I used to live here back in 2001. These were known as the Woodcliff Condos in Whitehall which is a suburb of Columbus Ohio. The property couldn't pass city codes for safety and sanitation and the city was forced to take ownership of the property for $9 million and all of those who remained were forced to leave around 2016. The colorful paint on the outside was to notify the city which units were empty with no tenants. The plan is for all of the buildings to be demolished in the near future and it's rumored to become more housing and space for shops and entertainment.

I was wondering if I gave an address to a condo in that neighborhood could you possibly go back & record inside? There's a very interesting fact about it that I think you'll like to see !!
It is so sad to see this and to think of the people who were forced to run away from their homes and start all over again. The fire is more likely due to vandalism.
Very reminiscent of the love canal neighborhoods , 1970s , Niagara Falls . Built on an old chemical dump, started having toxic chemicals come up into the basements of homes. The area had a high cancer rate . Everyone left, and the homes were torn down.
I dont blame you for fearing spiders!I got a stowaway brown recluse in my Hancock Fabrics apron pocket after working in the stock room and it bit my shin &cost me $380 out of pocket in antibiotics!Be careful!
The company that on these units started selling individual units for condos around 1978. That is when everything started going downhill! They are currently being used for fire rescue and search training by most of the fire departments and police in Franklin county Esparza way as the bell fountain Ohio area. It is closed off and you can be charged with trespassing! It is also very dangerous especially since the fire departments has compromised the structures with their exercises if you will notice the roofs being sawed in the walls being sawed. One unit on Broad Street was burned down as a training exercise for the Whitehall fire department back in October. I have lived in Whitehall for 65 years and It has really saddens me to see what has happened over the years!
Definitely looks like a low income development, I lived in one similar when I was younger, if they had plumping problems or other serious issues, the state comes it and shuts it down. People are usually given 30-60 days to vacate.if they don't vacate they lock you out, maybe that explains why so many material things were left behind? They also could have been given money for moving expenses, so people just say screw it, and leave it all behind or wait until last min. I've seen tenants just up an leave everything behind. 🤔

Seems like you could salvage quite a bit there? The vinyl siding, replacement widows, doors (int & ext) cabinets., plumbing, furnaces etc. Some of it looks to be in decent shape?
That area has been a shathole for years and NOTHING will change that. It was a low rent ghetto project that turned out just as it was predicted before they built the first structure.

People are commenting that may be subsidized housing. I don't think so because there was variety in the way the structures looked on the outside. Also usually low income housing have parking lots. (At least where I'm from.) I am thinking military housing except for the fact that I didn't see anything pertaining to the military anywhere such as clothes or signage.
I grew up on the east side of Columbus. As a kid in the 80s this was the coolest neighborhood on the east side. Originally it was housing for DSCC employees. It sat just on the east side of DSCC. Why are these abandoned?? With all the homeless people someone should be living in them! What’s with all the rich people they need to put money together and fix stuff so the homeless have a home
And also maintain the homes for the homeless? You expect a lot from people. Where is this obligation coming from? Who pays the utilities and taxes on these places?
Clearly if an entire neighborhood had to leave everything and evacuate because of a water problem and its not salvageable for these home owners than its obviously not ok for a billion$ homeless neighborhood either

Its not an abandoned ghost town, its a neighborhood. Literally across the street is a military finance base and the rest of the city, alive and well. People didnt have to up and leave they had notice, but most either didnt care about the stuff left behind or simply didnt have money for uhauls. There is an identical built neighborhood called parklawn less than a mile down the street thats alive and well. These homes were all old army and military housing before the base was decommissioned

Seems like you could salvage quite a bit there? The vinyl siding, replacement widows, doors (int & ext)
cabinets., plumbing, furnaces etc. Some of it looks to be in decent shape?
Hi from Oklahoma I'm new to you're channel but because you are from Oklahoma I love it 🖤
That area has been a shathole for years and NOTHING will change that. It was a low rent ghetto project that turned out just as it was predicted before they built the first structure.
Where is this
I'm so excited😍
I can not believe they had to leave there stuff or get out like that i would have fought to stay . Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤ stay safe love ya
Same here. Usually specially with children given them enough time to pack and with own cars take things belong to them
Usually it gives an excuse to throw away readers .
When u check the non ending billion cases from Italy to USA to S America etc. This goes way back even to the Alaska case 1930s
I seen cases like this several parts of USA an don't won't surprise self at all .
Just that gov local keep it under to pretend they are were will be in control an not sound the alarm of all the S all of them into it " together " got.
But then again it goes way back non of u ever were alone never will lol 😂
Can any recall back history of USA
The new England?
That's how Thanksgiving stared
The England's arrived in that part of USA now days called New England for same reason
When they arrived they. Confidentially found the area by .. completely empty
Houses intact - all utensils and all they need it.
No mention in the old history mentions they found. Trade of skeletons.
Keep messing around this time will be exactly how u all honestly deserve
People are commenting that may be subsidized housing. I don't think so because there was variety in the way the structures looked on the outside. Also usually low income housing have parking lots. (At least where I'm from.) I am thinking military housing except for the fact that I didn't see anything pertaining to the military anywhere such as clothes or signage.
Woodside Commons in Whitehall.
@@jd-no7rw What state?
@@jd-no7rw Nevermind. I see they are in Ohio.
I grew up on the east side of Columbus. As a kid in the 80s this was the coolest neighborhood on the east side. Originally it was housing for DSCC employees. It sat just on the east side of DSCC. On the west side of DSCC was greenbriar apartments which is one of the worst housing projects in Columbus. Uzi alley...
Yes I would love to here the history and story of this place and house's
We lived here on Poth Rd.from 1999-2002
Can you give the story behind this area please
WHAT HAPPENED HERE....🤔🤔🤔🤔 PLEASE SHARE....
@@mistiervin3159 When we lived there it wasn't to bad,it started going down hill after we moved. It was military base housing then turned into condos. Some condos were still privately owned and others were rented out. The guy who ran the place started becoming a slumlord.I am not sure what happened after we moved
Glad you were able to upload the video this week. Missed seeing you last week. Haven't seen your beautiful wife for awhile. Hope she's okay. Have a great week.
I would love to have all these houses,I would fixed them all develop into a beautiful place for family in need of help
These videos are interesting makes you wonder about all the families that lived there and where are they now.
So interesting, I like watching such videos. I felt bad it has been abandoned. How are you Gail, I hope you’re doing good with your family in this crazy Covid?
Why are these abandoned?? With all the homeless people someone should be living in them! What’s with all the rich people they need to put money together and fix stuff so the homeless have a home
Nobody cares Nancy
And also maintain the homes for the homeless? You expect a lot from people. Where is this obligation coming from? Who pays the utilities and taxes on these places?
Clearly if an entire neighborhood had to leave everything and evacuate because of a water problem and its not salvageable for these home owners than its obviously not ok for a billion$ homeless neighborhood either
Appreciate your work. As a point for improvement, maybe more back story? Obviously you have enough info to get your interest to travel to these places. I’d like to have more of a set up narrative. Constrictive criticism…
Understandable why no locations are given. Too many people come in not to explore but to vandalize.
It's in Whitehall burb of Colombia Ohio was. Condos
This reminds me of the Love Canal toxic waste site from the 1970’s, you’ll are too young to remember that, residents has a chance cluster, due to the dumping of Hazardous waste, ever hear of Centralia, Pennsylvania, with the underground mine fire, still burning today, started a few years b4 I was hatched, crazy!! Only a few residents refused to leave, some are still there, toxic smoke, cancer cluster I meant to type about Love Canal. Safe travels.
You are my biggest inspiration, keep it up man!
Is it possible that most of these people had no place to go or room for their belongings. Possibly living in their cars, shelters, run down motels or on the streets.😣😢
All the playboy magazines you found in the house reminds me of this guys house I went to one time and he had his whole coffee table filled with playboy magazines, like they were just normal magazines. He ended up jumping from a 5 story parking garage/building…
Maybe they had to leave everything behind. Because it had chemicals on it. That would make them sick. That is why they had to move out.
Not buying this big b! Seeing them doors kicked in like they are, the shambles in which those homes were left, the photos left behind, yeah, something stinks, and I dont think it's just the plumbing issues. Be nice to see if you could get more info on this place. Cause something just ain't right.
That’s just the vandalism afterwards
@@BigBankz agree about the vandalism but still curious as to why it’s abandoned and so much left behind. Many reasons all the places could be abandoned (like you said, toxic etc) but all the stuff left behind is what makes no sense especially photos
@@BigBankz no disrespect was intended. I just think there was more behind the people leaving a whole community. I also think it would be nice to know more of the history of it. I know you can't divulge the location, and I respect that. I'm just more curious of the history is all...
Most likely contaminated water supply. IMO
This is unreal. I feel for those that had to leave their homes. God bless them.🙏
God Bless you. Be safe.

I think of students who could achieve amazing experience through applying education in the rebuild of places like this.
Looking out the place looks nice to live in,looks so nice n calm, but sadly owners of those houses left because of their safety, life is so precious more than anything u could imagine
This place is bizarre! Looks like vandals have really had a heyday in this neighborhood.
I thought so as well, I felt bad it has been abandoned. How are you Liz… I hope you’re doing good with your family in this crazy Covid?
Looks like some place from a science fiction movie 🎬 cool video thanks guys scary 😨 😬
It's all very 'Walking Dead' apart from the mown grass. I really enjoy your videos. 😁👍
Same here, hi Nicole how are you doing with your family I hope you’re safe from the virus?
Sound nice. Same here, I do hope you’re safe from the virus?
Same here the videos are amazing. How are you doing with your family I do hope you’re safe from the virus?
Awesome thank you hun x
Awesome job on this exploration Big Bankz!
Also, look up Adak, Alaska. That's wild. I lived there as a kid in the early 90s. The Navy abandoned it in 97. Almost totally vacant now.
I found Abandoned Homes eerily Beautiful
hello, i'm Jorge, a pilot from Lima peru, working with LATAM airline. i came across your page here through the utube suggestion for me so i thought to write to you. where are you from?
Write me when you can and do have a nice day and may God bless you^°
Awesome video! This place was so cool!
And the door they came out in a hurry and as to why? It shocks my mind in so many ways. I hope 🙏 that families remain together. Love your videos tough they beat me.
