He really slowed down. His style of drumming required you to be in shape for all of that craziness. Seeing him struggle is hard, but that's what hard living does to you.
thanks for loading those up! gr8! i think Keith was, he is indestructible! Who could ever destroy that. He created a lifestyle most people could only ever dream of. his personality was massive, somebody destined to do weird and wonderful things. If it was for the "moon the loon" days, Keith and the who may never have been as famous! The band as a whole were very troubled and had a very rocky career. Its because of people like moon and Townsend that rock and roll exists!
The Doctor who prescribed those crazy strong pills would have been put in jail if this where today. Dr. Diamond still claims he doesn't even really remember Keith. Like you wouldn't remember. What he did, giving an addict a drug that even then was thought of as very dangerous and to be only used in hospital, was criminal.
He didn't know about Keith's lifestyle apparently (somehow) but a basic background check could've saved his life. Just imagine a world where a 60-70something year old Keith moon was still alive
I had a doctor who gave me 100 heminevrin Tablets for free.said they were a sample from a drug rep ! He claimed they were like alcohol.I ended up falling down a flight of stairs and was found a day later still alive (just about).A really dangerous drug but i guess Big Pharma just wanted the money.....
What type of pills, benzodiasopines? It use to be thought to transfer an alcoholic to a benzoyl then detox from the benzo...but that is the wrong approach (,back then it was textbook). Keith needed long term, residential care but the Who could not be without him that long. RIP keith...you didn't have to die like this.
long live Keith's spirit.. its really what rock n roll is all about.. Annette is still in love with the man, sure she's not the only one.. best to Keith's family & loved ones.

@ilovemymagic yeah thats what i am starting to think as well. it is important that we don't remember keith just for his antics and the troubles he encountered but mainly for his super human drumming ability and his pioneering style
I wish that Keith would've been a little more patient and taken Roger up on his offer of a work out program. But things sadly didn't happen that way, very tragic. He was so young.
It's ironic, when Keith died rock kind of died for a short while. New age, punk, etc.. took over for a bit. But Rock came back. Keith will live forever. Keith is characterized by a relating irony that will never die. He fit the WHO the band. IN other bands he would have sounded like crap. But with the WHO it worked. For a short while, the group was on top.
The WHO is still the greatest rock band ever Zack Ringo's son. Has been the drummer for the WHO for a while now. And he would sit on Keith's lap and Keith was showing him how to play. Ringo didn't want him playing the drums but it was always Zacks dream to play the drums in THE WHO. if you haven't listened to him playing you should. Uncle Keith is very very proud of how great Zack is.
I've known a Keith Moon in my life. He was a great musician, a blast to hang out with, a blast to have as a friend, and -- if I'm being honest -- a blast to enable. But after years of abuse, long term effects set in; whenever he was sober for a few days, he was the opposite of fun or friendly: cranky, self-obsessed, and totally uninteresting. Even so, when our enabling stopped, and a decade of encouraging him to clean up became a pain in the ass for him and all involved, he just crawled deep inside himself and became a loner, a serial liar, a closet drinker and opioid junkie. He's still alive, but mostly gone. I see him every week or two, and I listen as he blames other people for his multiplying problems -- except for his drinking. As he stated it, "I married alcohol. I love her." I have no clue what to do. I doubt Keith's pals knew either.
Sorry to read this. Sounds like he does not want help. He will need to want to change his life before you can help, unfortunately. It may be tough but the best thing to do is not enable anymore. I have been there.
You can’t do anything for somebody who doesn’t want to be helped. But there’s a lot of help out there for people who want it. Start with 12 step meetings. Get medical treatment if that’s necessary or drugs now which will make you violently ill if you drink alcohol while you’re taking them. But the steps are all difficult and painful and nobody’s going to do them if they don’t really really want to stop the abuse. The Alcoholism is a symptom, not the actual problem and you have to deal with the actual problem to ever really get better. The Doctor Who told Annette that there was no saving him, didn’t know what he was talking about and pronounce that death sentence; and contributed to the problem unknowingly.
3:35-3:40 The Who Tried To Carry On With A New Drummer, But It Was Never The Same, Thats Spot On, They Should Have Just Changed Their Name From The Who To Something Else
He's my hero too, Im absolutely mesmerized by him. But, to trade lives, I think his was a tortured existence in many ways, particularly after the 1970 death of his friend and driver for which he blamed himself. I believe he battled personal demons all his life, then was haunted by that death till his own. I have the deepest empathy for the beloved Imp of Rock n Roll. God bless you dear boy, you gave us everything you had. Thank you.🥁❤

@simoncbr900rr as much as i love Keith i have to agree, his drumming worked together with the other members, but as a drummer myself i would say he was both good and bad, good because it worked perfectly in a band situation, but on his own.......forget it , but before everybody blow their lid off, let me make it clear, i adored Keith Moon, he was a one off
He wasn't a drum soloist, but his drum parts on the great Who songs, are unmatched!!! Keith's drumming style fed off what was going on around him rather than reciting drum rudiments...
He could've cleaned up. Maybe he would've. Got clean and dedicated himself to annette, the band.and his health. Who knows he could've become a bad ass drummer again.
Not true check out Chuck BISCUITS via the Circle Jerks look this up CIRCLE JERKS - LIVE U.S. TV ROCKPALACE '85 (actually in 84) but anyway he is longer playing live let me know what u think of his playing)
That statement about his drumming not being done here is not quite true. The solo on the soundtrack album was re-recorded and maybe other parts but it is clear he’s playing mostly what your hearing here.
Poor old Keith, I loved him but he has the eyes of a paranoid alcoholic, today he would have been diagnosed much earlier, wether he could have been saved...I doubt it...
One of Keith Moon's best friends and drinking buddies, Ringo Starr pleaded with him to get help, telling Moon that if he kept the pace he was going at he would eventually kill himself. Moon simply replied, "Yeah, I know." Based on what fans have learned about him, especially the accidental vehicular homicide of his driver it seems as though he willed himself to die. Ringo's son, Zak referred to him as his uncle, was taught how to play by Moon and eventually filled his shoes as The Who's drummer.

Nerds and Johnny "Doo Gooders" will always slam the wild ones like Keith because with their "dullard" personalities, they would never understand. BUT, "on the negative side to being wild" When you have those obsessive/compulsive behaviors, you usually either clean up or die, and the older you get, while still living the life of a 22 yr old, the sadder your existence becomes, and the more "real" friends you lose.
I haven't seen this last post of mine from 8 + yrs ago until just now, and at the time I wasn't drinking, or at least not much. Then in 2011 my absolute best friend of 20+ yrs died of an enlarged heart at the age of 44, and in about a yrs time I was a mess from drinking way too much. So much that my wife got my parents involved, and that was enough to mellow me out, and on the rare occasion that I drink, I don't drink in excess. The main two motivators were not sending my parents to an early death from worrying about me, or having my kids see that side of me, and luckily that side stopped before they were old enough to remember it. To each his own, but if you are one that really shouldn't drink then you know who you are and you probably shouldn't.
He was VERY good and special unique drummer...but that clip of him trying to do a solo was quite bad as he was too far gone at this point. He wasnt playing with the rest of the band it was a one off live tv short and he was smashed..i hate watchin that clip!
A real british rock and roll icon. Best at what he did. RIP Kieth, hope you found what you were looking for.
The late great John Peel took care of the narration, both of them gave so much to music.
Greatest drummer to ever grace this earth! RIP Keith
Sad a true talent and rock legend. He never got to know his daughter, Pray he is at peace now
Jesus! Hearing Keith play the drums is like listening to two drummers playing at the same time!
He is the greatest!
No he was a nutter on drugs
Keith is my no.1 example to my drum students what drumming is all about.
actually not

long live Keith's spirit.. its really what rock n roll is all about.. Annette is still in love with the man, sure she's not the only one.. best to Keith's family & loved ones.
It would of been great had Keith lived till he was 73 years old but he checked out of living life at 32 years old never got to see him live
spot the mistake in the newspaper headline...they manage to get his age wrong somehow.
on another note greatest drummer ever, RIP Keith

Keith Moon is the real spirit of rock´n´roll...
The way he looked at the end of his life does not look good at all for 32.
The last words of the interview: the true: the great drumer in rock´n roll history.
john bonham idolized keith moon don't forget that.
The Who was never the same after Keith died.

Brilliant

cheers for putting it up
How did he keep going what a train a legend and a true gentelman...

Wow he looks more like 51 in that first photo.
The saddest part is when Annette said that they were planning to move the country side to have children...but never happened because, he died... :(
The saddest part IS that he died.
Without fail, the few hard core alkies I have known all had grand plans just before their demise.
Keith and Syd: two of the greatest tragedies of rock 'n' roll.
What is syd stand for
syd barrett, pink floyd
And Brian Jones
And every Spinal Tap drummer
I absolutely love this!

Unlike a Charlie Watts for example he wasn't a time -keeper ,but that would have made The Who good but not the great band they were .
moonie
my pleasure !
Yes, I grant you, he's 46. I just hope they don't use electronic effects to de-age him, like they did with Ian McKellan
anyone else think Keith looked a little like Tony Montana from Scarface when he was on that chat show?
yes. lol.
i think even keith would have admitted he worshipped satin ( sheets )
Keith looks like Tony Montana during that interview.
Keith was ROCK. Bless the loony
Your'e invincible until you croak!
Keith WAS a nerd, a very chaotic brilliant one.

Keith Moon
Easily said that he is 1 of my favourite drummers
haha well my friend i think u need to listen to all of them and then tell me who is the most acurat and who has the most energy moon is the best hands down

He NEVER EVER hit the child.
only the good die young.
@spikester3612 Yes. And sometimes the success doesn't stop the madness...
Anyone know the concert/appearance in which Moon is seen drumming, starting at 3:57?
ABC In Concert 1974.
So sad.....R.I.P keith.
Keith Moon pisses me off. He had a unique and extraordinary talent, but was never grateful or respectful of his talent and pissed it away. He never practiced the drums, then drank and drugged himself into a physical wreck so in the end he could hardly play anymore.. cause it's been done already. though it's sad
what is the name of this doco? the show or whatever? anyone know?
I think he'll be great as Moon

two diff personalities, Bonzo seems so shy on the few interviews i've seen, nothing like Moonie..
@Germania72 During his last night in the movie premiere; he complained that he had breathing problems...
I would swop my life for Keiths time on this earth....
The later post 1975 Moon was an embarrassment.
But the vintage Moon was the Jimi Hendrix of drums.
But true
id rather have a fun short life like keith's then a long boring one
bensimps123 what's stopping you
I beleive that Moon had commited suicide, I think he was too skilled as a drug doer to make a "silly," mistake like that. And we know that he had low self esteem and a serious case of clinical depression, not to mention borderline personality disorder. It only makes sense that he did.
he is the gretest drummer in rock my friend

Buddy Holly premiere with McCartney died the next morn.

Better to Burn out then fade away
His drum solo on IN CONCERT is even worse than Peter Criss' 1979 solo's.
