Hivernenca = translates "Winter" as it is a late variety, I have heared it is the same as the "Algerian Chetoui" as Chetoui= "winter" .. same shape, color and leaf pattern . What do you think?
Hey Ross, I looked up this variety but two different ones came up. There is the DlS Hivernenca and the DlS Pons. Which one of these do you have or are they the same because in the fig database there are separate entries. Thanks your channel is a blessing for me who is starting out with figs in a similar climate.
Hi Ross! I like to watch your videos. Would you tell me the name of the fig book by Paul. I really want to buy that book. Do I spell his name right? I want to buy cuttings or a starter plant of this variety. Where to do it? Thank you and best wishes to you and your family.
Ross, we pretty much eat all of our figs. Ants, wasps, other bugs, birds...not an issue. Organza bags. Are they a bit of work to use? Sure. And the time spent is worth it. Animals? Electric fence.
We must have much more aggressive critters (birds and squirrels) here in Central Texas. I'm constantly finding half-eaten, hard, green figs on the ground and in my trees (they're in-ground). Organza bags, fake owls, netting...nothing works. So I can't even get to day one of hang time.
@@RossRaddi Positive. Plain old Brown Turkey and Texas Everbearing. I've seen the birds and squirrels going at 'em. Gave up on organza bags when I kept finding them torn and scattered throughout my yard. Big fig trees...15 and 20 feet. This winter I'm pruning back hard so I can build metal wire enclosure. Thanks...really enjoy your vids.
I had a about 50 Danny's Delight on my tree, almost perfectly ripe on Thursday before I left for work but not quite perfect.. I said Saturday they are going to be beautiful... Saturday came along and someone else discovered them first..49 figs completely missing and one perfectly ruby fig left bitten in half as evidence of their existence
So frustrating, I sympathize! Having fruit stolen by humans or critters, either way, feels like being robbed. Have you tried putting organza bags on figs just as they are about to ripen? Might not deter human critters, but probably works on the others.
Hey Ross!! you are contents are very informative..!! i'm requesting you that make a series video, how to make proper soil for fig growing, your all viewers are not from unitedy state or United Kingdom or Australia..!! There is lots of viewers from Asia zone and here most of the State ready poting mix are not available not only that even few areas parliet are not available!! Make Video series how to preparing soil by Using Organic way like using cow manure, Chicken manure, Leaf fertilizer compost, vermicompost, Sand, cocopeat or cocodust, How to choose soil for cutting re poting? How to make soil for one year old fig trees or gradually changing poting size with soil Setting!! Hope you will come out with this all particular tropics!!
Do you have red imported fire ants (Solenopsis invicta) in your area? Some ants are bad news for reasons other than mere spoilage. The ones (like fire ants) that swarm and sting are quite violent and can be downright dangerous.
Hi Ross I'm having a problem getting my figs to ripen. I'll get maybe 1 or 2 to ripen at a time. I have lots of figs on the tree, they just don't ripen. Any help you can offer would be appreciated. Thanks
Why do you allow ants in your figs? Ant stakes, where they take the poison to the nest will end this. My grandmother did that under her figs, I do that, it hasn't hurt anyone that I'm aware of, and keeps the ants out of the figs. My grandmother lived to 97, and I'm 81. We had no bad effects from keeping them out of the fruit.
I waited 15 minutes to learn why this is the destroyer of the Black Madeira. To the point please! - From one impatient fig armature PS: Just watched another video from your channel, you rated the Black Madeira on top of De La Senyora! Come on man! Be consistent! From one confused fig armature Somehow I watched this video again! Don't ask me why. Just to be clear, I love fig, not you.
Jesus was born to a virgin, turned water to wine, taught, healed the sick, raised the dead, casted out demons, walked on water, and calmed the storm, among many other things. He was killed, and three days later He rose from the dead. Forty days later He ascended into heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Father. He is returning very soon, but before He does, Satan, the devil, is coming to pretend to be Jesus. Satan is an angel, and he will have certain supernatural powers with which to try to fool everyone. He will, for example, be able to make fire come down from heaven in the sight of men. He will only be on earth a short time before the real King of Kings, Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, returns. When the real Jesus comes we will all be transformed into our spiritual bodies at the same moment. Jesus came to offer forgiveness of sins and eternal life to anyone who believes and calls on His precious name. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; - Romans 3:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. - Romans 6:23 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. - John 3:16-18 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. - Isaiah 42:8

I'm surprised how hang time is not really discussed that much (that's been my experience anyway), given how important it is
Great video, thanks for showcasing this variety, DLS'H' i like that it checks all the boxes, and also great coverage on the others too👍

Its name in North Africa is Shitwi (Arabic شتوي) means winter fig it's well known and very popular
I’m learning so much from your videos! Thank you so much.
Hi Ross, say you lived in the tropics and didn’t have to concern about the climate, which will you choose taste-wise: Black Madeira or Hivernenca?
Hi Ross!
I like to watch your videos. Would you tell me the name of the fig book by Paul. I really want to buy that book. Do I spell his name right?

Enjoyed this video, we’re you able to get additional variations of this fig?
Yeah, but it's been a process.

Is this a Portuguese or Spanish variety? (De La Senyora)
I was just wondering from the size of your yard why you haven't put in a few row of figs?
I have 12 rows of figs in ground.

Seems unlikely. You sure your variety isn't just a green fig?

Would you please release all the figs that are worth to grow in the ground.

Where would find this variety in Europe would u know Ross?

@@RossRaddi well Ross cheers for the reply. U hardly have a link to this site, I can't find any that sell them, only a site with descriptions.
monserratpons.com/variedades/
Translate with google chrome. Let me know how it worked out.
@@denniskatinasThank you. yes this is the site I was on. It only gives descriptions of the varieties. There is no option to buy them.
Only 1 r 2 of my figs got soft the rest they stayed just firm I don't know why I admit maybe not enough sun but thought temperature was high enough

How do you encourage your figs from going from hard green stage to starting to swell? Mine seem stuck at the green hard stage!
Could you make a list of your favorite figs with least hang time & best flavors?
See my spreadsheet. It's in the description.

Hi , I’m in zone 6B , will it grow in my area?
It's quite late. Ideally you give it a headstart.

Not for a few years unfortunately.
Expect to pay $200 per cutting since the publication of this video

To be fair this is one of the few I'm downsizing to.

I got Verdal de Oriola before I knew it was De la Senyora H. I almost dropped way too much on one before I figured it out. Research is good.

Hasn't life taught you to avoid hurting other people ? Keep on this way, and one day you will get a harsh lesson.
