I love how he tries to make a poetic life lesson, but then follows it up with-
"Besides, I tried."
I supposed that means in the first gow that he doesnt have them but when atreus is full on il he gets the back, they are gonna be necessary even if he doesnt wanna
@@cuklyxd9031 he tried to get rid of them many times but every time he woke up, they came back. He tried not to sleep, throw them down a mountain and walk away and they still came back. That's the writing in a nutshell for this game. A lot of dropped balls, balls that were knocked out of the park every time in gow 4

That resigned anger at “they came back” is just weirdly funny to me

And then she clapped back about his spouse 😂
I liked that he used his experiences to empathize. Especially given his losses were ones of his own making but one's he uses to find his resolve and be better now, even for others.

It’s actually poetic that the blades come back, esp considering that at the end of GOW1 on ps2. Athena told Kratos “Although his sins were forgiven, no one should ever forget the things he’s done”

if Kratos ever needs money he can do the good 'old "sell the Chaos Blades" routine.
He tossed them like 5 times in the comics nice to see this reference come back around
I'm really enjoying how Kratos is much more open in this game, he actually answers Atreus instead of shutting him down or derailing the question
What wouldve been even funnier is if Kratos did a demonstration 🤣
he’s cursed to always live with that at which he’s done
I love these small interactions🙏🏻
Poor Atreus, he don't even Understand how much his dad been through
Just how Kratos wants it. He wants the boy to be able to live a better life, one free of Kratos' mistakes.
The reference on why the blades of Chaos comes back every time Kratos throws them away is because Athena and other foreign Gods are treating Kratos as their cosmic lab rat where they believe wherever he goes danger comes by the ones he would care about because his presence is always the sign of danger
These are the blades of exile, he hasn't had the blades of chaos since gow1, and has had 2 different blades including exile since then

Much has changed. For both of them.
Blades of Chaos:"of course papa i'm your #1 weapon in previous game"
I can just imagine the blades of chaos as twin yanderes who never leave you. Like you sit them down somewhere and take a carrage to another kingdom miles away and they just show up in the form of two women who scold you for leaving them behind.
Those Blades not just symbolize his past as well a part of him. Nice.
The way he said "they came back" is like he himself questioned like wtf
"Even hateful things have their uses."
He's talking about himself. Even after everything that's happened since then, he can't forgive himself for what he did. Kratos needs a hug.
The blades of chaos are the William afton of video game weapons
It’s funny how the guy pauses for cinematic effect sometimes when rowing the boat, but earlier he also casually crashes into a wooden barrel for the goods
if you listen very close to a line at the end you can hear he was laughing his ass off even if the take made it in the game they probably did few hundred but decided to throw in the one where he laughed the least. btw if ppl dont know who ima talking about its the voice actor for kratos and he was doing quite a few dad jokes on sets so wouldnt be craziest thats happend
Yea Kratos’s voice actor in these games loves to crack jokes. Look up “I’m a fucking god of war” it’s funny as all get out
The “They came” back line could be a reference to the chains of Olympus psp game 👀👀👀
I was thinking the Fallen God comics
Is for the comics, he tried to throw away the Blades mant times, but they always come back
Hephaestus was just too damn good at his job
That's by definition "some cursed ass shit" Kratos has there
I could listen to them hours long
The way he says "they came back" is like the beginning of a horror story.
They weren't just bound painfully to his flesh but his soul.
Those blades are destined to be with him until the end of time
Of course my favorite best blades are ATHENAS BLADES and lets not forget Blades of Exile
Pretty sure these are the Blades of Exile since Athena changed the Chaos' when he left Greece
@@bluestar_kun alot of people make this mistake, the blades of athena and the blades of chaos are 2 different sets of blades, the athena blades get turned into the exile blades, kratos gets the chaos blades ripped away by Ares at the end of GOW 1 and athena replaces them with her own (symbolizing how she now controls kratos basically) and he throws away the exile blades at the end of GOW 3 as they're not bound to him. In the comics between 3 and 4 it's shown the chaos blades follow him cuz they're bound to him. So therefore the blades in 4 and ragnarok are the original chaos blades from 1. Hope that clears up the confusion so many people in the community deal with, it can be a bit jarring lol
I used to think that after his Magic Weapons (Including ALL of the Weapons and Powers he gained in the Games from the beginning in Ascension till 3) broke, he basically absorbed their Magic Power into himself and once he rammed the Blade of Olympus and all of his GoW Power, he realeased 99% of ALL the Power and kept 1% of each, which then manifested in his Immortality, the Blades of Chaos just losz a lot of their Power as Greece was Gone, but Powered up with Norse Power
@@hoshiryu that's not a bad theory at all, it's probably confirmed somewhere but what I always think is that, excluding his magic, when he stabbed himself with the blade he both sent out Hope into Greece so it could heal while also absorbing his godly powers he drained into it at the beginning of 2. Although knowing how Kratos doesn't like himself bcuz of all that he's done I believe he didn't mean to absorb his powers and survive stabbing himself, it just happened lol
The way they absolutely demolish that crate with their boat and continue the conversation without skipping a beat made me lose it
The way he said " I tried...but they came back" is just horrifying ...implying how they seem attached to Kratos himself
ending of a vid is probably dad joke made by voice actor for kratos, heard few of his jokes so sounds kinda similar

I love the idea that these blades can never truly leave him. They’re the physical embodiment of his pain and anguish. Poor Kratos, he can’t seem to catch a break.
I love how all that can be summarized as: I tried. I failed. So I live with it.
I'm glad they at least kind of explained why he has the blades now
my man got the Annabelle vibes there
I love how Kratos almost sounded disgusted that they came back
The blades came back when kratos sleeps
the line "besides. i tried..." is something I've never thought I would hear coming from Kratos, sounds so... futuristic
Those blades in the middle of the night after he throws them away be like:I always come back
Context :
In one of the novel, Kratos threw blade of chaos to sea from cliffs.
The very next day, its returned by itself on Kratos room
It just grew legs and started walking to his room
I thought he didn’t get rid of them because he didn’t want them falling into the wrong hands.
Nope. The Blades are cursed. No matter what Kratos does to get rid of them, they always come back to him in some way. After GOW 3, he literally threw them in the ocean in the middle of a storm, and after sailing thousands of miles away, there they were, washed up on the shore in front of him. lol.
Blades of chaos: we do a little but of trolling
When Kratos said "They came back"😮
A metaphor for how Kratos will never escape his past
I love boat talk
Blades of Chaos got the new airtag installed on Kratos.
Atreus doesn't even know those blades saved his life
Now if only I can turn my house keys into keys of chaos.
Maybe then they’ll actually return to me when I lose them.
If you have an IPhone you should consider buying the apple AirTag for like 30 bucks. It’s a small tracker that sticks onto things
I love how he tried to play it off and then remembered Atreus actually gained some rep since last time and was like fuck it
I love how more open he is now
I always like to think of the blades never leaving him as the last "fuck you" to Kratos by Ares, that even if he dies, he will forever have to live with the weapons that created his suffering in the first place. Also metaphorically too, because he tried to literally escape his past by going somewhere else and yet those sins and thoughts never went away and never will. But he found peace in knowing he can't undo what he did, but he can own it and accept it by moving forward anyway. Great series. Love this shit.
That end line. "Besides I tried. .... They came back."
Made laugh the way Kratos said it. Like an Ex moved in next door lol.
It’s really that one parasitic friend that always comes back
They’re like herpes, with you til the end lol
According to the comic
Those blades are Kratos nightmare
He can't get rid of it
He only can keep it and those blades will follow him until death
"i tried. they came back"
I love how cryptic everything Kratos says sounds. When I’m reality he’s not being cryptic at all, that’s literally what happened😂😂😂
Kratos casually obliterating ship wrecks with his son on the front of the boat...
**Kratos in battle**
**blades randomly appear and slash through the enemies**
Kratos : Stop stealing my aces
Wow dialogue about the uses of the blade was foreshadowing the ending
So basically the blades are a toxic ex that can't let go even when you have another relationship
Its not about forgetting past boy, its about accepting it.
The blades:”golden bat laugh”
Kratos *tries to emplore wisdom* * also him* fuck it. They came back
The way he said "They came back" I
The amount of times he tried to get rid of them and they always come back in one way or another
The blades of chaos are like Glen Close in fatal attraction. No matter how hard you try to get rid of them, they always show up.
Blades of Chaos: I always COME BACK
I'd like to think his blades would magically come back as soon as he goes to sleep and he wakes up with them in his hands confused. More of a curse than a blessing.
The latest time he left the blades behind, they didn't come back to him because they knew he'd return for them. They allowed him a temporary respite because they knew it was just that, temporary.
This was actually mentioned in the novelization of the 2018 game during Kratos' boat trip back home to obtain them before going to Helheim. It mentioned that he threw them into the seas after finally settling with Faye. But when he arrived home, the Blades returned before him. That's why the only thing he could do is hide them. I remember there was a comic where Athena told him that one day he will need the Blades again. And lo and behold, it was revealed that he would use them to save Atreus.
One thing to note about Kratos is that we know he hates the blades while he loves the Axe. The blades represent his past and what made him a monster that he is ashamed of. While the Axe is from his wife, whenever he puts it down or anything, he places it nicely and properly. But with the blades, we see him just drop them on the floor because of how much he loathes them. But at some point later on in the game, he actually places them properly like he does with Axe. It's like by that point, Kratos finally accepts the blades as something that's part of him. I believe you can see him place the blades properly when he goes in the tent just before you go to sleep on the day before Ragnarok.
The inability for kratos to rid himself of the blades symbolizes his failure to run from his past, with said past, embodied by the blades, being a part of him that will forever remain. It’s cool to see how, through the friendship of Freya and Mimir, as well as his growing bond with Atreus, Kratos is slowly able to rid himself of the guilt surrounding his past life and embrace it, learning to accept himself for who he was and enabling him to focus on the man he wants to be.
Imagine two blades and chains dragging across the floor setting everything on fire.
The Blades of Chaos are still bound to his soul
When an object becomes bound to someone there's no getting rid of it no matter how many times you throw it away it will always come back
blade of chaos is an image of death, wherever you try to avoid it, it will still come to you, and in every wars and battle there will always be "death"
It’s a subtle thing but in ragnarok in a section he threw the blades away carelessly but he was gentle with Faye’s axe. Show’s his hatred towards the blades
Everybody gangstah until Kratos starts speaking Greek ..
He needs to question his family genealogy
