These videos are great. As somebody trying to get into Armada there is a ton to wrap my head around. These ship specific videos really help give me a direction or two for ships.
I haven't flown an Assault Frigate in ages, but this gives me some ideas! Thank you! The Assault Frigate was the first ship I got for Armada, actually! So, whether one likes the look of it or not, it will always hold a special place in my heart for this game.
question relating to "old stuff" - have you heard of any reprint potential? I'm hoping to get into Armada (along with a friend) but we immediately realized that most of it is out of print, and we're basically having to hunt down individual ships from city-level gameshop back rooms. So ... yeah ... reprints of old stuff rumors?
Great rehash of an older ship. I have always had a soft spot for the space potatoes myself. Love to see a 2020 video maybe on the victory star destroyer! So many upgrades that have breathed new life into a tired old work horse!
Really like this video! Thanks so much. There were quite a few ‘how to fly’ and build videos when earlier expansions dropped, so it’s good to see how the newer mechanics fit the older ships.
Love this video! If you’re taking requests - more of these please. One of my favourite aspects of any wave-based collectible system is how later waves have new and interesting combinations with old content. I love seeing how old content becomes relevant/stronger/weaker as the available options increase. Thanks for putting this together
Salvo is one of the greatest new mechanics to be added to the game. It'd be interesting to see what it would change if it had been around from the get go.
At this point it could be awesome if you considered having a second breakdown series on all the ships! For instance, I just realized that the *Pelta may be one of the best carriers* for the Rebels, sorry I don't remember if you mentoned it on your original breakdown: - Pelta Command Ship - Adar Talon - Fighter Coordination Team - All fighters, Follow Me! - Boosted Comms - Phoenix Home - Raymus Antilles With the help of Raymus Antilles you'd get to activate 4 Squadrons at long range (or 5 at medium if you swap Boosted Comms w/ Expanded Hangar Bay), and you still could toggle one of them back to active to attack again! Now, If you swap Adar Talon for Wedge Antilles you can have *3 B-Wings moving up to 5* : . Squadron Command . Raymus Gives you the free squadron token . Figther C.T. lets the B-Wings move +1 after your maneuver . Wedge uses the token to move +1 before the end of Sqadron.Ph. . All F.F.M. is discarded to let them move +1 _Well, it could be fun to have the slowest squadrons (and best bombers) moving at the same speed as A-Wings once! Or to be able to continuously match their scorting X-Wings at full speed!!!_ Oh, and you could also swap this one in for a different build: - Toryn Farr - so your squadrons may have some free rerolls
I've always been a fan of the AFII, been flying them for a long time since I grew up playing Star Wars: Empire at War. Gunnery Chief Varnillion and General Romodi have to be my favorite cards from Wave 8. Holding desired die rolls and manipulating obstructions to your own advantage are both super cool mechanics!
Ran the below last week against Empire and won, taking down an Onager (still waiting for Starhawk in the UK).... Name: New Ackbar Faction: Rebel Commander: Admiral Ackbar Assault: Advanced Gunnery Defense: Contested Outpost Navigation: Superior Positions MC80 Assault Cruiser (114) • Admiral Ackbar (38) • Lando Calrissian (4) • Engine Techs (8) • Electronic Countermeasures (7) • Early Warning System (7) • Leading Shots (4) • Home One (7) = 189 Points GR-75 Medium Transports (18) • Comms Net (2) = 20 Points Nebulon-B Support Refit (51) = 51 Points Nebulon-B Support Refit (51) = 51 Points Assault Frigate Mk2 B (72) • Electronic Countermeasures (7) = 79 Points Squadrons: = 0 Points Total Points: 390
Of the things that changed in 2020, Interdictor feels like one of the biggest changes. All because of the new objectives in Rebellion in the Rim - the gravity rift is SO GOOD with Grav Shift Reroute (and Grav Shift Reroute also does loves mines so very much).
My first and favorite fleet was Ackbar with a Defiance and 2 AFBs. The more I've been playing I realized how naked my AFBs were (gunnery and ECM). So much of wave 8 means i need to readdress my fleet.
I absolutely love the salvo mechanic! Counter on ships?! Amazing! I can see certain cases where that would actually keep people from attacking. It's hilarious to think about all the counter strategies though.
Thanks. We are playing the Corellian conflict right now and this have me some new ideas for my Mk2 AF.. currently I have spinal armament on it to make it just as good on all sides
It’ll be interesting to see how players utilize Wave 8’s new upgrade cards and Salvo. I haven’t encountered any players using AFM2’s since Wave 8 was released - mostly Starhawks paired with a Mon Cal ship, or an assortment of small ships - but it’s only been a little over a week. Considering that the AFM2A and MC80 Assault Cruiser both have the best rear arc batteries (2 reds, 1 blue), and the AFM2A is 33 points cheaper, it’s a perfect candidate for Salvo. As soon as Rebel players clue into that fact, I predict we’ll be seeing it more often now - perhaps as a result of @Crabbok’s video. Great job!
Gallant Haven i think has actually gotten better thanks to Advanced Transponder Net, Really good at tanking a big alpha strike or tying up bombers Paragon + Salvo is straight money tbh. Great vid!
One of my favourite ships when I didn't know what I was going up against. I didn't have to worry about min/max plans falling apart because of a lucky roll killed a "critical" ship.
As always a very informative video. New to Armada, thanks for the nudge to get into this awesome game. Hope the older sold out ships will be available again soon.
follow up on the rebellion on the rim comment, i think this is something FFG should be doing more than releasing new ships. Theres not a lot of ships that work in this scale, but theres an endless amount of modded ships or squadrons. So more "box of cards" would be great. I'd love to see some new ship variants that do more than swap some dice around and the occational upgrade slot, possibly swap out defensive tokens or even alter the shield layout.
Yea, would love it if you made more videos like these. Nice having updated videos on the different starships. Your creative thoughts rub over to us, thanks! 😁
I only got the space potato couple months ago but ive been running it with little upgrades and its pefromed fairly well, like it. My fav ship is probs the cr90, need more TRC's but i love its speed
My favorite new upgrade is the Agate commander card. She is tied for the cheapest Rebel commander AND breathes a ton of new life into old ships. Really hard to argue against her.
Probably an over investment, but definitely more tanky? Faction: Rebel My Commander: Kyrsta Agate Assault Frigate Mk2 A (81) • Kyrsta Agate (20) • Ray Antilles (7) • Local Fire Control (4) • Flag Bridge (0) • Electronic Countermeasures (7) • Linked Turbolaser Towers (7) • Paragon (5) • Take Evasive Action! (6) = 137 Points Squadrons: = 0 Points Total Points: 137
I know the way you say Agate is probably correct, but I feel "ahh-gah-tth" sounds better in my mind, sounds like "Agatha" which is a more common female name. LOVED the video, Crabbok! I wouldn't mind at all if you revisited all the ships! That would be awesome! 😀 I remember that the Profundity one was in a slightly different format, I think...
I’m still surprised they added the AF MK2 over the MK1. I can’t imagine how many mels miniatures have been made just to replace the lumpy potato. As commented below as well interdictor is my favorite. Still hoping one day for a vindicator
I really enjoy ship breakdowns. I also enjoy your "What to Buy" and "Predictions" videos. As for it the Assault Frigate Mark II is pretty.. naw man. But it is AMAZING to paint. You can make them beautiful even if you are an amateur like me.
Another great video. I wish this had been a different model. I can't bring myself to get it. Maybe if I find it on sale and picked up a custom ship I like better ...
Honestly, I would prefer the AF MkI over the AF MkII, cuz of Rebellion (PC game). But the AF MkII is a beautiful and awesome ship as well. As you explained, can't wait to see how Paragon can work well with Salvo. I think it can do a lot of damage.
Cheapest ship for Akbar broadsides with Gunnery teams is the Hammerhead scout corvette 41 + 7 for gunnery +10 for Enhanced Armaments ;) Its 21 points cheaper per a model, cheesy as hell, and not good but hey!
I understand if a lot of people dont like the look of the ship, that's preference. (I personally think the Mk1 is hideous and love the Mk2) what I dont understand is the comment I hear various places about it not looking Star Wars. It looks like an armored front end of a neb b to me. Even if it didnt, we have cruise ship death ray malevolence, space pickle home one, and impractical space triangles in starwars. So what makes something look Star Wars I wonder? I think the real lash back is because people who didnt care for the look are upset that it turned out to be a decent ship and in the early days they felt forced to field it. To each their own preference, but I will never understand "it doesnt look star wars."
Being someone who is basically brand new to the game, I definitely think you should do more of these videos.
My favorite ship in Armada. I'm happy they added this thing from Star Wars Empire At War
I wish ffg would reprint some of the older armada ships as it’s so difficult for us new players to build up our fleets
They are super slow.... and seem disorganized at times.
Yea I just got into it and I’m having trouble finding the ships I want
Great t-shirt placement!
These videos are great. As somebody trying to get into Armada there is a ton to wrap my head around. These ship specific videos really help give me a direction or two for ships.
Nice shirt. I kept wanting to click it since you're in the correct position on screen.
Crabbok, please make more of these. Helps showcase the new effects with the old platforms.
I haven't flown an Assault Frigate in ages, but this gives me some ideas! Thank you!
The Assault Frigate was the first ship I got for Armada, actually! So, whether one likes the look of it or not, it will always hold a special place in my heart for this game.

Great that you are covering old ships with the new upgrades!
Really like this video! Thanks so much. There were quite a few ‘how to fly’ and build videos when earlier expansions dropped, so it’s good to see how the newer mechanics fit the older ships.
Hi Crabbok my favorite ship for Armada is The super star destroyer for the Empire.
Love you channel and remember, more dekka means more awesomeness.
Love this video!

Yes, definitely more of these videos. The new cards add another dimension, and can change the function of a lot of the older ships
Damnit Crabbok! You made we want to click your shirt! Well played.
At this point it could be awesome if you considered having a second breakdown series on all the ships!

the starhawk is amazing I picked up mine last week

A real fugly ship that gets overlooked, some great combos and options, maybe salvo will be the biggest game changer for some of these older ships

Victory I + Heavy Fire zone + Agent Kallus + Flechette Torpedoes = Flak Cruiser. My favourite wave 1 revisit.
An interesting idea for AFMK2s. Never thought of running them with LFC and salvo tokens
Cool vid. Old Salty has broader options now, local fire control almost essential to get it above average as a gunboat 😊
Starhawk and super weapons for the rebels! Keep up the great work and yes I would love to se a revisit so we can rethink all strats!
Interdictor is my favorite ship. Idk why but I keep adding at least one to my lists
Of the things that changed in 2020, Interdictor feels like one of the biggest changes. All because of the new objectives in Rebellion in the Rim - the gravity rift is SO GOOD with Grav Shift Reroute (and Grav Shift Reroute also does loves mines so very much).
I love that there’s officially a sniper ship now, extreme range attacks are add so much extra strategy
I got an AFMK2 last Fall, so I'm very interested in this video. Thanks for sharing!
My first and favorite fleet was Ackbar with a Defiance and 2 AFBs. The more I've been playing I realized how naked my AFBs were (gunnery and ECM). So much of wave 8 means i need to readdress my fleet.

i love this ship. it took two onager shots at ulta long range and tanked them. the evade does wonders.
yes a revisit would be cool i look forward to them
This is the one rebel ship I still don’t have as it’s been hard to find. I would love more videos like this as a newer player!
Love the SSD and the Upgrade cards/commander which came with it
More vids like this!!! Recently got into armada, would love to see more videos in this style!
As always a very informative video. New to Armada, thanks for the nudge to get into this awesome game. Hope the older sold out ships will be available again soon.

I've been debating about playing armada four a while now... I really want the super star destroyer. My absolute favorite ship
Yea, would love it if you made more videos like these. Nice having updated videos on the different starships.

Crabbok is awesome, but the squeaky toy is the real star of this video
My favorite ship is probably the mc30. Both aesthetically and in function
I still don't have an AF MK2
I just discovered the game this week, so literally everything is new.
I'm enjoying the new superweapons ability to spice up battles!
I like how the assault frigate looks actually it is kind of cool as a mancala ship with fins and wings
I’m still surprised they added the AF MK2 over the MK1. I can’t imagine how many mels miniatures have been made just to replace the lumpy potato.
As commented below as well interdictor is my favorite. Still hoping one day for a vindicator
I love the mark 1, looks much better imo
I agree
Yes, more revisits!
Gave me a lot of new things to think about....thanks.
Favorite ship right now is the interdictor. Having said that, the Assault frigate is the only ship I don't own, and now you can't find one.
They are so hard to find... 😔
Amazon.ca.....has a few right now!
I agree with everyone else. Please do more of these!
Honestly, I would prefer the AF MkI over the AF MkII, cuz of Rebellion (PC game). But the AF MkII is a beautiful and awesome ship as well. As you explained, can't wait to see how Paragon can work well with Salvo. I think it can do a lot of damage.
I kinda like the pacing of Armada and it is really cool to have these kind of videos as a guide for noobs like me
Lots of new options now, changes old ships
It would be cool to see some new comparisons between new ones and old
From looks, Onager is probably my favorite. Functionality, the Nebulon-B is still up there
Salvo is the best thing. Makes battles feel real.
Love the skip ad shirt
Gunnery Chief Varnillian is super awesome. Hopefully she does enough to overcome the ubiquitous Gunnery team
Did we ever get confirmation for Heavy Fire Zone firing at long range?
I have seen a lot of speculation but nothing solid.
I'm confirming it.
I definitely think a lot of these older ships could use a new look
The salvo mechanics have a big impact in the game.
Actually running 3 assault frigates would be interesting
Cool video. Can you please do one for ISD I? That'd be awesome!
I am more of a fan of ackbar frigates, but maybe one day I'll pick up this ship.
Ah, death fish, how we missed it!
I think this is a good idea. But you probably don't need to do every ship, just ships that are most affected by the new upgrades and such.
My favorite ship is most definitely the Starhawk.
Me dead inside until this gets dropped off at my door along with rogues and villains :o
still trying to decide if i want to add armada to my list of games....just where is the time.....
I don’t think it’s ugly, tbh it fits into the rebel fleet well with the Mon Cala cruisers
I like the mark I more as well
I’d love to see an SSD breakdown
Do the mc30
The Starhawk became my favorite ship aside from the Venator
MK2 type A suddenly has a place in the game.
If youve used ackbar and you are attacked, can you use salvo?
Cheapest ship for Akbar broadsides with Gunnery teams is the Hammerhead scout corvette
41 + 7 for gunnery +10 for Enhanced Armaments ;)
Its 21 points cheaper per a model, cheesy as hell, and not good but hey!
I wish this looked like the one from the old Rebellion computer game
You'd also probably ditch the redirect if you upgraded with TLRC.
I love this ship and think it looks pretty cool :)
Ah the space potato, gotta get one of those
1:45 I am one of them!
Most beautiful space potato 😍
The Rebels do need another medium sized ship 🤔
How can people bash the majestic space whale's beauty?
I really like Vader officer
I want to try it with salvo
Also it really really needs a new title
the most beautiful ship is the super star destroyer and vader is op as an amiral .
I understand if a lot of people dont like the look of the ship, that's preference. (I personally think the Mk1 is hideous and love the Mk2) what I dont understand is the comment I hear various places about it not looking Star Wars.
