- Found this 3.8oz beauty in the goldfields of Victoria using the GPZ 7000. It was nearly dark but I couldn't resist a few more minutes detecting. It gave off a strange signal because I believe it was standing upright. Pay close attention at the 7:45 mark, you can actually see and hear the nugget as its dropped inches from the coil!!! You can always find relics if you cant find gold, and sometimes relics are worth more then gold. Its a great hobby to get into and if you can oneway afford it, i think youll get a lot out of it. All the best and welcome to my channel. JG

All these years driving an 18 wheeler through the mountains of gold country and I never even considered buying a metal detector.
That's going to change. I have actually been looking to buy one for awhile now just to get out and get some exercise, but after watching numerous UA-cam videos on this subject it looks like I would have a blast and burn some calories, and if I find something even better!
My brother actually ran the idea by me because it seems my late Grandparents didn't place too much trust in the banks and that's about all I gonna say on that subject.
Very nice find and all I can muster to say is wow, you maintained your composure really well, I would have been running around like the Mad Hatter whistling Dixie!

I reckon you should defiantly get a detector and hit up the gold fields. Its great exercise and you may get lucky and find some decent gold. I dont blame your grandparents, i dont trust them either. Is this another one of these fake mining videos? I've seen more then a few of these where the item could have easily been planted off camera. I was hoping this one would have been a genuine one. I'm not saying it can't be, but I wish for once the item would be found right on camera. This one looked good, because the ground was obviously not disturbed before, but then the camera ends up away from the dirt he finds it in.
Either the guy is honest, or somebody here is digging for views!
I do want to say that this one seems honest, but there are just so many fake ones and people just hard up for some attention that if the find is not all on camera and in undisturbed soil, it really becomes difficult to believe.
+Timo Canto Gday Tim, I get a few comments about this vid being fake so let me explain a few things to you and anyone else reading this comment.....If this vid was fake, I would have done a far better job at making it a more watchable Vid. I can assure you, it's exactly how it happened and its unedited. The only change is when I turn the camera off momentarily to activate the flash/light because it was getting dark. At the 5:30 mark I pull up a tree root, it would be pretty hard to fake putting one of those there.
The piece of gold in this vid, it worth about $7500 if I were to buy it as a whole nugget from a collector or on eBay. I'm not going to spend that sort of time and money making a fake video just to get views, as I'm sure I could make more doing something else. I'd rather just get out and find more gold for myself. Feel free to check out my other vids, they are all 100% genuine, contain real gold and are filmed live as they happen. Regards, JG.

I understand. The reason I said that was because there are a lot of fake videos where people claim to find something during the dig but obviously planted the item.
Just to clear up what I was saying could have POSSIBLY occurred, was that you would have put the nugget in the dirt on the side, right after you adjusted the camera. I do understand there was no way that it would have been in the ground.
Gold is also a worthy investment, so even though it would be expensive to buy it off of a site, it is still most likely a good long-term investment,
In saying all that, I had already mentioned that I don't believe this was a fake one, but that it it could have been faked.
It can be difficult to tell sometimes if I video is fake or not, but I've decided to make a final judgement on this one:

At 4:48 I had to take a break to heighten the excitement. Man, I've never ever heard a detector so excited in all of my life watching these videos. I'm expecting you to hit some solid wood crate (treasure chest full of gold Dubloons) !! :) I must wait about 5 hours to continue. At least now I know what detector to get for finding gold (if that is indeed what you have found which I have no doubt, a wheatback penny or a buffalo nickel will not make a detector so excited like my heart felt each pass, my soul dropped into that hole you were digging.

Get one of those 3" wide trenching shovels, long handled with a sharp 45 degree front edge, and a kink and angle designed for digging a narrow trench to bury wires up to about 24" deep. The disadvantage is carrying around a long-handled tool - Though the front end is narrow the total tool is long. They are great because they get a lot of leverage. You can get a full lift of dirt in even the worst soil, if your boots have hard soles to bear down on the shovel. Or you can turn it over and it has an angle usable as a light pick. If you have strong legs and boots get the 4" wide one, or even the 5" or 6" wide version; though to me the 3" wide one works best.
