarification on the part @ 16:41 , what do you mean the Linear Phase button won't allow "inter sample"(?) peaks past the ceiling? I've never heard of this "inter-sample" term before, and why the vague wording on "the ceiling you set--for example, here." Why specifically did you say "for example" as if to imply that there is also a different way for it to interact with a different parameter?
Every time you go above 0 (0dBFS) on the Maximus graph, you are Expanding. I don't understand how the middle point is at 0dBFS and you can't zoom. And that it only shows up to -18dBFS, there is a lot of information to work with. Maximus is not very good for learning how to use a compressor, better start with MCompressor from MeldaProduction, at least with the parametric part and with the manual edition of the curve, it's funny that you say that Maximus is very precise...
When you upload an audio file, is it possible to invert it for beat ducking for vocals? Thinking about it would it be only a small section of the audio uploaded? 5:52
Lol. These are all the things that I learned to do correctly but, never actually figured out what tf was happening….for reference. I’m like 9 years into fl. My thought process was “smooth= smooth. Sharp is sharp. Rms is smooth. I don’t 100% love how none of these mb comps have an auto gain match for each band. Like, I find that you can compress the highs almost in a ny fashion. Just aggressive. Cuz, it’s harder to screw up phase the higher you go. But, that being said, it’s easier to kinda screw up transients the higher you go. Cuz, with lower bands, it’s more “wub” and less “tin”. If you sharpen the transients on a low end, it usually just adds a mid frequency thing. And so on. It’s weird. So my strat has been to export the track, with the sidechain on. And the drums, sub and instruments separate. And to like master with these all actually detached. If there’s vocals, I’ll export those separately as well. Pretty much ozone, master rebalance but, it’s way better. This way, you can really slam the highs down, and than (if you still have your midi information and automation set in the track) you can rout back in the sidechains and really keep the drums sounding punchy, without having to saturate the ass out of them before the final compression. Oh yeah. This also is nice because you can see with the sidechain info, exactly how loud your drums need to be in order to fill the gaps. And , you can use your instrument’s bass information, the separated sub, and the drums to analyze where masking is required. Usually for me, I’ll re make the sub sidechain after checking the duration of the compressed drum’s sun range, or use patchers “multiband sidechain” to really make sure there is no sub phasing. I this way, you can pretty much analyze every element block and make sure nothing is being perceived differently when mastering…..which should be the goal. Because, I suck ass at mastering. But, I’m dece at mixing. So usually I can get to like -4.8 lufs with a limiter and a gain knob. But, it’s basically because I’m using gain and eq masking to compress the track to begin with. Which really has me wondering if that’s always necessary or if, I should just really learn how to use an mb comp properly, and maybe chill out on masking. Cuz if I could do this and have the track sound the same, that would be easier once I actually got past the “is this too much” phase.
I like more heavier sounds like riddim and tearout but I’m trash at mixing to glue all the sounds together to make it strong, listenable, and not muddy in the low ends. I just want to know why when I hear the sounds through my headset they sound how I want them, but when I do the car test…. It’s sadly shit :/ how do I get the mix capable for all platforms to sound good on?
Forgot to add I understand eq the low end out to reduce muddy frequencies but I don’t know when I SHOULD compress or when to use certain plugins to help make the sounds listenable
You should listen to the tracks you want your stuff to sound like on your headset, then try to match your mix to that one. Anything can sound good on 1 system while being trash on the rest. Referencing high quality work you want to emulate will help train your ears to know what 's good"
But bro please be honest, is this Maximus an indeed reliable Tool to master a professional music that can go global out there and compete with these mega hits songs we hear on air, Or is just a 2nd alternative for FL users only who can not afford pro plugins? Just asking though, because all the pros Like "Stargate" etc that I watched their tutorials, breaking down how they produced their Hit songs, never seen anyone using any FL plugin or Maximus for Mastering before. Really asking to be sure deep down that I am not on the inferior DAW and Plugins
Please compress your voice, you have to much attack in pressure with articulating words...... Put the treshold down and 'release the attack'... Seriously I tried to listen and I`m tired of listeinig... slow down relax... do not push hard...use compressor..
UA-cam Algorithm is tough these days... - Scroll up *Hit a Like* to pump it up!
Iwanna rap over that beat ...OMG!

can maximus do better multiband compression? in mastering
probably the most special and legit useful stock FL plugin
I have been looking for a comprehensive MAXIMUS tutorial for years... THANK THE GODS
Maximus is the best. I learned that I didn't need to buy a mastering plugin once I learned how to use it correctly
When he drags the threshold dot to the bottom left, what is the difference if he just dragged it straight down? I always been dragging it straight down but this guy is dragging it bottom left

Thank you MAX ❤
Best channel for FL I found👌no needless blabla and really helpful. Thank you❤
i am using Maximus for more than a decade... always thought this plugin is massivley underrated... its a really usefull tool

I can understand your tutorial better, your teaching is so good.
Greetings from Mexico! I bought the mixing and master's courses, and I love them!
YOU'RE THE BEST MAX! THANK YOU ♠
Nice tip on boosting the levels with the pre-gain to be able to see clearly when the waveform is too low in volume
Fun fact, you can get Maximus as a stand alone plugin for other daws. It’s hard to do because it’s discontinued but it can definitely happen hehe
That parellel compression you just told me is the sound I've been looking for for months

Good but confusing for beginners
"You sound kind of stupid" 🎶🎶
OOOhh so thats how you look lol
this guy looks like mr beast

Man, this looks so confusing and intimidating. 😬
You are not teaching shortcut.
I would like to ask, why some producers are not recommending putting fruity limiter to master?
