Correct! All of my clubs are Jumbomax because they are comfortable for me. Also no limit of balls hit in practice because of cushion. I am 72 and have a bit of arthritis so between the grips and graphite shafts my body thanks me.
I went to Jumbomax and find I can hold the club much lighter thus creating less tension in my hands, arms etc which for me creates looser swing, less curve and good distance with less effort. Definitely a personal thing.
I use JUMBO Max grips and single length clubs when I use the 'Marcus' type swing......in to out.....draw.....push slap release......because it is a simple swing......I use my normal oversize grips and standard length blades when I use the roll release type swing as it is more handsy per se.......I'm 64 now and using alot more of the 'Marcus' pushslap release nowadays.....It is the easiest swing for me.......and easiest on my back and joints.......
I'm wondering if the Jumbo grip frenzy was also fueled by endorsements from John Daly and Bryson DeChambeau after a vid they made together playing and telling the camera (audience/viewers) that "you don't need lessons, you need better grips". And they were referring to larger grips. Food for thought. Your answer here is logical and smart.
I experimented with the jumbo max, but went back to midsize. I’m glad I did, you actually use your hands a lot with big grips it’s just harder to feel cause more hand is contacting the club. I think it taught me some awareness with the club face and sometimes I bring out the club with the jumbo grips to hit a few balls for feel.
Can you review your favorite and most critical home practice drills to ingrain the speed of circle. I particularly find the non ball drills such as the figure 8 and swinging the rope drills beneficial. However I think there are several others that I don't remember that will help.
Hi Marcus, thanks for the video👍. With regard to the golfer who’s name you couldn’t recall, was it the South African golfer Arthur D’arcy Locke affectionately known as Bobby Locke (because his idol was Bobby Jones)? He played everything with a big draw or hook and he won The Open Championship four times, in 1949 (Royal St. George’s - after a 36-hole play-off), 1950 (Troon), 1952 (Royal Lytham) and 1957 (St. Andrews). It has been said that he also hooked his puts because of his “U” shaped putting style, but he actually timed contact to perfection and was a master with the putter. Thanks again for ALL your videos and teachings, you make it so simple👏👍
@@GolfwithMarcusEdblad that is great l am still laughing I hate to lift weights anything heavier than diver is to much hard time with sledge hammer any more
I like the JumboMax brand grip size Large because when put my hands on the club I’m holding it and not squeezing it locking up my hand arm muscles I can still do what I want with the club and my hands with a beefy grip Comfort confidence contact With out it … good luck 👍⛳️👍
Marcus after 35 yrs teaching golf and playing 5 to 6 days a week I had to go to arthritic grips and graphite shafts at 77. Was that Billy Casper you were thinking about who hooked the ball. I met a lot of the older golfers at the PGA in Orlando and had a chat with several of them. Doug Sander was my favorite and I got to know him when I was in the Army. I never warmed up either before a lesson I didn't have time to busy.
I was thinking about Bobby Locke who used really thick grips. Just a curious question: I you didn't warm up could you execute/show any shot requested anyway? I need a warm up both for my body and brain. 🤔
@@GolfwithMarcusEdblad I hit balls on the range before work and I played every day after work and lessons. But I was was younger. I didn't start losing distance until I was given a antibiotic at 68yrs that wasn't suppose to be given if you were 60 or over. Damaged my femoral nerve in my left thigh. I was very flexible when I was younger and hitting balls every day before work I was warm. Most of my students I taught them to hit it straight then draw and fade. Most just wanted to hit it straight. That was old school. Your swing is easier on the body in my opinion. Cheers.
Marcus. You are phenomenal. Just want to Thank you. Can you give us the dimensions of your simulator? What do you think the minimum distance a person can stand from the screen and what is the launch monitor. It looks like an older foresight? would a GC3 be good enough for us at our homes? new Garmin R50? by having the launch monitor in front, it seems like a huge indoor space saver. Thanks!
Hi Morris. In this video I am using a Sports Coach simulator from England and it is old. A GC3 is fantastic for indoor practice. I use the older GC2 and think that is good enough. I don't need club data anymore but I want accurate ball data. I stand 10 feet from the screen and my simulator is 10 feet high inside and 20 feet wide to accommodate left and right hand players. Ok?
@@GolfwithMarcusEdblad Perfect. Thank you very much. I suspect if I am just accommodating right handers then I can make it less wide. Appreciate the quick response. Glad you are feeling better.
@@morrisamiller Just build it so you can hit the middle of the screen. I have built a very narrow simulator in my house with only a 6 feet wide screen so it feel like I'm still hitting the middle of the picture.
@@GolfwithMarcusEdblad Is there a video or photo where we can see that? 6 feet would be great and easier to install. Any details on your screen or projector? and...most importantly, the turf to ensure no damage to your elbow?
As you say. One size doesn't fit all. The only reason I changed to thicker grips is that I have large hands and long fingers, and in addition a guitarist with longer nails on my right hand. With a normal grip my fingernails stick in my palm when gripping. Fat grips helps and I've assumed those are manufactured just to the purpose of helping folks like me with big hands and fingers. Not to improve my technique, just to give me a better grip.
PS. You did in a other clip express a wish to learn how to play the guitar. If I didn't live in Skåne (south of Sweden) I would offer you an exchange of lessons ;)

I use jumbo grips because I am a carpenter and all my tools have thick handles so it is normal for me,I totally agree it is a personal choice.
Interesting connection with your job. Nice. 👍
