I hope that you make all of the Mario maps one day. Personally I'd love to see you tackle a Mario Galaxy world. Perhaps just a half of a stage on a dome.

I'm sure you have your own process - but if you'd like any help with finding visual references, or just bouncing ideas off of, I'd be happy to lend a land. I think the coolest thing about the map in that game is how it's split into four quadrants of a circle, so rather than the whole map facing in one direction like most of the ones you've done, each side would face a different cardinal direction. I think that makes it a really interesting subject, because it could only be expressed using a 3D medium without cutting it up. Good luck regardless!

The way each individual quadrant looks in-game, they actually seem to each take up more than 1/4 of the circle, so it would be hard to put all four in one map without it looking more crowded than it does in-game. I think as long as the north quadrant looks good; the first one you see in the game and the one shown on the box art, then it wouldn't be too big a deal if the other three were more streamlined. I think being able to spin it around see the whole world looping around itself would be too great of an effect not to attempt. The south quadrant's most noteworthy landmarks seem to be a bridge over a cavern, and a Tower of Pisa-esque building, which could probably be squished into a smaller area than the rest. Also, the forest on the right-side of the west quadrant is the same one that's on the left-side of the north quadrant, so that's like 33% of each of those maps that can be condensed into one. I think I might try to make a mock-up map of this, if only the satisfy my own creative curiosity, but I'll be happy to share that if I do. Also-also, if you're going to give the piece a dome cover, which I think would really complete it, then you should find something to be the dome first, then build the map to fit that, rather than try to find something to fit after the fact. I know a lot of DIY shops will have things like custom ornament balls that split into two halves, which would probably work pretty well. You'd just need a size that would be workable. Speaking of which, the scale shouldn't matter much, since the music box sprite in-game is like half the size of Wario, and I doubt that's canonically supposed to be its size, so just go as big as you would need to comfortably get the detail you want out of it. Sorry if I'm overwhelming you with information. I'm not trying to tell you what to do like this is some kind of commission. I just get really excited like this when I start figuring out a project.
