    This video is completely dedicated to a review of these Vevor extractors. I pulled the honey from my backyard bees and harvested 25 gallons of honey with them. It would have been a nice pull for a hobbyist beekeeper, which is the in my opinion the target audience for these products.
    Stay tuned for a video of our large annual honey harvest. Will upload soon.
    I appreciate comments, but please keep them respectful. Thanks!

    This is one piece of equipment that I still need to purchase. I started with two nucs this year and ended up splitting one. Now two of the three are strong enough and starting to fill my first honey supers so it's looking like I may be able to pull a little if the flow continues here in s.w. PA. As always, thanks for the video. Vevor seems to be the best value for someone like myself. I think I would go with the electric model as well. Staying low budget went out the window as soon as I started purchasing equipment.

    Bruce, I bought the 4/8 extractor and use it at slower speeds and it works well w/o shaking. Start at 35 increase to 45 until the sling is nearly done, flip and slowly increase to 65-70, flip and in 2 min you are done. When you put frames in the radial slots, it shakes like mad. I do three med supers at a time, electric is the way to go and this is a dope extractor for the price.

    I bought the electric extractor about 4 years ago to supplement my old extractor. The first time i used it, two of the leg brackets that are spot welded to the tank broke . I have the Vevor 3 frame extractor.
    There are razor sharp edges along the leg lines. I covered them with electrical tape.
    Keep an eye on the ball bearing in the hole beneath the spindle, it's easy to lose. I went to a local bicycle shop and bought a few spares.

    Thanks Bruce as always. I bought that electric 5-6 weeks ago. I think it was $270 and on my porch in 3-4 days. Took roughly an hour to clean (took out lube grease on ball bearing, replaced with vegetable oil), assemble, and fasten to porch joists (16” centers, 3” drywall screws, between deck boards). Was only doing 12-15 deeps as honey is not my focus (queens and nucs). Just pulling a some for friends and family this round. Uncapped, extracted, and hosed everything down by myself in 2 hours. If I was pulling a few 1000lbs, I’d go bigger, but easily worth the money for small time. Thanks again for all you share! 🐝😃

We also bolted it to 4x4s and stood on them. Then he let me crank it 300 turns each side. They were dry when I got done…..lol. Great little machine we also used Pamper Chef spatula to clean the bony off the walls worked great! Hope to get an electric one 2024 as I am building 10 more hives and can’t wait to get my new bees! If you decide to get a motorized one and you plan to do this for awhile I would look into a more sturdy model like a Hillco, Maxant, Lyson or Dadant type machine. You will not be disappointed. Mounted it to 3/4 plywood square with thumb nuts for easy storage an I have 2 solid half cement blocks I lay on the plywood. When done spinning I kick the blocks off an tip the unit to drain. But other than the Spicket? I have no problem an should this one die I will buy another one.. Mine was totally unusable until i reversed the connection that drives the basket. Tops are totally unusable. One side of the the crossbar sits higher than the other side. Sounds smart. It is never a bad idea to spend a little extra money for a quality product.

    What's the difference in the black & brown frames? They are both loaded in the same?

    • @brucesbees
      @brucesbees  10 місяців тому +1

      The black ones are one piece plastic frames. The others are wooden frames mostly with plastic foundation.

    I have that vevor electric. Its cheap and functional. Ill see how long it last. I screw mine down to a pallet. BTW, you are spinning the wrong direction for the tangential frames. You should spin toward the bottom of the frame. That works better with the slope of the cells.

    • @brucesbees
      @brucesbees  Рік тому +1

      Seemed to work fine.

    • @brucesbees
      @brucesbees  Рік тому +1

      But spinning the other direction theoretically could have worked better with the manual I guess.

    • @rtxhoneybees
      @rtxhoneybees Рік тому

      @@brucesbees It was hard to tell but it appeared you spun the direction of the top bar. In the tangential position, it pushes the honey into the cells a bit. Thats easy to solve with the manual because it spins either direction. Takes a little more thought on the electric. On the electric you can put 8 frames in there radially - one on either side of the space you put them in. One of them will fall into the tangential position if you do not tie them together. I had pretty good results rubberbanding them together after getting that tip from Joey Rawls. You need pretty stiff and thick rubber bands though. When I am by myself I just do four at a time in the slot. It keeps up with my slow uncapping.

      @rtxhoneybees thanks for the tip. Though I will say these frames were very dry after spinning.

      Yes. I think if you have more than just a few colonies it becomes necessary to upgrade. HillCo is a good brand.

      Fair enough. I also run a Maxant. 20 framer. These Vevor extractors were sent to me for the purpose of a review. I tried it be honest and fair. But in my operation I am way past these small extractors for the bull of my extraction.

    Chinesium junk. A friend bought a Vevor extractor. Some welds broke and it self-destructed.

      Yep they are definitely not a top of the line product. We use Maxant and Lyson extractors for our typical harvests. They are rugged and have lasted for years. The Vevor is an extractor for the hobbyist for sure. If I’m it for the long haul or plan to increase hive count will certainly want to upgrade I’m sure. But not a bad little piece of equipment for a beginner or smaller outfit.

      @@brucesbees TY brother, I picked up a used manual unit for 175$ Canadian. One issue I see with it is the height of the lower port. There is approx a 1" lip from base to valve...not cool,, not well planned out...

    UPDATES to my previous post.
    Junk. Bought the small 3 frame unit.
    When using, it feels like it is going to fall apart.
    Incredibly light frame and useless legs.
    The outlet is 1" above the floor of the tank. Stupid design beyond comprehension.
    For those of you who are wondering WhyTF did I buy it?
    Good Question. My main extractor needs a new motor and pully.
    Bought this POS for 175$ used.
    DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY
    Junk

      Not designed for heavy use. But the motorized one does ok for a small time operation. It is wise though IMO to spend more and get a better quality one if you plan on being a beekeeper for years to come.
