    I used to have trouble like this and saw a chiropractor regularly. It was so bad, I eventually went to the ER after not being able to walk for a few days without assistance. It was then that I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, which went to my pelvic/groin area, causing weakness. It's not the news I wanted to hear, especially because I believed I was doing everything I could to ensure that my bones were healthy and strong. If anyone's going through this, I hope that you take my situation into consideration and get checked by a Dr before it's too late. UA-cam is great for self diagnosis when you can't afford to see a Dr or simply afraid to see one, just like I avoided it by going to a chiropractor instead. It is more common than you'd think, so get checked. In my case, it was a blood test that determined it, followed by a biopsy the following morning.

    For me, I have found boundless relief (and am now fully upright from bed) from steroid injections bilaterally to my back. The Pain Clinic gave me back a lot of mobility. May not work for everyone (nothing ever does), but personally speaking, this was the very best answer I could find for myself.

    Excellent video but what about us short folks? With most chairs, when I sit all the way back, my feet are off the floor and the backs of my knees become really uncomfortable. So I scoot forward to take the pressure off them which leaves my back unsupported.
    I understand that I can use a footstool in private but most of my time (at least 12 hours a day) is in public. You can't ask for a footstool in a fine dining restaurant or even McDonald's.
    Most boardroom chairs, vehicle seats and even park benches are at fixed heights.

    • @More4Life
      @More4Life  10 місяців тому +9

      I understand the struggle. I'm about 5'3". Footstool is definitely the "best" option, but not always practical as you mention. With boardroom chairs, often there is a handle under the seat to lower them. If not, you can put your feet on the spokes that hold the wheels. If you're out most of the time, you could take a lumbar support pillow like this one with you amzn.to/3DuNime. It doesn't raise your feet, but it does essentially bring the seatback forward. Yes, it is a bit of a hassle to carry around, but they're not that incredibly large, so it's a matter of deciding which is the bigger problem... the back pain or the inconvenience of carrying something.

    Good video... concise and clearly presented which makes me glad that your channel was randomly recommended on my home page.
    I am currently quite morbidly obese (hopefully this will change over the next while as I try to lose some weight) but I am curious as to whether the advise in this video would be modified in any way taking my weight (and the fact I carry most of that weight as an abdominal apron) into account.
    I am a 70 year female with a torn medial meniscus in my left knee from a fall many years ago (I opted not to have surgery and the symptoms are minimal and manageable now) but otherwise have no discernible arthritis or other leg or hip issues.
    I most definitely have the difficulty you describe, primarily upon standing after an extended period of sitting, so I will practice your advice as shown, unless there is anything else I need know.
    Thank you for addressing and illustrating this issue so well.

      You spend a lot of time on your toes rebounding, which can make your calves stiff. Stretching your calves after rebounding may help. If ua-cam.com/video/9MaOYIXmDao/v-deo.html
      Additionally, try doing this when you first get up from sitting

    I do not feel good with my back against the back of the chair. Actually, I have a lot of pain that happens in that position. Actually, our chairs are very poorly constructed for sitting because I think that the hips and thighs should be slightly higher than the knees ……also getting up, when there is a table in front of you, does not really allow for that kind of bending forward. I actually learned how to do this kind of rising that you’re teaching and I use it when I can no matter how graceful it looks!

Also, you have to step down out of the car to reach the ground or floor. Please address getting out of a vehicle!

    Thank you. Very helpful video. My problem is in the mornings when I get out of bed with a stiff back then into standing position I have to take baby steps for around 12 minutes until I can move without either stiffness or sharp lower back pain. Then I come right, and generally have no more problem with my lower back for the rest of the day. I am having treatment from a Chiropracter and that is helping me alot, but your video will also help me with my specific problem of getting up and moving normally after a night's sleep or going to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

    So am so thankful to see how it is best to handle this pain after sitting or lying down too long or just not doing it properly.
    Glad to find a way to help rectify this to some extent. Do not like people knowing I have such problems.
    Appreciate the lessons to help alleviate some of the problems these various diseases cause one, when we least expect it. Most would never have dreamed I would have problems in functioning during my lifetime. People know I have had in the past the ability to dance, as took Tap, Jazz. Ballet and Baton lessons until I became of age. Walked stairs several times a day, and now cannot handle much of what I used to do.

    • @More4Life
      @More4Life  5 місяців тому +1

      I can't say for certain what's going on in your case. If the "softness" is from swelling, sometimes swelling can drain down your legs (i.e. from your knees) and pool in your feet. If that's the case elevating the legs when sitting may help. If it's more of a numbness in the feet, this video may help: ua-cam.com/video/Ei6hqLLF5_8/v-deo.html In either event, it would be a good idea to see a healthcare professional about it.

    That's how I was when I bent over to tie my shoes .
    Went to Chiro and was adjusted. My low back where there's two bones you can feel one was lower than the other . Causing pinch in sciatica.
    Now days after adjustment I'm sore near hip and side/ front thigh is this normal to have soreness days later

    • @More4Life
      @More4Life  3 місяці тому +1

      In general, you should feel better after getting treatment. Certainly let your chiropractor know about it so that they can modify the treatment approach the next time you see them. Being a little sore in the lower back can happen from time to time, but I'd be a little more concerned if the treatment is making the sciatica / leg symptoms worse.

    I really get this problem after intense exercise like 2 hour of playing tennis. I can hardly get up from the kitchen table without holding onto something to stabilize the situation. Are there some exercises available to help get through the cool down period? I also do lots of yoga and that first forward fold of the day can be a challenge. Thanks for the valuable input.

    • @More4Life
      @More4Life  10 місяців тому +3

      I recently started playing tennis again and notice this a little after playing for a few hours as well. When you're in the ready position for that long, your hip flexors do get tight, so stretching them can help, particularly right after you get done playing BEFORE they've had a chance to stiffen up. ua-cam.com/video/KteXU8gs-bM/v-deo.html
      Stretching your quads can also help if your thighs get stiff/sore. ua-cam.com/video/iC7GvBkePgc/v-deo.html Some quad stretches help stretch both the quads and the hip flexors
      As to the yoga, ease into the poses until you get loosened up.
