    One of the many ways to use the HD500X is to set up a patch and then use the 8 footswitches to turn single effects on and off, as if you had 8 single pedals in a pedal board. The advantage of doing it with a multi fx is that you have HD amp modelling and over 100 pedals to choose from, and when saved as a single patch, you can recall many different setups for different songs ! Ideal ! Paul Hindmarsh from Line 6 takes from power up patch 1A to stomp box mode in easy steps!

    Thank you Sir! for not complicating the dam thing and simplifying it... This is the best tutorial for this floorboard I've seen so far... I was just about to re-boxed the hd500x and return it to the seller for a refund till I saw this! You've just added lots of practical sense into the manual... Thank you Sir!!!

      4 eh Iagree with you and all around this thread....but every time I hear about the reboxing and returning I wonder how any store can stay in business doing that return policy....I have done it myself, please don’t get me wrong, but when I buy and amp or pedal or floor board like this, I am very weary as to getting a spanking new product......but I may go for one of these.....this guy did a great job....

    I bought one of these two years ago but me being a thick head I am when it comes to programming pedals, So after asking some of my mates for help I put it in the cupboard and forgot about it altogether, Ive just watched your demo this morning and got my HD500X out of the dusty cupboard and hey presto I've done it. Your demo has to be the best and easiest demo Ive seen in my 58 years of playing guitar, well done bud. Now I just need to lift it :0))

    Also, for example the switch from the intro to the chorus of paradise city goes from chorusy delay to a marshall rock sound. How would one be able to with the flick of a switch (in the same patch) be able to go from those two in fs1-8 mode? Would i need to assign the chorus and delay to one physical stomp on the hd500x then assign the distortion to another? I want to be able to change between the chorus and delay to the distortion all on the same patch with one foot switch. Is that possible?

    • @snicki59
      @snicki59 9 років тому

      Yes, for example: a delay for an angry gained amp. The delay will be gained too, an the volume for the repeats will get louder than after the amp, but for some reasons, it will be better, when U will get loud repeats (as an effect, fade in/outs, and only the delay repeats will stay). But there are no rules, what better sounds is the right way, but there are some tips, that U can use. Wah, Overdrive and Distortion gernally in Front of the Amp, Modulationeffects after the Preamp. Booster, EQ depends on, what U will get with them. But I still use Chorus and Phaser in Front of the Amp, for me, it sounds more Classic Rock n Roll like.

      @barrybennedetta 9 років тому +3

      No you can't run it straight into a Marshall cabinet (1960B)! It does not have a power amp built into it. It is meant to be used as either a pedal board into a regular guitar amplifier, as a pre-amp that goes into a power amp and then to a cabinet and finally as a unit that has simulated guitar amplifier sounds with adjustable effects to go directly into a PA system thus eliminating the need for a guitar amplifier on the stage or platform,

    I have been a Boss GT user for 20 years, but the HD500x is far better than what I have used and much easier to dial in a tone within minutes that work. I use mine either direct for recording or with a old Peavey Classic 60/60 stereo tube amp and it simply kicks ass. I can go from raging Marshall tone to Mesa death metal tone instantly. My only complaint is that the GT-75 speaker simulation sounds awful. When I try to setup a Marshall sound with that speaker cab which is "stock" Marshall sound it sounds nothing like it. So I use the v30 cabs more often.

I still use the Boss GT-100 with a Marshall and using 4 cable method. This allows me to use the amps sound while placing the effects in the loop. This allows a lot of tweaking power as well. I sold my Line-6 because I use VSTs amps on the PC 99% of the time.

      The 500x version has more computing power allowing you to use more effects and amps simultaneously. Typically if you have 2 amps going at the same time the POD runs into a limit to the number of effects that it can run. I find that amps, reverbs, and delays use the most amount of 'DSP' or computing power.

    How hard is it to use a proper mic for voice on videos? Sounds like the video mic is recording his voice 50' feet away. Use a directional boom mic and crank the volume up on the mic.

    So I'm supposed to learn about a recording product by people who can't mic a guy, and the guy can't even speak clearly. BYE!

    Tried to plug into amp's return but there is no sound coming out. Even with the line/amp switch was already switched to line Any ideas why?

      mac guinto
      1) there's probably a switch/footswitch to activate the fx loop
      2) some amps require you to plug a dummy cable into the input for fx loop to work.
