@@cristhianmlr his videos are nice, too, with interesting topics and good research put into them. But the production value of Mad's videos is quite a bit higher in terms of editing IMO. :)
Scariest thing is being in a raid and planning the next pull, when suddenly you hear a voice so scary yet so familiar that makes your skin crawl, your legs to shiver & your adrenaline to skyrocket.... "Time's up, lets do this!"
Fun fact about Thaddeus The screams stop once you kill it. I remember a story of a guild full of people who were terrorized by it and played with the game sound muted until they were able to defeat it, and for that they always run the construct wing first
When I first started playing I remember having to run through Duskwood and getting so scared. I couldn't level there at all because I was so tense the whole time.
So much effort was put into these small details that many didn't pay attention to. This is what makes the game so appreciatable and nostalgic. No wonder why shadowlands don't seem attractive to me. I know this type of comment is repetitive, but I truly miss the old blizzard.
Ohh yes the gamecard I used to buy those at Eb games, probably Gamestop for you. Might sound strange but the fact I had to go somewhere to buy the card was more grateful and rewarding than simply adding my parents c/c online, at least for a teenager!
one thing that should of at least gotten an honorable mention was the ghosts that only those with the pre-cata ability to Detect Invisibility (Warlocks) could see in the Ruins of Lordaeron or at Raven Hill, Duskwood.. So if you never play a warlock, or never used that spell in those areas. you could have been among those hidden ghosts and never know it for years. Still to this day most players don't know the existence of these hidden ghosts, so this fact alone makes it ultra spooky, especially if one day you did roll a warlock and for whatever reason happened to use that spell randomly in those spots then suddenly are surrounded by ghostly beings (especially in Duskwood since they are level 55 and if you're leveling, you're just level 15)...
Won’t get much sleep after seeing those furries raiding the inn. By far the most terrifying thing I’ve learned about WoW. Good work on the video btw! Best one I’ve seen on WoW in some time.
So glad the re-released Vanilla. Still enjoying experiencing all the things I missed the first time around, but Deadwinds Pass was one of the creepier places I remembered and still is. The grey lifeless looking zone with the hanging bodies and abandoned camps really gave it a creepy feel. But holy f, I never looked at the Gnoll tents before. Great vid as usual.
Thaddius' existence is as much tragic as it is horrifying and terrifying. If you kill him, his final words are 'Thank you...' before he drops dead to the ground. It implies that whatever level of consciousness it possessed, whatever else it was, it loathed its own existence. It didn't want to be what it was. It knew, on some level, that it was an unnatural abomination that went against the laws of life and the afterlife. When you succeed in destroying it, not only do you give the trapped souls the long sough after release they so desperately desired, you also grant this creature the mercy of death and it is thankful it no longer needs to continue its miserable existence. Whatever they did to make Thaddius, however dim its own consciousness may have been, on some level it knew it didn't want to exist and continue tormenting the living. It wanted to be destroyed, but couldn't disobey the command of its master to do the deed to itself. It needed an outside force to finish it off, and you and your friends were to one to finally deliver the death it sought for itself.
Late to the party but the echoes of Warcraft 3 happening in the ruins of Lordaeron was why I only played Undead as Horde and just sit in the ruins soaking up the ambience.
Really really really well made movie man. Humor with the "furries" and a really spooky theme for the Halloween. Always loving your content even though I'm not a WoWer anymore. Much love!
Something I don't see enough people talking about for some reason is that the Room of Upside Down Sinners in Karazhan Crypts is actually just a reference to Big Trouble in Little China. The room in question, complete with water and hanging, upside down corpses, even has the same name in the movie. There are some other references to this movie in WoW, like the 6 Demon Bag trinket.
Scariest part was having the volume up and expecting the iconic intro sound only to be met by something different with a small twisted amount of familiarity.
Before they release the Lucid Nightmare you actually couldn't get in to the Kara crypts without some clever use of collision detection or using log out tricks to clip though walls. The death trick didn't work.
The sound of toes snapping at the end was truly horrifying D: I think a missed one is the prisoners in the apothecary section of UC. I always found that disturbing.
Forgot the actual most scary thing... The first time, in Classic-WOTLK where you, as a Level 10-20, first start exploring the world on your own stumbling into a level 55-60 zone and aggro a beast from the other side of the zone because your aggro is so large, it doesn't end. As you try to run from this wicked beast, you aggro everything else, constantly dying, being reborn, dying again, being reborn until, finally, you make it to a safe zone, or simply take Rez sickness...... and then, you find out your repair bill!
Yes MadSeason, I might have heard it 000's of times... But I have never heard it your beautiful dulcet tones that are able to soothe even the most calamitous oceans, and that is important... Also truly terrifying.

I know this isn't like the other 9 you've mentioned, just as your first. But... Number 1 to me, would be thinking about all the players who have lost their jobs, lost their relationships, or their literal lives. Ever since the beginning, there have been so many people playing. And inevitably there have been people who died tragically. It even makes me tear up, to imagine all those souls, how much of an impact they must've had in other people's playing experiences. I could go on, but I can't...
