I honestly never watch spoiler free reviews because I like to go into books not knowing anything about it other than a very brief synopsis and I get those from other videos like wrap ups, tbrs of hauls. But I love to watch spoiler sections after I've read the book!
I think you should do a spoiler free portion of your reviews, and then the rest should be with spoilers because I like how reviews are like book talks kind of like Christine does
you can do 1 video with two parts: the first one to be a no spoiler review and the second part to be a spoiler review / discussion (like jessethereader or polandbananasbooks) it would be really cool because with the "discussion " you can discuss with us your favorite or worst parts, you can "fangirl " with us which I find it really nice because when I see someone to have the same opinions with me or to love and laugh with the same parts of the book with me, I feel more "connected" in a way, with the other person....you know...but, overall I love your reviews, however, it would be nice if you did this change...
Getting rid of the books you don't want will help 100% and maybe spending the extra money to get movers to lift the heavy boxes. But make sure you keep an eye on them because when I moved they left my books outside 😒
I found this really cool reading challenge where I have to read different kinds of books by different kinds of people! It's called the 2017 Ultimate Reading Challenge. It's 52 books (one a week, so super manageable). Some of the challenges are so fun! A couple examples are "a book written by someone younger than you", "a book by someone who isn't a writer", "a memoir", "a book with a character with your first name", and "a book taking place where you live now". It's a great reading exercise that gets you reading more than just your favorite genre/author.
I'm also (hopefully) graduating this year and I also have nooo idea where I'll end up at the end of this year! Good luck with all of your goals :) One of my goals is also to read more diverse books and I'm so excited to get into that! I hope you get to read Simon vs the Homo sapiens Agenda soon because it's AMAZING! I loved it so so much and read it in one go!
if you want to dive further into world literature i strongly recommend erich kästner to you. he ist one of THE german children classics writer. the flying classroom is one of the most important books of him. i also really liked anna louise and anton. the books are very very popular with children, but also with the adults, because kästner likes to write about miral things that apply to you in regard of your horizon as a child or a grown-up.
I think you do a great job with your reviews. I wouldn't change a thing. The fact that they do not have spoilers is one of the main reasons I like them so much😊
Girl I feel you! It's my last semester of nursing school and I have no idea where I'll be working or if I'll still be living at home! It's scary but also super exciting! Good luck! I love your videos (you are my favorite booktuber) 🤗!
I'm so glad someone else sits there wanting to read but doesn't actually move to do it! Definitely something I need to work on. I wouldn't worry to much about your reviews being your least watched videos, I know that they're the videos I watch the least across the board as I will only watch them if it's a book I really want to read. Hope you have a fantastic 2017
The challenges are my issues with goodreads. That's why I only have a goal of twelve. I work full time, sometimes I just don't have the time to read or the energy to focus. Also the low number allows me to read long books instead of worrying about making my goal and choosing shorter books.
So many books on your TBR that I am looking forward to seeing reviews on :3 My goal this year is to read a book a week and hopefully read some newer releases because after two or three years of really horrible reading numbers (thanks, college, moving, and third kid LOL), I haven't read much of anything new. I subscribed to owlcrate to purposefully end up with physical new current books! Good luck on your TBR and resolutions this year. And congrats on the final year of university! :D
Awesome video, Hailey! Best of luck to you to get your TBR pile downsized, know I'm mega working on mine this year, and also best of luck out on your own once you graduate! The only thing I'm concerned with as far as my TBR right now is finishing the Heroes of Olympus and reading some other Rick Riordan stuff.
Also, I actually really love reading/watching spoiler-free reviews about books. They help me a lot with deciding whether I want to read the book or not. I don't mind going in blind sometimes, but for the most part, I want to really make sure I'm not wasting my time with a book that I'm sure I won't enjoy, so I love seeing the spoiler-free reviews to see if the books are worth reading.
My favorite book reviews start out non spoilery but then end with spoilers and thoughts on specific things that happened in the book. That way I'll watch the first part of the review to see if I want to read the book, then come back and watch the last part after I've finished the book. Usually right when I finish a book I'm DYING to hear how other people felt about it! Especially my favorite booktubers like you 😊
My biggest bookish goal is also to make reading a priority. I super understand getting sucked into the social media rabbit hole and I do it far too often. Absolutely ready to just read more rather than waste my time mindlessly surfing the net. Good luck! I'm sure you'll do fantastically with your goals this year! :)
I never watch spoiler-free reviews because I like to go into a book knowing very little about it. HOWEVER, I really like watching spoilery reviews for some reason, especially for books like Sarah Maas's books when there are A LOT of things to talk about. :)
I love you channel! And I really do enjoy your reviews, and would love if you kept them spoiler free, it really helps me decide if I want to read the book 🙂
For reviews, you could do what Christine does and have a spoiler free portion and then tell people when the spoiler section is happening. That way we can watch it to see if we want to read the book and then again to fangirl with you during the spoiler section.
Oh I didn't know you were from Ontario! I also live about four hours from Toronto. Good luck with all of your goals! I remember the feeling of graduating after seven long years of university and getting settled in my career....it is such a whirlwind but soooo worth it in the end! It's so great not having to take tests anymore!
We have a lot of similar TBR books. I don't watch a lot of reviews if I already have the book because I like going in pretty blind and unbiased. I think it would be fun to do a readalong with one od your popular TBR books.
This year will hold what ever you want it to hold. We are the masters of our own destiny! One step at a time and look at problems as a challenge and not as a stressful issue.
I like review videos which contain more than one review, preferably if the reviews have something in common such as genre or length. I think that also makes it more of a priority to watch since I will learn of more books than just the one :)
I want to see your 2017 Bookkshelf tour. My bookish revolution is to read a hundred books to,and finish all the series, that I started and re-reading the Harry Potter
Just a little help with your World Literature / World Classics goal: 2 German classics that they make us read in high school are "Effi Briest" by Theodor Fontane and a play called "Nathan The Wise" or "Nathan der Weise" by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing. I have the feeling you might really enjoy these and they are also not that super long... easy to finish in a couple of days. Plus: If not already, you simply have to read "Metamorphosis" by Kafka!!
I LOVE spoilery book talks!! I would read the same books as you just to hear your opinions and comments on what you think and how you liked the details of the book and compare it to my feels and what I thought. My other favorite book tubers all do them and that is my favorite part of their channels. I think its especially cool for people who don't have friends who read ...they have no one to talk to about the book they just lived through. Please do at least half spoiler and half not.
If you're looking to read more diversely I 100% recommend Khaled Hossieni's "The Kite Runner" and "A Thousand Splendid Suns". I would also recommend Haruki Murakami if you're for something different to experience (his books are quite unique).
if you like to read german classics try brothers Grimm fairytales like the cold heart. or Momo or everything from Astrid Lindgren. those are about Kids and mostly child books but they are like german childhood
I adore your book reviews! It had helped me find such wonderful books!! And I also love your resolutions. P.s. You will ADORE the Coldest girl in Cold-town 💖
kudos on your diversification goals! I have the same sort of aim this year, especially with African and African-American lit. I also live in a state in the USA with a heavy Native population so I want to expand and try some Native lit, as well, especially the tribes that are local.
For me i'll watch a review if I am not sure if I should read a book or continue the series. If it is to continue like Lady Midnight , I'll probably check the reviews with some spoilers to see if what I did not like in the first book is still there, other then that I check with no spoilers.
Their Eyes Were Watching God, Things Fall Apart, Native Son, Go Tell It On The Mountain, The Bluest Eye. Those are some amazing classics by African American writers that I love.
Yes that's exactly the thing with reviews. I'm not always planning to read the book that you are reviewing or I want to go into that book blind. I think that is the main reason that people would watch them less. You really need to read Winter and Stars Above they are great. Also Vengeance Road is amazing, it was one of my favorite books from 2015!
I remember reading venom by Fiona Paul from the library i was IN LOVE with it, It had romance and suspense and it was great, I havent been able to find it anywhere to buy it, since chapters doesnt have it :( but I still want to finish the series, I hope you really enjoy it as well!
You could do spoiler free at the beginning of the video for those who haven't read the book yet, and then give a warning when you're going into spoilers for those who have read it
You should really read some Dutch classics or books they are fantastic. And can you make an other recommendation video. I love those. Xxx from the Netherlands
I highly recommend The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon to diversify your classics because it was originally written in Spanish. It is my favorite book of all time and is a book about the love of books and is akin to a Russian nesting doll in its complexity. A story within a story within a story. Also, Wolf by Wolf and Blood for Blood by Ryan Graudin were my favorite series of this past year and truly amazing reads.
My only goal is to read 45 books. I will have ALOT of school this semester, like the most I've ever had. (and also Netflix is a very big part of my life... )
Could you do the whats on my shelf tag?? where you tweet out the coordinates of you shelf and you pick out the books?? its my fav tag and hardly anyone does it lol
I want to actually get a copy of The Final Empire and read it. I still have not read it. You will love the two Gemma Doyle trilogy books on your TBR. I own, and have read, all three and absolutely loved them. I also want to read the book you just got from the December OwlCrate.
Go for the Wilkie Collins. I know, I know, more British, but he doesn't get read often anymore. Try some Haruki Murakami. Or, for ethnic diversity, Sherman Alexie is a must. Sorry if you've done these already; I haven't seen all of your backlog.
I personally love the spoiler-free reviews. It makes me more intrigued with the book and I feel like I'm more inclined to actually read it, as opposed to just reading a short synopsis.
Please make more recommended reads videos. Also I loved your Rating cover changes video and UK vs. US book covers, so please do more videos like those.
I prefer the non-spoiler ones. I detest spoilers because I feel like it breaks the tension knowing what's going to happen and I like to be 110% emotionally invested in the characters. Your reviews are my favorites because you offer insight into the things I should look for while still leaving the tension intact.
Hey, as you are interested in international literature. I would recommend "the tea lords" by Hella H. Haasse. I read this book for school and I loved it! (Dutch literature btw) Also "The Diner" by Herman Koch, there will be an English movie about this book I believe (even though there is already a dutch one) so maybe if you want to read the book before the movie. Groetjes from Holland! And keep making video's! They are very much appreciated!
A good french classic that I read for class is "The Man who laughs" by Victor Hugo. I am sure you would love it! It is a story that inspires the Joker in Batman. The main character, a young boy, has the joker smile but he didn't want it. He rescue a little girl in a snowstorm and they are shettered by a carnival man. It is pretty good and critizes the English aristocracy at the time. Or you can read a book by Jules Verne, my absolute favourite is "Michel Strogoff" By the way, I love your videos :D Bisous de Belgique!
I don't know if they are translated to English but i think that they are so i whould recommend you to read som books by Astrid Lindgren who was a swedish kid's book author and here in Sweden her books are counted as classics P.S. Sorry if i spelled something wrong as i mentioned before i am from Sweden and i am not that good at spelling P.P.S Love your channel 😘❤
I watched most of your Christmas Videos, and/or Vlogs. They were really cute. The ending where you had the Santa hat on your Cat was soooo Cute. I love books, but do not have a channel. I just wanted to say Hello, and I want your opinion when you finish The Lunar Chronicles. I'm currently on Scarlet, I'm almost finished with just a few more Chapters, and so far, I have to say I absolutely love this series. It took me a long time to read Past Chapter 1 of Cinder. When I did, I got enthralled with the characters and the world. I am not a Science Fiction lover, so that's why I was hesitant. Oh wow, I was so wrong. I'm only on Book 2 Scarlet, and about two weeks ago, I had to buy the rest of the books, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter. Last week, I bought Fairest, and Stars Above, and Red Queen. I had to have the Lunar Novellas. I am so into this story, that it is hard to put down. It is becoming one of my Favorite Series. I have 3 or 4 more Chapters in Scarlet, and I can't wait to start Cress. Could you please do a review on your thoughts of this Series, and the world? So far, Scarlet and Wolf, ahh the feels, maybe my favorite couple. Please consider doing a review for that, and a review for Red Queen? Thanks and Great Video.
If you want to read Classics from different countries I can recommend 'Winnetou' by Karl May, from Germany ;) I can imagine that it's not a thing for everyone but I really loved it and it's very known in Germany :) It's also diverse, as it is a Western story that deals with a friendship between an Apache and a German guy
we should buddy read the crown's game! i've been meaning to read it ever since it was released.
Yes I'm in!! I've heard great reviews so far!
jessethereader my two fav book tubers OMG
Hailey In Bookland can I join too?!! I really want to read that book :)
Same the crown's game is just sitting on my shelf and I'm just like I'll get to you. Then I see other books I want to read
Gena Booksenchanted amen to that. I even had a bookmark about ten pages in for a while, then other books came out.
I honestly never watch spoiler free reviews because I like to go into books not knowing anything about it other than a very brief synopsis and I get those from other videos like wrap ups, tbrs of hauls. But I love to watch spoiler sections after I've read the book!
about the review thing: i think you should do a non-spoiler area and then head into a spoiler discussion
I think you should do a spoiler free portion of your reviews, and then the rest should be with spoilers because I like how reviews are like book talks kind of like Christine does
Kendall Michaelson I like this idea as well!
Don't worry too much. You are young still. You'll figure it out.
you can do 1 video with two parts: the first one to be a no spoiler review and the second part to be a spoiler review / discussion (like jessethereader or polandbananasbooks) it would be really cool because with the "discussion " you can discuss with us your favorite or worst parts, you can "fangirl " with us which I find it really nice because when I see someone to have the same opinions with me or to love and laugh with the same parts of the book with me, I feel more "connected" in a way, with the other person....you know...but, overall I love your reviews, however, it would be nice if you did this change...
moving will be a nightmare with all those books, omg
Believe me I have thought about this 😂
Getting rid of the books you don't want will help 100% and maybe spending the extra money to get movers to lift the heavy boxes. But make sure you keep an eye on them because when I moved they left my books outside 😒

can u please pleASE PLEASE finish the Lunar Chronicles and do a review for each of them

i'd highly recommend French classics like Sartre, Camus, Zola, Maupassant... they're all incredible and so thought-provoking!
Awesome video, Hailey! Best of luck to you to get your TBR pile downsized, know I'm mega working on mine this year, and also best of luck out on your own once you graduate! Picnic at hanging rock is an amazing Australia classic, would recommend

This is so random, but I'm really happy because it is snowing in my area of the U.K. for the first time in forever!
My favorite book reviews start out non spoilery but then end with spoilers and thoughts on specific things that happened in the book. That way I'll watch the first part of the review to see if I want to read the book, then come back and watch the last part after I've finished the book. You're absolutely going to love The Boy in the Striped Pajamas! It is such a heartbreaking story from WWII and I just think you'll love it ❤️
My biggest bookish goal is also to make reading a priority.
You should do book talks, talking about how much we loved them and how each book made us feel! I'd love to see your feelings on books.
Wonderful TBR! The Young Elites and The Beginning of Everything are two books I've read and really enjoyed in 2016.
I love you channel! And I really do enjoy your reviews, and would love if you kept them spoiler free, it really helps me decide if I want to read the book 🙂
I would love to see spoiler reviews especially for the more popular books.
I think it would be really cool to do a spoiler free part of the review and do a spoiler part that has more of a booktalk feel to it.
I really love how you really care about your viewers. Your videos are fab!
For reviews, you could do what Christine does and have a spoiler free portion and then tell people when the spoiler section is happening. That way we can watch it to see if we want to read the book and then again to fangirl with you during the spoiler section.

OHHH! The Days of Blood and Starlight... I just bought that trilogy today! I'm SO excited to read it.

I like review videos which contain more than one review, preferably if the reviews have something in common such as genre or length. I think that also makes it more of a priority to watch since I will learn of more books than just the one :)
If you want to read more world classic literature, I recommend Playing Beatie Bow by Ruth Park. It's a Australian classic!
I want to see your 2017 Bookkshelf tour.
My bookish revolution is to read a hundred books to,and finish all the series, that I started and re-reading the Harry Potter
I know it's kind of an old tag, but I would love to see you do the A to Z book tag ❤

I would enjoy spoiler reviews because I like knowing your thoughts on specific parts of the book and seeing if you had some of the same thoughts as me
I'm graduating university in May (also as an English major) so I'm with you on that! I'm both terrified and excited. My nerves are all over the place.
I personally like the type of reviews you do, they're the only reviews I watch on youtube haha
I'm currently reading the beginning of everything and it's really good!!! I've read finding Audrey but wasn't that into it
Some of those are on mine (Cress, Crooked Kingdom...)
The CS Lewis books were my fav as a kid and I still get emotional reading Last battle!!
kudos on your diversification goals! I have the same sort of aim this year, especially with African and African-American lit. I also live in a state in the USA with a heavy Native population so I want to expand and try some Native lit, as well, especially the tribes that are local.
I've read Crooked Kingdom and The Boy in the Striped pajamas. Good books!

i would love to see a bookish pet peeve video i think those are so fun and relatable :)
the bronze horseman!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍 loved it
Their Eyes Were Watching God, Things Fall Apart, Native Son, Go Tell It On The Mountain, The Bluest Eye. Those are some amazing classics by African American writers that I love.

You should make a video about your experience as an english major and what the publishing process was like for the book you helped create!
You could read 'Crime and punishment' or 'War and peace' from Fiodor Dostoyevski and Leon Tolstói, two good russian novelists.
I LOVE your shelves!
it's nice to read classics from around the world! I come from Greece and Kazantzakis has written some great books. try to read Zorba the Greek.
I love your reading selection for 2017. I added some to my tbr list.
read the Martin Fierro! It's an argentinian classic
The thousandth floor is really good too
i think it would really cool if you did recommendation videos for specific time periods in historical fiction
You could do spoiler free at the beginning of the video for those who haven't read the book yet, and then give a warning when you're going into spoilers for those who have read it
Id love to see a video of your favourite classics! x
You should really read some Dutch classics or books they are fantastic. And can you make an other recommendation video. I love those. Xxx from the Netherlands
Hi Hayley, happy new year. Are you planning to do another Historical novels video?
Her bookshelf is just sooooo satisfying to look at omg😂
I highly recommend The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon to diversify your classics because it was originally written in Spanish. Can you guys recommend some Aduible YA audiobooks?
Thanks!
I want to actually get a copy of The Final Empire and read it. I still have not read it. You will love the two Gemma Doyle trilogy books on your TBR. I own, and have read, all three and absolutely loved them. I also want to read the book you just got from the December OwlCrate.
OH MY GOSH, you need to read "The Land of Stories!" It's one of my favorite books. It is just so magical!
Go for the Wilkie Collins. I know, I know, more British, but he doesn't get read often anymore. Try some Haruki Murakami. Or, for ethnic diversity, Sherman Alexie is a must. Sorry if you've done these already; I haven't seen all of your backlog.
I'm going to read "Carry on" soon, I can't wait to have your opinion about it :D
You should consider doing a spoiler section in your reviews just to share you thoughts on some of the events that happen in the book (:
You should read 'The Bluest Eye' by Toni Morrison if you're looking for an acclaimed, diverse novel. :)
I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOUR BOOKSHELF TOUR YASSSS
I personally love the spoiler-free reviews. It makes me more intrigued with the book and I feel like I'm more inclined to actually read it, as opposed to just reading a short synopsis.
The beginning of everything is a really good book. But the Crown's game is a masterpiece.
Please make more recommended reads videos. Also I loved your Rating cover changes video and UK vs. US book covers, so please do more videos like those.
Read brazilian classics!! 😍😍 (Clarice Lispector is so perfect)
Same! Gonna graduate and have no clue!!! Scared as hell
I prefer the non-spoiler ones. I detest spoilers because I feel like it breaks the tension knowing what's going to happen and I like to be 110% emotionally invested in the characters. Your reviews are my favorites because you offer insight into the things I should look for while still leaving the tension intact.
It's almost impossible not to binge watch Netflix 😏😂
Elliot Brooks yes 😂 especially bates motel and stranger things, I absolutely love those shows 💕
STRANGER THINGS aaaahhhhh
Hey, as you are interested in international literature. I would recommend "the tea lords" by Hella H. Haasse. I read this book for school and I loved it! (Dutch literature btw) Also "The Diner" by Herman Koch, there will be an English movie about this book I believe (even though there is already a dutch one) so maybe if you want to read the book before the movie.
Groetjes from Holland! And keep making video's! They are very much appreciated!
I love the structure of your reviews as they are 😌
hi! I recommend One, No One, and One Hundred Thousand by Luigi Pirandello, an Italian classic :-)
Can't wait for your bookshelf tour
I actually just finished Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda and its a super quick read and i really enjoyed it!!!
