Howe: "My men seem to have been delayed. They'll arrive tomorrow, I'm sure." Bryce: "Maybe they'll arrive at night." Howe: "No! There's no possibility of that and you shouldn't be on the lookout for them at night." Bryce: "Well, you know your army best. I'll be sure to tell the guards that there won't be any people approaching the castle tonight."
Oh man! I've played Origins multiple times and yet never knew that Marithari and Merill were in it. Never played the Dalish origin and now I am totally hooked on playing a Dalish Elf char.
It's nine years in November 😩 it's the longest time we had to wait for another Dragon Age and I am starving for Dragon Age and for Mass Effect as well. I miss those days DAO is the best game of the game series and the best game of all time in my opinion ❤. I hope Dragon Age Dreadwolf is going surpass our expectations.. Bioware needs to deliver otherwise they won't last long
These intros are a huge part of why I like Origins the most. Each gives the player a chance to create a motivation and context for their character in the world that has at least some influence later on. Playing a dwarven noble makes Orzammar always my first stop, having a score to settle with my brother. Of course, these could have had more consequence on the later game (i.e.: Where the hell is Fergus? Meeting him earlier and together working against Howe would have been great), but still, I appreciate the options. Each Origin feels different in setting and introduces a part of the world really well. DA2 had a very specific and set story around Hawke, but I wish Inquisition had something like this, as context and motivation why the main character was at the conclave. I often felt it was difficult to decide how my Inquisitor felt in their role, because there was no roleplaying or story before one took that role. Edit: The city elf origin, with Shianni implied to have been raped, is particularly intense and really shows their plight. It was the only character I played that was "evil" (I wanted to see all the terrible choices I usually don't do), and this origin gives a great background for someone who fights the blight out of concern for their family, but doesn't give a shit about the rest of the world, which has always treated them as lesser.
Great video! Those playable origin stories are all well done and i would like to see them return in Dreadwolf. My favourite one is probably the mage origin except for the side quest where you have to clear out the cave from spiders. Damn arachnophobia😅. But the harrowing and destroying the phylactery are really fun to me. I am happy to hear that you are going to do recap of the DA series although i know the games inside out. PS: My favourite tea is peach ice tea.
Thank you! People have been speculating based on the trailers we've seen, that we're getting something along the lines of faction based origins, which sounds good to me. Even if they won't be as big as DAO's origins, it would still be better than Inquisition's bit of text xD My favourite is the Mage origin too, it was the first origin I ever picked and it's also my canon! Also... Oh no, have you seen Spider with hands? They showed him off in the behind the scenes trailer a while ago. 😭 (I feel you though, I also have arachnophobia lmao. Though for some reason I am mostly okay with video game spiders. Mostly. Some games have an arachnophobia mode, which I am glad for hahaha) Ooohh, nice. Ice tea peach is great 😎
@@LisaLynnsTavern Oh yeah, that spider with hands, great. I am also mostly okay with spiders in games but the jumpscary kind of way how they appear out of nowhere gets me every time.
I prefer hot chocolate to tea, but I did watch all the way to the end. I really like your content, and I'm looking forward to watching you tell the story of the first three games.
I had at least one playthrough with each of the origin stories but still a pleasure to watch the video ^_^. My first one was a female city elf, who fell in love with Alistar but I took a decision that made him go away near the end so I decided to take the sad ending for my warden :C ... but still loved the game! was the first time I felt I could develop the story of my main character. my favorite one though is female human noble because with the right decision your character can have the title of Queen of Ferelden and Grey Warden Commander just sounds so badass 😅 But yeah definitively one of my dessert island games. thank you very much for the video and best wishes, I don't really drink tea though o___o but I would like to get into it heh any recommendations?
Took me longer then intended to get around to this, I only have done one if the starts (eleven alienage) but I have debated going back an all theses starts make me kind of want to more lol
@@LisaLynnsTavern My Warden was an Elvan Mage (because Arcane Warrior is too fun not to use). As for Hawke, I went with a Warrior (because I can't stand Carver). And my Inquisitor will likely be a Knight Enchanter (once again because it's awesome, but also because I can't stand having to use Vivienne).
Would you consider making a top of the best of Dragon Age, including the novels, books, live action and animated versions? I think your views would be interesting. PS: I'm like Solas, not a fan of tea.
My personal favorite is Dalish Elf even though Human Noble seems like the most fitting origin. My own ranking of them all: 1) Dalish Elf 2) Human Noble 3) City Elf 4) Dwarven Noble 5) Dwarven Commoner 6) Magi I’ll admit I tend to always have a natural bias towards Dalish Elves though. Even though it’s really fun to play as a Mage the origin story is really annoying to me.
I've always found the mage origin entertaining and informative, because it shows us quite a bit of the lore behind mages and magic right off the bat. But to each their own, I must admit that I haven't even played the other origin stories because I always end up going for a mage playthrough even if I planned to go for something different that time 😅
@@SniperKing5 I’ll admit maybe it’s just Jowan and his whiny bs I hated 😂 but idk really why I didn’t care for it. Lore wise it’s solid but every time I played through it it felt more like a chore than the other origin stories.
@@LisaLynnsTavern tbh I’m not really sure why I never liked the Magi one. Every time I want to play a mage I feel like that origin is such a chore to do. Still not as bad as the fade part of the Broken Circle quest though 🤣

Just finished a playthrough of Origins and I actually ran of Alistair and recruited Logaine as my second ward. Even made him sleep with Morrigan
Dwarf noble was my first pick and also my favourite.
Jovan should be made a companion
There was a mod for that at some point! Sadly it's not on the Nexus anymore, but it might still be around somewhere.

Dwarf noble origin story makes the most sense, eventhough mine is a human
Oddly enough, I'm playing through this series again. Getting close to the end of DA2.
Nice! What Warden did you play, and what class is your Hawke? 😄
