Note 2: I made this video of one half of gameplay just to show it was working for people to try. Had no idea that so many people wanted more gameplay. So, I made a full game video on the channel as well.
HUGE shoutout to Darth Marino showing that NBA Showtime 2.0 worked on .209. Had me curious on Sportstation and it's progress. Need I say more? Here's a half of NBA Showtime on it full speed. Minor slow down on splash screens and when making a basket "On Fire" but the original board had similar slowdowns. Enjoy. - Ігри

Good luck emulating the zeus hardware lol, only two games which are cruisn and the grid. I guess not enough people interested in putting in the work to fix the issues

I hope they add this to the working section and improve the speed and sound emulation. There's still some hiccups even on a GTX 1050, but plays absolutely fine.
Two things, one is if you rather not with the little slowdowns, in-game mame config menu has the med-res and low-res dipswitch. But there was always a bit of a slowdown when on fire in the arcade version. Idk if the type of slowdown is happening due to MAME itself, but yea
would love to set this up... do you have any how to on how to set this game up on a PC?

Hey how u doing this is aaron wanted to thank u for all your help in setting up showtime it actually works pretty good what I wanted to know though is where do you find the bios on showtime to turn attract mode sound on?
So press tab & shift simultaneously and at input settings "this machine" there should show an "Enter BIOS" key. I've been so busy I can't remember of it's f2 or 3 right now. But that initial info should get you right
@@j.d.prophecy43 cool I got it set but I want to ask u something when you first played showtime on the i7 laptop did you have to keep it plugged in in order for it to play at 97% with the turbo boost?

Violent J.D. yep I figured that I tried to play it without charging it to see if the speed would still be intact but it slowed down big time so I gotta leave it plugged in to be around 100% even though it stills lags most times cuz it’s only at 4.1 ghz
DUDE YES!!! I freakin love this game I could play hours on end on Dreamcast. But i know for sure arcade version was different than dreamcast in little ways. I can't believe they finally got this working I waited years for this day to happen! What specs are you running this on? I hear you need a pretty beefy setup and even then slowdowns can occur, i.e on fire or particles etc..
Yea this is my All time favorite game. So much that i only put in 10 minutes in MK11 because of Showtime. I've been playing the NullDC/ Demul version and while good, still doesnt have the same particles, vibe, crowds etc.
Yeah tho it takes a lot of horse to get this running right. Two 1080s and a i7-6700k processor. On this machine there is a low-res and med- res switch just in case your rig isn't running this the best that helps. Also putting priority to real time helps. After this video i found the perfect settings on best resolution even stopping slowdowns/ cutting the slowdown time in half and for me it wasnt bad to begin with.. So I've been playing this non-stop for days ever since darth marino showed it working
*im sure one good graphic card would work. I was going to test it out with one, but once it was smooth i was 10 year old me and kept playing, fuck it. Lol... I'll do test later
@@j.d.prophecy43 What's the perfect settings? I cant seem to find the low res, med res option when I press f2 for diagnostics. Also, don't forget RIGHT + ABA FOR THAT ABA BALL!!!

At initials screen, put the team's 3 initials, and then the number of the player jersey. Ex: HOU 0004 would be for Barkley.
The on fire effects are so much better than dreamcast. I hope this gets optimized better so I can play it.
That, the arena music, and overall sound effects. Dreamcast had a higher pitch due to being at a faster frame rate overall. So this def is the undisputed version. Plus 2.0 if you want to play it had a bit different rosters.

@@jrod1986 Arcade had Rodman (Dallas) Ron Artest, Pack on the Grizzles among others. 2.0 had Penny Hardaway on the Magic and a few other changes.

Two questions, I just bought a GTX 1050TI and installed it and I have decent gameplay when in lores, how did you get the sound to A: work without all of the hiccups and b: not slow the game down. Seems that this is what is making this emulation awful
Also, can you share the link/CHD for 3.0, I have 2.0 and it plays terribly
Basically the sound I had to change graphic options to OpenGL, helped with overall peformance. Ill be putting a new video soon for performance troubleshooting

Man watching you play this game is so entertaining. How do you get away with blocking and avoiding goaltending calls??? I try to foul all the time but you're automatic with it!
being on-fire lets you goaltend, pushing is all about getting into defensive stance first, then hit em. It's the same for all Midway games.
@@j.d.prophecy43 dope! will have to get on fire first hahah. This rom is red and says not working in the latest MAME 0.221 but I think it's just audio issues. Have you compared this 0.209 to 0.0221? Is there any difference? Should I revert back to this version? Also any secret code for mj or any other players like magic or the classics?

What options are you running to get it to play so smooth?
So I have two 1080s SLI 6700k to 4.2 ghz, 16GBs of RAM. I don't remember if I was playing this in SLI but I just tested it out 20 minutes ago since you said you got one card. It runs relatively the same. Two places for settings, in Nvidia settings put everything for performance. That's one thing. Sometimes setting priority to realtime is good. Inside MAME config menu ultimately for you because idk how 1070s are for this, there is a ticker for Med-resolution and low resolution. Tick those settings on and see if everything changes.
Also rendering mode, put it to OpenGL
F'd Up J.D. can you tell me where to find this version? You are running 3.0, all I’ve been able to find is 2.1. Please help, you’re my best chance at making this work in a MAME cab I am building. Thanks in advance

Have this running perfectly on my mame cab with a ati 7970 black edition with an i5 6800k with 16gb of ram with a arcade k7400 crt running groovymame mame and omg lol. Some notable differences from dreamcast include smoother frame rate and better sound effects/fire effects and better animated models. The scale of the character are slighter larger and the crowd is significantly better more people and better animated. Arcade is definitely the definitive version. The added rosters help as well.
Yeah i just put out a new vid of me playing it with a 2080ti i9 9900k. It's arcade speed now. Hype all over again.
@@j.d.prophecy43 Are you using any video modes like scanlines or hlsl? I'm not using anywhere near the power you are using and I'm running full speed. However, I'm not running any video enhancements as I do not have to because I'm running on an arcade monitor!

Yooooo J.D. you're out here living my dream! This was my favorite game growing up!! And Blitz!!!! I tried running this on a MacBook Pro with mame64 intel i7 4750HQ 3.2ghz, 8GB Ram and it's barely even moving man hahaha. I know nothing about pc's. Can you steer me in the right direction? Is it possible to build a super bare bones pc without spending too much money just to play Blitz and NBA Showtime? Even if you can give me minimum specs that would be awesome, any help is much appreciated!!
ay b whats good. so with most 3d mame games, you are going to want a graphics card. so there's that. also, try lowering the res in-game. when you start the game, bring up mame menu, and put resolution to low. and tinker with the properties tab outside of mame and see if directx or opengl will work for better performance. i7 is good, 4570 is ok at best for this. Showtime in arcades was demanding. i def remember that. think of it this way. i had 1080 and a i7 6700k in a laptop, still had slowdowns. not until i bought a corsair one 2080 ti i9 9900k did it run perfectly lol. so there's only so much you can do. if you can, the dreamcast version is still solid, lower fidelity in sound and crowd density. But resolution upscales to maximum supported. So there's that until you wanna upgrad. And the DC emulators run on anything
@@j.d.prophecy43 Word ok. I def want the full arcade version for sure but can't afford your setup hahaha. I did all the settings you recommend but it's struggling so hard you can't even play. My i7 ain't gonna cut it. Apparently it's rated at 2.0GHz and maxes out at 3.2GHz but it's so so slow with these games. I'm thinking about buying a used MSI Laptop or Alienware Alpha console. I found a used MSI laptop with i7 7th gen 7700HQ 2.8GHz, GTX1060 and 16GB RAM and an Alienware Alpha with i7 4790K 4.0GHz, GeForce GTX w/ 2GB, 16GB RAM. Do you think these will run the game close at least? Either one better than the other? I also see some fast i3's and i5's so if there's a processor speed you can recommend not to go under and minimum graphics card to stay above too that would be dope.
@@ud4034 i mean, shit as a imperfect perfectionist with the shits i can tell you it'll be playable with the 1060 but they'll be little hiccups. Bc the 1080 laptop i7 6700k had minor hiccups. But it was playable af. So you should be fine

I'm checking benchmark tests on all the used pc's I'm checking out now against the specs of your old setup, trying to find something close for around $400-$500. Appreciate any advice you can give me!
@@ud4034 so i wouldnt go msi because i got burned with my first gaming laptop that was a 970m. Mobo died in 2 years which for then was a decent run i guess. Asus I would go with honestly. mame is all about cores and benefit slightly from a graphics card. Also Mame is a gateway drug. You go from that, to wanting DC, to wanting Gamecube, PS2, etc. So i7 for emulation, i5 for general gaming. Im on PC for old school/ new school gaming clearly. So for me to stop draggin the fuckin answer.... i7. 1060 will do it. If you ever send a link to which specific laptops hmu, ill see something. Then I could help you with speed hacks because I tried them all

I don't think so. 3D games are hit or miss with Retropie so ive heard

Whatever you do, just play it on MAME64. MAME32 is why people still cant play it. I played this without a graphics card on an old OS.

Im on a laptop. Gtx 1080. I7 6700k also tried it in SLI. Will be getting a RTX 2080TI this winter with a i9-9900k to see if all stuttering will stop.

SLI 1080s i7-6700k processor, just tested one card though works right in SLI and without the 2nd card.

I never intended to show a full game. Didn't know there was a demand for it. I just wanted to show that it was working so people could get on it. But so many people been asking might do one soon. It's just i got two promotions at two different jobs so it's been hard to find the time.
