For those that haven't been following this, this ultimate fight is a reimagining of events that took place in the Heavensward main story but the first 4 phases didn't deviate from the actual events of the story which caused some confusion. Also, this is the first ultimate to have a checkpoint. After phase 1 where a key character dies, you start subsequent pulls in phase 2 so there was initially an uproar among some of the raiding community saying that this ultimate was catering to casuals. However, once we saw past phase 4, everything made sense. The checkpoint is there because of the timeloop and its only when you save that key character who dies in phase 1 that you can progress to phase 5 and onwards which is an alternate timeline from the actual events of the Heavensward story. You need to use tank LB3 to save him but you only have 2 LB bars in phase 1 which makes it impossible to save him at first. The fact that you have to save the limit break for that timeloop also means that theres some nasty back to back dps checks which have slowed down prog on this fight a lot. The best streamer groups are still stuck on phase 5 and there is likely at least 7 phases in total. Edit: The fight has since been cleared by one non-streaming group after 700+ pulls. Not including phase 1, the fight from phase 2 to phase 7 lasts 19 minutes without any additional checkpoints (the longest of any ultimate thus far). We have yet to see any streamer group reach phase 7 and there is no world second clear as of yet. Sadly this also means no kill vods yet since raiding etiquette for previous ultimates was to wait for other teams to clear before the world first group posts their clear video.

@@HalfLifeHalfDead yeah, although FFXIV’s setpieces are visually stunning, it really is a shame we don’t see different arena shapes more often, or any verticality period. Though I understand they don’t do the latter anymore because of terrain weirdness back in coils. It isn’t so much the shape as it is the arena not feeling “alive”, per se Arenas in stuff like Ozma/TG Cid, the Nier raids, and plenty of alliance raids in general feel “alive”. The designers probably have more freedom here since alliance raids are casual 24-man content. Still, it’d be fun to see a *little* bit of alliance wackiness in 4 and 8-mans And obviously, fights should care more about mechanics than shapes, but it’s nice to see the arenas used AS mechanics. Alexander Ultimate died fast thanks to cheating. The fight was also too easy on the healers, yet again. The main method of cheating used was an automatic marker mod that plants and replaces markers onto the safe spots to direct the party into their correct spots. It was found out because there was a nasty dispute over 2 teams over who got World's First Clear. When presenting the evidence, one of the teams exposed their own mod. Y'know like one of those streamers who show their aimbot UI on stream. This mod was also heavily used in Ultima Weapon Ultimate for an easy mechanic that is featured in many fights especially extremes and savages. Aside from suspending that team, I don't know if both teams cheated or which one between them was declared 1st place. But this cheat is the reason why the marker got updated in Shadowbringer shortly after. In addition to the improved marker UI, we are no longer able to add, remove or edit marker placement in combat.
I believe it could be done with macros but people also use triggers. It definitely makes things a lot easier but idk if I’d call it “cheating” In WoW everyone uses triggers and nowadays the fights are made with triggers in mind.
They would've gotten the world first anyways since they were the only group to discover how to acquire the enigma codex fight til they released the clip.
@@harryb12993 Yes it could be done with macros. They used a mod to use triggers. That is against the rules. Therefore it is cheating. In FF14, the fights were made to be accessible first and challenging later. Ultimates, believe it or not, are no exception to this. It's not to say the hard modes are equally easy as the normal modes, but it does mean they too adhere to certain principles which everyone exploits. And it has everything to do with why I said the clear was also due to how little it challenges the healer. Aside from that these ultimate fights are simply less telegraphed, slightly more punishing, and more tricky. These Ultimate fights were made to cater to those who wanted the hardest challenging boss fight FF14 could throw at them. And the first thing these people do is fake parses, bring back telegraphs as if it is normal mode, use a hack that manipulated the GCD to allow perfect tripleweaving and so much more. Keep in mind, unlike today's WoW, FF14 is not made with mods in mind because it's against the rules. Gordias Savage, the first raid teir in Heavensward and the worst ever is the only exception. And it was done entirely by accident. The reason why it was so overtuned was because the devs used parse data from top players to set the requirements. So what's the problem? Most of the top players' parses were doctored, so it was actually impossible to reach it NORMALLY. The devs didn't find out until after Gordias Savage went live.
@@dangerwarg9682 I think you’re wrong about the bringing back telegraphs and I’m certain theres no hacks to manipulate gcd. Idk about fake parses either. Would love to see some evidence of these claims
@@dangerwarg9682 triggers were not cheating, they literally had to write those triggers themselves since they were world first. It's just tts callouts nothing more. On the first run through you only have an LB2 bar, so you can't save him. After reaching Thordan, you get a checkpoint and unlock the LB3 bar. You have to then build the LB3 bar through Thordan and Niddhog and Eyes phases without spending it, bring it back to 'Phase 1' after the rewind, and then Tank LB3. This gives Haurchefant a massive defense boost and nerfs the 'healing down' debuff on him, allowing the party to keep him alive until the knights mechanic resolves. After that, they have to burn down the spear before it casts an instant kill. Only THEN, do you manage to save him and actually continue the fight into the alternate timeline. Keep in mind, the checkpoint only exists for reaching 'base timeline' Thordan. So you have to do ALL of the above, EVERY run.
I was playing wotlk on a fresh pvt server and raiding was such a waste of time. In 2hrs we just killed 2 fking bosses which were super easy (naxx) and we wiped only a few times but still time wasted was too much. Compared to ffxiv wow wastes so much time

so 6 phases. and people got stuck at the 5th one. That's gonna be brutal to clear.
It's basically confirmed that there's at least 2 more phases after the last one that has been reached on stream
think ultimate alexander weps look better, lots of the staffs/halberd look the same in this ultimate
yeah, while the idea with making the thordan ultimate weapons have the same models as the thordan extreme weapons sounds like a cool throwback/reference on paper, it just results in outdated looking models that need a bunch of effects and glow to make it look unique..
All Ultimate weapons are past models with new effects on them: ucob is final coil, uwu are the original relic weapons, tea are the 2nd upgrade to the heavensward relic weapons and now dsu is the thordan ex weapons
@@thegallantrayku2677 at least they're relic models which are always much higher effort and quality and can't just be crafted and bought on mb
Listening to him say he thought this would be a one and done, one day prog type of thing just shows how little he actually knows about or has paid any attention to regarding FF14.
Its a little more amazing you still consider his opinion on any 14 content past the end of heavensward valid. He is ostensibly a trial player.
Why are people getting mad at asmon for this? You are such a loser. No shit he knows little when he literally only beat heavensward. The ff14 fanbase can be such aids sometimes
I expect him to be ignorant of FF at endgame because he hasn't gotten anywhere close to it yet. He's in early Stormblood, I think? He hasn't actually done any of the more interesting stuff yet.

That ultimate fight looks bonkers!

Content King.
he will never play FF14 again will he?
@@einfachtoll he will in time.
"so that's the knockback"
He already cleared both Thordan and Nidhogg Extreme I can assure he can understand a bit of mechanic atleast
FF14 gets better and better like wtf 😭❤
and general single player FFs fans keep ignoring 14 XD
@@MelaniAlarcon yeah such a huuuuuge mistake ~ i've been there once, i was like "nah it's an mmo, it could never live up to the other mainline titles"

@@akiinmoonlight79 also mine and best story too! is a shame i cant convince other ff fans to try it...they still say SE died with FF10 XD
Look at those tribal neanderthals flopping around, veins bursting because asmon watches a ff comp. lol
It's sad to see.
its literally the same when he plays lost ark or wow or any mmo. andys from another mmo cry in chat its just what his chat is now.
also the message the op commented is so mentally unstable its crazy, seems like such weird hatred
@@Nightsu "...what his chat is now" implying it wasnt like this before. His chat has always been like this, it's just that Asmon play more games than just WoW, so we can see the chat is bitching more.
...You don't watch a lot of FF streams do you? Because this emote with the wings is always posted in chat when that song is played in the background. Has nothing to do with the fact thas Asmon is watching an FF video but because of the music.
@@SisterTheohild uh.. No one talking about AngelThump emote at all tho? We were talking about those chats that went "it looks like shit" "wtf is this shit" "I wasted 7 minutes for this"
asmon really need to play nioh 1-2
“Babe wake up Asmon is looking at FFXIV content”
I recognize ultimate weapons as prestige weapons, but I personally dont like any of them (of any ultimate) because I feel like they are all way too overdesigned. :P
Fuck, if i'll ever come back to this game imma need that RDM rapier, the bow and the scythe, they're fucking GLORIOUS.
can't wait to see Asmon take on this fight, it might take a couple months it might take literally years either way whenever he gets to it I'll watch
I think the ultimate alexander weps looked better
Asmon showing the DNC weapons in the preview cause he secretly likes them ; )
ah but in seriousness, this ultimate is so good.
[Asmon thinks that's it at the 3rd phase]
Heh, spoken like someone who hasn't done an Ultimate yet. At a minimum, even if you're stingy with the counting, this is gonna be 4 phases, regardless of how one counts the initial Prologue, the Eyes intermission, and the Spear intermission. Thordan + Knights, Nidstinien, Thordan + enthralled dragons, and Nidhogg + shackled Hraesvelgr are at a minimum 4 major phases. I'm curious to see what the full timestamp comes out to for the early kills because I feel like this is longer than UCOB.
cringe
Everything is longer than ucob, shit is short as fuck. In party finder we had bahamut prime down to 35% right before ads lmao. That line of "hasn't done an ultimate yet" is so fucking facepalm worthy. No shit he hasn't done one yet, he never beat Stormblood.
@@vaderglenn UCoB is actually the longest ultimate in terms of fight length. Yes, the dps check is a joke now if everyone survives but in terms of length UCoB beats out the other ultimates. We still have yet to see how long DSR is though.
Loser
imagine if uther n jaina didn't abandon arthas. if garrosh succeed. this raid is awesome.
Surprising he’s reacting to this considering how anti-FFXIV his mods seem to be and deleting any FFXIV-related content off his subreddit 🤔🤔🤔
He already mentioned some time ago that they used to do that cuz FF14 was just a small fraction of the community, but were seemingly flooding the entire reddit with FF14 specific content which almost nobody understood.
the FF andies on the reddit are incredibly annoying that's why.
While I'll never ever EVER play ultimate (no time, no skill and no patience for it), I must say that saving best waifu is one of the most effective means of motivating the ff playerbase.
This is an epic fight in the best MMO
3:14 At the end of the day. He gets food to put on his table.
Asmon be like “I don’t like the Sage one cuz it gives me ptsd
Can't wait for Rich CBT clear of DSR with all the boys xD
Honestly, I don’t see Rich being carried in this Ultimate anytime soon
@@carbonide1290 too many dps checks back to back. Rich will have to wait till 8.0 to get his carry kekw
12:32 That is the best physical ranged dps for DSR ultimate. xD And you need a ranged physical dps for the 1% party dmg buff. : )
And it is also the class I'm playing now. xD I played machinist but then swapped to dnc. Dps check is a lot easier and faster.
I think the ultimate weapons look much better without the particle effects, or maybe if they were toned down to about half
That would just be the base weapons from the extremes
3:12 god I love Xenos xD
I'd like to see this alternate timeline story fleshed out into a playable questline so we can all experience it.
I wonder if he's seen the PvP mounts/armor and the weapon design winners
Cried a manly tear at that phase 4.
I remember seeing a photo of Niddhog and Hraesvelgr together. Maybe the white dragon will be one of the bosses?
that's phase 6, tps and one jp group are the only ones who have currently reached it, neither stream
Can't wait to see you get through Shadowbringers some day
I’m new to the channel. Why does he not play FF anymore? Or does he just not make vids playing it anymore? I loved watching his old vids on it
Made it to phase 2 got absolutely rekted trying again today
SO WHATS GOINFGF ON IN FF14 DID THEY REWORK THE FIGHT BECAUSE IVE DONE THIS FIGHT BEFORE
ON ULTIMATE THE KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND
I've always wondered this: how, if nobody's cleared the ultimate yet, is there a video of all the weapons already?
I believe it's shown through mods! Since the weapon designs are already in the game and you can do a lot of changes with gshade, you can probably pop these onto your character as well
somethings i love about FF14 , boss rooms are so original and amazing and beautifull and unmatched ! damn i love the vibrant colors they're so nice
Suuuure, all the wonderful circles and squares and... that is pretty much it. I really like the FF raids, but the boss rooms are super boring and unimaginative and a point of criticism that is often raised. Unmatched? Not really, no.
@@HalfLifeHalfDead idk bruh I've seen so many areans that look plain as fuck. Ff14 got some pretty dope ones, especially their attention to detail for the arena markings themselve. But it's pretty subjective so guess me saying that is pointless lol.
im being sarcastic, FF14 visuals give me Eye cancer . i'm amazed how many liked my comment lul
@@HalfLifeHalfDead yeah, although FFXIV’s setpieces are visually stunning, it really is a shame we don’t see different arena shapes more often, or any verticality period. Though I understand they don’t do the latter anymore because of terrain weirdness back in coils. It isn’t so much the shape as it is the arena not feeling “alive”, per se
Arenas in stuff like Ozma/TG Cid, the Nier raids, and plenty of alliance raids in general feel “alive”. The designers probably have more freedom here since alliance raids are casual 24-man content. Still, it’d be fun to see a *little* bit of alliance wackiness in 4 and 8-mans
And obviously, fights should care more about mechanics than shapes, but it’s nice to see the arenas used AS mechanics. Titan, Sophia, Diamond Weapon, E9S, P2S, etc. etc.
The FFXIV team CAN and DOES make unique rooms, but it seems their focus is on pure mechs for most fights
@@mahdibaazaoui980 people liked your comment because people agree FFXIV looks nice, not ironically. When there’s not too many effects the rooms generally look very pretty
the weapons were lack luster. everything looked pretty much the same.
wish they went with different styles rather than just sticking that magical circle right in the middle with the shine and light.
OK person that never will get such weapon.
This is literally the case with every ultimate in the game, but aight.
@@semiramisubw4864 what does criticizing how the weapons look have to do with whether a person being able to clear the content or not? You criticize any aspect of FF and the people sperg out

It definitely makes things a lot easier but idk if I’d call it “cheating”
In WoW everyone uses triggers and nowadays the fights are made with triggers in mind.
Triggers only make a fight easier for people who are coming to it later and using other peoples triggers. That's not possible during wf race especially if you're in the lead
This Heavensward andy didn't know shits going on on the screen man its so funny XD

Nope
4:30 Revenge of the Horde: 999999999
Now its asmons turn whenever he gets back to ffxiv
best mmo boss ever
Did Asmon said when he will return on FF14?
so... is it possible to save haurchefant the first time? or is it only possible the second time?
Only the 2nd time need to use a limit break
You can't save him the first time because you need a tank LB3. And it only unlocks after he dies. So when the time loop happens, you will have LB3.
Also the first phase you cannot affect him with lb at all, you just have to let him die.
Basically you can't, the guy whom used that spear is the same one that is fully charged and wipes your team if you don't lower his hp fast enough.
can’t imagine the time asmon progging ultimate with randoms
IF he comes back
You don't want to see that.
WHY IS THE SHIELD SO SMALL :(
Ultimate is great, but this has to be the worst video to watch to see it.
the fight is cool but weapons suck
I was playing wotlk on a fresh pvt server and raiding was such a waste of time. In 2hrs we just killed 2 fking bosses which were super easy (naxx) and we wiped only a few times but still time wasted was too much. Compared to ffxiv wow wastes so much time
The shields are really bad in this game, wish there were huge shields. Also asmon should see seiru(idk the name) sword for dk its so cool, Looks like made from dragons backbone
So this is boss rushes but difficult
I love asmons ffxiv content such a joy
wait I thought asmond quit ffxiv or smth?
Is Asmon gonna keep reacting to shit he doesn't play? Lmao. Fight is crazy.
