I do love Keith but I am disgusted how they framed Kim leaving as a tragic time for him. Jesus fucking Christ, they're dismissing empathy for the absolute hell he put her through. She deserved to leave, and he was right to get left.
no bigger moon fan than me but after watching this i hope he suffered the night he died he is to me nothing but a POS!!!!!!!! A-HOLE FAK daltrey should have smoked him several times then threw him out of the band
In Dougal's book, I remember him writing that the ankle injection incident was NOT at the Cow Palace, but a few gigs before...a harbinger of what was to come.
there appears to be pieces missing. i have this on vhs and im sure there was a section on Tommy and his friendship with Oliver Reed. But it's still brilliant. What a legend! xx
At 5:13 tragic. The 'tranquilizers' were actually PCP x 3. 19 yr. old fan, Scot Halpin, took his place, while Moon went straight to the E.R. & had his stomach pumped. Please, don't do drugs. 🙏
It's all booze. I was a good looking athletic weekend warrior that could get wild and put on a show, get the girl and kick the bully's ass, had friends and all good, but as you age and your friends age, what was funny now becomes obnoxious, and you want what you had so you drink more and it only gets worse, and either you pop out of that or you die or you become a street bum, and it's really not that hard to figure. PPL get very uncomfortable around ppl that are out of control!
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?
feel free to correct me if you're a drummer or know more about keith's style of playing, but the fish in the solo scene are only inside a floor tom which is positioned in the wrong place for a standard kit set up. He is never shown hitting that drum, so it's not that cruel. (although you can see the water vibrating and they wouldn't like the overall sound)
usually,in the 60's when Keith was good,he did play the left floor tom.i have footage that proves it.but by 1975 he was struggling.the drumming on 'the who by numbers' is great, but slipping compared to 'who's next'....his peak.
He needed somebody to watch him 24/7. I wonder if today's psychological medications would have helped him? A lot of Alcoholics are also manic-depressives Depakote helps a lot of people who are MANIC-DEPRESSIVE it's better than the alternative drug lithium which sometimes gives people the shakes. Depakote also sometimes can give people upset stomachs but that can be dealt with through diet or adjustment of medication levels.
This documentary is wrong in saying that Keith had TAKEN that tranquiliser. His drink had been spiked, he very nearly died that night. Down to no fault of his own (for a change). It's quite possible that Dougal Butler's quick thinking saved Keith's life.
0:12 Moon and Bonzo leader Viv Stanshall would walk down Portobello Rd, London, Moon as Hitler and Viv as Reinhard Heydrich S.S. Officer. Must of freaked the B jeezus out of people !!
A gorilla tranquilizer? I remember the other documentary claiming it was a horse tranquilizer that he took before the show when he passed out and a fan from the audience stepped up to fill in. Hmmmm....
The story went that someone told him if he took half a tablet of PCP with brandy that he'd get an interesting buzz. Keith being who he was said":Sod this,I'm Keith Moon!",then proceeds to take a whole tab of PCP and then a bottle of brandy The end result is what happened at the Cow Palace.
I still have friends who are ultra high energy and can consume super human quantities of booze. I could only handle them in fairly small doses. There's no point trying to talk them down or control them in any way--the manic episode has to run its course. You have to decide to love these people without judgement, unless you want to end up hating them.
im late on the argument...but both parties are correct...theres no need for violence at anytime but women do get away with alot more then men in those types of situations...in domestic dispute calls cops allways put the man in cuffs regardless if he hit first or not
cholling, are u saying keith moon is an f up, cuz if u are u are very very wrong, he was one of the best if not the best in rock drumming. if u play the drums id like to see u do soming that can top keith moon.
He became more psychotic as the magic of his early years wore off. Some even believe he was possessed and controlled by 'familiars'; malevolent spirits who at first enhance one's life and success and bestow great powers, but which later vie to take total control of the posessee's personality and collect payment for the Faustian bargain (best I ever had...) struck years earlier...
I have always thought that. R.D. said he was very nervous before every show. He self-medicated. He had so many talents. He and Bon Scott would have had a good time.
You Rhodes Scholars who populate UA-cam at all hours of the night make me laugh out loud. Most of you can't even spell, and wouldn't know what a real man was if he was right behind you. I've never had to hit a woman,I don't forsee it either. However,I had my fiancee pull a knife on me and i simply disarmed her.And the police took her away and i pressed charges to make a point. And guess what, web geniuses?she wants me back!!! The Who deserve far more intelligent fans than this.
I'm not saying it's right, but I do understand why Moon beat his wife.Women do not treat 'nice' guys very well at all.Seriously,I have very little sympathy for women.
He was great in his own right, but I don't consider him to be great compared to other great drummers. Imo a great drummer keeps the beat for the band to follow, but I read somewhere that Keith had to rely on John Entwistle to keep the beat steady.
I do love Keith but I am disgusted how they framed Kim leaving as a tragic time for him. Jesus fucking Christ, they're dismissing empathy for the absolute hell he put her through. She deserved to leave, and he was right to get left.
Keith's lunacy is funny from a distance. Must've been fuckin awful for those up close
Same with all alcoholics.
He was a fucking crazy dude, who was gifted to play the drums like a god.
Keith was crazy, in his prime, he was a great drummer. In the end, it was sad.
no bigger moon fan than me

they actually had to get a man from the audience to finish the set. what lucky guy he was.
there appears to be pieces missing. i have this on vhs and im sure there was a section on Tommy and his friendship with Oliver Reed. But it's still brilliant. What a legend! xx

'I was too young to know about the who"
Fuck! Off!! 😂😂😂
Dudley Moore would have been perfect to play him in his life story on screen. Lol
long live Rock...
long live the Village Green...
long live Moon.
exactly, that's what people dont understand. Roger said it himself, he played with the intensity of the vocals
That's the one thing I really hated about Keith hitting his wife I never believed a man should hit a girl a woman never
The other day after having seen this, I heard on the radio Olivia Newton John's song, Have you Never Been Mellow, and it made me think of Keith.

Keith was the sexy rock and roll madman
All Genous Have A Dark Side .History Has Proves That.It Still Doesnt Take Away His Drumming Ability!
Hetero ot Homogenous?
I sexually identify as Keith Moon.
relatable
You need an elephant tranqualizer.........

I feel sorry for Keith......nobody understood him.......nobody even really tried.....
This documentary is wrong in saying that Keith had TAKEN that tranquiliser. His drink had been spiked, he very nearly died that night. Down to no fault of his own (for a change). It's quite possible that Dougal Butler's quick thinking saved Keith's life.
Bollocks it was Dougy that gave him the horse tranquilizer

Yes a fan did come up out the audience to play drums
Yes the audience member was a man by the name of Mr. Scot Halpin.
Detail.....
Oprah gave it to him
Goldfish, love rock n' roll
8 horse tranquilizers, get it right.
The Gorilla tranquilliser cracked me up mind 🤣🤣🤣

the fucking greatest shit ever!!!!!!
I take it you haven't read Dougal Butler's book on his time with Keith then?
This poor man was suffering from Bi_Polar and psychosis. Nobody helped him...instead they thought that everything he did was normal for him. Very sad.
he beat his wife!!!!!!!
who thinks that normal
@@terrybono5995 apparently most people back then . That’s part of Steve’s point . Also does not change the fact he was Ill

MsFanmail thank God for it
major downer huge upper...thanks for enabling Keef to kill his beautiful self
Same tranq.
He was a flamboyant male, but straight. Kind of a contradiction right there.
What happened to kim hes ex wife.
She married Ian Maclagan in 1978 and died in Texas in car crash in 2006

macandrewes
I want some...
@kerron32
A lot.
I guess them goldfish LOVED being pounded on by Keith Moon.
He had a few issues. Wealth just made it worse.
Drumsolos are boring .....even from Keith Moon 7:05...... Charlie Watts and Ringo know .....
Moon would of made an excellent comedy actor!
I have always thought that. R.D. said he was very nervous before every show. He self-medicated. He had so many talents. He and Bon Scott would have had a good time.
No he wouldn't
Noviey should ever have to endure watching Sextette.
Wow! I can't believe he was so violent towards his wife and daughter.

NOT true. Get your facts straight.
keith moon the muscian= genius
keith moon the man = shithouse
keith probably had attention deficit disorder.
Prolly bipolar or schizophrenia.
moggy1231 how about bi polar
boy that was sloppy drumming Keith!
I'm not saying it's right, but I do understand why Moon beat his wife.Women do not treat 'nice' guys very well at all.Seriously,I have very little sympathy for women.
Quite possibly the worst drum solo I've ever heard. I like Keith Moon, and like his drum work - but that solo sounded like garbage.
Not an especially great technical display, but more *musical* than most. More like drum music, than a solo, as such.
I never rated him as a good drummer......a bit of a hack really
he was a great drummer. Later on in life he lost his abilities behind the kit. No hack, not by any stretch
undae you're a bit of a hack
No clue whatsoever
moronic statement.
He was great in his own right, but I don't consider him to be great compared to other great drummers. Imo a great drummer keeps the beat for the band to follow, but I read somewhere that Keith had to rely on John Entwistle to keep the beat steady.
... very poor drumming ...
