Wow, when I asked about these, I thought we might see them in a couple months or so; not this soon! They look absolutely delicious, and I can't wait to see how they fare here in The Philippines. Thank you SO MUCH Mr. Cooper and I hope you have a wonderful week!!🎂🍞🥞
Hi Marty With Celeste. I had intended to do another recipe but decided it against it at the last minute. So I decided to make the rock cakes instead, since they are very easy. I hope you enjoy them when you make some.
Hi Geoff…….ah this takes me back to my childhood too 🥰 baking these with my mum (I’m 51 now) when I was little……I’ll definitely make these ones, the mixed spice and nutmeg sound lovely..…..I remember when mum made them, she’d let them sit about 5 minutes from the oven, gently slice them in half and slather them with lots of butter! It wasn’t margarine, mum and dad called it BEST butter and because the rock cake was still quite warm, all the butter would melt and soak in - delicious - thank you Geoff, not just for another great tutorial, you’ve genuinely just brought back to me some wonderful childhood memories…..hope you’re well…..lots of love Jan xx❤xx
HI Jan. Oh yes, lot's of memories can flood back when encountering things such as these. I really enjoyed them and will be making more at the weekend. Oh to be 51 again.
Hi GEOFF... you take me back to grannies kitchen I'm very young @helping her......we are making afternoon tea cakes and rock cakes were always one of my favorites as she would let me do the whole thing... So a nostalgic trip back to probably around 1960...... Lovely ❤️windy windy here today no rain just WIND... hope you are not getting blown away... take care GEOFF 💋
Hello, Mr Cooper. I watched this video twice while working, only now I could come and say hello. Indeed it is a very simple recipe, but I like how the cakes look and how they seem full of flavour and crunchiness. Thank you as always.
A staple from my childhood & one of the first things I learnt to bake. Don't see them around much nowadays, although I do know one cafe that has them. Thanks for the memories
Hi Tamina. Thanks. I am glad you like the recipes. I do try to respond to the comments, since it is very gracious of my viewers to take time to write them.

@@sarahholdcroft5053 Oh that's great. Thanks for letting me know. I only have another 762 videos at the moment. Please watch them all, from start to finish, LOL.
I love Rock Cakes, a childhood favourite to eat and cook! Thank you Geoff 👏 Heads up, the printed recipe on your blog says 2 tbsp baking powder. You say ‘2 teaspoons’ baking powder in your video. Pretty sure it’s teaspoons. Tablespoons would make them inedible.
Hi Sarah. Thanks for the heads up. I actually corrected the error on the blog recipe on Saturday, so it shows 2 tsp for me now. So if you refresh the page it should update.
I did right a message but it hasn't come through so here goes, again....... Hii Geoff... You took me right back in time to my grannies kitchen probably 1960.. we're we would bake together and one of the many things would be rock cakes... She would let me make the whole thing... I love them still thanks for your recipe.. ❤️It's so windy here today how's your weather?
Hi Henrietta. I did see your other message, it was a reply to one from Victoria. But I was gallivanting around town when it arrived so I didn't reply since I don't have digital dexterity. I am glad this brought back some memories of baking with granny. It has been raining all day, but seems to have eased off now and the temperature has risen to a balmy 16C.
Hello Geoff the rock cakes are a real favourite l make them sometimes and l use a ice cream scoop ( a round one that has the bar in) to measure and dispense them out on my tray it keeps them equal sizes although you have rather round rock cakes😅 they still taste lovely though 😊❤all the best and thank you
Hi PixieB. These will certainly become a regular for me since everyone enjoyed them so much. Scooping them, as you mention you do, certainly would also make the process a little quicker too.
9could I make these without the fruit? If so, would I have to adapt the recipe or keep the other ingredients the same? My mother's favourite cakes these are so I was hoping to cook up a batch for her but my father not too keen on the fruit
Hi Kelly. Yes you can just leave out the fruit and everything will be fine. However, since your mother enjoys them with fruit you could make the batter and take out half and then stir fruit into the other half.
12.5 tablespoons of butter?? How on earth do these poor Americans measure *that* out accurately? 😲 Why don’t they just get some scales? Seriously. They cost about £2 in a supermarket.
Folks are lovin" what comes from Geoff's oven. For goodness sakes, Geoff bakes cakes.
For goodness sakes, I've got the hippy hippy shakes. I can't stand still so I do nippy nippy bakes.
Brilliant fellas!……..😂……..xx❤xx

The order of mixing the ingredients surprised me, but they aren't biscuits, but more like a scone. Lovely!
