It’s crazy because I my self am a Christian and it took a while of actually reading the Bible to realize that the IBLP was so successful because it was a perverted form of true Christianity. I still see aspects of it seep into how I look at Christian’s and Christianity as a whole today.
As a Catholic, i can confirm that listening to the details of the IBLP for the first time made me want to throw up. Thats some dystopian nightmare material, and it sickens me that people will use religion of ANY kind to dehumanize and straight up torture people honestly.
The funny thing is in Fallout New Vegas you can visit a monitoring station with a terminal detecting 4 missiles coming from China, and the US retaliated. Similar to the 1983 Doomsday incident, scary to think about how easy it is for the only source of life that we know of to be snuffed out.
In some stories, cannibalism is used as an expression of love. The closest thing I can compare the feeling to is overwhelming grief- the kind where you cannot bear to let go. The kind that causes old people to not report their spouses dead, keeping the body around because they can’t bear to face reality and lose them
You would think DB Cooper died on that jump, he was just wearing a regular suit with a defective parachute and not to mention he jumped during a big storm into a big forest miles away from the nearest town. But I would think they find his body or some remnants after all this time
I learned about Armin Meiwes long before the episode aired, but I remember he and his mistake cooking...a certain body part...was referenced by Mason Verger in an episode of Hannibal.
I actually lived in Big Sandy Texas where the ALERT academy is located. Or one of them? I dont know if there's more. But everyone in town knew it was a cult, and everyone thought it was weird. They have a choir? And they came and sang at our school once, it was strange. I guess at a glance it wasn't unusual for a small town in Texas, but coming from a non-religious family, going into school and knowing a cult (that my stepmother warned me about specifically) coming to sing was incredibly weird.
Long Pig is a reference to the taste of human meat. It supposedly tastes something very close to pork (and is also occasionally described as tasting like veal). Essentially we are very long pigs in the eyes of those who eat human meat.
I'm firmly in the Dan Cooper died camp. Something else of note is some of the money he was given was eventually found decayed in a state park. That strongly implies he lost the money and the only reason I can think someone like that would lose money he worked that hard for is if he was dead.
Happy to see 1983 doomsday get a mention! I've always loved alternate history and with how close we were to complete armageddon, its genuinely fascinating but also deeply disturbing imagining a world where we nuked ourselves back to the stone age.
Don't know why, but "Rabbit Holes" always remind me of that The Batman song "Something in my arse!". I completely forgot the phrase is based on Alice in Wonderland. 😂
Happy 100k I've been a sub since like 80k i hope you become one of the most popular UA-camrs you add so much soul to the things you read cheers to another million subs🎉
hey if you have a bad phobia of something maybe...don't go down the rabbit hole of people who enjoy writing, drawing, and fantasizing about that thing. sacrificing your mental health for a video is not a good idea.
The term "rabbit hole" doesn't mean a subject is obscure, so being "covered to death" has nothing at all to do with whether or not these qualify as rabbit holes. A rabbit hole is just a subject that is bizarre and complex, a subject you can spend a lot of time getting lost in the details of.
Cannibalism, AGAIN? 🙄🙄 The Internet must have an obsession with it! (WHY wouldn't a post-apocalyptic government just make it punishable by death? 😏) I don't think much of your "alternative history" site. 😏 The idea that New Zealand might be one of the few countries to best survive a nuclear world war is an old one in realistic sci fi: it appears in John Wyndham's The Chrysalids from 1955, which I can heartily recommend: it's certainly better than all this Cormac McCarthy-style twaddle! 😏
Correct, fantasy can be dangerous with those who can't separate it from reality. However it often appears the ones who have the most difficulty separating fantasy from reality are the observers. You kind of touch on having that very problem a couple times (saying vore is "pushing it" for example). No I'm not a vorarephile, I think vore is gross too, but I do trust that those who like it are adults who can separate their fantasies from reality. Fetish shaming in general tends to often rest on a largely baseless fear that those with the fetish don't have that capacity. To use the same logic, are people who play violent video games likely to engage in violence themselves? The pearl clutching (yes that's what you're doing) over fetishes is basically the "violent media causes violence" argument redressed around something else. The answer remains the same in both cases.
If you have a fear of cannibalism, then you might want to stay away from the band Rammstein. They have a song that was inspired by the Cannibal Cafe story.
I read the first entry as "Internet Cannabis" 3x (twice in the thumbnail autoplay) and proceeded to be rather confused for the first 30 secs or so... XD
Hey, I'm going out in a huge limb to talk about cannibalism and my thoughts and maybe anwser some questions. (Yes, I go to therapy.) I get very very intense intrusive thoughts about killing and eating people. To the point I scare myself with these thoughts. It's especially common with my family and those I love. The major reason I have these thoughts, according to my therapist is a fucked up grieving process from some dead family members that I lost. Subconsciously, I long for these people back. So, I want to eat people to 'make sure they stay with me.' Is it sexual for me? Absolutely fucking not. Do I hate it? Absolutely. Do I plan on killing an eating people? Fuck no. Of course, if there is any questions about the thought process of 'cannibal ideology.' I will gladly awnser to the best of my ability.
@Stang2023 Yes, I agree. Especially as these thoughts came relative close after this loved one of mine passed. It started out as 'I wish I had something of his with me.' and it very much spiraled into a 'I should go and find his corpse and eat his skin so he could be with me.' as dark as it may sound.
There are online communities actively theorizing whether or not D.B. Cooper survived. Online communities have written stories centered around a timeline where Stanislav Petrov wasn’t on duty the day of that missile attack warning.
Interesting fact (that will lead to another, maybe more disturbing rabbit hole): There is a tribe, the Fore, who used used to practice ritualistic cannibalism. They stopped that in the 60's, when their practice lead to a disease called Kuru. Kuru is in a family of disease called Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies, or Prion diseases. They are completely incurable, slowly killing you as misfolded proteins multiply and rip holes in your brain. The one that personally scares me the most is Fatal Insomnia. Look into this at your own discretion
I always comment this on every video that talks about this case, but I guess I just can’t help it. The cannibal cafe is a very rare case where both individuals, to the very end, were very aware of the situation and were consenting. I’m not into cannibalism, but I don’t think either of the men in the story should be demonized. Is it gross? Yes. But I think, to the very end, they both knew exactly what they were doing. Do I condone suicide? No. But if that was truly how he wanted his life to end, im glad he could find that peace for himself

crazy whiplash to go from the relatively fun, kind of wacky tale of DB Cooper to the IBLP.

Of course, the Catholics would never do such things. We all know they have no involvement in conquest, suppression, or child abuse coverups.
I agree.
It just seems like a cynical attempt to control others. Christianity is but a coat of paint that it wears to do that.
The IBLP is great at teaching kids! Teaching them to never speak to their parents again as soon as they move out on their 18th birthday.

I'm so glad to see you made it to 100K subs (pretty much), these videos are my favourite thing to listen to.
I swear an Arby's commercial about choosing which kid we'd eat came on. Broke out laughing at work

I've found about him on ancient horror blogs and the song Eaten by Bloodbath
DB Cooper has been done to death.
Chael Sonnon claims to know who it is and the guy came over to his house for dinner years ago.
Meiwes' case inspired Rammstein's song "Mein Teil," which makes it darkly funny when you relisten.
Listening Sacrow talk about vore is not something I expected to do today
always look forward to your vides man, keep it up!!
i love watching your videos

Jesus Christ when did rabbit holes become things that are on the 1st layer of every iceberg chart
Haha exactly
a “rabbit hole” video is just an in depth explanation of an odd topic, it doesnt have to be bottom of the ice berg to be a rabbit hole.
I was waiting to see how the airplane story related to cannibalism 😅
I love sacrows videos I find it hard to find channels of the same kind with the same quality and quality :D
