thx for the video dude - had installed airbags on the rear - kept the bump stops in place so the back was then higher - also installed 285 tires so clearance at front was a bit too tight - put 6 turns into the torsion bars and increased clearance by 1 1/2in at the front - much better now.
So, I purchased a 2003 LX470 that has the land cruiser suspension on it. No air ride. But the front is sitting super low compared to the rear. would this video be any use for me
It will adjust the steering a bit due to the movement of the pivot points. I'd advise getting a wheel alignment afterwards. It could chew your tyres weirdly if not done.
@@69_vw_westi I have a 2018 LC200, not sure I even have the ability to make these adjustments, my my passenger side is 1/4 inch lower than my driver side, barely can tell but it bugs me knowing
The problem with leveling trucks is carrying a load or towing. Once loaded the front end is higher than the rear and ruins the ride, reduces towing capacity and can also create steering and front end issues. I use my trucks as meant to be used. If you insist on leveling please adjust your damn headlights.
I cranked torsion bars because it was lower on the driver side. Vehicle did level but a few days later it got lower than where it was before. Wheels were tilted inside too noticeably. Any suggestions? ( haven’t done wheel alignment yet, wanted to make sure torsion bars sit properly)
HAi i Have a lc100 but my vehicle problems in suspension bumps on roads at all conditions I am replacing it all shock and accumulator but still same complaint how to solve the problem.
@@Thatguyy7439 Interesting, I have 100 that I removed AHC from last year and replaced it with OME heavy duty shocks and torsion bars and springs from other non AHC versions.
You Re the man.... I was think about the front level too low and the tires size. I think I will try to do the same. What is the highest we can go? I have a 2006
Hi man thanks for the video . I have a lc 100 series too and I just bought shock absorbers and coil springs for rear to give my car Abit of a lift . Do I need to change the torsion bars too to heavy duty or I can still use the original torsion that came in the car . Thank you
Great vid, I'm about to add a spacer to my rear susp and adjust my TBs, it was very smart to index the bolt head with marks. And yes PB Blaster is your best friend!
pretty sure (maybe) raising your torsion bars without replacing your front shocks for longer shocks will mess with the fronts shocks ability to dampen correctly?
What if I like the height of the front but want to lower the back? Can the back height be adjusted/ dropped? Please let me know. Super helpful. For LX470.
Oh man huge thanks for this video, i own an 01 hundy and just about to hit 200K now. It's old enough that i can start taking it offroad without regret if something breaks. I plan on doing a rear spring spacer (30mm) to lift it and the front i want to lift it an inch by the TB crank method. With this, would it be enough to run 295/65/18 without rubbing? I'm not doing any crazy off roading, maybe some hill climbs and mud pit here and there. Thanks.
No Problem! Why the 30mm spacer? I run 295/70r18 Nitto Mud Grapplers. A little rub up front, but i took care of that with a trim to the fender liner. My tires almost measure 35". Hope that helps.
Oh 30mm spacer for the rear springs, not the wheel hub. 30mm equals about 1.1" so if i crank the front TB up 4 rotations like you did i can get an even 1" lift correct? Good to know i can run 295/70/18.
Yes I believe we're talking about the same. Check your shock before installing the spacer. Maybe your shock or the spring is old. Mine has 195k and my springs are soft and need to be changed out. Measure your rear from center cap of wheel to your tip of your quarter panel.
they are soft? springs don't change rate they just change compressed length, or in the case of torsion bars twist slowly over time. did you have it aligned and what are the current fender to hub measurements, you may want to find a nice level piece of ground and loosen the front sway bar to make it a bit easier to corner level the suspension? also it would be cool to see what the fender to hub measurements are at full compression, maybe ill do a video and loosen them down all the way and talk a bit about some of the things i find quite interesting on the 100 series ifs vs the 3rd gen 4runner and 80 series setups.
Awesome, thanks for the recommendation, will that spring ride any different than stock springs? Mine are pretty comfy right now for street cruising so i don't want to lose that ride quality. Will it lift the rear at all?
Hi. Good video. I'm considering buying 100 4.2 diesel. When you adjusting barrs may be worth checking rear suspension level as well as it may affect the front. Cheers
Nice video. Do you recall about how much room you had to work with on the adjustment bolt when you started? I have about an inch or so of threads to work with and was hoping for 1.5 inches of lift before having to re-index. Thanks.
+Matthew Garland Hmmm. I don't think based on how much thread you have that's how much lift you'll get. I would start of with maybe 5 complete turns and see how much lift and threads you have left. Don't forget to measure

and the Landcruiser is designed to have a 60mm drop in the front for high speed stability
Great video. Exactly what I’ve been looking for. Own a LC 100 ‘99 and been waiting to adjust the torsion bar until now. Keep it coming!
Thanks
Just a safety tip.....never slide under vehicle when on a jack without using some blocks or jackstands. I have seen jacks fail!
Thank You

Sir, thank you!
Man, about time someone has completed a video for the Land Cruiser 100 series stock torsion bar.
Side Note: I have a 99 LC too.
BMOREHeavySack DIY-Days Thanks
Awesome video. About to do this my ‘04 Hundo!
Would like your build video playlist!
great video bro... straight to the point.. thanks for helping me lift my cruiser
Evo K Thank you! Don't forget to subscribe. More videos coming soon.
You were able to fit 295/70/18 tires on stock suspension?
what did this to you alighnment ?
It will adjust the steering a bit due to the movement of the pivot points. I'd advise getting a wheel alignment afterwards. It could chew your tyres weirdly if not done.

AHC is $$ to repair
Most simply convert to land cruisers type spring/torsion bar and shocks used in the non-AHC models
Shouldn't you move the back and fourth after lowering it from the jack?
Great video! Seriously, thanks for sharing! Two thumbs up
Do you need a front end alignment after? Or doesn't everything stay in alignment? Thanks!
Alignment would be ideal, yes!
AHC still in?
These didn’t have AHC-only the Lexus version (LX470) did.
@@Thatguyy7439 Interesting, I have 100 that I removed AHC from last year and replaced it with OME heavy duty shocks and torsion bars and springs from other non AHC versions.
Did you remove the automatic height control feature on your cruiser? You needed an alignment afterwards too right?
Only the Lexus LX470 has that feature...
do all truck/body on frame car have torsion bars? F150?
Depends on the year. For F150's some are leaf sprung, some have torsion bars, and some have independent front ends
where is the part 2 of rear tire carrier

man, how we do torsion bar on the REAR? thanks
I don’t believe the land cruiser has torsion bars in the rear. Instead it has a coil spring and shock
how to adjustment AHC height sensor FRONT/REAR?

94Greenbean Thank you
Hi dude how many inch upgrade your torsion bar for optimal?
Is the suspension stock?
Someone tell me what’s the name of those wheels and where can I find em ?
Chya Yasin they are the factory standard steel wheels on IFS 100 Series in Australia
I have a set for sale

Hi,
Please make a detailed video of any suspension modifications. Thank you.
Ana Ana yep that's what my plans are Thanks
What if I like the height of the front but want to lower the back? Can the back height be adjusted/ dropped? Please let me know. Super helpful. For LX470.
hmmm I don't think you can lower you rear. sorry
Don't these vehicle's have a natural sag in the front from factory?
Yes but after 100,000 it sags even more. Mine had 200,000 so it really needs it.
Have you found any issues with cracking around the TB front mount due to the extra pre load on the TB post adjusting?
did you get the front end re aligned? good video
How do I get the running boards off tho?! Lol

Hi. Good video. I'm considering buying 100 4.2 diesel. When you adjusting barrs may be worth checking rear suspension level as well as it may affect the front. Cheers
