  • Practical Vintage - My week of outfits
Even though I work from home, I still dress in vintage style every day. I love choosing practical vintage outfits that work well for working from home as well as going out if I need to. As we are in the beginning of Spring, I hope these practical vintage outfits serve as inspiration or your Spring wardrobe.

Ok -(Im 3 and a half minutes in). The hair you did today-Be perfect for daily country house living/ gardening/ going out casual shopping in town. I’ll have to work on that-simply scrunch up bangs front-side,. And a HAIRNET of all things! Never used one. Thats a perfect practical idea.

All outfits & accessories are beautiful Christine! I am a Business Professional and I also wear head scarves, brooches, flower in my hair. The day (rarely) if I don't, my colleagues think something is wrong with me. Lol 🤣
Much love to you always ❤️

This is something I have struggled with. I work outdoors with animals most of the time so as vintage as I get tends to be more Rosie the Riveter

Lovely outfits and a great idea. I'm nearly ready to chuck it all in but you have given me a little nudge. Finding vintage style clothes is the problem. But! Onward and upward. Stay at home mum by the way.

Thank you for the outfit ideas! :D One thing that might be helpful to others as a nice 'fake it' vintage item...I recently got a pair of the Old Navy Pixie pants in the wide leg style. They don't scream vintage but they are a wider leg and most importantly, they have an elastic waist and are SUPER comfortable to wear but still look like you're wearing chinos or casual slacks. I have some sensory issues with clothing and if I'm too aware of what I'm wearing, it becomes hard to concentrate. I got them in the blush pink color and wore them with an Emmy fair isle sweater I have and felt real cute and still vintage inspired. I also like that they come in petite/tall. I purposefully got mine in regular and they are the perfect length for me. They're meant to be a little cropped but on me (I'm just under 5'4") they are a great length with flatter shoes

Fab. I have only watched two minutes of your video so far. Im going to live in the country (here in Australia). So im on a mission to work out vintage housewife -y stuff, and simple yet vintage glam to wear to the store, around town etc, and maybe to a part time job i find. I glam it up, when going out here in the city, but it would feel TOO different to do up there in the bush every day. Im assuming i will have find tutorials on wrapping my hair in nice 40s / 50s headscarves (like one sees in the heads of those bygone housewives, but also -vitally for me- on the heads if the ladies who went out working to the ammunitions factories during world war two. I do not want- in toning down my city glam - to turn to today’s monstrous track suit pants and sloppy tshirts and undone hair. Its not the lack of dressing up that is awful in the country today here, but the sheer ugliness of it. Gosh theres so much ugliness in casual dressing these days. Its just not what i want for me. Makes me depressed. I will still dress a bit nicer to drive in to the bigger town to shop every fortnight. So- here i go. Looking forward to your channel. You look lovely

Hi, for my practical vintage styles. I only get to wear my vintage style twice a week due to having to wear a uniform Monday-Friday. The great news is I do style my hair in a 1940s pulled back style with a hairnet since I have to wear a baseball cap and hairnet for work 4 times a week and once a week, I will sport a 1950s turban headband style.
That being said when I do get to wear my practical vintage outfits, I mainly go for cotton button down men's work shirts in the fall, winter, or springtime. I find they fit best for my shape which is hourglass and long to the calf a line or circle skirts. And I always add a plain colored t-shirt underneath my tops. A zip cardigan, a button up cardigan, my pull on black and red Star Trek inspired crocheted by me pull on vest, my jeans jacket with my favorite patches I've sewed on, or a crocheted 1940s style scarf I made myself to help keep my neck warm.
For summer I wear Sleeveless Print Lounger dresses (from the web site Woman Within) or muumuus and I like to add a shawl to help keep me warm in the summer when I am under the air con. Also, in the summer I do have 4 pull on tops that do not need to be tucked in two are from Woman Within the Perfect Elbow-Length Sleeve Cardigan and even though these tops are cardigans I keep them buttoned when worn, I have one in the color bright cobalt and the other in pink and always wear a plain t-shirt underneath, so I am not sweating through my tops. And my two other pull on tops I wear to work so I am not walking around all day in my uniform. The trousers or shorts I am required to wear are black, so it does not look like a uniform when I am not wearing my uniform top.
At home to help keep my clothing stain free during the work week I will change clothing once I am back from work and wear a printed duster from the website Shop National. I adore these dusters so much they are made of cotton with patch pockets, and snap in front. These dusters are great especially when I had cats I needn't to worry about getting cat hair all over my work clothing.
Foot ware: Vintage inspired Sneakers in black for work these sneakers remind me of PF Flyers low tops and high tops.
Practical wear: OrthOfeet Mary Janes in black, or my 1888 Colchester sneakers in the color black. At home I wear flip flops in the summer and in winter slip on slippers that keep my toes covered with socks on.

This is such a beautiful video demonstrating how embracing a vintage lifestyle isn't just for going out but really is for you.
I have worked from home for the past seven years. I dress every day, always have my makeup, lipstick and hair done. I often spend the entire day in slippers (!) but do put on earrings and my wristwatch regardless of how unadorned everything else might be.
I truly appreciate your insight into some different work/stay at home outfits that can easily translate into something appropriate for running to the store or going out for a coffee. As always, thanks so much for all you do.

I love your practical and lovely approach! I feel like it’s an attainable goal to achieve a style like yours. Thanks for this! It was really fun. One thing I’ve found since I’m learning to sew my own clothes is that having a cute outfit doesn’t have to be uncomfortable if you are able to tailor, make yourself or get made to order. It can be the most comfortable thing to wear!

Love this and all of your outfits that transition for working from home to other events. I work from home 2 days a week now after lockdown and still find it important to do my hair and makeup. I enjoy a causal less accessorized home outfit that allows me to run and errand on lunch or toss a load of laundry in between a meeting and I still love dressing up and wearing full accessories when I am in the office. Love the practical functional and fashionable vintage tips. And yes, slippers always at home!

Exactly the kind of wear I also choose every day.I Love your Outfits ❤️Because I work in an Office I also wear Accessoires but no hat's.I wear nothing else then Vintage style if possible. Only as I worked in the Hospital last year I needed to wear White Hospital clothing. That was the first time in more than 10 years of not wearing everyday Vintage Style 😉The people at work think I need hours and hours in the bathroom in the morning because I wear my Hair Vintage styled and Vintage styled Dresses every day. They are always very surprised that I am finished very fast in the morning 😉 At home I always wear Jogging pants and Shirts....😂🙈

I work from home three days of the week and in an office for two. When I’m home I always at least wear some vintage jewelry and just try to wear something comfortable. For work I wear vintage style but I’m not a purist per se, and will mix modern pieces with vintage. However, I always wear vintage jewelry , especially brooches and bangles/cuffs/bracelets since I have a large collection. Thanks for sharing this fun video!

Super pretty outfits. I think the last one is my favorite. I especially like the dress👍 As I am watching I'm knitting a vintage jumper pattern from the 40's. It will take a looooong time to get it done, but the yarn is a beautiful silvery Green. I will have to find or make an A-line skirt to go with it.... back to knitting and watching UA-cam.

All very beautiful outfits! I also love the green print dress with the birds in the beginning. With regards to how I incorporate my vintage looks to everyday life, I'm a stay at home mother, so I dress basically in comfortable modern clothing where I don't have to worry about ruining my vintage pieces. When I go out, I try to incorporate some vintage usually with some of my vintage jewelry or I could wear a vintage inspired outfit... it really depends on my moods. I don't dress in a specific period, I buy what I like which could be 80's, 90's or modern or 1920's inspired, 40's, 50's etc etc. Love your channel!
