This is excellent coaching and advice. The only other coach I've watched with similar advice is Bradley Hughes. Former Aussie tour player who now coaches some PGA players. Unfortunately he no longer makes UA-cam content. Glad I found this channel.

I taught a friend the same concept.....hands out in front of the trail shoe.....then hands in and up to the left side followed by the clubhead coming into the inside quadrant of the ball. She has won 6 club tournaments in the past 1.5 years. Thanks for reaffirming this swing concept.

This is the best move on you tube from the last years. I had shanks and inconsistent iron play. Long game an short game is great. But irons make always the difference on the round.
This move with the camera from the top helped me so much today. I started pitching today for 2 hours 40 up to 110 meters and after 2 hours of iron play on the range. I could not stop because it was so simple and effortless.
This is a game changer. You feel the effect right in the beginning. How simple and effective. WOW effect included. Why nobody told this to me earlier?

Halleluja and thank you for this video. You need to watch it 2times because of the complexity of the mechanic’s … but wonderful when you have understood …

The way my brain works with my body is exactly what this video gets across both in your descriptions, analogy, and visuals! I have been seeking to understand the relationships throughout the swing of the hand path and the clubhead in EXACTLY this way. This is validating the way I approach understanding my clubhead is through where my hands are appearing in my right peripheral relative to the ball, the path they take as they move thorough my field of view to center past the ball, and then the way they move through my view past my left side and foot. A huge sanity check for me as others never understood what I am talking about explaining my swing.

Just brilliant Stuart ! 8:40 in the video is my A-HA moment....I have never visualised (or felt) that movement...handle towards the ball line...then back under....have tried it on the range and feels so natural...and smoked some drives last weekend on the course as a result. I will be back to see you after a bit more practice with the irons....thank you so much !

One thing I have found that helps is to think - left femur (hip) internal rotation as I pull to initiate downswing. This helps me get my hips and shoulders open at impact .

Finally starting to get what you are talking about. Now to the actual application or doing. Tried this approach yesterday while playing and most of the time was able to make ball contact. Some of the time topped or hit the ball fat. Was trying to use suggested left hand grip. Misses might have been ball placement or tryin*to swing to hard.

Stuart, I have literally watched 100s of UA-cam videos and this is by far the best explanation out there. I've taken what you explained to the range and it works for me - from getting into the slot to impact to swinging through from low to high to the left. Done correctly with a tensionless grip the swing is effortless and the ball goes straight and far for me. Thank you!

I have watched hundreds of videos about golf. perhaps thousands and I have never ever heard anyone explain a few key answers to questions I had. This guy has got good pupils because they have asked vital questions and the answer in this video is actually astonishing. So he is saying that the club path and the hand path are not the same and a kind of end over end swing squares the face through impact and that the hand path does not match the swing path. The intent is superbly described with the lorry (truck) turn in the video. If this is correct its an absolute game changer. I cant wait to try this. I could never explain how the pro club path worked and always suspected that there was some part of the jigsaw left out. I have never been able to explain why the hips can be back to target in the down swing and yet hands moving outwards without this explanation. Ive tried many crazy rotations and all sorts of home made moves to make this work. I really hope this is it. When i was a young lad i could shoot single figs with a crazy home made OTT move and have spent decades trying to swing from 'inside' and remained 14 hcp forever. I will report back and even make a video if this works.

your swing looks really great. however if i try moving the handle down the forces of that move force me to stand up through the strike (and you dont). so that handle down move is something thats not as simple as it looks. how are you avoiding early extension? Is it all right side swing driven and no pull down? (im checking the broom stuff now. many thanks. Greg@@GoodGolfCoaching

Played nine holes in my golf league later in the day. I hit 6 of 7 fairways. Only missed fairway was just off a couple of feet. Drove ball farther than normal. Shot a 39. This is my first time stumbling across the channel, like everyone else, my natural swing is over the top. Now, I am the golfer at 4:15! drop the hands with the back toward the target and then swing. My shots all go left as yours did. So I love your out of the box explanation and I especially love your hubris in calling other instruction rubbish...I tend to agree with the comment. That being, I have been trying to figure out how the hell you swing out first and then down? All the examples show the swing in pieces but not as one fluid swing. Please do another video more in depth on this as if this is truly the way we should be swinging, you're the ONLY instructor online preaching it and it would help many people. I want to get onboard but physically putting it into practice has proved problematic. I look forward to going through some of your other videos.

Interesting concept. Just stumbled on this channel for the overhead view. Pity the full swing is not recorded. Just the positions, from which it looks like you move massively higher than the swing plane with your hands to move massively under halfway the downswing. Must admit it makes sense mechanically, but looks like it's pretty timing sensitive. Which would be one in the 'timing risk' category for me as a former long time flipper of the toe which I have worked successfully to eradicate from my game over the last season shaving 4 strokes off the old mid-handicap using predominantly stack-and-tilt advice... so much to a point where my downswing lateral shift for low point control started stalling my rotation.. so I am looking for a way to get the balance between lateral and rotation in a happy place again to get more distance with less 'arms & shoulders'
I'll try it. See if it's repeatable..

The hardest thing in golf assuming you have a good back swing is getting your hand path to actually shallow/slight inside in transition and not go out. He is over the top and then dumps it under with active hands rotating. Good golf swings arms move down and not out towards the ball and you rotate through . Your arms don't separate from your body and if anything you feel a pinch with you left pack and left arm and lagging your rotation. all the guys who bomb it have that look.

Stuart great explanation as always - but i have one question, does this technique rely on ball position in your stance - ie , if the ball is too far forward your path will always meet the ball going left - is there an optimal ball position for this to work? Kind regards Nick

The combination of "shifting" your weight, "dropping your arms" and the CORRECT rotation of your shoulders , while maintaining the spine angle, are what you want. The golf swing must be seamless.
    .
7:47 - "Move your handle forward, .....hands almost on the target line...then dropping your hands down underneath ." doesn't sound right either. It would requrie perfect timing to make this work.

Pausing at 5:26 seems to show maximum right shoulder "external rotation", but my understanding of a "tucked" right elbow is that said elbow would be a *lot* closer to my belly button than that, leaving my left arm much more close to being vertical. Stuart a question if you will. The lorry or truck turning is a good representation of the swing but the lorry is traveling on a flat surface. During the downswing, the arm structure is lowered a some point at what appears to be a rapid rate. when is this started? Also, can I surmise that ulnar deviation occurs in the downswing but only slightly contrary to much instruction? Thanks.

    • @GoodGolfCoaching
      @GoodGolfCoaching  Рік тому +1

Dave, you're absolutely right; 2D compared to 3D is you like, with regards to the lorry analogy. It was to simply a way of explaining that we must manage a linkage and not a 1 for 1 feel or approach. The lowering of the arm plane is a big topic which i will aim to uncover in the coming weeks. Indeed it does occur in the downswing, or encourage would be more accurate. 😊 Best wishes Stu

Can you tell me that when you do the pull phaze, how far do the hands travel out and before they start to pull them back so you are exiting left, the reason I ask is I've been trying this technique but I hit straight pulls or if the face is controlled it's a fade, I find it impossible to hit a draw because the hand path is to far out towards the ball line.
Do the hands have to travel past the ball before the you start the pulling back and left, or do the hands only travel to the trail foot before they start the second part of the downswing, hope you can understand what I mean🤷‍♂️Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks Warren.

I am really struggling with this one. How do you put your hands on the ball line and then have the club come in from the inside to hit the ball square? Doesn’t the golf handle and the golf club move in a circle. I am trying to imagine moving the club from the backswing to the downswing and moving it abruptly to the left and not pulling the golf ball 30 yards. I am not disagreeing. I am just having a hard time conceptualizing. When you show the overhead view your hands do not reach the ball line. When you start pulling the club to the left this makes more sense to me.
