Very interesting historical, technical, and comparative overview! Love that stuff... Thanks, James!!! Hope your cold, (sniffles), gets better... and is that a Duke - lol/Detroit/Magnum PI hat on your shirt? ~* )
Jack Swenson I have always wondered just how many P7 K3's were imported. You said the American import guns Serial #'s started with USA 001. I saw Ian McCollum on Forgotten Weapons do a segment on the P7s at H&K. The P7 K3 example he had happened to be that K3 with the 001 Serial #. I own a K3 that is Serial # 07X with a .22 conversion unit with the same IH Date Code. My only complaint is that the .22 conversion shoots high. Are there front sights available for this Conversion Unit that will allow one to correct this? I always thought the elevation adjustable rear sight on the .380 slide would have been better utilized on the Conversion slide.
On the P7 series, elevation adjustments are made by swapping out the front sight with a higher or lower model. I believe HKPARTS still has those available in the P7M8 section.
@@teufelshundtactical I've seen front sights for the P7 for sale, just haven't seen any that say they fit the K3. Would they be the same? Also do you have any idea about how many K3's were imported?
@@jackswenson6004 They are the same. I’d have to dig up info to get import information, but many, including my own were imported through other companies than H&K itself.
Hey James, I have a PSP, what's the best way to check a gas piston and cylinder for fit ?, ie: how do I know if either is worn out ?. There's no obvious increased blow back but I only shoot it a couple times a year so there's not much comaparision to reference. She has a new Wolf recoil spring I installed 10-12 years ago that maybe has 200 rounds on it. Do you have an email so I can contact you directly ? Derek
Hey James just getting into these awesome pistols! I have an opportunity to buy a p7k3 but the frame and slide serial numbers do not match. Will this effect the value at all?
@@teufelshundtactical I meant the one with the T-handle. You don't mention it in your video, but you can see it in one of the boxes. I did a search on HKPro forums, and someone said it was a scraper used to clean the piston directly. Do you not recommend using this? Were these not standard issue with P7's?
Well, time to badger HK into making the P7 series again so I can feel comfortable carrying a P7.

I would love to get my hands on one of these

“Numbers matching” is more valuable.
What would ballpark value be at?

Ok I thought so. thanks anyway
What is that T-shaped wrench tool used for?
Cleaning the chamber.

@@teufelshundtactical nevermind. I just found another post that says it's specifically for the cleaning the .22 barrel.
James, what is the current ‘go to’ source for buffers since H&K has run out of them years ago?
Oops, just saw the link...
I linked that in the description.
@@teufelshundtactical yes, I saw. Commented that I saw. My bad....
How would you even find magazines for those?
@@joshuasmith6346 It just takes resourcefulness and cash.
I bought one new in 1983 from Interstate Ams for $443.
The P7K3 was not produced in 1983. You might be thinking the P7. The P7M8, M13 and K3 came later.
All that hardware looks like $100,000!
