I swear, so many complain that the covers are "too similar to the original". Then when an artist actually uses Like A Version as an opportunity to make a song their own and actually switches it up, people hate because its "too different". Wtf guys, get over yourselves.

I saw Jamie T live in Newcastle last night. He was amazing.
All in honesty, I think this is a brilliant cover, I think changing the melody is inspired and it really works, and the bossa nova guitar goes perfectly with her vocal style.
I really love her version of this. I think her interpretation of it is awesome! I'm glad they film them as well, it's nice to be able to watch artists sing. Adds so much more expression and meaning to what's being sung.

I much prefer lisa's cover to the original, but whether you prefer the original or not, musically the cover is great and you have to give credit for doing such a different angle on it. i don't get the point in covers which offer nothing more than the original sung by someone else.
Exactly! it would be good if genres of all kinds did covers to one another's music a rock song into jazz, instrumental, into metal, or something soothing. Why doesn't it always have to remain to 1 type???? Experimenting with music and doing covers only opens up a door for new fans who would have never listened to the original country or rap or sock song.

Can we all remember a the fact it's called LIKE A VERSION not a fucking cover, if you play the exact same thing as the original that'd be shite. MY music teacher preached that the whole point of music is to express yourself your way not someone else's way. SO she or anyone can play/cover a song however the fuck they want.

I didn't love that, but that's why music is so great, there's so much variation in expression and it's never going to appeal to everyone. Very interesting take on a great song. Keep it up Lisa.

She and other musicians will converge at Binbee in Central Queensland from October 24th-27th to show support for Frontline Action on Coal’s work opposing the Adani Carmichael mine.
Two of my favs from say 5 years ago. I wished she had picked a song from an earlier Jamie T album.
I love Jamie T's sound but this was a great and ambitious take on the single.

She looks like she's in serious emotional pain the entire time she sings this. I don't know if it's either really connecting with the song and doing it the justice she thinks it deserves, or she's just remembering something terrible that assimilates easily with this track. Either way it delivers a pretty emotional performance, her voice even wavers in some parts.

Covers aren't supposed to be compared to orignal, music is supposed to be interpreted by whoever is listening to it... thats why Artist A delivers it differently to Artist B... everyone needs to chill, music means something different to each individual, no ones better than anyone, relax.
