I own the HD500X and I've got it sounding amazing! Half the battle of getting your master tone for any processor has to do with your sound engineering skills. The more you know to adjust the parameters and why makes all the difference! For me the HD500X is easy to arrange effects and has a ton of versatility for foot switch assignment. The POD may be a little bright sounding but adjusting your Hi/Low attenuation takes care of all that. I'm so glad I bought the unit! $400 new and I have the sounds of $100,000+ of equipment with a fraction of the space! Amp modeling Rocks!!
Super job on the comparisons. I'm leaning toward the boss. That said, after watching your video amongst others, you did one of best for both models. Thanks for a great comparison.
At the end of the day, it's just all about tweaking it my friends. Both products are good. It has its strength and weaknesses but its more to the player on how he use it and how he can make tones out of it. Its just that each musician has his own preferred tones which sometimes if often than not is different from others... all i can say is that at this age we are blessed to have these technologies. Use it well... enjoy!
Wow both sounds okay to my ears.. I will choose whichever costs the cheapest $, durable, and has good online support (drivers/ forums/ presets, etc). I’m 100% sure this will sound different depending on output, whether just on headphones, direct to house, or direct to active PA.. may the best tweaker wins :)
I would pick the BOSS unit, POD has more dry latency on their converters vs the BOSS unit. Setup a dry patch ( all off effects) and then play any POD HD 500 and even newer versions, notice the Input delay. Anyone doing hammer on/offs will have to adjust their timing due to this delay ( 4 ms I believe). I have bone induction issues so I hear the sound after the vibrations so I have to use either real amps or older FX units which had 1 ms input latency
Thanks dude. Due to this video one thing became very clear to me. This Amp processors are just as you said "semi"-good. You can get really good sounds and play with a lot of effects, but on the other hand, depending on what you're searching for, it's just an emulation. If you want a different, maybe a more punching sound, you need to buy equipment according to what you're searching for. The video definitely shows what you can do with these processors.
Great Video! the comparison had a clearly defined ruleset and structure, was straight forward and in an excellent sound quality. I can now safely say that I enjoy the GT100 over the POD HD500x. Keep it up man!
They both good. Whichever is cheaper and you like the buttons more honestly. They’ll both sound good and you won’t have someone bring the opposite to the gig to compare and call you out lol
Super review I am almost on a Gt 100 ( having a Gt 1 already), how about the new Mooer 150 in context to the Boss..would save have of the budget? But sound?
Very good A/B comparison. I like your Tele by the way. I've had Boss stompboxes before and I still have some of their pedals. They make fine products. The only thing I've not liked about them vs. say Digitech or Line 6's units is the Boss has plastic stomps. Though I've never had a problem with mine, I prefer the metal buttons. It seems to me they would last longer. Good video, thank you.
I only have the pod 500x for a day or so I, too quickly on a few videos about not being happy with it I then went home yesterday after making those videos saying I was going to sell it and get the GT 100. I go home to sleep weekend with the sounds on the Line 6 Pod and I now love it. The big thing to remember with the pod hd500x it is hitting the enter button twice quickly jumps you into a menu with the effects where you can see everything and adjust it more importantly hitting it twice on the amplifier allows you to go in and adjust on the bottom things like sag all sorts of things that alter the sound I would say the boss sounds pretty good right out of the gates the Line 6 there certain things you have to do to get a good sound out of it that is not setup right when you start using it and they are things that you have to do mandatory or else you won't complain like me and people have probably gotten rid of theirs prematurely instead of doing a few simple adjustments. I also have some great pedals in the front of sweet honey Deluxe overdrive and a Dirty Shirley and in my effects loop I have the Matthew's astronomer V2 ehx pitch fork and TC electronic flashback I think you need some good pedals on both sides of it
Thanks for a pretty useful video. I'm not familiar with either, never owned a multi effect by either. So, in that respect at least, I'm unbiased. To my ears, Boss sounds more like a live performance, analog, Line 6 sounds really cleaned up, like a studio recording. I wonder if you have a setting that is not identical going on...it seems to me that Line 6 is so cleaned up that maybe there's a noise gate setting or compression, something of that nature, that's removing something that's present in Boss. Boss sounds a bit more natural to me, messy in a good way, with overtones. As I say, it sounds more "live" to me, with a bit more mids and lows. Assuming my ears are good, those differences could probably be narrowed with small adjustments...you could probably get either one to sound more like the other. Not meaning to disrespect the Line 6; if you want is a really clean sound, very balanced and detailed, Line 6 may be the better choice. Thanks again.
I e tried both myself and Line 6 always has that awful processed studio sound. Boss seems to deliver the on live sound better. I’ve been looking for something that isn’t boring to play through my amp. Line 6 is NOT it.
I have not used the GT100 yet, I have owned the GT5, GT8 and the GT10 and they are great for certain applications. I still use the GT10 in the 4 cable method with a tube amp and it wakes up my Marshall big time. I have a PODHD500x and use it as a preamp with a stereo tube amp/cab and it just sounds awesome. Compared to the GT10 and earlier models its far easier to dial in a kick ass sound. With the Boss you can spend endless hours, even days tweaking one of the 7 eq's that you can find in 20 different menus. Sure if you like tweaking your sound forever then its great! I like the POD because I choose an amp I like, dial the eq a little, then ad boost or what ever and I am done. The Marshall and Mesa preamps sound awesome with little to no effort. It took me almost two months to get the GT10 to sound good! Now after saying that, when I find a GT100 for the right price I'm getting it! For the record on this vid I think the Boss sounded a little better.
Albee213 Hi man, wondering if you could give me your opinion on which is better to use with my marshall tube amp for effects only, 4cm, no amp modelling. The boss gt100 or the line 6 m13 (same effects as the hd500). Wondering which has better quality effects overall?
stephen hilton hmmm, if you are doing a lot of EQ'ing to sculpt sound I would use the Boss. I have never used the HD500x in the 4 cable method, I am too lazy. Line 6 for the win. Sounds even better if you run the wall of sound cab sim with it. Line 6 is the most versatile and sounds more like tubes. The boss sounds pretty digital to my ears. But it might have better stock cab options. Idk, but line 6 wins for me
You can consider other models, the Boss GT-1 which essentially has the same tones as the GT-100... You can also check out the Zoom G3Xn as well....we have demos comparing these models on the channel, check them out...
Unfortunately I dialed it all in by ear, and once I was done with the vid I had to factory reset it as it was sold to a customer. So sorry but I dont have the patches!
Im general both sound's good. Maybe some ajusts GT100 have more dark colors and POD high treble. Only BIG diference is plexi (POD wins) Bogner (GT100 wins) for me.
U should of did side by side to hard to compare. Not to mention both devices have different ways to sound different. And to a valve fender twin with a kickass distortion pedal threw the clean chanel they are toys
The boss to me sounds closer to using a real amp with effects while the Line 6 is closer to how you would hear the amps on a record or CD with the effects. Both are good and which ever keeps you playing is the real winner. The amp modelers before this were good and these are even better.
superjinx yes it is. It's how they sound through a certain miked cab. Not everyone plays these things straight to the board - many (most?) play thru amps
I sold the Pod hd500x for the zoom g5n a few weeks back. It was the biggest mistake I've ever made. I returned the zoom and bought the Pod again. It;s a bit harder to get good tones but it was WAY more powerful and the zoom feels like a toy in comparison.
ı used boss gt 10 for 10 years. I am bored so much but when ı listened different pedals , realized that boss sounds hoarse so far. same hoarse dark tones here again , same exactly with previous models. now I have ine hd 500 , sooo happy after boss.
Berk balci Thanks for you advice . I have one more question. I have a Vox ac 30 do you think I he HD 500 is good with tube amps? The gt10 has S/R in FX chain that with change the chain from parallel to serial and that option is great with tube amps
@@rottarot4750 yes it would be great with tube amps. You can bind it as four cable method to get drive tones from tube amps. So you can use effects and boost through hd 500. You must select output select to ''combo front''. İ am binding hd 500 to line6 spider 15 watt. Even this sounds great.
Berk balci Great , thanks so much for your help. I’m struggling to get a foot sound by connecting the boss gt 10 with Vox ac30 am. I hope the pod will be easier to get a good tones
People who say there is a winner here...don't even know the differences. Pre-amps of HD500X are better than GT100 by far; but FXs of GT100 are top of line.
Kalo saya pilih biss gt 100.alasan nya sesuai karakter dan kebutuhan bermain music saya.pod hd 500x dominan ke karakter metal lbh bagus. Dan suara lbh crunchi and treble pod.boss lbh kompleks kalo menurut saya.pod jga bagus.tinggal pilih

The Boss is warmer (due to more compression). I think the POD sounds more realistic to the actual amps.
Yeah the key here is they *sound* real, but not really either.

I’ve been a line6 guy for a while now, but I’ve gotta say in this video the Boss sounds much better!
Boss was made to run in front of an amp, Line 6 sounds already mixed to go straight to the PA or DAW. You should decide based on what you plan to do.
No that's not correct, you can set the GT-100 to suit anything you want to go into.

GT-100 wins all the way cause of the raw solid tones and the warmth both in cleans and distortion.

used cab sim on the patches ?
Nope, since we're already using a real cab....the focus here was on the amp sims....
Music Bliss Malaysia thanks dude, i was looking exactly for this!!!
Love you for that soldier of fortune ❤️
Mesa 'n Bogner tones sound more tight on boss to my ears
4:03 What song?

We have to keep in mind this tone is altered by the Orange cab and mic. Not really how the 2 fx boards sound.
superjinx yes it is. It's how they sound through a certain miked cab. Not everyone plays these things straight to the board - many (most?) play thru amps
Pod hd500x or zoom g5n? Any recommendation guys?
I sold the Pod hd500x for the zoom g5n a few weeks back. It was the biggest mistake I've ever made. I returned the zoom and bought the Pod again. It;s a bit harder to get good tones but it was WAY more powerful and the zoom feels like a toy in comparison.
Alright, I've decided to buy the hd500x. Thank you!
Andrew Sidarta NP!!
And now we have Boss GT-1000 and it is just sick good. I am starting to regret i bought GT-100 on first place.. Now I want GT-1000 :D
Boss wins...I have a PodXT (Yes, I know its Old) I'm want the Boss GT-100!
ı used boss gt 10 for 10 years. I am bored so much but when ı listened different pedals , realized that boss sounds hoarse so far. same hoarse dark tones here again , same exactly with previous models. now I have ine hd 500 , sooo happy after boss.
I have the same issue. I’m so bored of it. Do you recommend the HD500 ? Is the HD500 easier to use that the GT10 ?
@@rottarot4750 much easier to write tones , especially through computer. İf u use it on the stage, u will hear the difference very well.

Thanks for you advice .

Great , thanks so much for your help. I’m struggling to get a foot sound by connecting the boss gt 10 with Vox ac30 am. I hope the pod will be easier to get a good tones
Gt 100 sounds organic
Axe Fx is the God ever..! But in this case Line HD500X wins, the sound is more professional
We are all winners today :)
Line6 pod hd500x wins!
BOSS GT 100
BOSS GT-100!
BOSS GT100 is the winner without a doubt
Boss GT 100, Tiene mas definición, cuerpo, balance grave medio agudos. Mejor resolucion en todo.
The Pod hd 500x is the most powerfull ,versátile pedalboard ever.
and the most misunderstood.
it takes years to study and master it.
Definitely agree. Most of those who hates the Line 6 I bet never tested it, I assume.
Boss win
Boss GT-100 Semi Professional ? ?
🙏🙏🎵
Gt 100 adipoli
TREMONSTER!!!
Clapton, YES!!!
i think boss gt100 IS MOST usefull
For metal genre choose the line 6 and boss gt for classic rock. but don't look the gt cannot do the metal.
Pod hd top sound!!!
depende en el lugar k los quieran poner..pero las emulaciones del HD500x suenan muy profecional y mejor desenvolvimiento k el gt100.
CAN YOU SAY THAT IN
ENGLISH OR DEUTSCH?
Para nada, Gt 100 gana en todo ;)
Line 6 anyday!
PODHD500X good echhh bebetullllll
すごく わかりやすい
Boss sounds much nicer to my ears. Tone sounds much warmer and natural.
People who say there is a winner here...don't even know the differences.
Pre-amps of HD500X are better than GT100 by far; but FXs of GT100 are top of line.
The GT-100 is better by far.
POD the better sound
Boss gt 100..suara lebih tebel
Lebih enak boss ya om?
@@andrathevito8923 tergantung selera kita masing2 Master
Kalo saya pilih biss gt 100.alasan nya sesuai karakter dan kebutuhan bermain music saya.pod hd 500x dominan ke karakter metal lbh bagus. Dan suara lbh crunchi and treble pod.boss lbh kompleks kalo menurut saya.pod jga bagus.tinggal pilih
@@andrathevito8923 di menit 11.55 - 13.07 seperti lagu nya peterpan - mungkin nanti.bnr gag sih???hha
hd 500 sounds more clear
Boss GT100 is better for me
Boss more natural - Line 6 more artificially! Better is Vox Tonelab EX!
