That's because I have frame-skip off. That setting basically makes it so that the game itself slows down for you when it starts lagging - so the game is actually running at that speed. If anybody wants a guide on how to deal with Mutant, here are the individual tips I've picked up from fighting him...well, >400 times. For phase 1: 1. You might want to time your wingbeats (release if going up, tap if going down) to maximise the distance you have vertically - you don't want Mutant to close you in on the ceiling or floor of the world. 2. Circular Phantasmal Eyes - Free damage. Stand a fair distance from him, and unload your damage while he holds still. 3. Moon Lord Eyes, Lasers, and Penetrator Twirling - When he stops emitting circling Phantasmal eyes, he'll try to "lock on" to you and fly above you, releasing three eyes - one shoots a quick, double-bullet, another emits a ring of eyes around itself and dashes at you, and the other fires a laser. Keep your eyes on them - you want to circle them, but don't stay too close. At the same time, he'll begin twirling his Penetrator and moving towards you. Move away from him (the opposite direction of his dash) when he starts doing this, and circle the eye in the direction away from Mutant, trying to maintain a constant circular movement around those eyes. The laser will try, and fail, to reach you, if you move at the right speed and angle. 4. Penetrator Dashes - The dashes don't take your lead, so these are simple to dodge. Make sure both of you aren't lined up in velocities (so moving away from him in a line as he dashes towards you in a line in the same direction), and dodging him shouldn't be an issue. 5. Ring of Lasers - The lasers are telegraphed, so they're straightforward to predict. Either find the sweet spot between two lasers so the alternating pattern doesn't hit you, or move into the space the lasers *formerly* occupied as those lasers disappear to dodge the next wave. 6. Spiral of Bolts, then Sword - Follow the spiral pattern to try to get behind Mutant, and below him. The spiral goes clockwise, so the ideal positions when the spiral starts is to the right of, and a bit above him. Still, the delay before Mutant pulls out his sword should give you enough time to get behind him where he can't reach you, unless you're in a really bad spot. The pattern repeats at this point. Phase 2 is where the real fight begins.
Phase 2 - Mutant will automatically transition to this if you beat his Phase 1 ten times in Eternity Mode. He'll start at a random attack in his pattern, so be prepared for anything. His pattern's normal order is: Phase 2.1: 1. Ring of Lasers - Same principle as Phase 1 - find the sweet spot in between the alternating pattern, or move into the space the lasers occupy as they disappear to dodge the next barrage. The lasers leave much smaller spaces than the lasers in Phase 1, however. 2. Predictive Penetrator Dashes and Eye Bolts - When Mutant starts this attack, he'll usually be above you. Some people try to psyche Mutant out into dashing into the same area, but I find this somewhat unreliable. Instead, I let him lock on to me (while I hold as still as possible), and move at the last second. You should be fast enough to get out of the way if you start moving the moment you see the predictive tracking line disappear. Move away from the center of the arena, but try to follow Mutant as well (since the arena moves with him). 3. Spiraling Eye Bolts - Get some distance, creasing into the spiral if you want, and line yourself up horizontally or diagonally. Use space and vertical movement to thread the needle in between the eye bolts once the gaps get large enough. Vertical movement is a lot more consistent than horizontal, in my opinion. Don't try to overcomplicate and move in big motions - simple up and down movements a few blocks in length will do the job. 4. Celestial Pillars - Mutant will be at a set position in a "square" around you when he starts this attack. Don't panic - just move fast, but not too fast, and circle towards him around the arena (for example - if he's on your lower right, circle counterclockwise from the bottom of the arena). The timing of movement is important, but it's somewhat intuitive as you learn the attack. In general: - When the first pillar hits, you want to have just started your first quarter of movement. - When the second pillar hits, you want to be ending your horizontal movement and trying to go vertical. - When the third pillar hits, you want to be ending your vertical movement and going horizontal. - When the fourth pillar hits, you want to be going horizontal. 5. Scythe Hexagons - Don't stick near those scythes. When this attack starts, you want to be consistently moving horizontally away from the center of the arena. Don't move too fast, as you'll bump into the edges of the arena - but recognise that the arena will move as Mutant moves, and he will follow you, giving you way more horizontal space than you may think. Line yourself up with the scythe hexagons horizontally and you won't have to worry about getting hit from random diagonal scythes. Know that Mutant gives you way more leeway than you might think to run away from the scythes horizontally! 6. Penetrator Dashes - Same principle as dodging any long-distance dashes of any boss. I find that moving in more or less a straight line horizontally, with a bit of zigzagging, while he tries to catch me diagonally is a solid strat - and he'll already be diagonal to me moving horizontally at the end of the scythe attack anyway. 7. Predictive Penetrator Throws, and Destroyers - He starts this attack by spawning the Destroyers. Move away from him horizontally. As he readies the Penetrator, telegraphing his throw with a line and tracking you, you want to continue moving away from him and also moving either up or down, essentially moving diagonally away from him. As he throws it, react to the noise, the line disappearing, or the noise, and alter your vertical movement while still trying to move consistently, horizontally, away from him - the Penetrator should sail either above your head or below your feet. Once he's finished a throw, move the opposite direction vertically and keep moving away from him. Essentially you want to move in a sine wave away from him, the peaks and troughs of the sine wave happening as he throws his Penetrator. Do this, and you don't have to worry about the Destroyers, either. 8. Blazing Deathrays and Skeletrons - He'll stand horizontal to you and telegraph this attack with a red circle. When you see that red circle, *immediately* move to the side of the circle (above or below him) with the darker colouring (the "mouth" of the "Pac-Man", if you will). Once the targeting reticles appear, adjust your position so that you're far enough away from him so that the gap between the Skeletron heads and the lasers are forgiving enough for you to fit. The size of the Skeletron heads is a bit more than the reticles, by the way, so it's better to be closer to the lasers, than the reticle. Don't be too close to Mutant as he starts this attack, tho - stay near the middle-outer edges of his circle. If you're not playing Eternity, this cycle loops. If you are, see the next comment.
Phase 2.2: 1. Fishrons - Six Fishrons line up on either side of you, either horizontally or vertically. Move perpendicular and away from them, but don't move in the direction parallel to them until they're completely gone - you might still get caught by one of them as you do this. 2. Moon Lord Eyes and Lasers - This is the same attack as in Phase 1, except Mutant dashes below you and starts to move away from you. I find I get the best luck actually following him as the dash ends, and then circling back away from him towards the three eyes as they start their attacks. Again, same attack as in Phase 1, so the same things still apply. Circle the eyes in at the right speed and angle, and the attacks will miss or fail to reach you. 3. Bomb, and Safe Spot - As the laser reaches its ending arc, Mutant will toss a bomb and create a moving safe spot above him. Get in that safe spot ASAP (without hitting the laser as it fades out, of course) to avoid the bomb, and be careful not to touch Mutant while you're in this safe spot. Otherwise, free damage. 4. Fishrons, again - Dodge as previous. 5. Telegraphed Slime Rain - Look for the gap in the reticles and stay there. Be careful not to touch Mutant yourself. If you want to maximise the time you have to reach the safe spots, you can essentially start at a high point before the slime rains down, and then move downwards and towards the safe spot. As the slime rain continues, fly back upwards to get a head start on reaching the next safe spot, and move downwards to give yourselves a few more moments to reach the safe spot before the slimes hit you. A new update made this attack's safespots significantly tighter in area, so the tip of "moving upwards in the safe spots and moving downwards if you can't reach the other safe spot in time" is more important now. Also, safe spots will always be created on the opposite side of the arena (so past Mutant, who is in the middle), so always be prepared to move a fair distance! 6. Spiralling Phantasmal Eyes - The pattern seems a bit overwhelming at first. Move away from him as the pattern starts and look or a way to "enter" the pattern in one of the safe spots. The spirals essentially create these moving safe spots that are rectangular slices of a circle, and as the pattern starts you can see the points at which you can enter these safe spots if you're far enough from Mutant so that the two spirals become distinct. The farther you are from Mutant, the bigger and more identifiable these circle slices will be - but don't run into the arena edges. Remember that the safe spots move - so you need to move to stay in them! 7. Penetrator Throws - When the Phantasmal spiral attack ends, you'll usually find yourself in the top or bottom of the arena. Move towards the center of the arena, away from the fading Phantasmal eyes so you don't run into them while dodging this attack. Keep a constant vertical movement to dodge his throws, throwing in a wing beat after each dash to maximise the vertical space you have to dodge his attacks. This is basically his phase 1 throws, but with less room to dodge and slightly faster. Light fades in on Mutant to indicate when he'll throw his Penetrator. 8. Plantera Leaves and Twinrangs - As the Phantasmal Eyes generated from his Penetrator throws begin to fade, you should move to the horizontal of Mutant near the edges of the arena and some ways up or down to avoid the last fading Phantasmal Eyes. Stay there, finding the safe spot in between the boomerangs Mutant throws out, and keep your eyes on the Plantera Leaves. He'll throw the bottom one, then the top one - you're fast enough and they're slow enough so that you can start moving either up or down when they start moving, and not get hit. I find reacting to them and moving when they move gives me the best chance of dodging them. Footnote: When the cycle repeats, don't be too eager with creating distance from Mutant, as the Twinrangs will still be active as he revs up his laser barrage, and moving away too early might make you run into one of them. You have more time than you think to avoid the laser barrage anyway.
Phase 3 - Desperation Attack: This phase is the reason I got rid of my dash item. 1. Alternating Laser Barrage - When Mutant starts this attack, you NEED to move away from him to near the edges of the arena. You straight-up won't get enough workable space to dodge the lasers if you don't. Again, you can find the sweetspot between the alternating barrages, or move into the current laser's space as they fade away to dodge the next barrage. It's worth noting that the sweetspot for dodging both barrages is perilously slim in this phase, so moving into the lasers as they disappear is one that might be a bit more consistent. 2. Spiralling Phantasmal Eyes - This attack mirrors the attack in phase 2.2 - except the safe spots are way smaller. Again, you want to create distance - the farther away you are from Mutant, the easier the safe spots will be to see, and to enter, and the more space you'll have within the sweet spot to move around in them. There's nearly no room for error in this iteration of the attack, so stay in that safe spot and move as precisely and slowly as you can. It's easier to do this if you're in the safe spot right before the one that would touch the edges of the arena - and remember, you need to move WITH the safe spot! Also, I believe safespots "autogenerate" (as in, you'll always get one) either directly horizontal to or vertical to Mutant near the edges of the arena (so in a rough "+" taking up the entire arena sign with Mutant at the center). You're going to go there anyways to dodge the lasers, but if you stand there you should be able to reach the safe spot pretty easily. 3. Accelerating, Spiralling Eye Bolts - Again, move AWAY from mutant, and do only precise up and down movements a few blocks in length. Don't move flashily or do big movements - precision is the key here. This will come down to practice, but if you can see the projectiles and have good control of your character, then this attack isn't one to write about - it sounds like shitty advice, but "just don't get hit" - the projectiles are slow enough to identify and get out of the way if they're close enough to pose a threat to you - it's just the quantity that might be an issue. 4. *"AAAAAA! THIS IS IT! ARE YOU READY, TERRARIAN?! EMBRACE ETERNITY...OR EVISCERATE UNDER MY HANDS!"* - Mutant lets out two sets of circular Phantasmal Eyes circling in opposite directions and moving away from him...and then a giant fucking deathray. Avoid the deathray at all costs by going through the spiraling Phantasmal Eyes. As the Eyes get farther away from Mutant, they become easier to pass through - but the distance you need to cover to get out of the deathray's distance becomes greater and greater. Mutant completes one full revolution of the laser, plus a bit more, and the laser gradually speeds up. I have no tips for this attack - you've come this far, and the only thing that matters is that you avoid that deathray at all costs (which does ignore s and ticks for like 1k damage), but pass through the circling eyes frequently enough so that you aren't pressured by the laser and forced to the edges of the arena (where avoiding the laser is harder, as you have more distance to cover). I find it's a bit more safer to move near the outer edges of the arena than the inner ones - it's easier to pass through the eyeballs, and getting out of range of the laser isn't as difficult as it is - you're fast enough, most of the time.
yeah its planned to get nerfed i think in the next update as a prelude for future updates and to balance with other mods if im not wrong. it might sound odd or dumb but im a little disappointed tbh lol. not because "oh op high damage go brrr," more because it was a fun quirk calamity had (ridiculous damage numbers in endgame that destroys everything to show how powerful your character gets). not a huge deal obviously but i just hope the calamity team brings other interesting and unique quirks to the mod in the future.

Roll over the Champions with a combination of Post-Provi gear and Fargo's items 4. Progress easily past Polterghast with Fargo's Forces and class Souls. 5. Beat Abominationn with Post-Polterghast gear, very easily. 6. Get the Soul of Terraria by farming the Champions. While you're at it, get the Soul of Dimensions, of the Universe, of the Siblings and all the other ones. 7. Win Calamity's endgame. No, seriously. You can kill Death Mode Yharon by standing still with the Soul of Terraria. Rev + Eternity AI frequently overlap with each other and create some really weird problems as well. Since both modes' AI changes are in effect, you have shit like Golem invincibility, Destroyer coiling but also trying to kill you at the same time (you just die), Retinazer laser + moving around at the same time instead of holding still and spinning, and other stuff like that. It's hard, yeah, but also sort of buggy and not generally the way to play the game unless you can put up with it. If you want a buttfuck hard Calamity experience, Eternity isn't the play (especially since Eternity bosses, who are vanilla, are much different from Calamity bosses and feel somewhat out of place). There is a new Calamity add-on that will eventually come out called Infernum made by one of the devs, which I hope to play, and which is said to be harder than Eternity. You can find a few videos online about what that'll be like - I believe the Profaned Guardians, DoG and Moon Lord have been showcased, but it's still very much WIP.
The boss is from Fargo's Souls (dependant on Fargo's Mutant) - my gear is from Calamity. I heavily recommend you play both of those mods by themselves before doing any cross-mod content. Additional QoL mods are Cheat Sheet, Alchemist NPC Lite, Unleveled for the health bar changes, and MapleStory Font for the text changes. I also use the Calamity Texture Pack. You can download and play modded Terraria using tmodloader on Steam - as long as you own the original Terraria on Steam as well. You can also download tmodloader by itself as well, but the Steam installation is much more straightforward.
lmao, true To be fair, it's the only way I can play the fight out without me dying instantly because of the way Mutant lags the hell out of my computer. "Lagging the game on purpose" is a valid argument, especially for using the Temporal Umbrella, but imo at the time I didn't think much of it. If it brings you (and me) any closure though, I'm trying to work on a Mutant hitless video without infinite flight.
Phase 2.2:
Phase 3 - Desperation Attack:
This phase is the reason I got rid of my dash item.
@@squirrelfart275 Chippy gaming would get a kick out of this!
@@froggie610 I know im copying all of this for him
Was testing the boss fight in maso mode with him enraged and he eventually just ze wardos you if you finish his last phase and I have no clue why
You absolute madlad
this just shows just how op calamity mod is when it comes to raw damage
yeah its planned to get nerfed i think in the next update as a prelude for future updates and to balance with other mods if im not wrong. it might sound odd or dumb but im a little disappointed tbh lol. not because "oh op high damage go brrr," more because it was a fun quirk calamity had (ridiculous damage numbers in endgame that destroys everything to show how powerful your character gets). not a huge deal obviously but i just hope the calamity team brings other interesting and unique quirks to the mod in the future.
@@Stormtide less calamity team and more like, the owner of the mod thinking the boss is too easy.
I hope they also lower boss hp, as to not make scal and yahron literal raid bosses.

its basically like defusing a bomb but you got two wires that work and either one will stop the timer. also the third wire just quickens the count.
I just came in because of Sakuzyo lol.
i feel like im playing touhou with this boss
insanely good nice job
Fun fact: Mutant is enraged, even if is calm or not in Calamity
that boss fight came straight out of Touhou
Now beat supreme calamitis and mutant at the same time.
enraged
heh. I'll try it. just now I'm going through calamity + fargo and since the whole pre-moon lord turned out to be very simple (I'm going through malice + eternity and only the devourer, skeletron, destroyer and golem caused problems), it will be fun... and what. Going through Fargo's post-moon Lord with Calamity items will be fun :)
2:38 dammm
two stupid questions, one what mod gives you that health bar at the top, two does the enraged mutant not have the other phase 2 theme? "Storia"
It's been a while, but the 1.3 mod that gives me the health bar is "Unleveled" or something similar.
The mutant enrage interaction with Calamity as of tmod 1.4 has been removed. I believe Storia plays when you fight masochist mode Mutant, which is Mutant on Eternity + Master. In 1.3, he only had Steel Red and rePrologue, I believe.
impressive
why is this whole thing like 2x slower what

ig its legit he took damage :)
How and why
Megashark + Clorophyte bullets still destroys it

this boss took me 200+ attempts. i hate it.
im new to fargos and dont know what mods to use, ill also want to try eternity mode at its hardest difficulty
Make sure to play Fargo's just by itself, not with Calamity. They don't go well together, especially Eternity.
@@squirrelfart275 in what ways is the game bugged. I honestly had to turn off revengence mode on only the golem fight due to the immortality bug but other than that I'm not sure in what other ways. I would honestly love to know as I'm very curious. Like a video on how certain mods together break progression or how they make certain mods unplayable/unbalanced to the point of busted. Fargo's + Calamity playthrough post-ML becomes very odd. In general, this is how my experience went:
1. Right out of post-ML, craft the Crucible of Cosmos and get class souls (not that hard)
2. Beat Providence and Dragonfolly with infinite flight and overtuned accessories
3. Roll over the Champions with a combination of Post-Provi gear and Fargo's items
@@squirrelfart275 In other words, you're saying that having Calamity with Fargo's fucks up Post-ML progression, making it easier? Sounds nice.

how do you get enraged mutant?
Enable Calamity. Or use the Mutant's Fury item.
Wich mods are that? And where i get them
The boss is from Fargo's Souls (dependant on Fargo's Mutant) - my gear is from Calamity.

This dude turned on frame skip and lagged his game on purposed ro dodge properly lol
lmao, true
To be fair, it's the only way I can play the fight out without me dying instantly because of the way Mutant lags the hell out of my computer.
"Lagging the game on purpose" is a valid argument, especially for using the Temporal Umbrella, but imo at the time I didn't think much of it.
If it brings you (and me) any closure though, I'm trying to work on a Mutant hitless video without infinite flight. I don't plan to use the summons and I'm fighting in an arena world (so just platforms and nothing else), so the fight should be way faster and less laggy.
can't blame him for lag
