Tom, I don’t know if you get many negative comments. If you do , please ignore them. Your workmanship, “budget “ do it yourself approach is just awesome! I gave up on Porches a long time ago because of the associated with them. But I enjoy watching your journey. Best Regards, H.R. Randolph
I get negative comments, but they don't bother me. The positives far out way the negatives. I enjoy all the people of met here with this car. Not sure what is associated with vintage Porsches.
wow, looks amazing! There's nothing more satisfying in a resto than perfect panel gaps, some (self proclaimed) pro's need to take lessons from your videos
Such nice work, Tom. Every car has a view. A certain angle that catches and pleases the eye. I get why the one you like hits that note for you. The bumperettes fit perfectly. 👍👍
I'm super picky...I'm handy so a restoration is in my future but I didn't intend to do any bodywork. I have to be honest, when I saw some of your early videos, you reminded me of me in regard to doing this DIY - and in my brain, bodywork was going to be one of those things nearly impossible to get right. I can always see little waves and flaws when a car has been repainted... Yours came out excellent - to the point where it gives me some confidence to at least give it a shot! I'm going to need to go back and watch all your videos again :)
Bodywork is not my favorite type of work, but it's very doable. Today's materials are pretty easy to work with. The hard part is to know when to say when. Or how good is good enough. So I just overkilled it
congratulations Tom. i know you’re proud and you should be. enjoy the fruits of your labor. i don’t think it’s a coincidence your lic plate contains the letters SXY. bravo. 👏🏼 work of art. 🧀 ✨
The fitment of the panels and gaskets make such a difference. I see 911/912 for sale some with very a high asking price but you look at alignment of turn signals and hood gaps it's apparent that there was a lack of "attention to detail". Very nice detail on your car!
Thanks! I see this too on various cars. Once the car is painted it's tough to fix some of these things. Probably why they are for sale. They'll correct it in the next one, ha ha.
Suggestion on the door mirror. I started with 3” Durrant round mirrors which are next to useless, I then went to 4” which are a little better. Then got some original 4” which had lost their original glass and replaced the glass with convex 4” mirror glass from a set off Amazon and now they are actually practical and useable.
All the work that you put into this really paid off! Again amazing job an inspiration! There must not be much things left that you ‘’hate’’about this car left 😂. Would be nice to have like a track time with the 4 cylinders that you could compare with the new engine when installed 👌🏻
Oh, I'm going to do another 5 things I hate about this car, ha ha. The first 5 are mostly fixed. I do hope to do before and after track days with the 4-6 cylinder swap
Dang Tom, all that hard work really paid off. It's awesome!! Well done. I change my vote...I said satin on Instagram, but now that I see you have two chrome mirrors, the bumpers should be chrome as well. Any thoughts on a passenger side mirror? My jag doesn't have one on the passenger side and I miss it. Going to add. Again, well done. Looking forward to seeing it in person some day. Cheers.
Hi Jeff. There is kind of a polished theme going on with the trim and the wheels etc. I prefer the look without and I met a guy yesterday who found a cool mirror that is removable and goes inside the car. It's convex and really helps on the track apparently? Hard to describe, but I'll get one and make a video
My favorite two colors together, my grammar school colors. Good work! Does Mac still have the four banger in it? Sounds good. Son go to Ha’v’d or MIT? I was home M-Th this week with Omicron. Worked on Mig welding 19 gauge sheet metal. Learned something every day. Wish I had learned my Thursday lesson earlier. That was that I had my helmet set too sensitive. Turned it to zero and my welding improved drastically.
Still has the four in it! My kid is at Northeastern. Big shock from California! Glad you are getting that helmet dialed in. It should go dark right away when welding. I use shade #9 when working with thin sheet metal. Ie low amps. Have fun!
lovely panel fitment! your hard work paid off :) what brand windshield seal did you use? looks like a good fitment. my seal shrunk in the top left corner so I'm looking for a replacement.
Thanks! I appreciate people noticing because I worked hard on it! The windshield rubber is URO version 2. They only sell version 2, but I think it's a bit wider to solve the problem you are having. Sometimes you can hammer the trim to force the seal outward too. Here's the video where we installed the window. Best of luck🤞 ua-cam.com/video/ZvY7tX9161I/v-deo.html
I'd love to tour Ireland someday! Sometime I get tired of living in a desert! That's an autometer tach that I found at a swap meet. It fits the hole perfectly! It was meant to be temporary tach because my stock 6 cyl tach won't work my current 4 cylinder engine. The autometer tach is configurable to 4/6/8/10 cyl. Its a stepper motor tach with no needle bounce and it's very accurate. I've learned to like how fast it responds, so I may keep it! It also has a memory function and shift light options! Or I may try to combine the guts of this tach with the stock vdo face and bezel?
@@GarageTimeAutoResto thanks for the reply you are more than welcome to come to Ireland July and August would be the best time of year to come weather wise
Thanks. I know the Carrera RS came with a ducktail which I like, but I also like the smooth back. I might look for a second decklid with a duck tail and switch them out from time to time
Love the lines of the early 911/912's

Gaps are so important, very few cars have the right look
Think you've nailed it 👍
Thanks man👍
The car looks fantastic. You should be very proud of your work.
Thanks so much
It looks great. It's always a treat watching you work.

Absolutely gorgeous! You did a fantastic job on this car. Imagine a 3.2L on this beauty. :D
Thank you so much. I'm also looking forward to that 3.2L

Thanks man! Wonder how many thought I'd never get this far?
Erwin Komenda’s designs seem to look good from all angles, especially the 356.
You should be very proud of your work, it is a very beautiful car.
Thx. 🙏
This is an absolutely awesome Porsche! .. You made a great job, mate ...
Thank you so much, it's been a fun project and will continue to be! ♥️❤️

Thx👍
your car looks fabulous, tom!!! can't wait to see it with the 3.2! :)
Thanks! 3.2's for everyone
Nicely done.
Love it! Looks great. Can’t wait to see the flat 6 and oil cooler. California weather is best. Very cold here in Maryland. Cheers 🍻
Thx. I'm really looking forward to the engine swap too. I haven't purchased an oil cooler yet, but I'm praying it fits ok.
Beautiful work, hours well spent , congrats

great job tom would love this car . please fit euro head lights with chrome bezzels and brite trim in font screen
Are you referring to the oil cooler hole? I was thinking of a black mesh to go with the black decklid grill. What are your thoughts?

Love it! Really like how tires fit wheel wells. Would you mind repeating wheel and tire sizes ( what brand tire) What are the plans for interior?
Thx. Tires are Nankang SP-9. Super fun tires to learn on and they're good! 225/60/15 rear 205/60/15 front.
My fenders are rolled which helps.
Interior will remain painted for the most part. Maybe do door tops, dash top and dash and call it done.

Hi Tom watching your videos all the way from Ireland
What tachometer is that

Yep, from teespring. Please search ahh garage time teespring. I'd appreciate the support too!
She's a beaut! But, to me weird without a rear spoiler. It needs it to go with the flares and front bumper. My 2 cents.

It's an early Porsche color - Bahama Yellow
