In todays DIY Video i'm replacing a upper control arm in my 2006 f150. I had no intentions of replacing the upper control arms but I found out that the boot had torn and they needed to be replaced badly. This isn't a hard DIY but it's intermediate for sure. YOu will need a good selection of hand tools and some common sense to tackle this diy.

I just replaced the driver’s side upper control arm with ball joint and the left sway bar link on my 2008 F150 4x4. I did disconnect the outer tie rod and tied up the knuckle, then removed the spring/shock to gain access to the control arm bolts. I had to cut the sway bar link off. It took me 8 hours to do the job, but that was including recalibrating my torque wrenches and making 3 trips to the tool store and auto supply. It probably is only a 2-3 hour job, but I don’t do this every day. I feel confident after watching a quality video like yours that I can do my own work. If this 71 year old retired car man/ school teacher can do this job, anyone can! Thanks!

My friend, thank you for this video. I'm getting ready to do this very thing soon on my 2006 Expedition so this step by step is very informative. Keep up the good work!

Good video, but I think it’s also VERY important to mention torque specs. Please consider for future videos.

Broke my breaker bar on the bottom strut bolt trying to get it loose. Showered it in PB blaster and impact didn’t even budge it😳

I just did it the other day. They're torqued super tight. I also used a ton of pb blaster and ended up forcing it with two long thick wrenches together. Even then took all I had in me. Tough suckers

That's where having a good oxy/acetylene torch comes in real handy. I used to do brake and muffler work back in the early 90's and I can tell you that the torch (or blue wrench as some call it) will work wonders. It became one of my very favorite tools when I worked there.
