Top, top arranger, and so musical. Always humour in his playing, and beauty. Richard has been causing me to shake my head in wonderment since I first heard him in 1994
Absolutely I know of Richard and his accomplishments. I was referring to the fact the world is indeed filled with guitarists. ua-cam.com/video/P-GItbqQR2s/v-deo.html
I dare say that Richard Smith IS the Chet Atkins of our day...and then some! He's on a whole other level compared to his contemporaries! I'd kill to have just half of his right hand picking ability! It's second to none!
Thank you Mr. Smith. your way to create emotion over the great emotion of such a music, the great art of your fingers, able to respect the Genius by adding you own geniality, really, moved in me a lot of tears while earing and earing this performance. That was really a strong experience, rare experience, a sort of paradise of guitar music. Thank you a lot.
Guess I’ll have to update my version of this song, Richard Smith Just took it to a whole new level, Love the harmonies and the Arrangement , Thanks Richard.
Listening to him is like being in a ring with a great boxer, and every so often he gets tired of beating your brains out, and he throws a combination that comes out of no where.

Richard is one of those guys that degrades you to a guitar owner. He's at that level that passion and dedication alone won't get you to. Most of of simply aren't good enough.
There are clips of him jamming with Tommy e. Really great synergy. He also does amazing work with Gypsy Jazz. which I find exquisite. Always worth listening to.
Yep, definitely, Richard Smith deserves more praise. I've seen him open up for Tommy Emmanuel on a few occasions, and I would have paid the price of admission just for Richard. There's actually also a really good arrangement of this tune by Ton Van Bergeyk on an album of his (circa 1980), that's of similar quality. There's also midi file of that version on the internet, so it's a good version to learn. I think tabbing out the Richard Smith version of Georgia would be awesome and it would make it a master piece of tablature, so I hope someone does it sometime.
Great to see/hear this. I saw Richard with two other guys (his brothers?) in a tiny place in Croydon years ago, he was staggeringly good , played a lot of old Chet stuff very well indeed.
In my view Richard is one of the greatest although this time I think the song is a little busy, one of my favourite songs by Ray Charles. Still amazing though. Would love to see him live, Richard that is.

Seen a lot of his videos. Does he ever sing? He always has a microphone and his voice seems like he would be a good singer. Every now and then he approaches the mic and seems like he is about to sing but never goes there. Anyone know?
Richard you're a great player but you tend to way over play. No offense but the song would be so much sweeter with the "less is more" thing. But you are a very fine player.
I'm sure he'll be able to take his performance to a higher level and will be eternally grateful to have received the expert advice of Dennis Smock. This could be the turning point in Richard's career! History will commemorate the day he took a masterly tip from... what did you say your name was again?
Richard Smith deserves more recognition. He is one of the best guitarist in the world .
Yep.
Easily.
Agreed!
Indeed !
Stevo , I haven’t seen such precision playing . I’m a guitar player and he is bloody good
Never known guitar can be so jazzy before I heard Richard Smith play.
Beautiful....Jerry Reed plus some....
Taste and Talent .... a rare and beautiful combination.
Beautiful Richard good on you ol' boy
Top, top arranger, and so musical. Always humour in his playing, and beauty. Richard has been causing me to shake my head in wonderment since I first heard him in 1994
I've been shaking my head at him much less time than you but no less vigorously :) He's a complete joy to listen to.
Born in, Georgia and THIS rendition, THEE best I've ever heard, certainly has, Georgia on my mind. Thank you, Sir. Just brilliant. 😉 💜 🍀 🎶
Hoagy Carmichael wasn´t from Georgia. Indiana. The song was written for a skirt by the name of.......
Richard is no doubt one of the best to ever touch the instrument.
Yes he is. He’s played at two of my house parties in St. Paul and it’s always very special.
@@captainkangaroo4301 invite bro, god damm it! Lol
Richard Smith = the 🐐 GOAT! Please come to America. We need some real music in our hearts! ❤ USA 🇺🇸 🇬🇧
He lives in Nashville, TN
Richard does a lot of variety at the highest level. Love his gypsy jazz.
What's cool is that the world's top 4-5 guitarists all know each and are friends....and every once in a while, they jam together.
Top 4 or 5 American contemporary guitarists. The world is bigger than what a UA-cam algorithm puts in your feed.
@@bobo-xh4mr Do you even realize that Richard Smith is British?

Met this guy at the Ullapool Guitar Festival, such a lovely man and a truly great talent.
Prodigious and this would take me half a century to reach that level but then, he is from another world. Just look at his hat.

That doesn't really make sense. How's he been beating your brains out thus far?
Love this guitar playing. Along with Tommy Emmanuel, Josco Stephan and Bireli Lagrene - oh there are so many great guitarists out there!
Its one of the best guitar performances i have seen in live. Its unreal
Beautiful style sound & execution-had a pleasant chat with Mr Smith @ the Station Nashville with John Jorgenson a Gypsy Night . Terrific !!

Thank you for posting. This is the best version I've heard on this song on guitar. Truly fantastic work.
You need to cover this! You’re amazing too Emil!
Steve Simpson (of Ronnie Lane's Slim Chance) does a great vocal/instrumental version too....!
Nice version but I still like Jerry Reeds as he sings also.
As great as Richard is, he loses to Jerry with this one. ua-cam.com/video/epgT9UUQc_0/v-deo.html

Ray Charles would be loving this arrangement.
Master ,Monster of the Guitar
Just add Ray Charles’ voice........this would go platinum. Richard has to be the best these days...so versatile and always melodic.
Beautiful Richard thanks for sharing
wow ... WOW ... Holy Django Bat Man. A Master! He makes happy!
Great arrangement . Such a great player saw Richard playing live many years ago with his two brothers on the IW. UK. love the Kirk Sand guitar.
Love it.
OMG, this is so slick !
Classy, great phrasing, brilliant!
Que MARAVILHA!
Perfection.
I've been trying to play like this for 20 years. Now that he's done it... I can spend my time on something more productive.
Awesome!!!

Who else got juked when he turned to the mic? I was thinking he was going to start singing. Like no WAY 😮. Pro juke.
Amazing fluency on the fretboard..
Out Freakin' standing!
Cool!
Chet named Richard as one of his Certified Guitar Players, like Tommy Immanuel.
Pure Jerry Reed.

Офигенно!!!!!!!!
A piece of the true cross, as far as I'm concerned
What if you could play like this! What and where would you go???
My god.....
Relevant title these days ...
The finger master. I think Richard might actually be a guitar posing as a human
No he’s a real human - he identifies as a guitar
Superb. How bout a duet w Martin Taylor???

13 guys?
Well played but kudos to Jerry Reed who originated most of this arrangement.
And i thought i had a great version going. Damn mine sucks compared to yours mate. bahaha
He's awesome, but why does he put a mic right in front of his mouth when he doesnt sing ? that breathing gives me the creeps
