BRITISH PATHÉ'S STORY
Before television, people came to movie theatres to watch the news. British Pathé was at the forefront of cinematic journalism, blending information with entertainment to popular effect. Over the course of a century, it documented everything from major armed conflicts and seismic political crises to the curious hobbies and eccentric lives of ordinary people. If it happened, British Pathé filmed it.
Now considered to be the finest newsreel archive in the world, British Pathé is a treasure trove of 85,000 films unrivalled in their historical and cultural significance.

My Mum usually went to work from that station. She decided to go to another because she wanted to have a walk. She would have been there had she not decided to go on a walk about. Later we lived in Stanmore. The owner of the house we lived in was there at the station as the crash occurred. He said "I literally had my hand on the carriage handle and this almighty bang happened and the carriage was gone".
my Dad was there, awaiting his train into London. He was 20. He witnessed the crashes and likely (??) assisted with helping bodies and injured. He told my mother (they were engaged) and said he never wanted to speak of it again. We kids were never told. As adults we were never told I only learned this info from my cousin 4 years ago as she heard it from our Nan (mom's mother whom mom told). He must've been traumatized
I wish public use of British Pathe wasn't so horribly expensive for facilities like our museum in British Columbia. A short 7-8 minute clip of the Prince of Wales (Edward VIII) visiting our town, our local hospital, and our WWI veterans. We were told it would be over $10k to obtain the rights to show it in the display regarding the visit by the Prince plus a huge yearly fee to be able to continue showing this part of history. And that was the learning institute fees, not their standard commercial licensing. While we are appreciative that so much of BP's extensive catalog is available for viewing on their website for free it would have been good for our visitors to actually watch the Prince during his visit to Canada as part of our local history, instead of just reading about it on a sign.
Does the UK not have an expiration of rights? In the US we have a concept of "once this piece of media is X decades old, it enters the public domain and is free to use for anyone". Granted, we're losing that right at the moment, as the required number of decades rises at a rate of about one per decade...
British built is among the safest in the world. Especially our trains and planes.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 okay...you keep believing that!! Your Socialist government has indoctrinated you well...
00:22 I don't understand why this is dated 4 days into the future. UPDATE: See the British Pathé answer in the replies.
Honestly
Exactly. Can we get some clarification?
Hi, the date refers to the film release of 'Amsterdam' as stated in the segment title on the bottom of the screen.
At 0:47 the guy pushing on the left is Mike Myers, isn't he? This is the proof that he actually IS a time traveller.
Very nice information
What year is it in the video
The second clip is from 1939 in the US. Takes a whole lot of courage to crash a fascist rally!

I can’t be the only one who thought the man in the foreground of the thumbnail looked like Tommy Shelby 😂
Happy B'Day to BBC.
You'd better hold on tight to these old clips because the West will never be the same again. It's well on its way to being gone forever. Sometime in the future, people will look back at these with anger at what's been given and thrown away.
I ‘m happy that prince William of Wales And Catherine Princess of Wales I love that couple they are so cute together and they care of their kids I bless them as a family I myself we will pray for your family your a gorgeous family “Keep the faith”
