I’m just chilling on my bed with my beardie, she’s past out asleep right now. This is a fitting time for this video.
Nice!
Nice dude I’m getting one soon
Can we take a moment and appreciate the incredible attention to detail by this man?! Not only does he include text in the video but he also includes an image of the EXACT product. The explanations are amazing! This man is out here doing the Lord's work!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Every time people are newcomers like I was on the bearded dragon groups on fb - I suggest that they come watch all your videos :)
Thank you! I appreciate the recommendations!
tysm! i am upgrading to a 120 gallon and this helped a lot!
my bearded dragon is in a 40 gallon right now because he is small but this video will help when he gets big. Thanks
That’s exactly why I made it! The jump from 40 to 120 is sometimes a lot for people so I thought it would help
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse I appreciate it
Gonna be making a tank setup just like that this coming expo on the 20th. I got the same tank you got but the maple color. Cant wait to give more things for my beardy to explore. I hope he digs❤ love the setup! I think its best for people to give tank setup guides on the tabk size they recommend. That way theres no confusion for some down the line. Thank you🎉
Thank you! Yes many more 4x2x2 setups coming for uromastyx, chameleon, ball python as well. Cant wait!
I also got the maple color nice
Thank you so much i’m thinking about buying a bigger cage for my bearded dragon and all of your videos has helped me so much for 2 1/2 years of having my bearded dragon so thank you for everything! 😁
I’m glad I can help!
I really appreciate the way you explain things.
Cant wait for that substrate tutorial keep up the good work you are one of my favorites reptile content creators
Thank you so much!
W video!! my favorite part was you showing the saw to cut branches 🤣🤣
Hahaha thank you
Thanks for the quick setup guide, sock king.
Happy to help!
I found this beautiful piece of driftwood from our local dam and I'd definitely need to go back for more..
Ooo nice!
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse I am glad you reply to your comments because I've been watching you and a few others to know what I'll need for my future beardie..going through everything I can
Yo thanks for all the ideas and advice.
Happy to help
Just got the same tank 2weeks ago cause of you 👍👌 prefect my Razzle loves it 🐉
Nice!
Ayeeeeee new video. Keep them coming brother.
Will do!
new chiefsweetsuniverse video dropped!!!!!!
You know it!
Thanks very informative👍👍 I am currently in the process of building a custom enclosure so this was a huge help👏🏻
Happy to help!
So I got my beardie 7 years ago. When COVID started I was forced to move from my aunts to my moms rv. We didn’t have room for him so he stayed at my aunts. I just got him back and o was informed they never took him out, soaked him, fed him fresh food. They kept him in his cage always and only fed him dried bugs/ veggies. He has stuck shed on his head and doesn’t like being held. I’m trying to bond with him again since I know he is an animal made for affection and interaction. He’s just been stressed.. any suggestions?
Instead of two bulbs, I use a halogen bulb, which is powerful. A 50-watt can cook my beardie if Im not carfeul. Also, mine is mounted inside the enclosure with a cover, so it's closer, and I have it on a thermostat that controls the output and keeps the temps in check.
Very true halogens are almost too extreme so I stay away from them for inside enclosures but outside on two foot enclosures they work really well
Just got a baby dragon currently have 20 gallon tank, I would like to have real plants in my enclosure but how do you go about enclosure cleanings? With the plants etc… if you don’t already a video on the subject that would be great if could/would make one, thank you
just got this tank gonna be a first time beardie owner i cant wait
Congratulations 🍾
Thank you for your video. It is amazing!
I'm super new to my Beardie. She is 7 yrs old and I bought her a 150gallon tank. 5x2x2.
Would I be ok using this 4x2x2 setup?
Also, once the substrate is set, how often does it get switched out and how does it keep the moisture?
Sorry, like I said, I'm a newbie...
Thank you for your video again!
It is amazing!!!!!
This is an excellent video! My beardie is now almost 3 years and 18 inches and looks cramped in his 40 gallon (36x18x18) tank. I do let him out a lot though, so he's used to hanging on the couch with us. But it's time for a major upgrade. I just have two questions. 1) Substrate: When it comes to the substrate I hear that they can ingest it and get impacted, and that a solid mat of some kind would be better. He's only ever had a solid bottom of the tank. Also, Is cleaning out poop easier with substrate (like kitty litter)? 2) Heating: I love and will use all your advice on heating from above. My 40 gallon tank has a corner with 2 flat heating pads that I stuck to the outside of the tank. One on the side and one underneath the glass tank in the same corner, and it's his favorite place to sleep at night. Is there any recommendation for finding a warm heating place he can be at night when the lights are off? I worry he might get to cold at night with the lights off. Thanks
Where did you find that awesome background?
Sweet, I have the same tank
Nice! Its a great tank
Love ur videos bro
Thank you very much
Would it be bad if we chose not to add any substrate and just do a "dig box"? Is there an alternative? I appreciate your honesty.
Yeah you can do that lots of people do that
@@ChiefSweetsUniverseThank you so much. I'm gonna follow your lead. I am going to use that mixture you put on the screen (your "special mix").
In your opinion, what is the BEST enclosure for a 40 gallon enclosure for a baby bearded dragon? And extra question, does the color of the enclosure really matter? And if so, is black better than white?
Thanks!
By the way, I get really confused with the lighting and heating stuff so, which videos do you recommend so that I could understand it better?
Thanks again!
Do you have any product recommendations to reduce humidity? I recently got a beardie and live in western New York so it gets humid in the warm months. The last week or so I haven’t been able to get the humidity to 40. It seems to float around 50% no matter what I do
That’s perfect humidity honestly. I live southern United States and it’s very humid around spring and early summer. My house is constant 50-70% humidity. My dragons are happy and healthy
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse brother that is such a relief to hear. I’ve been worried cuz I don’t want to cause harm or respiratory infections ya know?
I’m definitely going to try this setup
If you join the discord send pictures!
Oh yeah I’m already in there I’m the one named wild house
But ok
When using tge Australia dirt do u mix it in with top soil cuz my bearded dragon is eating the small rocks I'm thinking about just going with ur mix instead thx for tge video tge 120 gallon vids help us tremendously
I usually put it in the top however if he’s eating it he may have a vitamin deficiency so definitely do multivitamin once every two weeks
Do you put isopods in there for the “clean up crew”? Also thanks for making these videos it’s helped me so much 🫶🏽
Great video! I was wondering if you had a western hognose snake if you could do care video?
my leopard gecko has been on a reptile carpet for a while and im upgrading her tank, Ive been watching your videos trying to figure out if I should use tile or substrate and I like the idea of substrate but im not sure whats healthier, im just afraid my leopard gecko will choke or inhale the substrate
Tile over tile is hard on their joints. They dig quite a bit and like to dig. Substrate is my choice just for that reason.
thank you, ill try to get substrate then
I've ordered everything you suggested in the past 2nl weeks. The only thing missing is my dragon but it's so scary trying to find a reputable breeder so we don't get scammed 😭
So I’ve been hearing that bearded dragons give salmonella. Is it true? And if so can I at least touch him or pick him up without washing my hands? And is there a way to stop him for giving it? Thanks you!
Would you mind making a video based on how to either use a heat pad or a lamp for heating and which is better in substrate for a leopard gecko
I do have one close to that it’s called leopard gecko lighting guide I believe I talk about heat mats in it
Hello, what UVB light do you recommend for a 55-gallon tank? Thank you for these amazing videos.
If it’s 18 inches tall zoom med 10.0 t5 24 inch or Arcadia 12% t5 24 inch
How much of each bag did you mix to make the substrate?
Do you sanitize your substrate before putting it in the terrarium? Such as the top soil and peat moss?
I do not but you can
Great video! Where'd you get that hexagon patterned background?
Thank you! Blue ark reptile!
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse Thanks! Do you happen to know (or have a guess) as to what they are made of? Wood? Plastic?
@@Exempt7 they are wood
How often do you change out the substrate? So I don’t know where you live, but do you do any heating at night??
I don’t do any heating at night. My nights get around 68f and during the winter maybe low 60fs. I change out the substrate every 6 months
question… for the 10lb bags of australian sand how many would fill a 4x2x2? for a beardie
About 4-5 bags
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse DO I NEED TO GET SOMETHING ELSE IF I PUT THE AUSTRALIAN SAND OR JUST 4-5 BAGS OF THEM?
I already have the repti zoo light 😏 can I just change the bulb out with the zoomed bulb?
The reflector on the reptizoo is bad as well. But for now yeah you can use the reptizoo fixture until you can upgrade the fixture as well
What if the basking spot gets too warm (110-115) with two 100watt basking bulbs?
Lower both to 75 watts
Just got my first bearded dragon. Question about the lighting, do I need just a UV-B light because I get enough light from the sun during the day for lighting ?
Hey there! So I can use 2 100watt basking bulbs in the double fixture dome like you have shown, right? Thanks!
how do you feel about tile as a floor? and then maybe a part in a section with reptisand?
I’ve seen people do it. It works
In one of your other videos you mentioned you could use regular I think halogen bulbs instead of bulbs? Is that still true? If so, what would you recommend? I already have the Arcadia UVB bulb, but I need to pick up two heat lamps for the basking spot.
Should the UVB lamp be placed only on the hot side of the enclosure? Also for a 4x2x2 how high does the basking spot need to be for them to get adequate uvb or does that not matter?
Good video man, Is there by any chance a Bar Light that Offers a 2 in 1 ? Both Heat & UVB
As of right now there isn’t in a bar but as a lightbulb the zoo med mercury vapor does it but I only suggest using it with a uvb meter
I heard basking spots have to be flat for good digestion, is this true? Our baby bearded dragon loves basking on his hammock at an angle. Also we just got him two days ago and he’s eating 2-3 baby crickets a day that’s all… is this normal? How much should he be eating and is there any other food you would suggest? We offer leafy greens too but he hasn’t touched those yet
Beside pet smart where can I buy Arcadia kit from because petsmart don’t carry anymore?
Reptile basics and Pangea reptile com
Do you need a hide on the cool side?
Yeah you can put one on the cool side
If you get brick and Flagstone from Home Depot, should you soak it like the branches outside or can you just put it in the tank?
Always wash everything off 😊
have you ever tried using these uvb testing cards from amazon? If so/not do you know if they are somewhat accurate? We have an arcadia T5 14% on our 120 gallon from Dubia, it is placed on top of the screen. We plan on getting a solar meter in the future, but kind of out of our budget atm... Second question, his basking temp is 108 so I think we're good there, but being unsure of his UVB exact number using that card, is there a downside to using calcium or vitamins With D3 vs Without D3? Currently we use without D3 the card says the UVB is adequate.
So I have tested the cards they don’t detect uvb they just detect uva. Which is unfortunate I have an old video testing those out. Doenst really matter too much with the d3. I use without d3 since I have good uvb so you can as well but if you have some with d3 that’s still ok as well. Also 108f sounds amazing great job!
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse From your videos and past responses, 14% arcadia on top of the screen should be ok correct? I think you said 12% should be inside the screen with zipties, but 14% on top of the screen should be ok? I know you can't definitively give an answer, but in your general opinion, his basking spot is about 8" from the screen.
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse is there a more budget friendly UVB meter that is accurate, or should we just splurge for the solar meter? We have a red ear slider turtle and the beardie, don't plan on more reptiles, so not trying to break the bank, but also want our beardie to be healthy.
@@chapppy3782 I wish there was unfortunately the solar meter is a monopoly and that’s the only trustworthy one. You can find it on sale on petsmart sometimes. It’ll be $175
What do you use to regulate your basking temperature? I know some people use light dimmers and others use a dimming thermostat.
I have an enclosure that has a bar in the middle at the top. What would you recommend I do for the top to cover the enclosure?
Hey there! New follower- where did you sit your uvb light at ??
Hey bro i jst recieved my dragon yesterday bought it of someone, wanted to ask u some questions, ? Saw ur video covince me to buy one, shes a female is 8 months old, was told feed her 10 roches morning n 10 at night, also came with 4x2x2 enclosure zoomed uvb light n 150 watt zoomed heat lamp, has 2nd bulb that is purple was told turn of the heat lamp turn purple one at night... is this correct ? I live where it pretty cold wana make sure keep her safe, thanks for the rest of the info
@chiefsweetuniverse Hey, just want to clear up your lighting with the UVB, does the ReptiSun hood come with a bulb or do I need to buy it separate? Also, does the Arcadia T5 22” fit in the ReptiSun hood?
I have a question can I still give my leopard gecko super worms even though they’re in beetle form?
Yes they don’t really care for them though
Alr thanks
How often do you clean out the substrate or do you just do spot pick ups as the tank gets dirty.
Spot clean but sometimes about every 6 months I’ll replace it all
I used the zoo med blubs and the light you have but they burnt out in a week. The double blub lamp just burnts out the blubs so fast idk why. They are 100w. Ever have that issue?
If you have that issue check and see if the fixture is rated for more than 100 watts. If it says 660watts usually that only is good for 60 watts. If it’s 100 watts get a 150 watt rated lamp and it’ll stop that. Usually it’s a problem with the lamp itself
Mr cheifsweets i have a question whats the best HEAT DOME for a bearded dragon
I don’t really have a preference I use this one mainly amzn.to/44YcaQh
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse thanks, love ur videos ❤️
I set mine up about 2 weeks ago and my guy hasn’t been able to go in it yet 😢. I used a top soil/sand mixture and bricks, rocks and driftwood. I CANNOT figure out how to get my humidity down…all day it is around the 80-85 % mark. But also don’t have a lot of heat on it because I still need to for my old tank thst he is in
Is it an open top screen tank? If so I wouldn’t worry about humidity too much as the heat lamps will dry it out and dragons do experience a rainy season where humidity is high. Breeders in Florida breed dragons outside as well in the high humidity of Florida
Ok cool thanks! I does have a screen. It is the 4x2x2 dubia roach one. People just keep telling me more ventilation but I can just keep the doors open all the time lol.
Hi, I was wondering if you know any cites online that ships baby bearded dragons in the U.S because I dont want to purchase one from a pet store. Do I get then from a breeder? or if you know any online exotic reptile shops please let me know!!
What causes glass surfacing?
Do you have a list of the plants you used in this video? And possibly a list of others you have used? Thanks
Making a video on that should be out this week
Nice thanks 🤙
Hey, how is the UVB exposure when placing the T5’s over the screen/metal mesh?
For the eco flex it isn’t too bad it’s only like a 35% block which is better than most tanks
how many pounds of aust desert dragon habitat would it take for a good sub in a 120 gallon?
30-40lbs should do it
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse thank you
what enclosure is that and if its built can you comment the materials?
Can you do 90 gallon tank, for colder area's pleas
I don’t have one but when I get one definitely will
is snake plant safe for bearded dragon?
Yes
@chiefsweetuniverse I need your help dog I put 6 bags of reptisoil of the 10 pound bags and half of a bag of excavator clay and then 1/4 of reptisand in it aswell but I need to know if my bearded dragon does eat it on accident that he will be okay 😭🙏
Oh yeah he’ll be fine.
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse okay thank you bc I was feeding him a banana today but it fell out of my hand onto the ground and I just didn’t know if it was 100% safe for him to eat it after I dropped it so I threw it away and what do you do about your beardeds food? I think in one of your vids you hand feed them but what do you feed them on a weekly basis?
Hello! I'm wondering what do you do if the bearded dragon poops in there? do you scopp out the soil it was on, or do you have to replace the whole thing?
Hello! I do the first one. I scoop out just the poop and the soil around. I usually get a doggy bag and grab it all in one grab.
Could I just use retisoil and reptisand and mix them together
Yes that works as well!
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse for the led daylight light does it matter what side of the enclosure you put it on or do you have a preference on what side to put it on
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse and could you do a update video for a crested gecko my friend gave me hers cause she had to move and the gecko isn’t doing well and I’m trying to figure out what is wrong with it
I have a 40 gallon tank. What size of uvb should I get?
Depends on the screen. If it’s thrive I would go 14%. If it’s exo terra or zoo med I’d go 12%
Hey i just bought my first ever reptile which is a bearded dragon ive never own a reptile so dont know much about feeding his a juvenile i believe about 5-6 inches long im a beginner i have a few questions is there an email i can contact you for information? I dont wanna type everything on here.
I have a long question to ask you. Should I ask you here or do you have contact info I can send it to? Thank you!
How many bags of the Australian desert would you recommend for the 4x2x2? Each bag on Amazon says 10 pounds. Currently awaiting the arrival of my eco flex so I want to get all I need. Also I have the Zoo Med Desert UVB & Heat Lighting Kit with one 100watt bulb. I don’t use the uvb bulb because I do have the Arcadia t5 12%. Should I get another 100w bulb for that kit and have 2 100w? Or is that too much?
how many did you end up using?
if i have the bearded dragons home in my room, do i have to keep all the lights on as i sleep? or can i turn it off until i wake up? just wondering
You can turn all lights off at night
Can you do one for a blue tongue skink?
Yes hope to get those out one day
but wont it take your bill a lot higher
No unless you have like 6 enclosures
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse i've just got my bearded dragon. and i use two uvb and one heat lamp and then one heat lamp for my leopard gecko. won't it cost a lot or make my Electricity Bill go a lot higher up? bc if it does my parents will sell my reptiles.

I need all these 3 types of light for its enclosure? Also how long do we keep each one on? Do we turn thwm off at night? Have seen alot of your videos and enjoy all the information you give.
