Newsom's debate and recent comments about Gov. Ron DeSantis are leading to speculation Newsom could eventually launch a presidential bid.

Newsom will not challenge President Biden for 2024. But he WILL run in 2028. It's called developing the candidate early.

@@thepotatofuhrer2991 I did, and I do. Now I want good roads, bridges, schools, and libraries. I want folks to have the safety nets they need when they need them. I want school kids to have a healthy meal(s) at school. I would even pay a bit more depending on how it's used.
@@ericapelz260 Do you know when I calculate my taxes for the month I figured out that I pay almost the exact same in taxes that I do for all my bills for the month. So On a surface level thought process, you would think I would be getting back from the government in some shape or form something of that value. The value of my home that keeps me dry from the rain, my electricity that keeps me warm, the insurance on my vehicles etc. But when I look around The most valuable thing offered to me are roads, military defense from other countries, and first responders. Now I could be wrong, but I don’t believe the cost of those things equals up to my monthly bills. Maybe I’m not doing the math correctly but I also don’t think they are doing the math correctly considering how much debt they are in. At this point, I would just like most of the money back or at least let me choose or my taxes go.

What i was blown away by in regard to the Newsom - Hannity debate was that Newsom was so loaded with he facts and the delivery that he did not let this trained in rudeness Republican get away with not allowing him to talk by talking over him. Instead Newsom plowed him with truth and facts without giving in to his bullytalk. Thank you for putting htis on. Very helpful. Very uplifting. Good going.
Also, Newsom smiled throughout, didn't get overtly aggressive & kept his cool. Easier said than done. It's a small thing, but it is important as it gives the impression of civility and respect. Look at DeSantis, he does the opposite and it comes across as he is not ready for prime time.

California's population (39 million) is the same as Canada's, yet its GDP is twice as high. Those leaving the State are retirees (selling out at obscene profits). Blame it on a world-class, accessible, affordable College system.

Even after the recent wildfires that absolutely devastated us, my small city still had a net increase in population during the recent census.
By per-capita percentage gain, more people are moving to California in brand new homes next to UC Riverside and UC Merced university campuses. That's the only places with real California growth now.

I used to think California has high taxes till I moved to Texas. If you own a house they work out to be EXACTLY the SAME.
The average price of a home in Texas is 60% less than California. That's hundreds of thousands in your pocket if you live in Texas.
With no income tax, you have to support the State somehow.

I'm 66 and retired, lived most of my life in CA, middle income, maybe a bit lower. Yes, it's expensive, but if you manage your priorities correctly you can live well here on a modest income. We rent a 1,200 sqf condo. We can afford to live in a part of town (Sacramento) where we want because we don't want/need a big house. We both have Toyota hybrids that are +5 years old that we paid cash for. So the high cost of gasoline in CA isn't a financial burden and we don't have car loans and our insurance premiums are lower. We both enjoy a simplified more minimalistic lifestyle in our golden years and we can still enjoy the best that CA has to offer. We road trip often and enjoy hiking all over this wonderful state.
Texas has much higher almost double on property taxes than CA. so, it's not like Texas has friendly tax policies to all.
Texas has no state property tax unlike California. Texas also doesn't have a state income tax unlike California too.

High taxes pay for those who have less. Taxes are not necessarily bad when you recieve Health Care, un-employment for longer than 2 weeks, Education!!! for all.....Taxes can pay for ALOT!! I pay 49% in Germany and I live in a Democratic Security where Voting are Free and Fair.

Newsom is right. Many companies originally started in California. Just like many California owners, thanks to California that gave them opportunity to buy their first home and then expand. Just like myself I bought my first house in California. Then I bought my second home in Arizona. There's 180 Billionaires in California, the most in the nation.

This was a great interview for Newsome. In a weird similarity to Trump, he said EXACTLY what I find most left/center-left people think but never openly say (Trump did this for the right): democratic states are the reason our country is so wealthy and our quality of life so high and we’re subsidizing the livelihoods of the failed states (red states - Mississippi Kansas Oklahoma etc etc). Glad he said this to a predominantly Republican audience.

So no one is talking about the economics of both states and the impact of its leadership on that states economy? How when a state is run by and controlled by republicons that state is poor and a drag of the nations GDP and states run by and controlled by Democrats those states are caring the country's GDP.
I grew up watching Beverly Hillbillies. It had such a profound effect upon me as a child that I moved to California soon as I graduated from High School and I've never looked back.

As an Illinoisan, taxes as a whole aren’t too high. We have a flat tax, and taxes are too LOW on big corporations. We should lower taxes on those making less and raise them for those making a lot of money. Unfortunately, a flat tax is in the state constitution and we have had trouble repealing it via referendum.
Standard of living is much higher in CA . The entire South lives in poverty and would be worse were in not for blue states subsidies
Don't paint all the South with a broad brush. Some of us are American patriots, who are patiently waiting for the inevitable demographic change.
Hopefully sometime this decade, Texas will once again turn *BLUE* 🟦 or *PURPLE* 🟪, like what happened in Georgia and Arizona. We need Trump to increase voter turnout among Democrats.

There is always a balance that must be kept regarding taxation. Taxes are required if we want the services, programs and services we all enjoy. Cutting taxes is not is not an economic windfall for everyone. The poorest normally suffer under tax-cuts due to cuts in support programs. The wealthy adore tax cuts because they have no need for social programs.
Funny, COSTS are being cut due to EQUITY, such as police. No one, save for conservatives, respect police anymore. What you do have is a freeloader's paradise.

DeSantis’s lame attempt to troll Newsom about not running for POTUS yet, falls flat. Unlike DeSantis, Newsom will FINISH the job his state chose him for 1st, then run when he has a chance to do more than grift off a campaign. BTW- Florida & TX have plenty of high taxes, housing costs & power bills, too.
As someone who moved to TX from Northeast, TX has much higher bills in everything from electricity, water and sewer bills, utilities, lawn maintenance, hoa fees, car insurance and groceries. You have no state tax on income which is great and helps offset some of this for sure but TX is growing and has high taxes for goods. Personally I prefer the Northeast tbh but the people are very nice. I live in a Dem stronghold but even the Republicans are nice mannered here honestly compared to people in Northeast. Diversity is low but it is nicer. I've seen NY be absolutely pathetic in services

Newsom should have replied to Hannity's question of why corporations leave CA with this: Regardless of which state a corporation begins in, once they have grown to the point where they have economic clout, meaning that virtually any state would want to have them, they of course shop around, as you or anyone would. Of course you are going to shop around. It's your obligation to your board and your shareholders to see if you can strike a better deal. The two points to keep your eye on with regards to a corporation's home state is which state did they originate from and why, and if they did leave at some point in their evolution and growth, was it the right move. If a corporation leaves a state and then returns, this speaks volumes about that state.
I will add that I was not a fan of Newsom after he transitioned from mayor to Governor. It seemed that it went to his head. For example, he made the all too common mistake of attending banned social events during Covid restrictions communicating that rules and regulations didn't apply to him. But the last couple of years have shown us that Newsome is a fierce fighter. He doesn't just take it on the chin. He fights back, and calls out the right's BS, not later when he's had time to consult with others, but immediately, on the spot and usually shuts down his opponent, making them look unprepared and uninformed. This is what America needs right now.
Apple has stayed in CA right from the start.
Those companies are large international companies that have moved their HQ but still keep much of their operation in California especially R&D.
As a Democrat in CA who has lived in NY, AZ, NV and NM, and in Europe in well-run socialized countries, I have to say the CA is not great for small businesses. My husband is a contractor and we are mowed down by high workers comp, taxes and insurance and paying legit wages but having to compete against contractors who have relationships with illegal immigrant workers. On top of that, Covered Cal health insurance has been an absolute NIGHTMARE to deal with. No doctors take our insurance. Funding at our girl's high school is skeletal and the kids pay that price.
Love me some Cali. Wouldn't live anywhere else.

Anyone in CA knows Biden will run for president, but he also would not run against Biden because Biden is doing, and will continue to do a great job over the next four years. Newsom will build on those efforts to rebuild America.

He argued that progressive policies are driving the economy in blue states, and that California is the fourth largest economy in the world. He also highlighted that businesses may leave California for tax reasons, but the state still has the highest number of start-ups in the US.

Businesses yes of course look at Taxes, but they also look at other things like, Transport infrastructure, etc. If businesses looked at only the taxes then all businesses would have moved to states where the taxes are lowest.
