The part about "making sense" is what I call fast food references. People easily identify with what they already know, and it's one of the laziest ways to create something, similar to a FanFiction. No need to create something that stands on its own, just make a bunch of references and the peasants will be happy and gleeful.
Andor really met a lot of these criticisms head on. One singular creative vision, an emphasis on world-building and practical effects, and layered but easily understandable and sympathetic characters. It has almost no fan service at all and it’s beautiful.
I was at a loss when I watched the first episodes, not knowing who was targeted by the show, and why it felt so disheartening. You really put it into words perfectly, the first 6 movies really pulls everyone together, no matter your age, it is an universal demographic. Thanks for the great video (even if it's a rant haha)
8:43 He's not just bold, Obi-Wan is brave, he is a hero, and a damm good hero. He is the combination of cheeky, sardonic, wise and brave. It was depressing to see him cower scene after scene.
It’s definitely depressing but I can also believe it happening after the fall of the Republic. Trauma can change people. Still might not be the best creative choice though.
I really liked only one of the Disney Star Wars movies and that was Rogue One. That one was really great and I think it is because it incorporated this exact Star Wars formula you are talking about.
The worst part about these shows is that The things that you're seeing don't even look right. In the movies everything that you see looks like what it's supposed to be (when the characters are in a forest, it actually looks like they're in a forest, same when they are in a city , or when they're in a desert, etc.). In these shows though, every place looks like it's shot in a room.
This is my favorite explanation of the problem with "adventure" films nowadays. Some of the great quotes... "Like walking through a star wars gift shop" "Just because you can feed your kids trash doesn't mean you should" "Breaks the illusion of an authentic world" This stuff is making kids dumb. It's like if your diet was only corn syrup. All these garbage shows suck by design. They suck in your attention and give nothing back. The first thing you do after watching one is go looking for food because of the physical empty feeling in your stomach. Fantastic video.. lot of clarity and depth. I'm subscribing for sure my dude.
How are you not pulling in more views I legitimately don't understand, your videos are of exceptional quality and I hope people who stumble on your channel will share the same thoughts.
Ive been binging this guys channel its criminal that he doesnt have more subscribers than someone like jack doherty. this guys content is creative captivating insightful and original. The opposite of some of the most popular youtubers today
@@AlexBoucher Your pacing is just fine I'm very disappointed with Star Wars in general it's really fallen off a cliff in terms of quality. What you did cover was just fine but Disney have no excuse for screwing this up
i like how these videos are of simillar quality (good) yet most only get a few thousand views and then theres just one video with 2 million looks kinda suspicous ngl
It's hard to say who dropped the ball the hardest with the Sequels...was it JJ Abrams for doing a soft reboot of the original in The Force Awakens and breaking the narrative flow? Or is it RJ for completely throwing our expectations out the window (for better or worse) and breaking the lore? Or is it JJ for his utter failure at tying all of it together as something resembling a satisfying, cohesive package? Just a bewildering, ultimately disappointing mess. And yes...would have benefited so much from a singular vision.
While I do think obi-wan could have been better, but I did like the dynamic between obi, the force and vader, especially the finale. It might be because I can empatise with the traumatic experience changing people part. I would have loved to see the old obi come back more profoundly though.
This is actually sad but it needs to be said and heard and heeded especially . Easier said than done apparently but I felt the timelessness of proper Star Wars in your video. Someone who cared about source material and not just symbolic skins on interchangeable formulas.
I thought the same with The Mandalorian. Could not get into it. Then I see Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor coming out and I'm concerned and not interested. I was once excited for Disney's buying Star Wars. I think they did a good job. Up to a point. Now they seem to be making content. Not Star Wars.
I hate everything about the Disney Start wars franchise, but $#%& banter, I don't know why Americans are so obses with that shitty concept, I felt in love with light sabers and cool lightsabers fights.

Guess I have to watch Andor now!
Alex did you watch Andor?
The rest of this great video aside, your editing and production really stands out! Great work!

I also thought rogue one was the only redeemable one.
I'm 100% with you

yeah it all looks cheap
funnily enough, that's often exactly what they did

Binging your videos now and just wish I had more time today. Truly excellent.
well-reasoned, well-edited. well done
I love your channel! Greetings from Frankfurt
your video quality & analysis is so stellar, it just doesn't make sense that you don't have more subscribers. subscribed halfway through the video
Dude, your videos are awesome! Keep on doing them. You will get many more viewers!
Im just waiting for that Max Rebo epic
The music biopic to end all music biopics
I couldn't even finish this video at 2x speed because Obi Wan was so boring. I've enjoyed your other critiques.
Damn, sorry about that. Was it the pacing of the video that was too slow or did you think the topic itself was boring?

something fishy is going on here

I don't have anything to say, but this is a good video and I want to boost your engagement for the algorithm
Are you exporting your videos with a variable framerate???
You did an excellent job explaining what makes Star Wars good. What aspect of The Last Jedi did you like?
here before 5k subs
While I do think obi-wan could have been better, but I did like the dynamic between obi, the force and vader, especially the finale.
It might be because I can empatise with the traumatic experience changing people part. I would have loved to see the old obi come back more profoundly though.
Great job!
Top Gun Maverick is more of a star wars film then the sequals
Great video ❤
Sending in comments for engagement metrics 😅
you liked Last Jedi???
dislike, not watching the other videos of the channel and making sure youtube doesn't recommend you again
FINALLY!
I thought i was the only one who felt like this. Does nobody see this? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!
This is actually sad but it needs to be said and heard and heeded especially . Easier said than done apparently but I felt the timelessness of proper Star Wars in your video. Someone who cared about source material and not just symbolic skins on interchangeable formulas.
Excellent. It's heartbreaking that SW sucks now.
Finally !!!
please tell us why Andor was the best star wars in decades
Give star wars to Denis Villneuve with complete freedom to do what he wants
I thought the same with The Mandalorian. Could not get into it. Then I see Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor coming out and I'm concerned and not interested. I was once excited for Disney's buying Star Wars. I think they did a good job. Up to a point. Now they seem to be making content. Not Star Wars.
Watch Andor. It’s the best Star Wars content since Empire Strikes Back.
I hate everything about the Disney Start wars franchise, but $#%& banter, I don't know why Americans are so obses with that shitty concept, I felt in love with light sabers and cool lightsabers fights.
Think yourself lucky they haven't made a C3P0 spin off.
so uh....creator man....ya been watchin aaaanyyy movies???
Thanks. Had not followed what has happened and that the whole thing was sold. - Saves plenty of my money not to have to watch that money-crap. THANKS!
This is the same argument as when Episode I came out.
You guys have one joke. Lol
modern star wars aren't star wars.
jar jar.
I'm so sad this show sucked 😭
Maybe do a second take after a cup of coffee?
Rian Johnson destroyed Star Wars.
