"You believe Christians are PUNISHED at the Judgment Seat of Christ!?"

  • Our listener asks, “Hello! I first want to say that I really
appreciate your ministry, but I realize that
you believe that at the Judgment Seat of
Christ even Christians are getting punished,
even though they will go to heaven. I do not think that this is true. Paul said in
Romans that God does not remember our sins
anymore, and in 1 John it says that we are as
righteous as he is. Isn’t all the punishment
and anger on the cross? I believe that God is never angry at a
Christian. He wants us to be a follower of
Christ, and He will chasten us like a Father a
child. But not as a punishment, only to make
us repent of our sins. I believe that we are saved by faith alone.
    Have a nice day.”

Amen brother Jessie. Once a son of God always a son of God.
Even though the gospel is so clear apart from all works and though rewards are clearly taught by Jesus and His chosen Apostles, few ever get to understand the awesome opportunities to learn the benefits of obedience and yielding to our Father and possibly earning rewards and position on the Kingdom because they never come to grasp the Gospel of God's grace. The True gospel is Truly Good News. God bless...

I agree in faith alone, but once someone is saved, they won't just live in sin and not care. If someone is choosing to live in sin, that is proof they were never saved to begin with. If one is saved, it will be shown by their actions, but their actions are not needed for salvation. If you press the on button on the remote, that TV is turning on, but the turning on of the TV was not necessary for the button to be pressed. ❤✝️
      Romans 6:1-2 ESV
What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? [2] By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?

@@GogglesOstrich I am guessing you profess to be a Christian correct?
Have you stopped all sinning? Not just the ones that even atheists avoid through mere carbal will power such as murder, adultery, theft , drunkenness etc.
I mean All Sin. Foolish thoughts are sin. To know to do good and failure to do so is sin.
Most who take your Perseverance of the Saints view regarding works seem to think internal sins, which Jesus made very clear, are equally as sinful as physical actions. So you believe a "real" Christian stops sinning which includes sins of the heart such as pride? Even though there are mountains of verses exhorting, warning, encouraging, provoking Believers to stop this or that. Verses rebuking them who are called Saints, for some large open sins such as the whole book of 1 Corinthians does some of which resulted in believers physically dying.
A Christian can walk in the Spirit and one can see good acts to follow. A Christian can rebel, be out of God's will and it results in lost blessings and chastening that for some results in Physical death.
Should any saint just sin on for the sake of it?.No.
Can they and really miss out on God's fellowship and blessings and rewards? Absolutely, hence All the warnings for believers..

@Livingingrace Everything you just said I agree with. I'm not saying a Christian will be perfect, but there is a difference between struggling with sin and choosing to live in it. God has sanctified me so much in such a low amount of time. I am not saying you have to be perfect, but to choose to sin, to do premeditated sin, and live in it, that's proof you're not saved. Purely following the Bible, I come to this conclusion. Not any other source or church. The Church isn't an institution but the entire body of believers around the world. I'd be categorized as a protestant, though I just call myself a Christian because that's what the Bible calls us believers in Christ in Acts. God bless ☺️❤️✝️
      1 John 3:10 ESV
By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.
      1 John 4:6 ESV
We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

@@GogglesOstrich Interesting. So you never sin willingly and on purpose? Every sin you commit, physical or mental is willingly and intentional. Perhaps in time what you say was rapid sanctification will mature to the point you will understand mental sins of which I have zero doubt you have daily(as does ever saint) are you sinning willfully.
1 John speaks of those regarding fellowship and how to restore it when broken. How to abide/stay close in fellowship to the Lord.
Any good we do is sourced in one of 2 places. The Spirit/New Nature born of God or the Flesh/old nature which is wicked and of the Devil. The ESV being so filled with Calvinistic purposeful mistranslations certainly makes one learning sound doctrine struggle on certain passages 1 John being among them.
A believer who walks in the Spirit manifests the New Man. A believer who yields to the flesh manifests the Old man..
The former results in a life serving God which comes with blessings and rewards.
The latter results in chastening, correction, loss of Rewards etc.
Some saints will be greatly rewarded.
Some saints will make it to heaven with nothing to show of their time here. Which nature that is yielded to brings forth the fruit of said nature.
Jesus called Peter, a heaven bound eternally saved Apostle Satan when he sinned trying to hinder Christ from going to the cross. Why? He was walking according to and being in the flesh.

@Livingingrace I fall into sin and regret it when I do, but I don't just plan and go out of my way to sin and then even worse, not even care about it. I'll ask you this to make sure you understand what I mean by my words:
Will someone who is saved continue to live in sin just to live in sin without having any regard for it? For example: Someone "puts faith in Christ" but then goes on to lie, fornicate, and commit adultery their entirely with no regard or regret for it. Did that person ever actually put faith in Christ?

I realize just how many Christians are eager for people to think they can lose salvation or that Jesus is not enough to be fully justified from all sins (past, present, and future). I am pretty sure each major "denomination", if you can even call it Christianity, follows this. Luckily, I am an independent and just want to follow what the Bible says, not a denomination's doctrine/beliefs.

You may want to and it would be best that you reread 1 Corinthians 3:10-17 again.
      1 Corinthians 3:10-17 KJV
[10] According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. [11] For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. [12] Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; [13] every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. [14] If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. [15] If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. [16] Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? [17] If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
In the chapter, Paul speaks about divisions in the body of Christ. Apollos vs Paul when Paul and Apollos are laborers who laid the foundation.
It's important to ask, what foundation has Paul laid?
      1 Corinthians 3:10-11 KJV
[10] According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. [11] For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
IF Jesus is the foundation that was laid, what is Paul speaking about when he speaks about "another foundation" in verse 12?
What are the works that Paul is speaking about in verse 14-15?
More importantly, do you have the foundation that is Christ Jesus? Are you eating the meat? Or drinking the milk?
      1 Corinthians 3:1-3 KJV
[1] And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. [2] I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. [3] For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
      Hebrews 5:11-14 KJV
[11] Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. [12] For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. [13] For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. [14] But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
      Hebrews 6:1-3 KJV
[1] Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, [2] of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. [3] And this will we do, if God permit.
Hebrews 6:1-3 speaks on what the milk is. Discern if you are still on the milk vs the meat of Christianity.
      May Yah bless you

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the GIFT of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
2 Corinthians 11:3 “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.”
Salvation is so simple, even a child can understand it. It is simply believing with your whole heart that Jesus’ Sacrifice on Calvary was the total and complete payment for your sin. Plus nothing, minus nothing. Jesus will take you just as you are, sin and all. He came for sinners. You don’t have to change because He will change you.
Hebrews 2:3 “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;”
So really, what have you got to lose?
    Thank you Brother! Looking up!

All I really care about is the truth of God's word. I subscribe to the truth, not doctrines of man. Scripture clearly teaches believers will receive rewards for what we did with our life. To deny that truth would be to deny His word.
He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. Matthew 10:41-42
I agree with you 100%, but just want to note it seems Paul's focus (at least in the context of this chapter) has to do with how we share the gospel. It seems he's concerned that they could contaminate the gospel of Christ in their carnality in making these "divisions". We see this same kind of thing happening today all over social media with some trying to outdo others in their understanding of truth, even to the point of accusing the body of Christ of preaching a false gospel.
For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? 1 Cor. 3:3-4
According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Cor. 3:10-11

I was always taught this from my youth and have never questioned it but i do have some thoughts that are unclear on these two subjects. One rewards, we really do not know what these are or the role they will play in our service to Him in Heaven. We cast all our crowns at his feet. We wont be going around comparing who has more crowns than another as that is a human vice. John the Baptist will be called Least in Heaven so maybe we do identify saints by their earthly works/rewards but this is unclear.
Secondly what does chastening look like? If it can be witnessed by others they will see it as negative...."there goes that sinner who never seems to get it right"..."his health is due to poor decisions, self discipline, God took his life because he couldnt over ome his sinning ways.." As a believer we could see the negative circumstances in others as Gods chastisement but is that really true? A glass of water given in faith is rewardable but a negative thought about another is punishable. A life becomes focused on do's and don'ts which is the judgmental state many churches have become. I say we live by faith and trust God and any work we do in faith will be subject to his honor and blessing.

I believe it is the difference between being forgiven by your Father vs being forgiven by a Judge.
A Judge meets out punishment for transgression of the law.
When a Judge forgives, it is forgiveness from the punishment you deserve. When you are forgiven by your Father it is reconciliation with the person you hurt.
      1 John 1:6-7
6 If we say that we have FELLOWSHIP with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
We have FELLOWSHIP with God our Father when we walk in the light but we have PEACE WITH GOD (in His grace) when we are imputed righteousness by Christ.
      Romans 5
1Therefore being justified by faith, we have PEACE with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2By whom also we have ACCESS by FAITH into this GRACE wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
You cannot please God without faith. It's how we have access to grace (Eph 2:8-9)
      Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
But once you believe (have faith), you are now free from the law. You are given the liberty to walk as a son.
      Galatians 4
6And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
      Galatians 5
13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

From my experience it has been many things. Sometimes spiritual attack. Sometimes loss of peace in myself or my marriage. Sometimes illness. God chastens in many ways. The issue is whether or not you change. If you aren't sure if something is chastening, ask God to let you know! Ask Him to show you anything in your life that you need to change. If it's a trial, ask Him for His help to endure.

Yes, I'd like to know that too.
Last Saturday, where I live in Ont. Canada 🇨🇦 it rained & a Loud, Lightning Bolt⚡️ came down & hit the roof of my neighbor's house & a tree out front of it.
Right away, I thought of what Pastor Jesse said it some of his videos "I don't want to be standing next to you!" I thought that might have a warning to me for something that I might be doing wrong.
Also, I hear Yankee Arnold say "He might take you out back the shed & beat the tar out of you" now, whenever things are going bad in my life, I think I'm being punished.
I don't understand this chastening because we are sinning all the time, in thought, word and deed. Ecclesiastes 7:20 KJV
I am always telling myself "I can only try to be aware of my flesh nature, and try to walk in the spirit as much as I can, but I'll never be Perfect, until I am with Jesus."
As for rewards at the Bema Seat of Christ, I'm trying my best but I know that I will be ashamed, because I don't think anything I've done, so far, will be good enough to stand the test of fire, & will be burned. 🔥 Out of all of the people, I've tried to witness to, most people argued with me, with insults, telling me that "we MUST, Turn from our sins to be saved!" Two sisters told me "you've only been reading the Bible for two and half years, you don't know enough." Also, I'm still learning about what people do believe like evolution, Catholism, JW, Calvinism, having to have evidence of their faith, etc.
I would like to understand this chastening more, though, because I'm always thinking I'm not doing things right and being punished.
I try to tell myself (as a 2-1/2 yr toddler in Christ, lol) & at 69 years old, "Jesus knows what I'm capable of doing as I try to grow up."
But maybe this is wrong?!? 🤔 ?

Financial struggles, physical illness, mental problems, etc. There are many ways God can get the attention of a sinning believer.
Just be sure you don't ever base your assurance of salvation on a subjective concept like whether you are experiencing chastening. While Heb. 12:8 clearly teaches that all born again Christians are subject to chastening, sometimes we can't always discern right away whether we are experiencing discipline or merely going through a trial. We should regularly confess our known sins to the Lord, but our assurance of salvation should always be based solely on the objective truths of Christ's finished work and His promises in Scripture.

1st verse given is Romans 14 We all will be judged at the Judgement seat, including Christians absolutely correct. Paul Also expects you to read all of Romans. In Romans 2 Paul hit on this subject to Christians : You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2 Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3 So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? 4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?
5 But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. 6 God “will repay each person according to what they have done.” 7 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 8 But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.

Where did Jesus teach this doctrine of loss and reward to his apostles in the gospels?
I know Paul taught it. But Jesus or the other apostles I don’t find it.
For that matter where in the old testament does it teach the judgement seat of Christ. Again Paul taught it and it’s part of his gospel. But where else other than Paul.
Additionally, if James is teaching the judgement seat of Christ why doesn’t he refer to it as such. Could it be because he’s not?

I am going to go with scripture as well, and believe there is a chastisement that will take place after death for many believers. God disciplines His children, that they may partake in His holiness (Hebrews 12:4-10). This is a painful experience, not just a psychological reprimand.
The idea that loss of reward is the punishment does not fit with what scripture reveals. In 1 Corinthians 3:15 we have the presentation that a believer will suffer loss, and though they remain saved, they still must go through fire. This is descriptive of a painful experience.
In 2 Corinthians 5:10, which references the judgment seat of Christ, each will recieve either good or evil, according to what they have done in the body. This is suggestive of more than a loss of reward, but of something evil.
From an eternal pespective, we see the Father remembering the sins and iniquities of His people no more, specifically before the Great White Throne. But until then there is still accountability. How can God discipline His children if He has forgotten what they have done? Jesus stated in Matthew 6:15, that if a believer does not forgive, then their sins will not be forgiven. Does God not remember sins and iniquities no more, except for unforgiveness?
Many scriptures allude to an afterlife punishment for believers, like the foolish virgin not being allowed to take part in the wedding feast, or the unprofitable servant who was cast into outer darkness. Many believers, it seems, will neither take part in the wedding feast, neither will they be able to reign with Christ for a thousand years. Of course, both of these things are rewards not rights, so it can be said that this is the loss that disobedience brings.

Totally agree all believers with be saved as the Judgment seat of Christ is about service and rewards but I also believe that many Christians with be ashamed about how little they have done for the Lord. A lot of us including myself have built bonfires of wood ,hay and stubble over the years following Sport or whatever instead of following the Lord fully. Heard a story/illustration once about a believer who died and went to heaven. He was told he would be taken to his accommodation and he was excited as he passed many beautiful mansions. Eventually he saw an old beat up shack and that was his accommodation "surely this cant be it ? This will be the hour when all who are in the tombs will hear the Son of Man's voice, and come forth , those who have done good, to the resurrection of life , and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgement. Then Christ will come in his glory, and all the angels with him. Sir, I mean no disrespect. I believe exactly as you do that. We are saved by faith apart from any works that we do. I’m not saying the good works prove that you are saved, but they reveal your faith.

    • @Livingingrace
      @Livingingrace Місяць тому

@@peterschmidt6754 a good study is to go back and read when Abraham was justified before God by faith. Gen 15:6. And around 30+ yrs later when offering up Isaac he told his servants he and the lad would return though he had ever intent to sacrifice Isaac had the Lord not stopped him. He believed God would raise him from the dead. Another crucial character in James 2 is Rahab. It says likewise was not Rahab justified when she hid the spies. Doesn't say before God but does say justified. Then read Judges chapters 2 and 6. You will see Rahab's actions were seen as righteous before Joshua and Israel and chapter 6 says Joshua Saved Rahab alive. The fruit that came out of her doing so was that not only she, but her family And all their possessions were physically saved and not destroyed along with Jericho. Her faith as James said her profited. It benefited her,her family and the spies she helped physically save as well. Salvation in the book of James is physical most often such as in James 5, saving the sick or saving a wayward believer's physical life/soul if you convert/turn them from a course of sin that leads to physical death.

My advice is to read Genesis 15:6 before jumping into chapter 22. At the time, Abraham did not even know about Isaac let alone sacrifice him. Being justified before The Holy God is a single event and not a process. Justification is a birth issue while sanctification is a growth issue. A baby in his mother's womb could not do any work, he needs TO BE BORN in order to grow OUTSIDE of the womb. Did you know that when a baby was born, he sees light for the first time? When a sinner was born again of The Holy Spirit, he sees God through FAITH for the first time because GOD IS LIGHT.

1 Cor 3:12-15 is talking about rewards, which, if lost, he remains saved because he has the foundation of Christ in him, the new nature of eternal life (v11). Verses 16,17 is beyond loss/gain of rewards. He has clearly moved on to discuss the destruction of, NOT WHAT WAS BUILT ON IT, but the foundation itself (v11). The spirit of God in verse 16 is the eternal life in a believer, not the Holy Spirit. Look back at chapter 2:11,12, he contrasts the spirit of God with the spirit of the world, meaning the sin nature. The Holy Spirit is mentioned in v13. This means when anyone preaches a stumbling block to a believer, that causes them to lose salvation, they, themselves, will lose salvation. Paul is not repeating loss of rewards. He is saying if you destroy the temple (foundation of Christ in him (remember he already talked about loss of what was built on this foundation (the rest of the temple) He, himself will be eternally destroyed.

We reject works for salvation, works as proof of salvation, loss of salvation, Arminianism and Calvinism. It’s not a “play.”

@frankc-k3q What you’re saying is factually inaccurate. We are neither… Calvinism is false and eternal security is still true.
