    Man, I would've loved to do EPIK, but not being able to choose where I live was a big deal breaker for me.

      This was for sure one of the main things for me! I was so worried about where I would end up. Now that I’m settled here I’d be more open to it, but before coming I definitely wouldn’t take that risk 😅

    could you perhaps do a video on the steps to become an english teacher in korea? for example what degree we need. oh BTW I LOVE UR VIDEOS:)

    • @ameliaabroad9278
      @ameliaabroad9278  2 роки тому +1

      Yes definitely! I can definitely make a video about the requirements soon, but there aren’t many, you can have any degree it doesn’t matter! If you’ve got a degree and a clean criminal record, that’s pretty much all you need ☺️☺️ and I’m so glad you like the videos! thank you so much for watching 💗

      I did also make a video on how to get an English teaching job in South Korea so that might help! ✨

    Hi! I am planning to move to Korea next year to teach English and I am hoping to apply to teach at a hagwon rather than the EPIK program. Could you give me some tips on where and which one to apply?

    • @ameliaabroad9278

      I'd recommend looking at Daves ESL cafe, whizz.quv.kr/, Korea Bridge and "english teachers in South Korea" facebook groups to look for jobs. There are so many hagwons!

    :3 Hey there Amelia thank you so much for this video, I am currently in this exact same boat as you. I was wondering for your Hagwon search did you use a recruiter? Would you possibly be willing to do a video or share some tips on how you searched for your Hagwons? I currently have a recruiter and I am very stuck! I am very similar to you and would like to be in a specific area of Seoul. I originally have decided to apply for Epik becauce of the "hagwon horror stories" but the more i hear the more i feel similar to you where i feel those people maybe werent ready to teach in Korea dn thats why. You seem to reccommed Hagwons pretty highly. I am aloso weary of Public schools because ive hear cthe stories of "Oh i have 4 diffeent schools I work at and have to travel to and i live in the middle of no where." EPIK i hear is also changing their holidays and will possibly go to the same as Hagwons.. So now after your video I think my opinion has changed ahahha.

    Unfortunately I didn’t believe the horror stories either. I took them with a grain of salt. Then got screwed on my contract, humiliated, and nearly attacked by my boss. I also outlasted a Korean teacher who started at the same time as me. She was treated worse than I was. My question to you is why do Hagwons have so many more horror stories than Epik if it’s really just the teachers’ fault?

    Very informative video, I have a question, which curriculum is used in Korea…is it the American or British curriculum? I’m looking for a place that teaches either or so I can get 1 year experience because I want to apply in UAE

      Thank you so much for watching! In hagwons, they follow their own curriculum but they often teach American English. I'm not sure about schools for older children as i've only worked in Kindergartens!
