Steel Frame Wall Installation Tutorial (EP2)

In this episode, we will discuss the installation part of the wall in the overall structure construction. We use various tools such as impact drills, spirit levels, electric screwdrivers, air guns, ink tanks, measuring tapes, marking pens, and utility knives. The materials we use include chemical anchor bolts, HTT4 anti-pull connection pieces, L-shaped connection pieces, large washer nuts, moisture-proof cushion layers, and external hex self-tapping screws.
A flat foundation is crucial before starting the construction of the upper structure. We use a spirit level to correct the flatness, which should be within plus or minus 2 millimeters. If not, the foundation needs to be reprocessed using self-leveling cement, steel plate, cement board, etc.
According to the construction drawings, we locate the wall by checking the size of the foundation. We then mark the hole positions for anchor bolts, ensuring they are centered, and drill the holes to the required depth. After cleaning the debris, we pre-embed the rivet bolts. The moisture-proof cushion layer of the foundation is then installed, and we begin to assemble the wall. After each wall is installed, we need to correct it horizontally and vertically. Wall correction is very important. After correction, fix them with lateral and diagonal supports.
The light gauge steel wall stud and connector are connected using cross-shaped self-tapping screws. The number of nails used is determined by the structural node design. The connector is fixed on the upper, middle, and lower positions on both sides. When the drawing has special requirements, an S-shaped fixing method is used. At the combined column connection, square connector pieces should be fixed on the upper, middle, and lower positions on each side.
In L-shaped or T-shaped wall corner connections, an L-shaped connector is used for connection when the studs spacing is too close. When connecting the lightweight steel composite beam and wall, the position of the connecting key and the number of nails should be referenced to the corresponding node diagram.
