Another great Ron Pratt video! Many people with no experience don't understand just how easy it is to stick a big truck, especially when empty. 4 out of my 5 tractors have full lockers and they all have open shoulder drive tires. The one that only has a power divider is the first tractor that I bought (used) back in 1999. Full lockers aren't a cheap option and, yes, open shoulder tires do tend to wear a bit faster on O.T.R. tractors but, the extra money spent initially becomes money in the bank if you avoid having to call for a winch out a couple times. As always, be safe and God bless you, your crew and your equipment!
OMG watching you work so hard in that snow brought back memories of our life on east coast were in our mid 70's and moved to California for better health from our arthritis and asthma. God Bless you and your family.
You know, even though I do this for a living....I feel better when I exercise at the gym. Lord knows I need to get back there. Thank you for watching and God bless!
Ron, your commitment in coming to the rescue of stranded drivers, whatever the weather conditions , time, or type of vehicles involved, etc is commendable. I never fail to be impressed by your good nature and cheerfulness in all situations. Your recent vids showing some really extreme weather conditions and you and your Tator in action, says it all. Keep warm and safe.Very best Wishes Roy W. Nantwich UK.
I enjoy this channel: interesting material, and you are always polite to others. It is rare that I find a channel that doesn't use profanity or need to put someone down. Thanks
3 weeks ago we got 14-16 inches of snow in one night. Very unusual for us. Haven't seen snow like that in 20+ years. The street sides and sidewalks/curb cuts in many areas still have 7-10 inches that has still not melted.
you know we all want that but ron stated before no videos from in the shop bays due to customers not wanting exposure of equipment taken apart and knowing how shops work theres gonna always be a truck torn apart getting work done
Hey there I'm a retired trucker in South Africa/Cape Town.brother i simply love your show.you have the nicest manners and i wish for you and your company Gods richest blessings.stay safe and take care.a blessed day to you and your fam and crew.🙏🙏🙏🙏👍
Three good drivers there - they realised the go had gone and nothing they would do (apart from waiting for the thaw) would get the go back again so they called you to give them a bit of go to get them going
First saw them using a Yankum Rope on "Matt's Off Road Recovery" They are GREAT for a hard yank as they stretch on the initial yank and then kinetic energy adds to the total pull. Just don't let the towed vehicle run over the rope. In fact Matt always tells them to keep tension on the rope to be sure it does not get damaged by being trapped under a tire. Stay safe Ron. Riding season is just around the corner.
We've been on the bike a couple times. May get it out later today for a short ride. It's suppose to be close to 70!!! Keep the rubber side down. God bless.
Nothing more fun than trying to embarrass your buddy when they get stuck. lol!!! That was funny when you hit the Q and yelled Emergency!!! Your buddy Matt seems to be very chill about things. Thank you for posting this video and showing us the problems you face in the late winter/ early spring. God bless and lots of polar bear hugs headed out for you and your family and crew.
Good Morning My Good Big Bro Ron Pratt Sir & God Bless You & All Of You're Whole Family & Staff Today & Yes I'll Be Praying For The People That Was In This Automobile Accident
Just a tip to the new drivers that are watching this video. From a old used up driver. When you’re driving on the interstate, even when 100% snow pack your tires warm up. What gets you stuck in parking lots more times than not is the warm tires melting the snow pack then as you sleep your tires cool down and you get frozen in. To eliminate this BACK Into a parking spot , then don’t go to bed,, after being parked for about 20 minutes pull forward about 6 feet. Set for another 20 minutes. Then back up about 3 feet. Then set for another 20 minutes and back up the remaining 3 feet. This allows your tires to cool down. Set breaks on TRACTOR ONLY and go to bed. You won’t melt down into the snow and re freeze while you sleep resulting in you being frozen in in the morning. Just a word of advice for those willing to accept. Sorry Ron if this loses you business but keeping freight moving and appointment times met is the name of our game. On a side note. Ron Pratt is one of the best tow truck operators I’ve ever seen in my 25 years of trucking.
Come winter you need to mount a garden hose spool for the Yankum rope. Maybe dangle the spool off one of the D-hooks on the back for a quick release when you need to rig something on the back end.
do like the fire guys go, attach 1 end to a d-ring, lay the rest up in the deck area with the other end laying just within reach... get to job, grab the free end and pull off like fire hose
I appreciate the respect you show to everyone. My boys were taught respect growing up and they still practice respect in their adult lives. This kind of respect is very common in our rural communities in the Texas panhandle because a lot of our schools teach the kids respect also.
Good Friday RP , after two weeks of beautiful spring weather we get a cpl days of back to freezing temps and blowing snow on April 1. Todays forecast sunny and 70. Go figure GB Pratt Fam.
It snow here like crazy, but just lasted about 45 minutes and quit. Then it cleared up and the sun came out. It was like mother nature was saying April fools.
Ron, it is always entertaining and educational to watch you work. Your concern for safety is particularly admirable. It occurs to me that you and some of your crew could pick up a little extra income teaching people (not these gentlemen) how to drive in winter because some obviously don't have a clue. God help them if they came up here to Syracuse. Be safe!
Ron, as always, a pleasure to watch your videos, your polite and patience nature, taking your time to explain what you are going to do and why. With all the snow and ice, you have been working through I have only seen one thing missing................the infamous "Pratt fall!" As you say keep safe and I look forward to the next video.
Reminds me of the time back in 1965, an airman friend and I pulled 10 stuck cars back on the road in North Carolina. We were driving from Sumter, South Carolina to Goldsboro, NC when it started to snow, (less than 6 inches) I was driving my 1954 Ford and had a piece of parachute harness and a knife to cut the knots after the pull.No chains, just technique.
It’s Friday, fun day with Ron Pratt. Your wave and smile at the camera at the end, made me laugh. Made dreary day a lot brighter. Laughter truly is good medicine. Stay safe, stay healthy, and God bless.
Really feel your struggle Ron. Winter Storm Uri here in Texas wreaked unforeseen havoc. Its thanks to valiant hard workers like yourself that we were all safe.
Happy Easter to You and Your Family Ron...! You have no idea how much if an incredible inspiration YOU are to so many of us... and I'd like to personally say Thank You VERY MUCH...!!
God bless you for your videos. My husband sure enjoy your videos. You and your crew does amazing job. I know your job is very dangerous. Please take care.
Ron, Not to rub salt in a wound, Central Virginia, has blooming trees. Though this is normal, the temperatures are not normal, cold and cloudy. When the peepers arrive, 3 weeks or so, that will be my Spring. Sir, I just finished a round of convoys. Out of 300 trucks and trailers, only 3 had your horn sound. They were shiny, new ---beautiful. What bothered me, was an oil leak line from them. You see a clean curve from the parking lot turn black, eventually. Thanks again for your program. I truly am sorry about your storms. I have in-laws near Omaha, NE. Same weather as you. Winter 1970-71, I drove in this type weather in Fremont. First and last storm. Turned into a hermit. Sending a grandma's hug. Judy.
It was really thoughtful of Matt to not run over your yankum when he’d got a bit of momentum and you were sliding. I was also surprised how long it took the Q to spool down after you’d only run it for a second or so
Hey Ron; I laughed my butt off when you said, "no thanks, you can keep it" to the 4" of in-bound snow. I live about 40 miles south of the Canadian border, in northern Maine, and 4' of snow is "a dusting". Enjoy your dusting...lmao!
The farmers around there must love this moisture before preparing the ground for crops. It may be tiring but this is better than an office job any day. Morning/day pull outs have to be better than midnight pull outs, unless you’ve been up for two or three days straight. Much better to get paid to work out then paying to work out.
You and Tator are getting a work out. Lol. Its always nice when a driver knows their truck & follows what you tell em. Also nice to meet old friends. Just not in these cermstances at least it was only a pull out & not a wreck where you can have a good time at each others experience lol. Winter is where a tow person makes their $
You got me curious so I will ask the question as to what you term as an Alaskan style tire chains ( I have a suspicion of what you are referring to ) as indeed he needed help to get out of his own way !
Yah, but when YOU get stuck, you can either lift the drives off the ground with the outriggers and throw salt under them, or you can swing the boom over the cab and grab something handy to yank yourself out...Assuming of course, there's something handy TO grab...
Here in Norway the law tells us to bring at least 5 snow chains on a tractor and trailer combination. And it takes about 10 minutes to put on a pair of chains. We have a system called OnSpot which is a atomatic chain system you can have permanently mounted on your truck.
When I lived in Iowa back the early 60's. the freight company a block from my home had sand tubes in front the drive wheels to dump sand for traction. also V belts between the tandems.
26:23 When I lived in northern Canada a hundred years ago there was a sawmill accident because of no special lockout on the huge saws and a newbee turned on the giant saws when a man was down inside working. Amazingly he was able to hold himself rigid until they quickly got stopped again. the saws cut through his belt and the backs of his boots but he was uninjured. He sure wanted to throttle that newbee though.
When I was stationed in Frederick, MD I got a part time job haul milk from the farms around the area to the creamery. I drove a single axle Mack with a triplex. Many was the time when I would have to chain up back down what was really no more than a glorified cow path, drive back out to the road, unchained and then drive to my next pickup and do it all over again. Sure got good at backing up amongst other things.
I worked at a warehouse and they used a Bobcat to scoop up snow behind the stuck trucks to give them something to grip then used the "Yard Tractor" to pull them out. Living in NE Ohio we are use to snow. On the plus side, friends that do snow plowing said they've had a record profit year.
🖐😊Hello ....👏to the crew of Ron.widac, winter has come back and it is not letting go, you have a lot of towing work again, greetings to the crew from eastern Poland, we have spring all over it, even warm 👍👍👍👌👍👍👍😉🖐

We got 5 days of the polar vortex when it first started and it was super super cold here in southeast texas. It was colder here than it had been in 100 years . Broke the record . I sent northern U.S.A a facebook message to come and get there weather because we had enough of it already
I hear you say go slowly. That means that the tow truck drivers should have lots of patience. Oh, by the way, congrats about the new and first grandchild. Hi, to the new parents.
11-20-21. Almost ready for another cold season. Winter. Ron may not see this as it is just information for interested parties. The deep exhale, Ahhhhhhhhh. Expels tension. We hear Ron do this often. Took me a year to figure out this. I do a deep inhale first. Both work. Not a sign of old age. Just a tension release. My kids have heard so often this sound, they do not ask if I am ok. I am. Now I am teaching the grandkids. Try it. Wish I could see responses.
Great video Ron! It makes things so much easier when you have experienced drivers that you don't have to tell them every little thing they need to do to help when making a pull. Hook a tanker to that black Pete and it would look like the Rubber Duck rollin' down the road. LOL Stay safe and healthy out there! Spoke to ya later, I'll be 10-10 on the side.😎
Ron, I live in rural Southern Minnesota...we *are* used to 4-6 inches of snow at a time - and we don't laugh at it either. And you should know by now not to taunt Murphy.
When’s the ship was stuck in the Suez, they needed Ron and the Tator!
Ron is the first person I thought of when I heard the ship was stuck.
🤣
Had the same thought. The 'mighty' Tator!
Ron is the irl thunderbirds I mean the cartoon version.
I agree! Totally!!!
You are amazing Ron. No job you can't do, that's why I love watching your videos.
It’s patient men like this that built America. A great teacher and hard worker.
Amen to that

Hi Ron the one thing you definitely do not need in your life is a gym membership each one of your rescues is a total bad ass workout. Stay safe mate.
You know, even though I do this for a living....I feel better when I exercise at the gym. Lord knows I need to get back there. Thank you for watching and God bless!
I love the innate courtesy & politeness that Ron shows, as has everyone else I've met in the south. Rob from UK
Missouri isn't the south, sir. Its Midwest.

I have never seen in all the years I've been watching the rotator that dirty. That goes to show how hard Ron was working the last couple of days.
Its like watching Matts Off Road Recovery on a larger scale!
Yup, I just finished watching Matt's new video, and now I'm catching up on Ron's Videos! Love it when they both post new videos.
He's my other favorite channel.
Especially with the Tow ropes.
Yeah I bought a yankum rope from Matt 2 years ago!
Nobody would want to miss a Tator Triple Play. Get the popcorn and the root beer!
Man tator is workin hard ! A maintenance video on tator would be very cool
I’d love to see a video of him cleaning it

A Tip if I can. Warn people NOT to over run your Yankum when they are in control of their vehicle. Love your videos, keep them coming.
You are one very popular guy, Ron. Especially when it comes to snow! Great jobs!
As always, stay safe Ron and all who work at Midwest Truck, along with all those who keep our roads clear. Keep up the good work.

Goodmorning from Southeast South Dakota.
Will wacth this evening for it is wash the maintainer day and fix what needs fixed.
Well... 10:30 pm and the day is over and time to relax.
So Mr. Pratt... Action...
Great video Ron! It makes things so much easier when you have experienced drivers that you don't have to tell them every little thing they need to do to help when making a pull.
Hook a tanker to that black Pete and it would look like the Rubber Duck rollin' down the road. LOL
Stay safe and healthy out there!
Spoke to ya later, I'll be 10-10 on the side.😎
Good morning Ron great video. Be safe out there. Spring was here and it's cold again here in Saint Thomas, Pa
I liked the split-screen view. Do it more often. Good job as usual. Stay safe.
Ron, I live in rural Southern Minnesota...we *are* used to 4-6 inches of snow at a time - and we don't laugh at it either.
And you should know by now not to taunt Murphy.
Ron, would it be possible to place a date/time stamp on your videos? I think it would help your viewers a lot to have that information.
Another WOW 😮 thanks for your time Lee
