I like how detailed this review is. It touches on plenty of topics that are quite relevant to the questions that people have and then some. The answers are detailed and concise, really helping the video to be informative. I especially liked the suspension adjustment segment, and the discussion around the spoked alloys. Keep it up dude!
I own a Svartpilen 401, I don't think the headlight is a con, it's one of the best in the industry. Far better than those of Honda's 350cc bikes, RE bikes. I have issue with the lights during cornering though.
I can understand from your perspective however he also owns a dominar 400 which has an above average headlights which might have shaped his opinion he has mentioned that as well.
I would agree that it has a better headlight than many other bikes, but my point was that it's still not sufficient for doing reasonable speeds in the dark, or on badly lit roads. Even the Dominar which has a significantly better headlight still benefits a lot from having aux lights. It would be nice if manufacturers put more effort into creating better stock headlights so that aux lights aren't such a necessity for enthusiastic riders. And I think we can all agree that most bikes in the market with worse headlights than the 401 are not even meeting the bare minimum.
Insightful series. Always prefer these kind of videos over reviews from media houses None of the big reviewers/media houses own the bike, they don't go easy on them (wheelie/drag races etc for cool cinematics), plus they spend very little amount of time experiencing the bike and most of the time is spent blabbering specs and comparing with competition. These ownership review type of video help provide us insights on experience and opinions formed over a long time, long enough for one to notice minor intricate details about what actually matters as a rider. The point about lack of good mounting point for aux lights is one such thing.
Exactly! I experienced this issue while getting my bike! Very few ownership review videos are there and media houses has stopped doing it totally! Thankyou for your feedback!!
I own a 2024 Svartpilen 401 too. I bought it in April as well. After a long ride of say 500-600 kms in a day, my engine oil level drops quite a bit below the minimum mark (when upright, and the engine is warmed up, as specific in the Manual). I am not sure if this is a specific issue with my bike alone, or with the model. This was a very nice review overall. I found myself agreeing with everything that was said, except for the trail riding bits, since I haven't changed the tyres/taken the bike off tarmac. Would really help to know if any one else has the engine oil consumption issue, too! There is no drop in performance, or black/white smoke from the exhaust. I have done ~7500 kms so far and have got it serviced twice (at 1000kms and 5000kms).
No, the owner never mentioned something like that! Looks like an issue specific to your bike! I would suggest go see any authorised service centre and get it checked.
Aside from the bike being warmed up and upright as you mentioned, you also need to wait for around 3 minutes to let the oil settle in the oil tank. If you check the level immediately the oil in the head won't have drained down and the level will appear low. Engine oil can also burn off, especially when it's near time to change the oil, but that doesn't sound like the issue you're facing. Try waiting longer before checking the level.
Great video. I was considering buying this bike for touring. I own a gen 1 Duke 390 and was planning to get this for touring. This video cleared a lot of my doubts. Could you do a follow up video focusing touring with this bike? Long distance comfort, luggage being used? Thanks in advance.
Solo touring on it is not an issue really, I have done it with a small tank bag (Viaterra Oxus) and a larger tank bag fitted as a tailbag (Rynox Magnapod). You could also probably strap on a full sized tail bag if you really wanted to, but you wouldn't have much space to move around. Already having a larger tank bag on the tail means that you can't move back quite as far as you'd like to. By the time you've strapped on luggage and are sitting more upright due to tank + tail bags, you'd probably be in a similar position to your Duke 390. I don't think there's much reason to consider this a better option for touring than the bike you already have.
@@MyMediaRanch I don't think that would make a difference. If you see, the grab rail comes up past the edge of the seat. So you won't gain any space really. And having the rail there will help keep your luggage in place. You might be able to use the Rahgear Unrack Tour system. It's expensive at 10k, but you get 55L of storage without having to use saddlestays. I'm not sure how wide the Unrack tailbag is, but it might be less intrustive than the Magnapod.
The ECU decides the air fuel ratio, so you're not making anything leaner, you're giving the ECU the option of more air intake. These engines certainly do run lean, especially at lower RPMs due to emission control reasons, but across the rev range the fueling will be a lot more balanced, and there are times where the ECU will happily add more air to the mix if available. This allows for some level of improvement with just an air filter change. You're right that adding FuelX will see maximum benefit, however they haven't released FuelX for the India Spec 401 yet, and FuelX has some cons and bugs, so I am not sure if I want to bother. In my experience, adding a performance air filter alone does provide at least some benefit to most bikes, though it's up to your wallet to decide whether it's worthwhile, and unless you have an older bike with a carburetor, you're not messing with the mixture by doing so.
I think this guy is comparing this bike to a liter bike. I don’t find that there’s any lack of low end power just watch the drag race vids on here. It beats most bikes off the line in its segment.
Everyone has a different prespectives of same bike, he shared what he felt from his POV. Thankyou for your comment though! And 100% agreed that it beats almost all bikes in the segment :D
@ you’re right. His point of view. To me tho he should def try the fuelx if you are going to increase air flow you should probably increase fueling as well. That’s my opinion
When I talk about the low end power, I am talking about the nature/character of the engine at low RPMs and how comfortable it is in that zone. Compare the low end of KTM engines to say the Speed 400, or a longer stroke engine. They're a completely different experience at the low end. Yes the bike is fast off the line, that's why I bought it. But the way it delivers power is wildly different from other bikes which deliver torque down lower and operate better at lower RPMs, that was my point. I prefer this experience overall, but it isn't a good fit for everyone which is why so many people will buy a Speed 400 instead. That point was made to address the majority of people who like a different engine character. Also please understand that the context here is Indian city traffic. Most commute time is spent stop-and-go with minimal throttle openings.

Will get next one with adjustable suspension for sure.

Totally agree it’s been the best headlight I’ve ever had on a bike.
It's a good headlight, but the pulser n series and dominar have better ones. So people who have used those can feel like a degrade

The owner himself owns a dominar and does touring on that because this bike is small for touring with a pillion! It's fine if you ride alone!

Upgrading the intake prob requires a fuelx right? You’re making a lean mix leaner.
I am not an expert to comment on that! I will convey this message to him.
@ awesome. I’d be interested to hear his thoughts on the fuelx as well.
