      Yeah it was a good stretch. I must say though I do hike into Aber in this video. I really enjoyed it - a healing time for me after the death of my twin. That was one of the central themes in the video. Thanks for the comment. Mark

      @@WyeExplorer Just not the end of Aber I'm used to but then I did used to go for the student nightlife.. Yes the healing power of a good long walk in nature can do wonders. My one this week was similar though not as sad as yours. Being off work with stress and depression the Gower was suggested

      @@MrWildWales The end your speaking of has the hill ride or tram. Not been up there. As for healing. It didn't look like it but I didn't want to be here at all but I am and it's kept me going. So, yeah the vibration of earth works to overcome that stress and depression. Good you took up the suggestion.

    Wales is a healing place. All along your journey, you met others who were also trying to process their grief. I can't imagine the pain of losing a twin. What a pleasure to find people out there who can be vulnerable and share with others. I know this video was 5 years ago, but I can imagine the pain is still very raw. I hope you are feeling stronger and have found a way to manage the sense of tragic loss. I lost my Mother in 2005, so can relate on some level. Elaine 😊

    • @WyeExplorer
      @WyeExplorer  Рік тому +1

      Hi there Elaine - thank so much for leaving such a good comment. Yeah, it was like that on this hike. Cosmically the right people appeared. I do still feel pain over Paul every day but it is softer. We didn't get married or have children and lived together - proper twins. He would have loved the coastal hikes. I think you may to. Hey, the Welsh coastal path is waiting. Sorry, to hear of your mother. I'm sure she was a wonderful human being - she would be over the moon with you being out there. All the best and thanks again. I remember just over 4 years ago walking the Wales Coast Path, from Aberystwyth to Goodwick, near Fishguard Harbour.
    I did the walk in 6 stages, totalling about 85 miles.
    One massive bonus was that it didn't rain during the duration of the walk

    Wow this was a real adventure Mark, really enjoyed watching this! I looked through some of your older videos, came across "Coastal Path Wales" and thought "yeah I'm gonna like this" and I wasn't wrong. What a really lovely walk, seemed like a great journey for your healing process back then, and you met others on this walk who had lost family members too. Glad you managed to get your coat back too! You can't beat a good coastal walk, I always think that whenever I go back to Pembrokeshire. Some great coastal scenery here Mark and I loved that little hamlet near Llannon where you showed us the whitewashed cottage with the vases in the window and the church beyond. I've not been to any of the places here on your walk, expect Aberystwyth. Looked really lovely, enjoyed this thoroughly Mark. Hope my comments remain on your page this time too :) All the best. Cheers, Patrick :)

      Hey Patrick we got it mate. It worked! Really pleased you and Mary watched this one. It meant a lot to me to be up there with my friend Madan and then hiking to Aber. There were good memories there. Fancy forgetting my coat - good on Madan. As for the cottages they are beautiful. Pleased I showed you some new places. Perhaps you'll explore that little village and area now. Well, have a great evening - always good. Mark

    Love this Mark, really enjoyed watching. I started walking the Welsh Coastal Path myself 3 years ago, fitting it around work and family. Only had time to do 360 miles so far but over half way now so I'm continuing my journey. Best thing I've ever done and loved every step. I'm really sorry for your loss and I find being close to the sea somehow helps with the pain. Thank you for posting this wonderful film.

      Wye Explorer Grief inspires many of us to go on long walking trails it seems Mark doesn't it? It's part of my reason too. I think being alone with nature and exposed to elements makes you feel so close to your loved one or ones, you can talk to them to your hearts content because sometimes you don't see another soul for miles. I love that you are with Paul everyday he must have been a very special brother. Keep walking and posting Mark . 😊👟

      Hey I totally resonate with what you're saying there. The one things about hiking for me are the long awesome and natural and free conversations I have with Paul - he was my identical twin and we never got married or anything. Super close! I see where you have been in this respect. I don't know who you've been connecting with but he or she must have been dear to you. Really good to chat. Peace!

    I love the coast, I don't think I could ever move to far away from it. Even though I grew up in a land locked city, we frequently visited the coast, and honestly it wasn't more than a half hour drive. Both my parents grew up on the coast, (and my moms did going back generations). So I swear it's in my blood. I love exploring it. Great video! I'm glad we found each other's channels!

My YT journey started doing the coastal paths, after losing a very dear friend and then the separation from the wife i needed that space on the edge just to find myself, " ill just get to that next headland and see whats next" very healing. Great seeing this outing on the coastal path. A number of years back I found a book in a used bookstore that is part of a series on the coastal paths of Great Britain and it became a bit of a "dream" book. So seeing your walk brings that to life. Yes, we keep walking on our paths, literal and figurative, towards a future we had not envisioned but nonetheless lies before us.

    • @WyeExplorer
      @WyeExplorer  7 років тому +1

      Hi Jeff, Hope you're well over there. The dream sounds like a good one. Perhaps you could still come on over and do some exploring. I think you would love it - we could meet. I think you're right of course. We never envisaged much if any of this did we? So we face it pain and all and hope to find inspiration enough to heal. I trust that's the case with you Jeff. Well, it's been a pleasure once more. Until next time take good care. Mark.

The Wales coast path looks amazing and I can’t wait to hike all 870 miles of it 😊, I’m glad you got your jacket it looked like you needed it for the morning, but like you said it’s nice to slow down and enjoy the area and explore. I absolutely love coastal hiking and I’m fascinated by geology, I’m just in awe alot of time with our natural world it’s one of the reasons I love hiking so much. Oh yeah I do recommend slowing down - you know that one. Hey, I'm starting to gravitate towards the coast to. The nature there is full of awe. In fact that's why I went on this hike - the larger theme was grief. The loss of my dear identical twin Paul left me gutted and the awe and vibration of nature helped as did the meeting of people. Well, many thanks. All the best out there. Mark

    Mark, great to see that the landlubber in you has been introduced to the beauty of the coast. The need to walk - how that can help process painful events and promote the healing process - love to hear your thoughts on this and how it seems to resonate with others and encourage helpful conversations. The need that encouraged you to go and walk the coastal path because it was the right thing to despite the lack of map or coat (for a while). Looked like a fantastic walk, loved the stone balancing and your encounters with other people on their own particular journeys. Most of all loved your reflections on life and how walking helps to ground your experience of the world and your place in in it. Peace back to you :-)

    Most excellent blind trip Mark, in the past I have suggested various trips that you should do, (because you do vids so well) and this trip seems to prove what I have said before, more or less "go find other places", Nice one!

    I know what you mean, Mark, there's something very grounding about the coast line. We are lucky to live by the North East Cornish Coast, and I have found myself there on many occasion to clear my mind. But not just the coasts, but even the seaside towns have a healing quality, they have the 'Amity' feel to them. A great video, Mark, and a nice change of scenery, a bit of |Rock balancing, and camping on a football pitch? Shame about your coat holding you up and those cliffs reaching off through the mist - wow! Thanks again Mark. Trev

      @WyeExplorer  7 років тому

      Hi Trev, interesting word there mate 'Amity' so looked it up. Yes the friendliness of the coast. I think it's the constant presence of water. As you say some real healing vibes, which we all need for sure. Leaving my jacket? Well, I was talking to much and for got my head. It sure was a good hike though. Glad you enjoyed it. Take care out there. I see some new videos of yours. I'll be popping in. All the best. Mark.

    Indeed Mark...all a healing journey, coming to terms, finding sense in this world where at times there appears none, rising above, moving forward at times soaring like a Red Kite and others a struggle to rise above...no jacket, no map, human interactions...Tom, Harry, Hannah and Daniella and the result a wonderful adventure all the better for it. The sights and sounds, the sea air Mark will help with your cleanse....a different experience to the fields, woods and rivers of Herefordshire. I hope the book is progressing well my friend. Thank you for sharing this. Your honesty shines through. Paul will be proud. Take care :)

It is about twins in small town England, connection, disconnection, farming and SAS family, drugs, alcohol, redemption, will and discovery. Hi Mark, really enjoyed following your coastal adventure. Not sure if you're a blog reader but Ruth Livingstone finished the Wales Coast Path last year and wrote a well documented account. I remember reading that the southern half was hard to follow in places, even with a map. Ruth's currently in Scotland, looking to finish a full UK circuit!
    I've been to Llandundo, Great Orme and admired the coast from afar, along with Snowdonia.
    I look forward to hearing more about your book in the future. All the best for now.

    • @WyeExplorer
      @WyeExplorer  7 років тому +1

      Hi Olly, hey thanks for the mention of Ruth. I've just checked her out. She looks awesome mate. I think the lack of a map was good for me on this one but no doubt would get completely lost in the Southern section without one as you hint at. Llandundo - I hope you had a great time Olly - a nice explore about. Well, the book title will have to remain with me at present but it's about twins in small town England, farmers, an SAS family (mine and Paul's) and falling from grace and rediscovery through the outdoors. I'm almost finished with the foundation then more research and writing. Take care out there my friend. Mark.

    • @WalksWithOlly
      @WalksWithOlly 7 років тому +1

      I'll tell you something else about the coast path through Pembrokeshire... It forms part of the extended Appalachian Trail in North America. Think about it; thousands of years ago, these lands would've been connected as one. :-)

    • @WyeExplorer
      @WyeExplorer  7 років тому

      Sounds very interesting Olly. An extended version. We could start the trail here then. Any how, what did you think to my last message? I answered your question about the book and expanded upon your own journey in North Wales.

    • @WalksWithOlly
      @WalksWithOlly 7 років тому +1

      We had a good time in North Wales; five of us booked in to a cottage in... Waunfawr. We visited Caernarfon Castle one day, rode on the steam train, weather was too grim for a hike up Snowdon but I'm aiming to finally do that with another group next month.
      I'm sure I'll look forward to your book when it's available and I think it's great what you're doing. I once began a short story about a trip to Australia to see a long lost friend but I never finished it.

    • @WyeExplorer
      @WyeExplorer  7 років тому +1

      Well the North Wales trip sounds like it had some variety to it Olly. Perhaps go back up before the year is out and do Snowdon. Paul, myself and a friend Erica were up there in 2-15. It was a great day.
      The book is a matter of discipline. I write very day and review the work done. Also I am driven to write it on account of Paul. Maybe you should go back and finish that story. A good recod at the end of the day. Have a good one...

    I really enjoyed watching that video Mark, now forgetting your jacket, well that's the sort of thing I do on every trip. Lol I always think that you look happy after meeting and chatting to people when you're out walking and that is a good thing. It' the same here, I always like to say "hello" to people that I pass on the way, sometimes they will stop for a quick chat, other times they just walk past me without saying anything. I live around the half way mark on the Ayrshire Coastal Path and after watching your video it really does make me more determined to walk the Ayrshire Coastal Path at some point. Atb Glenn.

      Hi Mark, almost caught you in real time. Daniel was killed in an automobile accident. He was in his senior year of college, a pre-med student. The spring prior to his death he toured Britain with his fellow students, and when they flew home he travel Europe on his own until his money ran out. While in college he worked midnight shifts at the local hospital, then attended classes during the day. His best friend from school is visiting my wife and I on Sunday. Peace to you as well my friend, you do not travel this earth alone. Sincerely, Ossie

    Great outing Mark. Not having a map does force you to interact with more locals and places you would easily miss otherwise, I agree.I thought I'd been to Aberaeron, but looking at this, I plainly have not, it almost looks like a harbour on a Scottish island... Looks like this trip was fairly recent, judging by the greenery. There's nothing quite like a bit of western coastal path, is there ? Dave

      Yeah you can camp anywhere Trystan it's just not legal in England and Wales like it is in Scotland. We call it stealth camping. Find a place, tuck in and bug out in the morning. If they catch you it's; 'Where do you want me?' Simple! Take care bro. Mark

      Yeah, it was an amazing path and as soon as your moving and not so inwardly focused things seem to be in balance. I'm still feel strongly the loss of my twin brother Paul but it is better. Thanks my friend. Mark
