One thing I haven't seen is the run down if the weight savings of your deletions. Will they translate into improved performance. Noticable, measurable performance improvemens?

They should. I have accurate corner weight scales that will tell me how light the car is.
Also the rotating mass considerations will be discussed at some point. Ie light weight clutch and 15"x 8" wheels.
There will be lots of performance measurements to come😄

Like your videos and the detail your putting into the car. What is your background in the auto body business.

No! I'm not in the car resto biz. My career is in mechanical engineering.

You didn't really show how to do it?
What about aligning the hinges and spacers etc
I have a similar problem with an aftermarket deck lid but I need to take the hinges off to re align
    Nothing on here helps

Because there isn't enough adjustment on the hinges, unless you want the decklid to hang out too long in the back. If it was an adjustment I would have done that instead of cutting and welding the seams.
Are you looking for an easy way?

That was a lot of massaging to get it right. You're making me think I need to buy a TIG instead of using my MIG. Fortunately I don't have to add material to the edges of my panels.

I'm a big fan of TIG...big surprise huh? If you want to come play with my machine you are welcome to try it.

Why is every P car build these days a backdate

    • @GarageTimeAutoResto
      @GarageTimeAutoResto  6 років тому

I remember in the 80's the trend was to forward date the old longhoods to look more modern. Who knows what trend will be next?

Widebody LS I guess? I have a 70 E tub sitting under my carport that was hacked into an SC/Carrera update. Like "cut the hood and fenders with a grinder, sheetmetal screw in a rear light panel, slather on 1 in. of bondo over the flare seams and call it good" hacked. Might get around to putting it right one day ...

Hacks are everywhere unfortunately. Would you be so kind to sell the drivers side SC/Carrera flare? I'm assuming you are going back to the narrow body. The drivers side flare is preventing me from primer/paint!

What u mean? Porsche company does not sell any backdates. RUF had may customers, who asked for the old classic design with a modern technic, so they update old cars as well as they build new ones in the classic 911 look.
