The technique of tissue culture is a very efficient tool to propagate better improved crops. Cells and tissues of plants are grown invitro in culture medium and are maintained in aseptic conditions. Gottlieb Haberlandt is known as the father of tissue culture. The property of plant cells to grow into a complete plant is known as Totipotency.

why do tissue cultured ORNAMENTALS throw leaves out of every possible auxiliary bud like with TC white pink princesses? i have heard it’s the hormones used in TC but. the video only talks about crops. i can see why this would be a benefit in crops, but not in ornamentals. it makes them grow funky like a crested plant with fasciation.

U are growing a type of genetic material on micro scal

@@sandeepnikam5302 Yes I know let me explain. We grew the seeds of our favorite plant and selected a phenotype. The phenotype was given to one other grower. 11 years of him propagating the plant from cuttings to harvest continually and when I get a clone of the cutting back from him the genetic expression of the pheno seems to have changed over the years through genetic drift. For example, the terpene profile has changed and the color of flowers no longer purple regardless of environment. Will tissue culture restore the original genetics of the phenotype to the way it was in the first few generations? Hybrid vigor, smell and color?
