I am so glad you have started writing the ingredients and amounts in the description, as well as the actual description of how to make the dish. Saves me time. I just bought Chai, Chaat, and Chutney and the 30 Minute book. I already own and use often, the Healthy Vegetarian--OMG the little stuffed potatoes and spicy nuts! I make them very, very often! They love the nuts at my work! I make other things too, of course, but those leap out as favorites. I also own and use the Healthy Indian. You have done for Indian food what Julia Childs did for French cooking--made it do-able for all.
Made this for dinner tonight! Just perfect! Exactly what I needed for an easy delicious crown pleaser (even though the crowd is just me and my husband) and we’ll be packing it for lunch tomorrow!
Made this for dinner and it was delicious. I didn’t have a lot of chicken so I added cauliflower to make up for the smaller amount of chicken. Turn out fantastic
Oh lordy, Chetna. This looks so delicious and not difficult to prepare. I absolutely love your recipes. Can't wait to try this one. Thank you for sharing this yummy recipe.
I had all the ingredients at home and was intrigued to try this. I couldn’t find where the recipe was listed but I rewatched the video and made notes and my goodness I’m glad that I did. This was the nicest chicken curry I have ever made. I’ve only just stumbled on your channel Chetna but I’m certainly going to check out more of your recipes. Thank you so much for sharing your skills.
Thank you so much..I made this tonight, only had chicken tenderloins, but it totally worked..next time, and there will be a next time..I will use chicken thighs..made exactly according to your recipe and it was perfection..husband loved it. A hard thing to do, surprise him with a new recipe. Married 67 years this November..thank you, thank you 💐
We’re in the final stages of remodeling our kitchen and I’ve been asking my family what they want me to cook first. This curry would be so appreciated because it’ll feel like a warm hug. Thank you, Chetna.
My favorite recipe of yours is the masala chai and the favorite mom’s chicken curry! Thank you for your channel! Yours is my favorite for practicing to make Indian cuisine
That was obviously delicious and I'm giving you my support to your channel 😊❤Watched it full with no skipping of all Ads. More power to your channel and I subscribed your channel ❤️❤️❤️
Wow! Such an easy recipe! I love Indian foods and so many recipes are just basic. With all the cultural foods it’s having the correct spices and herbs. Funny I have for a long time added cilantro fresh when I have it or just the cumin powder and a jiggle of lime juice to my pot of rice no matter the dish. We just enjoy the added flavors. We love your videos, thank you so much for sharing. By the way my carnivore son is so happy to have a vegetarian dish and some Naan with garlic and ghee!
It‘s so delicious! Immediately shares now my number one chicken dish of yours with the chicken in/with pickled spices from one of your books 🥰 (love the others as well of course 😄)
I’m new to your site and have just made this recipe exactly as you described. It is delicious, I’m so excited to have my family and friends taste such a lovely, flavoursome curry. Thank you so much .
Aloha, Chetna! Thank you for this “fast” recipe - very much appreciated. I usually make your Punjabi-style Chicken Curry, but that takes quite a bit of time, so it’s nice to make something quick 😊 🇺🇸 🇬🇧
Chetna, I love the fact that you can never finely slice the onions. I can never do that too but watching your videos I feel like one dosent need to be a perfectionist, all that matters is the lovely food full of flavour and love. I am definetly going to try this recipe. 👌
New subscriber here! Love this recipe. Would love to see a recipe for Dahl Makhani and I'd like too see how you make your rice. Thanks for making Indian food easy! Love the channel ❤️
I'm definitely putting together my list to make this, looks amazing! Would you kindly cook a chicken vindaloo? My goto meal is a nice spicy chicken vindaloo and lots of garlic naan to dip :)
Wonderful simple recipe! I made it last night per your very clear instructions (with fenugreek) -everyone loved it!! Will make again; and will double it for more leftovers! Wonder how it would freeze? Thank you!
I am not an Indian cook and I have everything you named in my kitchen! Oh I’m making it tonight for dinner. I’m also going to put some of it in little pies that I can freeze then air fry for the kids later
Love a chicken curry and all its variations, dried fenugreek is one of those ingredients we went looking for following one of your recipes, didn't have to look too hard our corner Asian store had it, lovely smell and flavour.
I'm not sure what she does but the way I make it is toast them in oil first, throw in the uncooked rice and also slightly saute it and then add the water and cook as usual.
@@lishaalmeida That sounds like the absorption method. Chetna's mom did that type of recipe. I'm interested in her process for when she's actually boiling/straining.
Methi, or in English, it's fenugreek. She used dried, ground here. Chetna has several recipes on her channel using fresh methi -- stews, flatbreads. Wonderful taste. If you garden, it's easy to grow.
I've since found a good way of prepping them now, prick the potatoes all over then stick in microwave for 5 or 10 mins depending on how many, then they don't take long at all to cook in a curry
I think it is because potatoes need a lot of hot liquid around them to cook well, and the curry (or whatever) “sauce” just isn’t enough liquid in order to do that, so yes, just cook separately and add later. I do it too.
Chetna, I've been looking for you on Food52. I didn't know you had a UA-cam channel. I just found out when you mentioned it at the end of your funnel cake video on Food52. Subscribed!
Omg !!! Thank u so much for cooking this curry using boneless chicken ( i hate to see bones in the food ) lol . Looks so delicious , ill cook this curry next saturday ❤️❤️❤️
Hi all , cooked this with chicken drumsticks as its cheap. Did you per recipe method then transfered to oven dish making sure potato's were covered with sauce and cooked for an hour or so then another 20 mins after adding mushrooms and fresh coriander. Served with rice, really nice even Son had 2nds, after watching the video seems your tsp measurement is larger than mine lol
That looks delicious 😋! May I ask how do you make your gravy nice n thick? I always have that problem. My sisters joke around by saying 'we are having chicken soup today ' 😁
I would probably cook it with less liquid or reduce it for longer and it eat it with a chapati or naan bread. Tomorrow's curry may well have been decided!
Chetna, if you want to save a step with garlic cloves... You can just smash them and peel them. There really is no need to cut the root side off. Hope you have an epiphany from my comment.
Hey 👋 do you actually eat these foods that you cook? You don’t have the typical Indian body type, so I’m just wondering. I’m on a diet now in my 30s and I’m struggling with wanting to eat Indian cuisine and trying to lower my body fat percentage, which is caused by all the starchy carbs and refined carbs of our foods.

Yes you can! but the flavour will change completely

Hi There, I would normally add ginger to a curry too. Is there a reason why I shouldn’t With this recipe? Can’t wait to try. X
Yes you can

Is butter, peanut oil or canola oil okay?

Looks fantastic! A question on your boiled cumin rice: Did you just add the cumin, or toast in oil then add water?
I'm not sure what she does but the way I make it is toast them in oil first, throw in the uncooked rice and also slightly saute it and then add the water and cook as usual.

Hello 😊, what is the name of the spice there is no substitute for , please ?
Methi, or in English, it's fenugreek. She used dried, ground here. Chetna has several recipes on her channel using fresh methi -- stews, flatbreads. Wonderful taste. If you garden, it's easy to grow.
May I use fish instead of chicken and put it in after the potatoes have cooked a bit?
Yes
I can never understand how chef's are able to cook potatoes in a curry in half an hour mine always takes about an hour till they soften
Same here. I usually precook them halfway before adding them.
Same here..
American "chili powder" is mostly salt with some ground cumin, paprika, onion, garlic, and maybe cayenne.
What is in the "chili powder you use?
Just pure red chilli powder.

Chetna, if someone does t want to add dairy to the meat, what could replace the yogurt? I would use coconut milk or cream to replace the cream.

Dont use coconut milk as it changes the flavour completely. Skip it
