Listening to David Platt I think brings back church PTSD from all the false messages like he’s preaching and the misery it caused me and so many others. Thank you, Trent and Jesse for what you guys are doing. Never, never quit. No matter the pushback you guys get from people here on UA-cam or elsewhere. People need to hear the truth.
When you put your trust in Jesus for salvation, He became both your Lord and Savior. That's just a fact. They're not two separate things. Jesus is both. Great video Pastor Jesse. God bless you
Platt has had issues for several years now. His book “Radical” basically judges one’s Christianity by a “poverty gospel,” which is essentially the inverse of the prosperity gospel; that you must be giving all of your spare money away to prove your faith.
Man I heard this so much for 20 years that I had no assurance of salvation. Thank God for guys like Jesse and Gregg Jackson helping me hear the one true gospel of grace.
Gregg is a great gospel teacher. Some strange doctrine outside of the church age and he is obsessed with attacking sound dispensational preachers though. Still presents the gospel clearly and being used by the Lord in these last days against the works gospel wolves.
This is the truth. Not all who believe and are born again will love God and obey. We are commanded to love God it is not guaranteed that a true saved person will.
These guys are stuck with "if he's not Lord of all, then he's not Lord at all. There are bound by works of obedience equals salvation. Thanks Pastor Jesse for your excellent message. I'm so blessed hearing you. God bless.
Thank you! You are one of the few who mentions the death, burial, and resurrection as the gospel (as defined in 1 Corinthians 15). Some leave out one of those three components...and some don't even mention any of the three. Take care brother!
1. Demons cannot believe in the gospel. They just know who the Lord is 2. Faith without works is to believers to keep going with faith not for them to keep their salvation 3. No one will be justified by works Many of us got saved with the joy of the Lord and were organically wanting to serve Christ and love others. Then men came along with add ons and theories on how to do it right and what to believe really means. We got confused and the burdens accumulated. It’s like they want to make a way that is so narrow for everyone else but themselves. Beware the pedestal of the pulpit. I may be wrong but there is a certain mannerism or speech pattern than makes me feel grossed out. Washer is probably the best example but it’s certainly a trigger for me.
I read Platt's book Radical. As a woman, his book made it seem like if I wasn't adopting children or doing something extreme (according to his standards) I wasn't in the faith. This book infiltrated Biblebelieving churches with a works-based gospel.
Why than did Romans 10:9 say "If" you confess Jesus as Lord you will be saved and why did the thief that got saved in Luke 23:42-43 KJV address Jesus as Lord before asking to be remembered when the lord Jesus entered His Kingdom if confessing Jesus as Lord Jesus is not important? The reason is that Jesus is not your "lord" untill you call him lord this is why the Holy Ghost empowered the thief to do what Romans 10:9 said must be done. Read the top comment above and you will see why it has to do with what the meaning of the word lord is. Jesus has no authority to do anything for you until you confess him as lord. Make sure you go to the Lord Jesus in prayer and say Dear Lord I want you to be the lord of my life. Thank You Lord Jesus. Now you have done what Romans 10:9 declared and the thief did. Not until you do that will Jesus be your Lord. and you are lost.
@davidaucoin7317 What did Paul tell the jailer??? Belief preceeding confession. Yes, you have to believe and confess he is Lord, but Lordship salvation teaches that you have to make him Lord of your life by fruit producing works to prove your salvation. That part is not biblical!!!
@@gregorylatta8159nope. I know, and have known hundreds of Christian’s that YOU would call ‘Lordship Christian’s”. And NOT ONE of them believe what you’re accusing them of being.
@@davidaucoin7317 Calling Jesus “Lord” will send you to Hell if you’re not trusting him alone as savior. Lordship Salvation is works salvation. Makes no bones about it. [22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? Hey brother trent ❤️🙏 please pray for me. I am still a bit in pain and soreness I didn't know and it was hard to see What was causing this yesterday or last night I just found out rather late enough That I was being exposed to gas leak Poisoning ( freon) Was gushing out the pipe ( tubes ) That was causing me to be really sick physically and maybe mentally in Spiritually. I was dizzy, thirsty, fainting, mental problems, confusion, chest palpitations, nervousness, spitting, nausea, vomiting, lights in eyes , vision issues, shaking, memory issues, hard to pray, and nervousness and fear reading The Word , and bad thoughts on GOD and people like derogatory words towards GOD and people. But I didn't know that freon gas exposure can caused this . I thought it was all a spiritual attack or something . But I feel relief for the gas leak by turning off the a/ c unit . What hurts the most is that I was feeling tormented and so confused and on GOD'S LOVE and that I was mentally emotionally feeling drained . Having constant scary dreams and thoughts of salvation. But I wonder why I still have those very evil thoughts of GOD and people and cussing? And why I still feel nervous to sometimes to read Scripture. I understand that I was sleep deprived severely and other things but I wondered when will this go away and get back to normal ? Is it anything in Scripture that I should read on to help me ? Please pray for me ❤️🙏 Thank you for your ministry and videos.

@@BibleLine so like " platt" if someone uses Romans 10:9 in with The Gospel of Jesus Christ is that a work ? Which would mean that person isn't saved right?
Great expose' JM. Platt appears to follow the typical Calvinistic "Lordship/Works/Performance based Salvation". Where is the "Unmerited/Undeserved Favor" aka Crace in the ever threatening expectations of virtual "Sinless perfection required daily or your either not saved or a 2nd class Christian at best" belief & teachings??
Yeah he is putting his interpretation of salvation onto himself, it’s all him I, I, I, what I’ve done, what I’m doing, his own righteousness not God’s, sad, but what’s more sad is the people he is deceiving and keeping from knowing the true grace of God and eternal life. The devils doctrines can be so subtle and Jesse is very kind to this man, BUT I think they do need to be bought down. Thank you pastor Jesse and Trent. God bless
"Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?" 1 John 5:5 “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." Matthew 16:24 Sounds guaranteed to me.
4:11 The book of James is always paraphrased. It actually says 'oh you believe there is 1 God?'. James says 'oh you're monotheists? Good for you'. The verse doesn't say 'oh you beljeve the gospel?'. But that's how its misquoted.
This is one of the people that Paul was warning the Galatians about. He asked them who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth. He was writing about DP and others...
I understand "even the demons believe and tremble" to be an analogy of how we as believers should pair works with our faith so that others can see what we believe. In other words, I understand it to be saying that the demons tremble *BECAUSE* they believe and that their belief is manifested in their trembling. I think it's talking about how if even the demons believe and tremble, and we see that they believe *BECAUSE* they tremble, then we as saved believers should pair works with our faith so that others will see what we believe. It has _nothing_ to do with receiving everlasting life in those passages, clue number one being salvation was never offered to demons. We already have everlasting life by faith alone in Christ alone. Now that we *ARE* saved, lets pair works *WITH* our faith to profit men.
Hey there. I’m a father of a 3 1/2 year old, and I’ve been sharing it with him for a while. I use the jacob’s ladder (wordless book) and five fingers. You can just use colors. Kids love this. Gold - explain heaven simply (God is there, no bad there, no sin there) Black/splotchy - sin (God doesn’t like this, bad stuff we do, the reason we die - and even explain hell. They can understand heaven is “up” and the flames are “down.”) Red - Jesus died for us. He died for our sin. Explain the cross and everything. Draw it if you need to. - especially the cross. This is not too much for a kid. Repetition will help. White - believe Jesus did this for us and we can go to heaven. (You can backtrack through the colors to explain this). Green - often misunderstood and misused. I say “Green means tell everybody about Jesus!” - of course this is after salvation. My son can do the entire wordless book ladder, and he understands to answer questions about the cross. This is because of the repetition. Hope this helps. Keep it simple!! - Trent
@@BibleLine Thank you so much. I remember seeing the colour explanation before. I will definitely share that with him. I do speak to him about God and Jesus. Thankful for your ministry. May our Heavenly Father continue to bless you all always. I know He looks after us all everywhere. Praise Jesus.
Hey there! The best teacher is always mom and dad using the scripture rightly. Nonetheless, I know material can be helpful. Awana (KJV) has some decent material you could use. We run an Awana program in our church, and the lessons tend to be clear. The emphasis is on scripture memorization. You could go a cheaper route and get Dr. Mark Cambron’s free PDF of “Bible Doctrines” online. You could break that down to the level where kids understand it. He pretty much dissects all major topics/themes/names of God throughout the Bible. Plus he is very clear! If you want more resources, shoot us an email at questions@biblelineministries.org, and we can probably even send you something. - Trent
JWs and SDAs will tell you that Jesus was Michael the archangel before His incarnation. They are believing on another Jesus even though they don't say Jesus was "just a man" with Christ consciousness.
Saying Jesus is Lord is like saying Breath air! Acknowledge verbally you breathe air or you're not really alive right now. Nonsense. Christ paid for my sins. He was Lord then, he is Lord now. He will always be Lord.
James trips a lot of people up and in my opinion is responsible for Lordship Salvation heresy. We know for us free-gracers it is talking about faith and works that benefit man, and us here on earth but wow, has this book bewitched the vast majority of the church today.
It's hard to find a church that doesn't teach what David does. It's frustrating. Even our pastor says salvation is a 3 point process, believe, commit, and be Baptized. Every church I've ever go e too seems to preach the same. Where can one find chur h that's doesn't preach this?
John 8:24: "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.” Notice the "He" is in italics indicating this word does not appear in the original manuscript. Prior to "He" is "I am" a title of Jehovah God (Exodus 3:14).
@@billadams6232 nonsense. “but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” The Trinity is manmade nonsense.
Romans 4:5: "However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness." Scripture context is crucial to the study of the Bible. Is the verse dealing with salvation or service? Faith related to being saved is defined above. Once a person trusts Christ as Savior then he/she needs a working faith to serve the Lord faithfully (James 2).
We can "TURN" (metannoeo/repent) those that have this and other false beliefs about haw to get saved/born again through the written word of God. But we have to speak, we must not remain silent because their eternal destiny is at stake...And when Jesus told us to preach the gospel, that was not a suggestion ...That was a command. --------------Gods blessings
Metanoeo or Metanoia never means turn. It means “after-think” or “change of mind.” We change our mind about who Jesus is and what He has done, and we believe in Him. Yes, we absolutely should share the gospel. It needs to be the true gospel though. - Trent
@@BibleLine My dear brother Trent. You must be using the "New and revised Strong's Concordance". I suggest you dig deeper. Jesus died and rose agian if you believe that he died and rose and were saved by grace through faith alone you will be saved. Once Saved Always saved no need to repent from your sins for salvation. m
You're straining to find something that is not there. The fact that Jesus is Lord is good news. Repentance is acknowledging the lordship of Jesus. This is not heresy or false teaching.
Yes. We have seen the Catholic prayer guy a few times. Most of the time, ads are dependent upon the type of content you view. I’ll get random ones too. Any ad revenue goes directly back into promoting the channel and keeping it going. We don’t care to get rich or anything. - I’m sure you know this, but I figure people will be curious. - Trent
Understanding that Jesus is Lord is important. We need to understand that He is sinless. If we don't understand that Jesus is sinless we will not understand what Jesus did on the cross. Many people can recite the gospel but only God decides who He saves.
That is Lordship salvation then . That wouldn't be free will or Grace . That is a unbiblical misinterpretation of what Scripture actually says . John 3:16 says For GOD so Loved world that He gave His Only Begotten Son that whosoever BELIEVETH in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. The Bible says " for GOD so Loved the world" Everyone not just some people. Jesus died for all the whole world. And anyone who believes on His death burial Resurrection as a payment for their sins is saved and sealed with The Holy Spirit until the Day of Redemption.
Yes, we should have some basic understanding regarding the Savior. Regardless, God saves anyone who believes that Jesus Christ died for their sin and is risen again. We don’t have to “make Him Lord” in any way. - Trent
Hello! I made a comment on the Greg Laurie video. Trent replied "I am sure he is raking in millions of dollars......". I noticed that that comment from Trent has been deleted. Could you please tell me why? Two questions: why did Trent make that comment and why was it later deleted. Thank you for your clarification. God bless you.
Well. I can tell you from experience and spiritual discernment that many of these false teachers are preaching to those with itching ears, and thereby they rake in the followers, thereby raking in the money. Not an inaccurate comment if that comment was indeed made lol. We are saved by God's grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, plus nothing, minus nothing. Nothing apart from our faith in his death (for all of our sins), burial and resurrection results in salvation. These false teachers say we have to repent of our sins, or be baptized, make Jesus the "Lord" of our life (even though he already is Lord), have works to prove our salvation, do something to stay saved, etc.... All of these add to or subtract from the work on the cross, therefore making it void. Jesus paid it all. The amount of true, biblical teachers is becoming VERY FEW and far between. The truth is not popular. Which is why false teachers such as John Macarthur, Greg Laurie, Paul Washer, etc have amassed mounds of wealth. Hopefully this helps! God Bless You!
Hey there! Trent here. I really don’t know why comments get deleted. I haven’t deleted one in at least a year. UA-cam sometimes filters them. Anyway, I believe I was agreeing with someone on something. As far as I am aware, we have always made the point that we aren’t out to discredit the character of these men. Regardless, many a preacher is greedy of gain. This is no secret. Millions of dollars isn’t sinful to own, but the love of it is. - Trent
Jesus is Lord and he is the Savior. We have no power to make him such or not. Our only decision and responsibility is to humbly accept the gift we could never earn, the salvation that he offers as our savior....or reject it. Seems like Mr. Platt is determined to reject it. There is not a single verse where Jesus says 'make me your lord to receive everlasting life.' Only 'believe in me to receive eternal life.' He even rejects people who call him Lord Lord because they don't actually believe in him for salvation! How blind can you get! Edit: Yeah, good point. Lots of vain repetition too. You can say he is lord, you can say you love him, etc. etc. etc. but none of us our righteous and all of this is just self righteousness. Trying to discern the scriptures without the Holy Spirit.
One bible 1000s of different views about the same book. Yet Jesus prayed may they all be one. And all the views have Scripture they use. This is why people don't become Christians. You would think God would of made his book easier to understand.
Hey there. Thanks for the comment. The Bible can be understood, but many people are led astray due to false teachers, doctrines and spiritual wickedness. You can understand the scripture without any outside sources of interpretation. Seek the Lord, and He will give you the answers you need. I do leave you with the truth of salvation, if never before. We fall short, in that we all sin, but God loves us. We deserve death and hell, but God desires for our salvation. He wants us in heaven with Him for all eternity, and He did not make the way difficult or grievous. He made the way simple and free. "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me (Jesus Christ) hath everlasting life." Jesus paid your price on the cross, was buried and is risen again. Will you believe in Him for your salvation? - Trent
Yeah but Jesus is Lord of your life then you make the commands a priority and are led by the Spirit. Works don't make salvation but they come from our belief. Faith without works is a dead faith. Also it takes work to flee from sin. The Bible says people that do certain things will not inherit the kingdom of God. So your lips can say you love God but if you don't show it then you're only doing lip service as you said about the man saying faith and trust means taking action.
Someone gets it. What I don’t understand with Martinez here is he is basically saying “if you believed at one point in your life you are saved” well if your life doesn’t represent it then no you’re not. A moment of conviction and just freely living a sinful life is not how belief and faith works being saved.
I remember watching a serman of him that he encouraged people to to vote for a pro abortion candidate . Say what I said to myself wuss wrong with this guy
Not a Platt fan. His book Radical was good, but I think he went off the rails along with Matt Chandler and Francis Chan. He had some good messages 10-15 years ago, but wokeness crept in IMO.
In Romans 10:9 It plainly says that if you say outloud with you mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your hearth that God has raised him from the dead that you will be saved. Thus in Romans 10:9 we have a declaration of what must be done to be saved and we find that the thief who got saved according to Luke 23:42-43 KJV addressed Jesus as Lord not as Jesus, not as God ,or the Christ but as Lord prior to asking for salvation. Since scripture informs us that nobody can say Jesus is lord except by the power of the Holy Ghost that the thief contray to popular opinion did not figuer out on his own that Jesus is lord that the Holy Ghost empowered the thief to confess Jesus as Lord to be in harmoney with Romans 10:9 and because of what the word Lord means which is one who has authority. This emplies that until one confsses Jesus as Lord publicaly as the thief did Jesus is not the lord of anyone who hasn't made that confession. Therefor by having the thief confess Jesus as lord prior to asking for salvation gave Jesus the legal right to grant the thief's request for salvation. He wwho has not confessed Jesus as lord has himself as Lord. It is much the same as it is with lawyers. One can believe in lawyers but unless one has hired one to be you atourney you have yourself as an atorney and President Lincoln once wrote "He who has himself as an atorney has a fool for a client" So it is also with lords. One who has not confessed Jesus as Lord has himself as lord and is a fool . Thus we see that there is complete harmony between Romans 10:9 and Luke 23:42-43. Thus the declaration and the illustration are in comlete harmony. This is prove that would stand up in any court.Anyone disagreeing that there must be a pulic confession that Jesus is Lord in order to get saved must answer the question why did the Holy Chost empower the thief to address Jesus as Lord prior to asking for salvation. No none todate has given me an answer. Anyone claiming a confession that Jesus is Lord is not necessary in my opinion is disagreeing with the Holy Ghost.
Bibleline can you do a video on the Judgement seat of Christ please? I wonder if it will hurt or is it punishment when your bad works are burned up ? I don’t fully understand what will happen to us. I know we are Saved and will be in Heaven but it seems scary and I believe it’s because I don’t understand. Thanks 🙏
I’m sure we can get some content on the judgments. Jesse frequently references it, but a strict video is good to have on tap. Notice that Jesus is not judging our sin at the JSOC. He is judging our works done for him or lack thereof. It’s not a beating seat, a wrath seat or anything of that sort. Could we see what could have been done in our lives and have sorrow and regret? I personally think so. There is something to that judgment that makes serving the Lord so worth it. The biggest “reward” is the souls of those who will join us in heaven. Perhaps seeing those who won’t join us is the regret. Examine 1 Cor. 3, 2 Cor. 5, 1 John 2:28. There are a couple other places, but those are key. - Trent
It’s funny you should mention that guy, because I used to read this Christian blog run by a guy who brought up both Platt and Chan on an almost weekly basis. You could really tell he was sucking up to both of them.
Jesus is Lord anyway. I assume you mean Jesus has to be Lord of every area in your life? That’s impossible. We need to believe in the Savior first. - Trent
I'm confused by this. I don't understand how anything he said here is contrary to the Gospel. Incomplete? Yes. But you can take 30 seconds out of any one of our gospel proclamations and it could be construed as incomplete. Romans 10:9 is clear - "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in Your heart that God raised Him from the dead you shall be saved." He must be Lord AND Savior. I havent been a huge David Platt fan as of late, but this feels uncharitable. Is he really giving a formula for salvation or is addressing nominal "Christianity?" In the "culturally christian" west we certainly have a Lordship problem, that is to say people who can intellectually agree with the Gospel, but who havent really placed their trust in Jesus and in His work upon the cross.
The “confess… that Jesus is Lord” is simply coming to an agreement that Jesus is who he says he is. This obviously has to be done. But this does not mean telling everyone he is Lord, making him Lord, or turning to him in Lordship. It just agreeing that he is who he claimed to be. The Jews very clearly rejected this. After a person realizes “oh yeah! Jesus is God in the flesh who died for me!” And they believe it…. They are saved. It’s not Lordship. It’s understanding the truth and believing it. - Trent
@@BibleLine Thank you brother this is the answer I was looking for . I watched this video on platt too . And I understood the Gospel from Romans 10:9 too but I know Jesus Christ is GOD / Lord and that He died for all our sins past present future with death burial Resurrection as the payment for our sins by the shedding of His Powerful Innocent Precious Blood on the cross. Again So if a person hears Romans 10:9 in the Gospel they are basically agreeing with GOD that Jesus is GOD/ Lord and that He paid for all our sins If they believe that they are Saved right ? I always thought that lordship salvation was no free will , no Grace , works and predestination Heresy. Modern phariseeism doctrine. I never agreed with it but I did believe that the Holy Spirit will help you to change and convict you and lead and comfort only by The power of GOD not man/ carnal mind because left up to us and not being convicted by the Holy Spirit we cannot please GOD in our flesh. No man is good no not one.
@@BibleLine I was so embarrassed because I struggled with not asking the right questions. I was tricked by some of the lordship salvationist false doctrine and I am trying to unlearn some of it because people are teaching verses out The Bible out of context. But I read it myself and it never matches what they are saying so they start calling me a "liar" ray comfort and his followers just called me a " liar" last week for me defending The Gospel of Jesus Christ. But they always go to these men self help books but not The Bible But it sounds strange to me and what they say when they misinterpreted Scripture. They are basically saying that their own works are greater than THE POWERFUL PRECIOUS INNOCENT BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST. I believe that what they are spewing is doctrines of demons and not of The Word of GOD.
Amen, coming from the heart.. Luke 6:45-49 “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. FOR OUT OF THE ABUNDANCE OF THE HEART HIS MOUTH SPEAKS. “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? “Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: “He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. “But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.” I find it interesting that after that which concerns what the mouth speaks/the heart we get these words from our Lord. If we confess Him as LORD we are confessing Him as such, our master, owner, whom we follow as Lord.
Whoa, whoa,whoa... You are completely reading into James just what isn't there. It has nothing to do with rewards at the judgment seat of Christ. How can you just sit right there with a straight face and casually read that into the text? It says that a dead faith is worthless. WORTHLESS. Even without respect to rewards, a faith that keeps one out of hell is anything but worthless. James is a complete refutation of the false idea that a person can profess Christ but have no fruit whatsoever to demonstrate that faith. "Show me your faith with your works, and I will show you my faith by my works" - James cannot be any more clear. Genuine faith in Jesus Christ produces something. James is not saying that our works save us, or even that our works contribute to our salvation. He is saying that genuine faith is always evidenced by something. When Jesus Christ is working in a person, there is evidence that Jesus Christ is working in a person. There is a genuine love of the brethren, and a genuine hatred of sin, and a striving to be free of sin and be separate from the world. This isn't the cause of salvation, it's the result of salvation. When Abraham believed God, it was counted him for righteousness. Then what? He did something. Go through the faith hall of fame in Hebrews and consider how many of those lauded for their faith demonstrated their faith by action. All of them. When Jesus healed the lame person, He told him to pick up his bed and walk. That man didn't say, "I know I am healed", yet remain laying there from then on, begging. The idea that you can have saving faith in Jesus Christ and still live a life of unrepentant sin is so completely foreign to the Bible, and the early church faithers. Only the Gnostics believed such a thing. It was the Gnostics that 1 John was rebuking. It is why it opens with emphasizing the physical aspect of Christ's body, and why John makes it clear that those who are born of God do not continue in sin. The more I watch these videos of yours, the more I am beginning to worry.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man’s all. For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil. We are either following our LORD Yeshua or we are following the devil. 1 John 3:4-10 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.
The context of this passage (and what it's referencing with regards to sin) is about faith in Christ and obedience to the gospel message, not in living a completely perfect and sinless life. Many passages in the bible point to the fact that we will stumble and that we will wrestle with the flesh. Sanctification is a lifelong action that takes place by the work of the Holy Spirit within us (and as a response to our obedience to the gospel), not the other way around.
@@photoniccannon2117 Verse 4 clearly points out that sin is lawlessness. It is transgression of the law. A sinless life was not what I was pointing out though. We either keep His Comandments or not. We follow Him or we do not. Galatians 5:16-18 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. No one has to sin, for we are freed from sin which both Jesus and Paul are very clear about.
@@TorahLove- "For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and of the pharisees, that you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 5:20
@@photoniccannon2117 Amen, our righteousness has to exceed that of the Pharisees to enter the Kingdom. Keep the commandments outwardly and inwardly. From the heart. They ultimately were not truly keeping His Law because they had wicked hearts and they did not love God or their neighbor. 1 Timothy 1:5 Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith,
Lordship salvationists have a false dichotomy: odd mental assent or faith in Jesus PLUS works. That is a TRAP! It is like me saying, is the sun hot and square or cold and circle. It is hot and circle, not cold or square. The issue here as always is this: do not ADD works into faith in Christ Jesus for eternal life, the Galatian error. We absolutely should do as God wants us to do but that is discipleship. This is why lordshippers are soooo much lacking grace and forgiveness especially for christians sinning, but we should not choose to sin. Sometimes it makes me wonder like do these pastors have a closed meeting and they only read each others' notes... like come on, for one, read James 2 lordshippers. As Jesse pointed out, Demons believe there is ONE God. Believing in one God does not save you from hellfire, but neither does defining faith in Jesus as... WORKS included in faith. Just become a roman catholic. I at least like to listen to catholics because they ADMIT you must have righteous works in their heretical system to enter heaven and glory. Also, could y'all say a prayer for me? I have had issues with ocd and some fleshly issues a lot recently. I wanna overcome but it is very tough.
I am writing as a brother in Christ. Please spend more of your valuable time teaching us about the bible and LESS time criticizing other pastors. Blessings to you.
Respectfully, Pastor Jesse does a wonderful job of teaching the Bible, and he does so in not only every video, but especially in every sermon preached. We are told to mark and avoid false prophets, and that's all Jesse is doing here. Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. Romans 16:17-18 KJV God Bless You!
Hey there! Thanks for putting it kindly. In all honesty, we do. Check our live section. In defense, Paul the Apostle picked apart the teachings of many false teachers. John, Peter and James did similarly. Apostates, Gnostics, Judaizers, False teachers, etc… - Trent
From a beaten sheep here, I can tell you that this is the best presentation of a false gospel that you will see because it's done in pure love. If you're walking down the street and you see a child walking towards an open manhole cover, not paying attention, are you going to warn them? Or you going to let them fall in? Pastor Jesse is warning them.
@@catherinegray1367 I do not believe that is the case. Pastor Jesse, with regards to Pastor Greg Laurie, is wrong. Pastor Jesse is not the authority on this subject. Our Lord is. Research Greg Laurie for yourself and see if you believe he is a calvinist, like Pastor Greg claims him to be.
@@takecare6832we could also take a simple look at the scriptures to understand what Mr. Laurie teaches is heretical and unbiblical. God is not a respecter of persons, neither should we be, primarily and especially if what someone states speaks against what scripture plainly teaches. Salvation is different from discipleship. Salvation is a one time event, requiring nothing but putting trust in the finished work on the cross of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his FULL payment for our sins, as well as his burial and resurrection (defeating both sin and death in one fell swoop). God Bless!
This is one of the most convoluted reaction videos I’ve ever seen. Platt never at any point even suggests, “good works save you,” yet you repeatedly insinuate that he does. This is very bad form. You even put a mutant scheme of salvation on his lips at minute 16:00, which he never articulated. It’s always scary when a channel with such shoddy exegesis and such scant interactive generosity gains traction.
Respectfully, I didn’t attack your character. I attacked the presentation as convoluted and incompetent. I think videos like this are harmful because they suggest that Platt believes something other than salvation by grace through faith alone. He obviously does not (clear eyed engagement with his content would not permit the contrary). Your channel consistently represents any discussion of works as somehow a subtle introduction of a false gospel. You fail to distinguish between justification and sanctification; Platt does not.
Cont. You are also completely mischaracterizing what Platt is saying. He is not saying lip service is salvation. He is not saying that we should wake up in the morning and say anything. He is painting a picture of a heart that is genuinely wanting to follow after Jesus. He is saying that those who are saved have a heart to want to follow Jesus and obey the Bible. And this is true. If you can find someone saying that you have to live a life of sinless perfectionism to be saved, or even if you have to do works to be saved, then you would have a point. You are constructing a strawman as if that's the case, because the problem you really have, is with people who say that those who are saved by faith have been transformed into new creations who have a genuine desire to do righteousness, and who will overcome sin and continue in sanctification. You are taking the scriptures that talk about salvation by faith and you are blowing them up to the exclusion of the rest of the Apostles teachings. You are actually the one presenting a false gospel. Paul told us to not be deceived - those who commit blatant sin will not enter inherit the kingdom of God. Yet, you are saying that it's not a salvation issue if a person chooses to continue in blatant sin. That is a hellish, deceitful false gospel. Period!
Jesse Martinez is NUTS. Apparently, he’s never read “A good tree doesn’t produce bad fruit.” Also, ol’ Jesse has never read, “If you confess with your mouth Jesus is LORD…” Apparently ol’ Jesse believes that having to believe that Jesus is LORD is a WORK. He loves to put up a strawman argument that misrepresents ‘Lordship salvation’ and then tear THAT down. Funny, how so many preachers think OTHER preachers are unteachable when usually it’s just their own particular pet peeve is what they harp about. I recently listened to a dozen sermons just randomly by this dude, and in every one of them he ends up ATTACKING somebody or something. Discernment is one thing. A continuous critical spirit is something else. He really comes across as finding fault with almost EVERYBODY. ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ’ MEANS to TRUST in the Lord Jesus Christ. A Person. Not just having an intellectual accent to a particular doctrine. Faith is ACTING on what you believe. Otherwise it’s DEAD Faith. And ACTING on what you believe is NOT a Salvation work, or WORKING for your salvation. Regardless of what this dude says.
Nice edit after my comment. Anyway… Romans 4:5 and 11:6 clearly dissociate the idea of faith from works. You cannot say faith is acting on what you believe. You’re literally redefining a term. Faith is believing. Full stop. Faith is not qualified by works or lack thereof. Eph. 2:8-9 is clear that works are not required. Titus 3:5 is clear that our righteousness is not required. Jesse attacks the false doctrines because Lordship teachers proclaim a message that does not send people to heaven. Jesus Christ is the only way; not our good works. John 14;6, Acts 4:12. It is simply believing in what Christ died to pay for your sin. Period. John 3:15-18. - Trent
Nope. You are redefining the term belief. You are using it in the same way James did in James 2:19 when he applied it to the demons. They “believe” and tremble. They simply believe a FACT. What do demons “believe”? They believe that Jesus is Lord. They believe that He arose from the dead. You, in pretty much every sermon I’ve heard you preach, take that SAME basic definition and apply it to salvation. As simply a FACT and nothing more. Saving faith, or saving “belief” is defined in Hebrews 11:1 “Faith is substance of things hoped for. The evidence of things not seen.” That’s why it’s EVIDENCE of things not seen. One can’t SEE faith. The writer (btw I think that was Paul, though I wouldn’t die on that Hill lol) then spends the rest of the chapter (the Hall of Faith) giving us examples of what SAVING faith (“belief”, I.e. TRUST) looks like. The way I’ve heard you use the word, ANYBODY that says they have “belief” is a Christian. As long as the “believe” that Jesus died for their sins, He is God, and He arose from the dead. Even if there’s never ANYTHING in the rest of their life that’s flowed out of that “belief”. Also, I’m willing to bet that you have not one time in your life ever wondered what the word “evidence” in Hebrews 11:1 was referring to. If you have, you probably just think of things you’d get at a Frank Turek talk. Nope. In Heb 11:1 the “Substance” is referring to Christ. And the “Evidence of things not seen” is the resulting changed life that flows from the faith or “belief” in that Christ. ( That’s WHY the writer spends the rest of the chapter after 11:1 giving us examples of what that faith/belief looks like. But what you seem to do is accuse others of preaching a gospel of works if anyone even SUGGESTS that good works, I.e. a changed life (to SOME degree) should eventually follow true saving faith. Like they are deliberately and intentionally putting the cart before the horse. What confuses ME, is that you are a bright guy, and you should obviously KNOW that they are NOT putting the cart before the horse, so why do you keep accusing them of that? After all, we are a NEW creation. There ARE going to be some NEW works. (Unless one drops dead in the next minute after salvation lol) And because there ARE going to be some, is NOT saying that Works has anything to do with our salvation (Getting Saved) Methinks, you would be off going after the Joel Osteens of the world. To me, it just seems you see heretics everywhere. And there ARE a lot of them out there. But not where you’re seeing them.
The very definition of faith is not understood. You don't have to go tell everyone(works) but if you have assured faith there is no ever denying Christ. (not works) Why did the head pastor still not show the definition of what faith is in Hebrew 11:1 and look at all translations? Yes it's rediculous the demons can be saved. They have personal knowledge of God and his ways therfore cannot live by unseen faith like we can. You must ask the question more simply about works. Will there ever be 1 good work that comes from an assured believer vs that of a non believer? 🤔 Will an assured believer never confess it to himself when it's in his heart? These two things are likely an inevitability and also misunderstood? If you tith or have given money to the homeless for Jesus then technically you have done at least one good work than that of the unbeliever? The main issue is can you have faith and then ever deny? Yes faith does save without tithing and giving to the poor.
I (the editor) answered you. Your Lordship and Calvinistic leaning is inaccurate according to the scripture. If you want the definition on Faith answered, go to our live section and scroll a little bit. We did a series called “All About Faith.” In that series he does talk it through. - Trent
@97Napkins Okay. That’s interesting. The comments you give seems to imply that a believer must have zero doubts at all, or they were never saved. - Trent
That’s impossible. No one is saved. Every time you sin, you’re lapsing in faith. This would be ultimately doubting the promises of God. Therefore, the believer is either perfect, or no one is a believer (in you’re scenario). - Trent
Pastor Jesse is and can be wrong in his assessment of whether a pastor is following the Word. Pastor Jesse, with regards to Pastor Greg Laurie, is wrong. Pastor Jesse is not the authority on this subject. Our Lord is. Research Greg Laurie for yourself and see if you believe he is a calvinist, like Pastor Jesse claims him to be.
I can never understand how Pastors get so hung up on “calvinism” the Bible teaches BOTH. I’m not a pure Calvinist since the Bible makes it clear on both subjects of the matter. Imagine you get to heaven and there is a door that says “enter this door for the kingdom of heaven the choice is yours” so you enter the door and on the other side says “chosen before the foundation of the world” It’s really not that difficult to comprehend lol
Im absolutely baffled how david platt preaches a pure gospel and so many Christian nationalist come out so hard against him, wake up people the way is narrow and many who confess Christ wont make heaven
@@wadeh777 you seriously need to wake up and not be deceived by a false Calvanist teacher like Platt. I left that demonic church who preaches Calvanism. Jesus is Lord and Saviour no matter you believe it or not. You can't make him Lord of Saviour he already is.
Awesome. Keep these videos coming!
By grace through faith
Luther said, and i agree, that Christ preached the law during the sermon on the Mount and not the Gospel. The sermon on the Mount is law.
Acts 2:36 KJV: Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Amén! Keep exposing these wicked heretics!
1. Demons cannot believe in the gospel. They just know who the Lord is
2. Faith without works is to believers to keep going with faith not for them to keep their salvation
3. No one will be justified by works
Many of us got saved with the joy of the Lord and were organically wanting to serve Christ and love others.
Great comment. I agree
I read Platt's book Radical. As a woman, his book made it seem like if I wasn't adopting children or doing something extreme (according to his standards) I wasn't in the faith. This book infiltrated Biblebelieving churches with a works-based gospel.
Jesus is the Lord!!! You don't make him Lord. God already did that!!!

I am still a bit in pain and soreness
I didn't know and it was hard to see
What was causing this yesterday or last night
I just found out rather late enough
That I was being exposed to gas leak
Poisoning ( freon)
Was gushing out the pipe ( tubes )
That was causing me to be really sick physically and maybe mentally in Spiritually.
Please pray for me ❤️🙏

Discipleship comes after salvation and it is not guaranteed.

“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." Matthew 16:24
Sounds guaranteed to me.
Jesse is a worthy successor to Yankee. I enjoy these videos that he does on these pasrtors and preachers.
David Platt is, I believe, a hardcore Calvinist also, which is another wrinkle in his mixed up theology.
YAH bless u.
How do I share the gospel with my 4 year old grandchild? I don't want him to be afraid of God.
Hey there. I’m a father of a 3 1/2 year old, and I’ve been sharing it with him for a while. I use the jacob’s ladder (wordless book) and five fingers. You can just use colors. Kids love this.
Gold - explain heaven simply (God is there, no bad there, no sin there)
Black/splotchy - sin (God doesn’t like this, bad stuff we do, the reason we die - and even explain hell. They can understand heaven is “up” and the flames are “down.”)
Red - Jesus died for us.

@@BibleLineOh Baloney. You guys pretty much discredit the character of EVERYBODY.
Woke David Platt 🤦
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me (Jesus Christ) hath everlasting life."
Jesus paid your price on the cross, was buried and is risen again.
Amen, these pastors,as platt, confuse having a good testimony to others with acual salvation.

Boilerplate lordship salvation. Backdooring works into the Gospel.
He’s been listening to much to Francis Chan.
It’s funny you should mention that guy, because I used to read this Christian blog run by a guy who brought up both Platt and Chan on an almost weekly basis. You could really tell he was sucking up to both of them.
This is a reach bro. Taken out of context.
I agree with David Platt. If Jesus is not your Lord, He probably is not your Saviour
Jesus is Lord anyway. I assume you mean Jesus has to be Lord of every area in your life? That’s impossible. We need to believe in the Savior first.
- Trent
you wanna go down the lordship salvation rabbit hole…go ahead…bad move tho. TULIP is false.
What drives these commentators to be fixated in David Platt? Weird.
You are posting verses that totally disprove your point, I’m confused.
Sinned? Are you saying you do not sin anymore?
He is shaming people
This pastor telling Jesus is Lord is kinda running round the bush.

And I understood the Gospel from Romans 10:9 too but I know Jesus Christ is GOD / Lord and that He died for all our sins past present future with death burial Resurrection as the payment for our sins by the shedding of His Powerful Innocent Precious Blood on the cross.
Again So if a person hears Romans 10:9 in the Gospel they are basically agreeing with GOD that Jesus is GOD/ Lord

If they believe that they are Saved right ?
I always thought that lordship salvation was no free will , no Grace , works and predestination Heresy. Modern phariseeism doctrine.

But they always go to these men self help books but not The Bible

I believe that what they are spewing is doctrines of demons and not of The Word of GOD.

Luke 6:45-49
“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. FOR OUT OF THE ABUNDANCE OF THE HEART HIS MOUTH SPEAKS.
“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?
“Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like:
“He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.
“But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”
I find it interesting that after that which concerns what the mouth speaks/the heart we get these words from our Lord.
So you're either back loading or front loading the gospel with works like a calvinist
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man’s all.
For God will bring every work into judgment,
Including every secret thing,
Whether good or evil.
We are either following our LORD Yeshua or we are following the devil.
1 John 3:4-10
Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Way to attack our character rather than present valid biblical response using the scriptures. David believes in “Making Him Lord” to be saved.
- Trent
Apparently, he’s never read “A good tree doesn’t produce bad fruit.”
Also, ol’ Jesse has never read, “If you confess with your mouth Jesus is LORD…”
Apparently ol’ Jesse believes that having to believe that Jesus is LORD is a WORK.
Interesting way to comment. We have read such a passage. Would you care to expound upon your point?
- Trent
@@BibleLineNope. I think I was pretty clear. I didn’t stutter. Lol.
Saving faith, or saving “belief” is defined in Hebrews 11:1
“Faith is substance of things hoped for.
That’s WHY the writer spends the rest of the chapter after 11:1 giving us examples of what that faith/belief looks like.
(Unless one drops dead in the next minute after salvation lol) And because there ARE going to be some, is NOT saying that Works has anything to do with our salvation (Getting Saved)
Methinks, you would be off going after the Joel Osteens of the world.
To me, it just seems you see heretics everywhere. And there ARE a lot of them out there. But not where you’re seeing them.
And would you ever change anything no matter WHAT was said? Nope. You can’t. It’s YOUR pet peeve. Lol
- Trent
I am not calvinist or believe in determinism. I am not specifically denominational? I guess you could describe me as OSAS with unforsakable faith.
@97Napkins Okay. That’s interesting. The comments you give seems to imply that a believer must have zero doubts at all, or they were never saved.
- Trent
Yes that is what I am saying
That’s impossible. No one is saved. Every time you sin, you’re lapsing in faith. This would be ultimately doubting the promises of God.
Therefore, the believer is either perfect, or no one is a believer (in you’re scenario).

Pastor Jesse is and can be wrong in his assessment of whether a pastor is following the Word. Pastor Jesse, with regards to Pastor Greg Laurie, is wrong. Yep! Just as pastor Jesse said, Laurie is a Calvinist!
His church's statement of faith is extremely clear on that fact.
Yeah, listened a lot of Greg Laurie before I was saved. He is definitely a Calvinist.
