I got 6 Hosim RC over the years. The brushless (Q901) destroyed in 2 weeks, its just too powerfull for the tires and rims, the tire wear off like crazy. Now Im running with my kids 3x 9130 with different covers (pickup, side by side, car). 2 old ones are used for spare parts. Takes lot of spare parts since it will get damage if you jump a lot or go crazy. My best setup is with upgraded to oil shocks, wheelie bar, t-plug batteries, metal rods, and I run 11.1V 3S battery. It is quick and last a long time. I also use a cheap chinese lipo charger so it charge pretty well the battery to full capacity. My setup is a bit too much for the plastic rods and differentials. I upgraded the front for metal, and will add all metal gear/differential. With all metal (like a Q901/902/903) it should be reliable. Never had issue with any brushed motor so far. Servo fails over time and with crashs. Since its a 5pins it's hard to find a better one hat would last a long time. Cups fail over time a lot I found, always needs to replace both fronts for the kids, sometimes I use tie rap until I get spares parts. For maintenance I add shock oil, and use marvel mystery oil for bearings, also clean it everytime it get wet/snow/dirt. Its a pretty cool chinese RC, but the parts arent very durable so at the end maybe it cost a bit more.
Thanks man I love my lil hosim. I was wondering about shock upgrades and fabrication. Thinking about seeing if I can mount some 1/16 Traxxas e revo wheels on mine.
Which do you prefer? Q903 or 16889? plus, esc will last a bit on 3s but it will probably eventually burn out. I recommend hobbywing 16bl30 esc & independent reciever. That little truggy will fly.
Backflips on 2S: depends on the ramp. On 3S: easily!! All of the budget vehicles like this incorporate a small delay into the throttle ramp-up to help reduce breakage. This one I don't typically notice/mind it.
where did you get the shocks?!?!? and how did you get the right kind? this video was super helpful, i want mine to sit higher, and also where you drilled the screw holes for the new shocks did the new screw hole blow out after the upgrade? and also need help finding tires that will fit the stock rims to make it sit higher sorry i know this is alot of questions but im super excited to find this me and my son both have one of these and we love em
mine goes 60kmh on 2s with upgrades and still is a beast but the gearing is very week so i upgraded it to steel and powder alloy gears and runs big 1 10 tires without any problems
Great video! I have one of these (Hosim 2845) that I use to exercise my dog almost every day. The rc car made a grinding sound and then stopped moving. The electronics are working and the steering works. I replaced the pinion gear attached the motor but it didn’t fix it. The spur gear doesn’t appear to be stripped. I’ve sent a message to Hosim but no reply as of yet. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!
just wondering what's a good place to get after market parts for the xinlahong I have the brushless version the only thing I upgraded is shocks n li-ion-pi 1000 nah battery, and it's a lil beast, is there any sites out there that have parts for this perticuler model
@@RoadsideRC I was just doing that and all I can tell is it's all the same inside it looks like the 903 is smaller the 2845 looks alot beefier idk thanks 😊 let me know if you do any more upgrades on yours I'm following you.
I ran mine on 3s also. Really fast for such a small truck. Only ran it for about 5 min on 3s. Did a double backflip from a dead stop using a wall.
Yes! So fun on 3S!

Thanks for the detailed comment.
All RCs will break eventually, especially with crashes.
Glad overall you are enjoying the vehicles.

Good question!
If I remember correctly, it uses 12mm hex. As long as the E-revo tires also do, you have a good chance of them fitting.
Yes, I remember that video! It was a brutal awesome bash. So everyone should definitely check it out!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼🍻
Yea I agree go check it out guys it’s INSANE 😵
Thanks!
It looks so much better now! 👍
Yes!
Great rebuild. Which oil shocks on Amazon will fit a Hosim 2845 1/16 RC truck?
I believe these will work: amzn.to/3NVBqA9
Ty for such an awesome video !! This is the best video upgrade I have seen for this hosim ! I loved your video bashing the hell out of the car !
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
@@RoadsideRC ty for your videos ! Looking forward for more ! For you have a new subscriber on me 🔥💯
Nice refresh. You did give it a hell of a beating! 🤣
Yes! It really surprised me!
Roadside RC Trauma Hospital. Great job Dr. Troy. : )
Thanks Rick!

Both are good trucks for sure. Hard to pick one.
What is the name of oil shocks? But at all thanks man!!!
It is these: amzn.to/3Dv6Nsm
Nice video! Thinking of buying this. Wonder if it backflips on 2s and if you have experienced throttle delay?

The links for the shocks is in the video description. Has held up fine.
I have not changed the tires out, but many should fit.

the original spur lasted 5days with big tires with cnhl power
Awesome - glad you are having fun with it!
Have you ever heard of the Blackzon Slyder? I just bought two of them. Could I use some of these same upgrades if I decided to in the future?
Never heard of it! I'll have to check it out!
Quick my spring lower cups on front shock fell off do u have an idea what size they are I have the gas shocks aswell
Good news - if you purchase 1/16 shock parts, they will fit most of the time.
Otherwise, take one of the remaining ones to your LHS to match up.

Sounds like you have a stripped gear somewhere. You will need to just tale it apart and see what looks off.
Be extra careful with removel,I have two of them, grinding might be diffs .
Hi Troy,i got 2 of the q903s i need to put new differential on my front end?? Vegas Paul here 😊
Can you find a video for that??
Great question! I don't see any videos on it out there!
best rc car ever
It is a good one!
Where did you get the oil shocks
Hi there - these are the shocks used: amzn.to/3Dv6Nsm
Note - they aren't great shocks, but they are still on the truck all of this time later.
wow giving that monster truck a major rework mate cool and good tips as you proceed

I have been able to order all of my spares from Amazon:
amzn.to/3xwRUGF
I just bought the 1:12 scale non brushless and no oil filled shocks but it looks great. Haven't had time to run it yet.
Great! I hope you enjoy it!
I have the 1/12 scale Hosim 9156, it’s rides really sweet but gets iffy on hard turns. Should I upgrade the servo? If so what would you recommend?
Honestly, it isn't about upgrades, but just the general suspension design. I believe you will find it turns much better while coasting.
Can a pickup truck body fit without changing the mounting posts? I don't like the look of the buggy. .truggy.
It should fit just fine.
any alternative tires available? abit larger
Yes - it uses standard 12mm hexes, so many tire options are out there.
I would think something like this would work rather well: amzn.to/3EbYOCi
@@RoadsideRC thanks for the info
I just ordered one
Great choice!
@@RoadsideRC what's the difference between the 2845 and the other q903 ??
@@RoadsideRC sorry it's the q905 and there's a couple more. I'm brand new too rc cars so....😊😊😅
@William Crook I'm honestly not sure if there really is much difference. Check to make sure brushed vs brushless and what equipment it comes with.

Nice rebuild.
How does this one compare to the HBX 16889?
Both are really good vehicles.
This one is brushless, so that is a bonus for sure.
Nice truck 💚❤👍✅
It is!
Thanks!
Which shocks are those you used?
These: amzn.to/3RcBR7X
Altair Scout is the exact same for under $40 esc and bl motor cost more.
I just looked the Altair Scout up! WOW! You are right. Looks exactly the same for a fraction of the price!
@@RoadsideRC I bought their RC Boats, the Scout arrives tomorrow. As long as you know the main style Q903, getting parts is easy.
How can I make it faster?
Are you running 3S? It will take it...and FLY!
Is there a brushless version of Hosim9135 available or is that a mod from you?
This is exactly as it came out of the box!
@@RoadsideRC thx for your answer 👍
@@JohnDulio Yeah Hosim has some brushless trucks 👍
You bet
Do all of them lol thanks
Thank you!
Have you tried these Remo tires? I think you might like them on this 1/16 Hosim m.ua-cam.com/video/jstsqUaUqP4/v-deo.html
Thanks - I should check them out.
