Join me as I explore a brook with a big name called the 'Humber Brook.' It's my first birthday without my dear twin brother Paul. It's emotional, beautiful and inspiring. This one is long but it's a story unfolding. It's one of my best I think.

What a wonderful tribute to your twin. Your work is an absolute gem that I feel so lucky to have found. You have spent several birthdays without Paul now and I hope they have gotten easier. You have a calming, knowledgeable and honest spirit about you, it really is creating pathways for nature lovers everywhere. Thank you and much much love.

Thank you so much Jamani - that means the world to me. I try to be loving, kind and calm but you know life it is often a struggle to get it right inside. But we endeavor and nature helps with that as does remembering our origins. Take care of yourself and many thanks again. Mark

What a gift this video is, not only to your brother but to all of us. It was so interesting to see how the animals were with you, the little lamb, the Curious horse, and wonderful wonderful green pastures. Thank you for posting this. For any others that have experienced a death this is a beautiful film.

Hi Jules - so happy you could watch. It was long in parts but I just went with the flow. Yes the animals spoke including the fox at the end. Herefordshire sure is green....this one is hiking in grief for sure. Thank you Jules once more. Appreciated as always. Mark

Your video is great, you have the gift for wonderful honest work, you understand it with people and nature sensitively to handle filled. You are authentic in your videos, and you open your soul. It was all in your video, love for nature, honesty, memories, happiness, pain and sadness ... just Mark - the human being, so you are and so you show yourself and so you show us your videos. Paul is with me all the time and I just have to let it out in a way that's positive for me and all. I guess that's where the real person comes from and indeed it comes from my dear brother. He is the maker of this also if you get my meaning. Well, Angela thanks again. It means a lot to me to hear from you. Take care and the best. Mark.

A truly wonderful watch and listen Mark and so beautifully put together wetting the appetite to venture out more, near and far. Your heartfelt thoughts resonate. You are a master of your art. John Muir...words to live by and your words also...''you've not got to flap and feel your way'' are equally wise and valid as is the poetry of your dear brother. The generosity of the landowners who granted you permission to make this walk possible is to be applauded. I hope that the lamb that you encountered recovered. Camp Risbury...I like that Mark and your tent set up looks great. You weren't wrong about that waterfall. Stunning. Nature and the great outdoors is truly great and is indeed the antidote to many of life's woes. Thank you for sharing this masterpiece with us. Thank you for the mention. Paul :)

    • @WyeExplorer
      @WyeExplorer  7 років тому +1

Paul you have a way with words. Many thanks for your elegant and eloquent words. The land owners made this happen really. I mean If I wasn't able to relax I would not have captured the cascade like I did. So credit to them. I think the lamb was ill. As I said it was its fate, which of course I have no knowledge of. Well, thanks for all your insights Paul - much appreciated. The walk was fully immersive. Take care and have a great week. Mark.

A brilliant video, beautiful and moving. What a journey, the inner journeys often take us over the steepest paths and the roughest terrain we ever have to tackle. Thanks for sharing, your courage and determination are a lesson to us all, that no matter how hard the road, we need to keep putting one foot in front of the other. And your humility, is amazing, not letting your grief cloud you eyes to the needs of others, and having the courage to openly share your sadness and the generosity to share your hope. Thanks.
And the countryside, oh boy, reminds me of home. How right you are, without the humble brooks there would be no mighty rivers, to understand the big picture you need to appreciate the small things. Sorry to wax lyrical but that was a pretty special video. Atb, rich.

Am sure it was quite painful for you doing this video, it's never easy when we lose loved ones, as i have said before we never get over losing them, i think we just learn to live without them as we get on with our daily lives, and am sure that's what Paul would have wanted, hope you are keeping well my friend, take care there... Mark, what a beautiful journey of remembrance. I loved the poem "a heart soaring with love", brought such a smile :-) Loved the view from the tent with the sheep in the orchard and that waterfall and the fox It is so cool to hear your honesty about how hard things have been since Paul's death and that you nearly didn't make it, but have working so hard to find that peace mentioned in the poem. It really sounds like Paul is giving you strength to continue on the journey, wherever it goes. Really appreciate you sharing your real life. You couldn't have done a better thing :-) Thank You.

Hi there Dave, I was only thinking of coming to see you the other day. I will be in touch next week. It was a fabulous cascade - one of the best in these parts. Paul did a great job...shame we didn't get to do it together. Happy to show you the tent. All the best and see you soon. Mark

Nice one Dave - drink away. About the pain? I lived with Paul, dreamed with him, hiked, camped, swam and danced. I went back from before birth and the moment he died the 'we, our and us' disappeared. It's been a massive identity shift. Physiologically it's been painful also because we were so vibrationally attuned as identical twins. Phew it's 8 months and I've been doing well but the pain is still there. This walk helped. A pleasure to share. As I said you guys have been brilliant. All the best over there. Mark.

Talking with Paul all the way. 9:46 Yep, do recognize that Mark. And obviously you're a poet too.
Loved to follow you on your hike [apart from the Paul-aspect, was even a bit envious]. What a beautiful area. And this time managed to track you on the map all the time. And loved that Erica-following horse later on. Magnificent place for a wildcamp that orchard cum hill fort! By the way, amongst archaeologists there's an discussion/reinterpretation about the main function of those forts ongoing.

Hi Wilco, glad you could follow me on the map. It's good that - I do the same with your videos. Yes as I said a wonderful view - not a mountain view but a wonderful view none the less. The whole birthday hike and wild camp was good therapy - Erica, horse and all. Thanks for watching Wilco. Appreciated. Take care. Mark.

Still very very painful for you mate, we can all see. Not easy losing someone so close, I know what is like though, lost my brother in 1992, there was only two years between us and we were like twins, knocks you for a six, totally. The wounds do heal with time, but they never leave you.
Another great wild camping/hiking vid, hope we're going to see more from you this summer, and this winter too, thanks mate, thanks.

Thank you James. Yes the pain is daily. As identical twins we were so vibrationally attuned the moment he died I felt it physically as many do. The 'we, our and us' went also. As you said you understand James. You will see more of me - outdoors is where life is. Of course we have a home but we do illuminate once out. Take care my friend and thanks again. Mark.

Hello there Mark and belated birthday wishes. I was looking for time to watch your video but actually watched it twice in the end and well worth it. It was truly a great hike and in some way has helped you a lot to discover your new relationship with Paul as well as the land. It’s hard to believe it is not that long ago. You are doing great and you are helping others in similar positions. The fox and the kingfisher, there is reasons for these things! Erica is a special friend isn’t she, to you both. Got the maps out to see your rout - I can see it took some planning. What a great waterfall - always great to find the unexpected. BTW you’re a great people person. Looking forward to more videos of the fantastic Wye.. ATB Stephen..

Hi there Stephen, I was only thinking of you the other day and have popped in to see what you've been up to also. Hope your well. Thanks for watching - it's appreciated. This one was sad and inspiring and as you say another way of figuring out my new relationship with Paul. I know you know these things Steve. The nature was for sure speaking. The fox? I still wonder about that. Yeah for a small brook that was a good cascade of water.......well Stephen life is full of the unexpected for sure. We have to respect it at all times. Take care up there....Mark

Thank you so much for sharing your walk. I lost my younger sister who was also my best friend and your words, poetry and the beautiful simplicity of the moments that you shared had me in tears but left me with an overwhelming sense of peace. I am now enjoying regular walks along my local river but you have now inspired me to search out some brooks as well.

Hi there Tinam good to hear from you. I'm so pleased this touched and inspired you. It was a simple hike - nothing heroic. And that's it really you can get so much out of the simple things. Paul loved it and he was with me all the way. I can understand your feelings in relation to your beautiful sister. Keep up the walks and yes explore them brooks - try and get to the source. All the best to you. Mark

I Just watched something very special there Mark. From beginning to end. I made some connections . I lost my brother and my son. Life went kind of wrong for me because of other events and I took time out of society. In nature and became a gardener. I ended up working as a gardener at Hampton court and also a gardener for CM mercer, so got explore some of the Humber and lugg on both neighboring land in that area. I saw some lovely things that only I saw while alone. It's a special place that area. You feel it don't you it's hard to explain. I'm not that good with words as you are. You are a special man. Just keep on putting one foot in front of the other as long as can and take it all in man. Because today is soon yesterday. Look after yourself 😊

Hey there Stephen, now that's petty special you being associated with that part of North Herefordshire. Yes, it is magical up there and not often explored especially that part the Mercer folk allowed me to hike over. Your time there must have been healing for you. I can imagine how that would be so. Thinking of your brother and our son - I send them light (pause). I agree yesterday is soon yesterday. On this hike it was the best of time spent. Thank you Stephen. All the best out there. Mark

Probably the Marches trail. Wow maaan I think you've got the knowledge. I listen to you and think Dan knows his history. That's what's good about what we both do - we learn through it. Well, I'm still healing - it was big loss - as you say though I'm getting into that good space. Take care Dan - that was a good comment. Catch you. Have a great week. Mark

We could fight and wouldn't back down but we had that receptive part to that always knew peoples needs. Well, a real pleasure to hear from you - to your own unique life Tim. Take care. Mark.

Really touching video, Mark, and happy birthday, it must have been hard for you, and truly heart breaking, but you have done Paul's memory justice, I'm sure. Full of beautiful scenery, and very informative throughout. Docklow pools looks fantastic, havent been fishing in a looooooong time. About time I tried to get my boys into it I think. And a wonderful spot to camp in , may not be a mountain but its a cracking view - especially in the morning with the birdsong. And a good reason to do UA-cam, I'm glad youre sharing your thoughts, and views, and taking us on more than just a hiking journey. Thanks a lot for taking us with you!

Hi Trevor, a big thank you for your kind words. Of course it's not been over by a long shot so Paul is still about in these videos and always will be I think. I'm doing him justice by grieving right if that makes sense. Docklow is big. I only captured a small part of it. You'd like it. Yep them views - it's all subjective. It's as uplifting as a mountain view - mind you some of them you recently experienced are far out. Many thanks Trev. Take care. Mark.

That was a long one Mark but I honestly I enjoyed every single minute of the video, even f it did take me a long time to get through watching it. Lol I have quite a few questions and things I want to say about the video. When you say you had to get permission from the land owners? how do you know or find out who actually owns the land? What happened to the lamb did you ever find out? I also love that new tent and also how lightweight it is, I wish I had ordered one like that myself instead of my hex peak. That orchard looks a cracking place for a camp or even using a hammock as it was so peaceful. I also noticed your sawyer filter is a different colour to mine, what's the difference between the orange one and the blue sawyer? I've also seen a few Kingfishers in my time as well, but I've never found their nest, the only bird nest I found on the river bank was a Dipper. Atb Glenn.

Hi Glen, many thanks for watching and sticking with it. The video had to be long....it was about Paul also. It was my first birthday in 49 years without him and I had some things to share and say. Glad you liked the other things mind. The tent is a good one. Here's a link. www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/equipment-c3/tents-shelters-c25/all-tents-c148/lunar-solo-tent-p4529 The waterfall for such a small watercourse was a real treat as was the orchard.
