I’m not a nursing major nor have I ever googled anything medical related recently so why was this recommended on my explore page? The algorithm is a mess. I still watched and learned though cause why not? Great video!
This basically condenses all of chapter 1 lol, honestly read the book and I don’t see a point in reading the chapter if you covered main points and topics. This stuff is great.
Can you explain this? The systematic accumulation of knowledge is essential to progress in any profession… however theory and practice must be constantly interactive. Theory without practice is empty and practice without theory is blind” (Cross, 1981, p. 110).
Cherry Mae Andaya Hi Cherry! To be sufficient in any career, an individual must be book knowledgeable and be skilled in the hands-on portion of their practice. For example, a plumber has to be taught about the framework of a pipeline while he/she is in school. They also have to be adequately trained so that when they start their career, they can be skillful enough in their practice to be able to install and repair pipes. Or even as nurses, we learn about isotonic, hypertonic, and hypotonic solutions (this would be the theory portion). Then we use that same knowledge to hang and monitor IV bags for our patients (this would be the practice portion). Hope this helps :)!

Hi, I am Sophomore in Highschool and will graduate in 2 years, my plan is to be a nurse. I want to Advance Study to get a headstart in 1st year of nursing, but I do not know a lot about Science, my foundation is low in both Science in Math, I am only a Average "C-B" student, can I still study this? And what do you recommend for me to learn more to prepare myself? Thank you
Hi Klein! Nursing is a great career path. The great thing about nursing is that it doesn't have to be limited to the bedside. Great news! I did not have a strong math or science foundation when I started college either. Because my grades were not the best in high school, I enrolled in a community college. Many community college students increase their GPA, and transfer to a university, but some still study their degree in nursing at community college because it's cost-effective. Community colleges do not look at GPAs. I would also suggest getting a Biology for Dummies and an Anatomy & Physiology for Dummies book. Both books are cheap and can give you more confidence going into your science courses. As far as math goes, math in nursing school is usually referred to as "dosage calculations". I would recommend beginning to watch some videos about nursing dosage.
Hi Natalie😊, this lecture can be used as a learning resource for LVN/LPN students. The only thing that would be different is the Standards of Professional Performance.
The great thing about nursing is that it’s very diverse! Your license is not limited to a hospital or clinic setting. As a nurse, you can create your own opportunities. Plenty of nurses have already started to take on non traditional nursing jobs.
