    Thank you for this. Picked up pickleball and have lost 50 pounds. Best shape of my life, but I’m experiencing exactly what you’ve shown. Can’t lift my right leg up while laying down as it’s painful and feels weak!

    Thank you . Just want to know more if separately we can lift both legs but togeather can’t. What muscle is involved then

    • @More4Life
      @More4Life  6 місяців тому +3

      In most cases, if you can lift each leg individually but not both legs together, it's probably more abdominal weakness. Your abdominals need to be able to stabilize your spine flat on the bed/floor/table to allow your psoas (which attaches to the spine) to have a stable base to pull from in order to lift your legs.

    I got shingles on my left thigh a month ago the thigh still pains and is numb,cannot lift my left leg while lying down or when i have to sit in the car.I am on medicine Lyrica ,i am hoping with time there will be improvement till the course of meds finishes,or shall i go to doctor immediately.

    • @More4Life
      @More4Life  6 місяців тому

      Make sure your doctor is aware of the weakness if they are not already. Lyrica is a medicine for nerve pain - including Postherpetic Neuralgia (post-shingles nerve pain). Technically, it's an anti-convulsant meant to stop seizures. It doesn't directly affect the Herpes Zoster virus that causes shingles though. If the virus has affected the motor nerve, sometimes the only remedy is time... but again, make sure your doctor is aware of the weakness.

    I had surgery 2 weeks ago to repair a torn quadriceps tendon. I went to my post op visit today and my doctor wanted me to start lifting my leg like this with my immobilizer on. It hurt trying to do this and to my dismay I couldn’t do it.

    • @More4Life
      @More4Life  3 місяці тому

      Doing a straight leg raise uses all 4 quad muscles to keep your knee straight, plus the rectus femoris also flexes the hip. That can put a lot of tension through the quad tendon. The knee immobilizer takes some of that pressure off, but 2 weeks is still early in the healing process, so make sure to let your surgeon and PT know if it's hurting. They might want you to start with something less aggressive like a quad set and then progress to the straight leg raise as you're able. In any event, good luck with your recovery.

    Dr. Candy. What if I cannot lift both legs up same time. I have pain in back.

    • @More4Life
      @More4Life  4 місяці тому

      Lifting both legs at the same time is rather hard to do because it requires a lot of abdominal strength. In any event, if you're having back pain, see a healthcare professional in person.

    Is this common after having a full leg immobilizer? 7 weeks after broken patella. Struggling

    • @More4Life
      @More4Life  3 місяці тому +1

      It's possible. However, if it's only due to a broken patella 7 weeks ago and no other complications, it should be possible to regain the strength fairly quickly after you're allowed to start doing strengthening exercises. Good luck!

    • @More4Life
      @More4Life  Місяць тому

      I wish I had an easy exercise to give you that would fix the problem, but the unfortunate reality of the situation is that after 4 years and multiple surgeries there can be some permanent changes. That doesn't mean not to try, but you'd need individual guidance from a PT who has evaluated your particular situation and medical history in depth.

      Sorry to hear you tore a thigh muscle. Muscle tears do unfortunately take some time to recover. The best advice that I can give you over the internet is to listen to what your doctor and physical therapist tell you to do. I'm not sure which thigh muscle you tore, but here's a video about hamstring tears: ua-cam.com/video/RGfdMzXK9ds/v-deo.html

    This is the problem I’ve had for 14 yrs. I’ve been to orthopedic surgeons for hip and spine. I had a spinal fusion L3-5. It didn’t help. Pain in thigh is so bad. What specialist do I need to see to diagnose this? No one seems to be able to help. I fear it is too late to repair. I’m 72 and it is difficult and painful to walk very far.

    • @More4Life
      @More4Life  8 місяців тому +1

      The surgeon who did your surgery (if they're still practicing by this time) might be the place to start. If there's weakness lifting the leg lying on your back, the L2 nerve root exits between L2 and L3, just above the fusion. There's no guarantee that that's what it is, or that after 14 years that it can be fixed completely. A good physical therapist may be able to at least help decrease the pain and help you walk farther with what nerve function you do have though. Good luck! 🙏

      @@More4Life thank you. I am 8 months post op and only see nurse practitioner. I will try to make appointment with surgeon. I also have scoliosis, osteopenia so he didn’t do L2 as originally planned. I will not have another surgery because it was so painful with lack of proper pain meds. They say it is because of my age. It was brutal. I’m hoping PT will help. Thanks for your fast reply.

    • @More4Life
      @More4Life  9 місяців тому +1

      As the video mentions, this is really a problem you should get checked out in person by a healthcare professional. Numbness and weakness it your legs usually indicates a nerve problem, and the longer it goes on untreated, the greater the chance that it can become permanent.

    • @More4Life
      @More4Life  8 місяців тому +1

      How long has it been since the surgery? That's not easy to do right after the surgery due to scars and tissue healing. If it's been more than a few months though, make sure to tell your surgeon and physical therapist about it.

    I have trouble lifting my foot toward the opposite knee when sitting or standing, like when putting on socks. I can do it laying on my side. I also have trouble getting in and out of cars, I have to use my arms to move my body for that. Also climbing up onto a doctor's table or up into a high vehicle. These things feel like my body wont do what I tell it to rather than weakness. I have told doctors about it but they don't pay it anymind.

      @@More4LifeMy son has lost a large section of his pubis bone and had full hip replacement due to disease. We are on recovery stage and he can’t lift straight leg when lying down. Looking at muscle structure it appears the psoas curves around the pubic bone to pull the thigh bone forward and therefore pivoting up around hip joint. Looked at your other videos and will try some extetnal/internal rotation of the hip and see if that helps. Great videos by the way👍🏻Very helpful.
