William Murdoch was a hero on Titanic, he did not kill anyone and did not kill himself. He was reported by those who survived as staying at his post and helping as many people as he could. In Scotland he is a Titanic hero. It was the most shameful thing the producers of the film did for drama.
Agreed. There was a lot of speculation in 1912 about someone killing himself and people being shot. In reality, the shots that were heard by the survivors were the shots being fired out to see in order to keep people in line. No one was every shot.
I actually heard that too and that his family really got offended about it and even asked for the scene to be removed and for the producers to apologize. Anyway, I can say for myself that I never saw him as a coward. for me, in the film he portrays a sincere, dutiful officer who tried to follow protocol and to save as many people as possible. Even IF he had actually shot himself, he wouldn't be any less honorable. Mr. Murdoch remains a hero and part of the Titanic.
He also was one of the people that survived on the overturned collapsible lifeboat that night along with Charles Lightholler, the ship’s second officer. Charles also piloted a boat which helped rescue soldiers from Dunkirk in WWII.

Nice but the character played by Leonardo DeCaprio was in no way based on Jack Thayer, who was a first-class passenger and survived giving a full account of the sinking of Titanic - the basis for A Night to Remember.
I loved the book he wrote. Especially the part where he told the reader that the stories told by survivors about the ship breaking in two were absurd and that he didn't even want to address it. Then he told of the boilers breaking free and the loud crashes they made while tearing through the ship as they fell. These things made me laugh since the sounds he described as the boilers tearing through the ship as they broke free were actually the sounds of the ship breaking in two. Wow Victor, Leo and Kate that’s a perfect casting fit they look very similar to the real people that they played I love all of those actors ❤😊 the titanic movie is so sad but was made in a beautiful way and leo had to pretend to be frozen geese I wonder how they did that behind the scenes
The main characters were all fictional. Rose, her family, her fiancé, Jack, Fabrizio, etc. However, much of the rest was adapted to be as close to reality as possible. Kathy Bates’ character was based on a real person, many of the aristocratic passengers portrayed were real, the old couple clinging to each other as the boat sank were real, the band was real, etc.
Alright, I knew some of the characters were based on real people, like the “unsinkable Molly Brown”, but I thought Jake and Rose were completely fictional.
So I did some quick searching and while there was a real Jack, and he was on the Titanic, he actually survived. He was one of the few who jumped into the water and was rescued from the ocean. Now Rose’s character was inspired by a lady named Beatrice Wood, who was born around the same time as the fictional Rose but never actually was on the Titanic
Whos jake?? Jake the snake was on that ship? They are based off 2 passengers in photos and their love story represents one of the many stories robbed of ever being told. Cameron was a genius with Terminator and also titanic crafting the perfect story to honor those who never got to finish or tell that story
Wow that's great! Thank you for featuring Kathy Bates! And one of my personal favorites, Eric Braeden! I think you did well trying to guess who Rose and Jack may have been based on! I don't remember; who was the guy who jumped into the lifeboats with the women and children? Again, amazing fun! ❤

Reba McEntire almost ended up with the role of Molly Brown. The only reason she didn’t was filming conflicted with touring. Reba decided her band and crew needed paychecks, and opted to tour instead of film. I think Kathy Bates was a way better choice for Molly even though Reba is my fav. Kathy and Molly share a lot of similarities.
The Titanic, was an excellent picture. From the remake of the ship, to th special effects, which was awesome! I don't care much for James Cameron; but he out did himself here & the casting was a cut above. Thank u for doing this.
Do you think you could reinvent the Romanov family that was tragically slaughtered in the cellar of a Yekaterinburg house in July 1917? I’d love to see Olga and Tatiana smiling.
The one that DiCaprio played in the movie is not named Jack Thayer Jr. The real name of the guy is Joseph Dawson. His grave site is here in Halifax Nova Scotia Canada.
lol the still photos coming to life creeped me out though, almost like they came back from the dead. Never really realized it as much until this video but photos capture a still moment that's frozen in time...tear...
Interesting tidbit- Lightoller was supposed to be the original first officer on board, with Murdoch as cheif officer. However due to a last minute personnel shuffle with second officer Blaine leaving the ship this left a hole to make room for Cheif officer Wilde, who served on board Olympic. Because of this, Murdoch and Lightoller were both demoted one rank
My favorite was Thomas Andrews & Victor Garber is one of my favorite actors. I think they did a superb job casting him. He & Kathy Bates as well as Bernard Hill are all remarkable. I don't think anyone could done better than they.
Renee my problem with the two Andrew's is that Garber has a very German look where as the real Andrew's looked Scottish! Also there looked like an incredible age difference between the two captins!
I always felt Cathy Bates role of Molly Brown should have been bigger it's a fantastic story. The only scene I found a little disappointing was the scene in the lifeboat, between Molly and Quarter Master Hitchens. They quarrelled furiously, Molly wanted to go back and look for survivors, he didn't. This escalated to a point were Molly was going to throw him overboard. Molly took control of the boat and went back but could not find anyone alive.
This has always been one of my favorite movies and The Titanic itself has always fascinated me. Such an unnecessary tragedy. 🥺 I was completely unaware that the characters Jack and Rose, were based on actual passengers. Thank you for this lovely video. God Bless You 🙏
Jack Dawson and Rose Dewit Bukater were in no way based on actual passengers. The Jack Thayer this video shows was a 1st class passenger who survived the sinking and had no bases on Jack Dawson, the character. I have no idea where they got a picture of Rose since this was also a fictional character.
This is brilliant it changes the way you think of them when in colour it makes them feel more human like someone you could Relate to not just and old photo

I am speechless about what technology can do. I kept looking at the pictures on the left. I was amazed to see all those real people in color. Just amazing. RIP all the people that died on the Titanic, and the survivors that already passed away. They will never be forgotten.🙏
Thank you, technology really is amazing.
Damn casting is top tier well done
Thank you so much, we appreciate your feedback.
The Actors & Actresses have Startling Resemblances! 😯🙂
Jack Phillips was a right bonnie lad. RIP everyone on RMS Titanic.
It is fascinating stuff. It is just like coming face to face with those who lived through that terrible night and some of course lost their lives. I was not aware that there was a real Rose DeWitt Bukater.
There wasn't
Rose is not real
Rose is completely fictional
Did a great job of finding lookalikes.thank you for the post
my grandfather was on the CARPATHIA. it was a horrific event.
they really did look alike, i am amazed
Thomas Andrews is a little hard to cast, but Victor Garber is very close in resemblance.
What stands remarkable is that the crew and passengers on board the titanic were all on an adventurous mission that ended up tragically !! And the movie with its actors representing them all, helps us understand the entire episode most
interestingly !!
I pray their souls rest in eternal peace !! 🙏✝️
They all look like the real people.Amazing to see this.
Thank you.
This gave me chills
Wow - that was amazing - THANK YOU
Thank you for watching.
They did a good job matching actors to the real people!
Thank you.
You always be Victor Newman to me no matter who you played 🥰🥰
Oh this was so very nice!! thank u for this video I enjoyed it😁🙏🌹🌹🌹🌹
Thank you so much for watching.
Thank you for this. i was silently waiting for it. i loved that movie !
Thank you for your support, we appreciate it.
thank you so much historicly for an amazing videos like this 🙏❤❤
Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate it.
They don't normally get this close to historically accurate likeness. I've never thought about that with this movie, so thanks for posting. Very interesting.
Thank you Voya, we appreciate your feedback.
Yup it's fictional but this kind story was rumoured to happen in the Titanic.
This was amazing thank you for such beautiful content
Thank you for watching our content Jodie.
Wow this was Amazing. Great Job👍 it's so real. You do Fantastic work. Thank You for doing this🙏❤
Thank you so much Cindy, we're glad you enjoyed the video.
I love the talent of this channel
Thank you, we appreciate it.
Alright, I knew some of the characters were based on real people, like the “unsinkable Molly Brown”, but I thought Jake and Rose were completely fictional.
I was thinking the same thing about Jack and Rose.
They were
So I did some quick searching and while there was a real Jack, and he was on the Titanic, he actually survived. He was one of the few who jumped into the water and was rescued from the ocean.
Now Rose’s character was inspired by a lady named Beatrice Wood, who was born around the same time as the fictional Rose but never actually was on the Titanic
@@AngelaMastrodonato yes the character of.jack wasn't based on him lol
Whos jake?? Jake the snake was on that ship? They are based off 2 passengers in photos and their love story represents one of the many stories robbed of ever being told. Cameron was a genius with Terminator and also titanic crafting the perfect story to honor those who never got to finish or tell that story
Well done on putting this together you did a fantastic job!! 👌
Thank you Christina.
Frederick Fleet one is uncanny! Great job to the casting department for this movie!
Kinda creepy how the real folks and the actors looked so much alike
I thought the animation on this was brilliant. I had some old photos of my late mum and dad, and myself done like this. Excellent video.
Thank you Michael.
I love your videos so much They are awesome!!!
Thank you Pennie.
Fun fact: There was actually someone on the ship named Jack.
There were several people named Jack on the Titanic, though Jack from the film is completely fictional
HA! It gets even better! There was a real J. Dawson on the ship, called Joseph.
Wow..Great work❤️
Thank you .
Amazing! Almost immortalized. The casting was great: Doppelganders of those lost at sea (the actors)
Thank you Deborah, we appreciate your feedback.
Absolutely very close
You didnt mention Caledon Hockley.? Played by Billy Zane
That's because he's a fictional character. Jack and Rose being here was a mistake. Jack Dawson bears no resemblance to Jack Thayer.
I believe it was Mr. Bruce Ismay, if I'm not mistaken.
Caledon Hockley and Bruce Ismay both joined the women, but on separate boats.
@Samara Hamilton Nice 😃
@@folkscynthia006 That Hockley name sounds familiar 🤔! In the movie, he grabbed a baby got in the life boat 🚢 and finally handed the baby to some lady! Creep! At least in the movie 🎬 🎞 🎥 🎦 📽!
@@marlenepearson3936 He was played by Billy Zane in the movie. A Pittsburg Steel Tycoon, as they called him. No such person exists, though.
I love Reba, but I agree, Bates was the better choice.
@@RowanWarren78 agree, I only see Cathy Bates in the role.
NTW, great job! Most of the actors looked very much like the people they portrayed.
Thank you Harriet, we appreciate your feedback.
The Titanic, was an excellent picture. From the remake of the ship, to th special effects, which was awesome! I don't care much for James Cameron; but he out did himself here & the casting was a cut above.
Thank u for doing this.
Wow who knew they got so close with the actors?
Do you think you could reinvent the Romanov family that was tragically slaughtered in the cellar of a Yekaterinburg house in July 1917? I’d love to see Olga and Tatiana smiling.
Thank you Mads, I will pass on your suggestion and will look into it.
The movie was really great in my opinion.
It really is a great movie.
They did a fabulous job of matching them!!
Thank you for your feedback.

You’re welcome.
Fantastic video, congratulations!
Thank you so much.
Great job m8 keep it up 👍👍🤗
Thank you for your support.
😱 it's Soo spooky!! They all look like reincarnation!! Each and every single one of 'em!!! Fantastic casting!! Beautiful!!
Thank you so much.
Best laugh ever haha 😄 😆 whoever did these edits is amazing
This has always been one of my favorite movies and The Titanic itself has always fascinated me. Such an unnecessary tragedy. 🥺 I was completely unaware that the characters Jack and Rose, were based on actual passengers. Thank you for this lovely video. God Bless You 🙏
Thank you.
WOW !!!This is so interesting to watch thanks for sharing this I enjoyed watching it.
The actress that you show playing Madeleine Force is actually Catherine Zeta-Jones from the TV movie.
Yes it is
Yes, Charlotte Chatton played Madeleine in the 1997's Titanic version. The actress shown in this video is Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Who was also the wife of Zero Antonio Banderous and real wife of Michael Douglas
Wow, you learn something new every day. I had no idea Jeor Mormont captained the Titanic.
its just creepy watching thisat 2 am haha, but great comparison its on flick!! great!!
Thank you, hope this wasn’t too much at 2am?
This is brilliant it changes the way you think of them when in colour it makes them feel more human like someone you could
Relate to not just and old photo
The cast looks almost identically alike and it’s like they went from the past and into the future
Thank you.
Lovely sad music to go with the video
Why not just play, "Nearer My God To Thee"? It's the song the band played as the ship sank
I understand that the blinking effects took time, and I appreciate the effort. I really do. However, I found it unsettling and creepy, plus everyone has wonky eyes....
Thank you Debbie for your feedback, we are working on improving the eye movements on our future videos.
