Titanic Passengers - What 16 Titanic Passengers Actually Looked Like in Real Life vs in Movie
Have you ever wondered what the passengers of the Titanic looked like in real life when compared to how they were depicted in the movie? I know I have, especially since it is one of my all-time favorite movies.
Hi Guys and welcome to another video of Historicly.
Well today I was able to find out exactly how close Leo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet resembled their real life counterparts using photo comparisons. Ohh and we did go a bit further, we did use our skills to enhance the old photos and animate them, to give you a completely unique perspective on the Titanic cast.
Let us know if you think that they match their characters on the movie?
Let's get started. - Розваги
I love Titanic. I think they did a great job with casting actors that looked very close to the real people. But Rose and Jack were purely fictional. Great job!!! :)
Thank you so much Erica
There based off real people technically real
Apparently the real ‘Jack’ actually survived the sinking and went on live a full life - he’s buried in New York.
I respectfully disagree. Men in those days sported "pomaded" hair and moustaches.
@@lisaslife83 I heard about that, but wasn't sure if that was real or hearsay.
Cathy Bates really captured the character of Molly Brown, I wished her part was bigger, as it is a great story.
I agree! It would have been nice if she had been written into more of the film. Especially because Molly Brown behaved so heroically during the disaster.
@@janebailey8032 isn't it portrayed in a movie... What was it a night to remember or something?
@@fharryn the woman playing the part in a night to remember acts like Molly Brown, especially in the life boat scene, I don't know if her character is Molly Brown, as her name is never mentioned.
There’s a movie about her called Unsinkable Molly Brown
Me too.
The REAL people who were on the Titanic were so much younger looking.
Its sad that they died in this tragic
I'm a guy, and I'm not attracted to guys, but I can tell Leonardo Dicaprio is fine as hell.
@@wholesomeedits I'm not gay bro
@@wholesomeedits yea
They really found amazing look-alikes for this movie. These actors really favor the real people. It's really incredible. Awesome work Historicly❤
Thank you so much Kim
@@historiclytv ❤❤❤ You're welcome. You deserve it! I love this channel.
So true
@@historiclytv there was no actual rose or jack.
Though....

Leo’s character was not based on Jack Thayer. Jack Dawson was actually a fictional character. Jack Thayer survived the sinking, and even claimed he saw the ship break in two during the final moments. For many years, his claim was not taken seriously. But in 1985, a man named Robert Ballard discovered the wreck nearly three miles below the surface of the North Atlantic Ocean, in two pieces.
Correct the ship is in two pieces underwater a little distance apart so yes it did break in half
I read a passage about that in school
Jack was right there, he has said he saw and heard the Titanic break in two.
@@unspokenrizz555 when I was at school the Titanic had never had been found, Afterall it was the seventies LOL 😂.
@@JohnLee-pt5jz -
You obviously didn’t read my post. No worries. You probably read at a first grade level, so I’ll use small words so you’ll be sure to understand. Jack is not real. The ship broke in two pieces. Many years later, a scientist found the ship deep underwater.
It’s quite eerie seeing these old pictures brought to life, just as if those people are still living. Great work.
Thank you, we appreciate it.
É assustador e arrepiante. Um pouco fantasmagórico tbm.
William Murdoch was a hero on Titanic, he did not kill anyone and did not kill himself. He was reported by those who survived as staying at his post and helping as many people as he could. In Scotland he is a Titanic hero. It was the most shameful thing the producers of the film did for drama.
Agreed. There was a lot of speculation in 1912 about someone killing himself and people being shot. In reality, the shots that were heard by the survivors were the shots being fired out to see in order to keep people in line. No one was every shot.
I actually heard that too and that his family really got offended about it and even asked for the scene to be removed and for the producers to apologize.
Anyway, I can say for myself that I never saw him as a coward. for me, in the film he portrays a sincere, dutiful officer who tried to follow protocol and to save as many people as possible.
Even IF he had actually shot himself, he wouldn't be any less honorable. Mr. Murdoch remains a hero and part of the Titanic.
Many witnesses believe it was Henry Tingle Wilde, the Main Officer who did that.
James Cameron did apologise, many years later, for the liberties he had taken with the depiction of some of the historical figures.
They say that Murdoch was flattened by one of Titanic’s funnels.
There are indeed striking similarities between the actual people on the Titanic and the actors/ actresses who portrayed them in the movie. Congrats to James Cameron and all his team! They all did a fantastic job!
Benjamin Guggenheim, John Jacob Astor and Thomas Andrews were a lot younger than the actors who portrayed them in this movie. Also, no one knew Margret Brown as “Molly” until after the tragedy. So no one truly would have been calling her Molly.
Jack Thayer actually survived the titanic and produced many accounts of the disaster. Unlike Jack in the movie, he was a 17 y/o first class passenger
He also was one of the people that survived on the overturned collapsible lifeboat that night along with Charles Lightholler, the ship’s second officer. Charles also piloted a boat which helped rescue soldiers from Dunkirk in WWII.
@@david71866 cool, I didn't know that 😀
It seemed totally unfair that they killed him off in the movie!
Jack commited suicide I think when he was 42, from depression, some think it was from "survivor guilt"
Jack and Rose were totally fictional characters. IDK where this guy gets off comparing them to real people.
Rose and Jack were a fictional creation of the film-makers to represent some of the different types of people who were passengers on the ship, to give a romantic story to engage the interest of the cinemagoer and to overlay the real tragedy of sink. I think they should have made a story about the two real people that was was on the Titanic. Isa and Isador Strauss, the owners of Macy Department’s Store in New York and whom had been married for forty years when they boarded the fateful ocean liner. Mrs Strauss could have been saved had she got into a lifeboat being a first class passenger she had priority above the others but, Mrs Strauss refused to leave her husband and they both went down with the Titanic.
I thought jack and rose are for real couple?
I used to think the same Adne until I started to look into it..lol.
Haven't you see A Night to Remember? (Which is, in my opinion, a much better version of the Titanic story because they stick with the facts.)
No,they r real,not a fiction
Yea they kept saying that jack and rose were fictional characters hmm 🤔 I need to look into it more
I have goosebumps watching the transformation it is so realistic, great job.
Thank you Pamela, we appreciate your feedback.
This is kinda creepy with the pictures of the actual people who were on the Titanic moving their heads blinking, but as for getting actors and actresses that looked very much like the people they were portraying I think they did a great job with many of them. Especially Margret Brown and the captain of the ship.
I personally think the real people are mostly likely computer, because some might have passed away and I also think that they wanted to keep the real actors and actresses the same look, but that's my take on it but don't quote me on that..anyways have a safe blessed day and weekend and happy 4 of July
I for sure found it creepy with the heads of the deceased moving in the video.
the live images of the real passengers were actually created using A.I. technology.
ua-cam.com/video/bXCYBsG6ork/v-deo.html
@@depressed_souldeath3951 actually the "living" images of the passengers were created by using AI technology.
Rose, her mother, her fiance, his bodyguard, Jack and his friend were all fictional characters.
Bruh bro it is based on real story
@@puranaprobhai3568 the sinking is but the romance is not all thogh ther was pepole on the ship by similer names the romance was not real
Yeah the other people like Molly brown were actually on the titanic but not rose and Jack and his friends. Although, it is believed there was an 18 year old boy on the titanic and I think they used Jack to resemble him
All thanks to the movie being partly based on actual events! Many people believe the fictional people were real lived and died people to.
It's true it's fiction Characters
A very tragic ending of what was supposed to be a joyous experience. Showing the photographs of the original individual brings the person 'to life'. Thank you for posting!
Thank you Paul.
How much detail that was put into the casting is amazing
Thank you Derrick for appreciating the time and effort we put onto our content.
The casting was amazing. The resemblance of the real person to the actors. Uncanny
You right
Titanic is my ultimate all time favorite movie for eternity.❤️ I lost count how many times I've watched it already. And it's amazing how the actors who played the parts are close look-alikes of the real ones. 🥰
I saw it in the theatre. Once.
Wow, had you not done the comparisons of the people who were on the Titanic and the actors/actresses that played the passengers nobody would have ever realized what the production people did to get these close look alike actors/actresses to make the Titanic movie. Awesome work doing the comparisons. Thank you.
Thank you so much Christina, yeah, we were surprised to find out that they were so close to their real-life characters. It's not a surprise that this movie is one of the greatest of all time. Thank you 🙏 😍
Thing is, I did noticed a hairdressing bloop with the mustaches. Those in real life back then didn't have that full style. As in the mustaches didn't cover the entire upper lip like the ones in the movie had. They curved downwards from the upper lip to the corners of the mouth.
I have a giant titanic book all about the creation of the movie
Did Jack and Rose die
A lot of these people were better looking than the actors.
Wow! What a terrific job! I really appreciated this. It brings life to these black and white photos and shows how close the characters in the film look to the real people.
Thank you Jane, so glad you enjoyed our video.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen titanic and I can’t remember if this character said anything, but right before the ship goes down rose looks over at another guy. That guy was based on one of the main chefs aboard the titanic.
Loved it. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing video of how the passengers really looked. You are amazingly talented and patient to do these.
Thank you Patti, we appreciate your feedback and we're glad you enjoyed the video.
So sad to know that most of those passengers,..captain,..and workers died in this tragedy.💔
Captain Smith and the officers were found guilty of negligent homicide by Congress. Naval officers have given interviews stating that smith and his senior officers were the worst in history. There are many credible rumors that smith disguised himself and survived. The captain of the carpathia claimed to have seen smith in America.
Stop being an apologist for the worst captain in history. Smith didn't even save the maximum number of people he could've. He only saved 700 when he could've saved 1100. 400 more people should've been in the lifeboats but smith didn't think it was important enough to order his officers to send them out full.
"Captain" smith deserves less than zero respect. He was a despicable incompetent jackass.
I knew they had cast the real characters really well and this demonstrates it superbly. But Jack and Rose were fictional.
Thank Oliver, Yeah, the characters are fictional, but Jack was inspired by two passengers, one which happen to be John. Thank you so much ❤️
@@historiclytv Jack wasn’t inspired by anyone James Cameron made this clear in statement that Jack and rose was made up and not inspired by any real people from the disaster.
@Corey Campbell actually the last living Titanlc survivor was Milvina Dean. She was 6 months old when Titanic sank
@Corey Campbell Actually Jack was loosely based on Jack Thayer. Rose was based on Beatrice Wood. Thayer was on and survived the Titanic. Wood however was never on it.
@Corey Campbell He's right actually.
ROSE WAS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!! ❤️
This was a real treat to see these comparisons side by side the real life pictures were haunting with the subtle movements great job 👍❤🙏
Thank you Kyle, we appreciate your feedback.
It's so fascinating to see the real peoples faces move. I wonder how they would feel seeing themselves on screen around 100 years after the tragedy. You basically brought them to life again.
Thank you for your feedback, we really appreciate it.
All the cast members quite a bit resembled the original passengers. but the unsinkable Molly Brown was uncanny. and Kathy Bates did an outstanding job with the roll.
They did a wonderful job matching the actors with the actual passengers of the Titanic!! Thank you for sharing this! :)
Thank you so much for your feedback, we appreciate it.
They all were matched for their part so perfectly x
Thank you Elaine, we appreciate your feedback.
Nice but the character played by Leonardo DeCaprio was in no way based on Jack Thayer, who was a first-class passenger and survived giving a full account of the sinking of Titanic - the basis for A Night to Remember.
I loved the book he wrote. Especially the part where he told the reader that the stories told by survivors about the ship breaking in two were absurd and that he didn't even want to address it. Then he told of the boilers breaking free and the loud crashes they made while tearing through the ship as they fell. These things made me laugh since the sounds he described as the boilers tearing through the ship as they broke free were actually the sounds of the ship breaking in two. He would have been flabbergasted if he was alive in 1985 when they found the ship in two pieces AND the boilers still in place.
@@USMCbratt A ship that size full with water not surprise if it really broke in too...what I read is the the company does not want that promoted vector makes the company that build the ship look bad
Small correction: The producer came up with the character Jack Dawson himself, as he himself confirmed. That person didn't really exist back then
Yep. But coincidentally, there WAS a J Dawson who died that night. He just had no relation to the character.
@@USMCbratt yup...I read long time ago, his body was burried in Halifax's cemetery if I'm not mistaken

Wow! How in the world are they now able to not only better colorize old b&w photographs, but to realistically animate them as well?? To me, those animations were just a little creepy as well, but otherwise I'm VERY impressed!! TITANIC was a great movie, and its story will never be forgotten. The Actors & Actresses have Startling Resemblances! 😯🙂
These people look so similar to the real people. Not bad with the picks. In tears thinking on how those people died for real. The Titanic story just have me amazed at how these people never survived the crash. I still think how the ship broke in half.
It really is heartbreaking!
This gave me chills

I think it is soo crazy, crazy cool how you have the old pictures basically coming to life right before our eyes I know it takes skill and some Photoshop of some sort to do that and it is soo amazing!! Try a video on old 1800's outlaws & bandits and make their old photographs come to life as well that would be soo awesome!!

Fascinating pictures! I remember when the movie *"Titanic"* premiered and I've often wondered what the people on board the great ship looked like in real life, and possibly in living colour.
Thank you Jason for your feedback.
@@historiclytv As entertaining as the movie was, I knew that there was some liberties taken to make the movie more interesting than it might have been.
All Cameron needed to do to make the 1997 "Titanic" "more interesting"--at least for informed mature audiences instead of pandering to the dumbed-down juvenile teenyboppers for ticket sales money--was lose the distracting insulting in-the-way soap opera of of Jack & Jill [Rose] and OF COURSE include the far more excruciatingly dramatic INTERESTING TRUTH--like the Californian, and portraying the correct British hymn-tune of "Nearer My God To Thee" at the end, NOT the INCORRECT "American" (northern yankee) tune of that beloved world-famous Christian Hymn--the Real Truth is far more gripping AND INTERESTING and beautiful (i.e. the actual hymn) than Cameron's silly soap opera. The still-far superior authentic 1958 "A Night To Remember" remains the unchallenged Classic TRUTH--all it needs is colour, present-day special effects technology, and depicting the breakup and it would be the untouchable genuine definitive portrayal.
Well done on putting this together you did a fantastic job!! 👌
Thank you Christina.
Beautifully done

Watching the animated faces of the Titanic was surreal, astonishing, and sad knowing that some survived that night while others didn't. Love history and photography but never realized how much I appreciated the animation process!
