What an excellent video. Had these lights on and off for 3 years, about to sell it so followed this video. £12 for some wire and spray off Amazon, 3 hours later, one puff of soot and running like a dream with not a single warning light in sight. I was looking at budgeting £500-1500 for everything from a DPF clean to having it replaced. Super pleased
Thanks Fella. Had this problem intermittently for the last year? But this last week it’s happened every drive. All research had pointed to wiring loom issues, and I had a quote of over £2000 to replace the loom. You’re spot on, perseverance is key, I also used some egr cleaner as I hit a lot of resistance after about 9 inches. Sprayed some in and left it to soak for 20 mins. A further 5 mins or so of drilling the wire and hey presto, sudden release and the wire pushed in about 18 inches without any resistance. Started her up and an almighty plume of soot flew out! Revving helped clear it, and once put back together, all warning lights have disappeared. Thanks again, stay fresh.
Thank you soooo much!!! I had exactly the same error after my Qashqai's turbo broke down. Even the auto electricians could not find and fix the problem. My car is working 100% again thanks to your video!! Thank you again!!
Amazing. I have had this issue for years, and my local garage has had the car 3 times to try and sort it, and better part of £1k later still not resolved. Followed your vid, and badaboom, sorted first time
Just done this on my 1.6 diesel j11 and my car is like new again. I used a thin plastic pipe to keep the cable from bending. Each time it went down the metal pipe, i withdrew the plastic pipe and cut it down a bit and then did it again until the cable suddenly pushed through. My wife is happy now and a happy wife is a happy life.😊
My dad did this to my 2014 Qashqai last week & it seems to have solved the problem. Thank you very much for sharing, you’ve probably saved me a fortune👍🏼
Worked a treat although I had to take the pipe completely off which is a nasty job in itself ,but once of and unblocked the pipe cas it was solid ,all the warning lights have gone, I soaked the pipe in thinners for an hour then did the wire cable trick ,thankyou so much
Had all the usual lights on my dash relating to this blocked pipe so purchased a brake cable and a tin of Wynns EGR spray. I cut the cable to 350mm length and using a drill started to insert the cable. I eventually hit the blockage which is normally 2/3rds down the pipe, after spraying some EGR cleaning fluid and letting it sit I started again but still would not budge. I had a idea to slightly splay the end of the cable so it would cut through the blockage and this worked a treat, push the cable as far as it would go and using the drill slowly force the end of the cable into the blockage and pull it out, I could see the end was now full of wet soot so continued this for a while removing the cable and cleaning off the end each time. Eventually the cable passed through the blockage and using the drill I pushed and pulled the cable in and out to clean the whole pipe. I then got into my Car and started the engine and revved up I immediately saw exhaust fumes blowing out of the pipe. After putting the Sensor back on and clearing the fault codes all seems good so only time will tell.
Thanks for taking the time to post this fix. Had the same issue on my 2014 pulsar. Nissan wanted 12hr labour charge to replace the £25 replacement pipe which would have been a £1500 repair bill. You saved me and fortune and I added wynns dpf treatment in the tank to just help things clear up. Car back to normal and MIL light went out after 20 minute drive.
Nice one! It is such a simple fix and garages will charge silly money just to diagnose it. Yes I agree changing the pipe would be best but if you can clear it for a fraction of the cost then go for it!
@@TheQashqaiGuy hi there, I had the same problem in the past and repaired it in exactly the same way. Then it happened again today. I have repeated the repair but without good result ......
Done this again today (didn't fully clear it last time) TOP TIPS: ) The rubber tube can be "stuck" to the sensor and the sensor will be hard to remove the first time - be gentle, and twist a bit - use wd40 sparingly to loosen if need be. ) Put a bit of wd40 down the hole while your drilling with the cable - it really does loosen up the carbon. going for a small drive , or running the engine for a bit while it's blocked and then leaving it for a few hours helps the wd40 to disolve the carbon, (rev the engine a bit when cleared to remove the WD40 from the pipe and avoid soiling the sensor once it's reinstalled) - this can be messy! ) KEEP DRILLING up and down with the cable after it has unblocked - to remove soot from the walls of the pipe - otherwise you'll be doing it again within a year. ) Don't use too long a cable - the tube leads close to the turbo, and bits of the cable can break off from the tip - not something you want near the high-tolerance impellers! ) use the cable sheath as a guide, cutting off small lengths to get deaper - it helps to avoid the looping of the cable while you are drilling (keep loose cable short) lastly, if it re-occurs, DON'T leave it! its a temporary error code to begin with, but if it re-occurs too many times, it will become permanant until you fix and clear the codes (which means mechanic or OBDII reader - another investment) Good luck!
Getting the exact same warning lights with the battery alert in red also... Giving this a try tomorrow. Already ran a full scan with a battery trickle charge unit and it found no faults, so I hope this fixes the issue! Otherwise I'm going to assume a faulty alternator. Let's see :)
@@Jack-mw9zl thanks for the reply! Any advice on how to go about doing so? Very new with all of this, and as I just had a major fault (manufacturing) with the X-Trail that cost me an arm and a leg, trying to work through this tip but struggling to get to said part right now. Thanks a lot!
@@danieleq7178 hi mate, I have never touched a car in my life and I'm useless at DIY so believe me when I say it's possible. You will need to buy a bike gear cable which are about 3 quid on Amazon. You'll also need a drill, the bolt on the back of the bracket is hard to get to so having some small spanners/small adjustable spanner or if you have them a socket set to get it off. From there it gives you plenty of room to get at the clip. The clip can be leavered out with a screwdriver and the clip that sits around the hose you can lower down by squeezing it with some flat pliers or a set of grips. From there mate I would try pushing the cable down the hole until it stops and then pull it back out with your finger on it. That will give you a measurement of how far the blockage is, I then cut a few lengths of the cable at different lengths, (getting longer as you gradually get deeper with the drill) this allowed me to keep going deeper without kinking the cable and getting enough pressure on the crap down in the hose. Use a drill with the cable as shown by the gentleman in the video, I nearly gave up to be honest but kept going. You'll know you've cleared it when all the crap and smoke come spilling out of it. You may need someones diagnostic tool to clear the fault once you've done it. If you have a mechanic friend who can do that or buy a cheap one off the internet. Good luck
Excellent video and good explanation thank you. I think if you own one of these cars with this sensor on it may be worth doing the wire trick every service to keep it clear save having to clear a completely blocked tube .
I checked mine last week with a piece of paper over the pipe and it was fluttering the paper so mine is ok at 93K miles but my EGR valve was extremely carboned up and needed removing and cleaning, so I think I will do this cleaning the pipe with brake cable trick just to improve the flow as much as it’s possible (preventative maintenance).
I had a 1.9 dci Renault in my grand vitara and it was great although it had turbo pipe issues at the end but had it 3 n half years and was very reliable.
Hello, another great video that helps out a lot of people great work, i also now have these lights come up, question: do you put the wire in using a drill while the engine is on or off? You used the egr cleaner how long did you leave it before doing the wire thing? Also would you recommend cleaning the egr valve at the same time am guessing that also would be covered in the same stuff? Last question this video was posted some time ago have you had the issue come up again since? Thank you hope i hear from you soon.
Hi, put the wire in the drill and do it with engine off as you could get burnt from the sudden hot gas release. Get cleaner deffo helped and I didn't get the issue back in the next 2 years after doing this
Great video. Have the exact same problem. Will tackle it when I get some time. Then the Nissan is getting traded in. Have had nothing but stuff going wrong with it the last six months.
Cracking video, thanks for taking the time to post. I believe I had this issue and solved it running a few DPF cleans by adding additive to my fuel. I guess if the pipe is blocked mildly the cleaner manages to get the carbon out. If it’s too bad the the wire method is the only option. Thanks again!
No problem Liam, I believe it's the design of the pipe that's the issue. The kink in it causes the carbon build up over time. I don't understand why the sensor needs to be on the top of the engine really!
Hi Liam. Could I ask what additive did you use or did you just get a different fuel (e.g. Shell V-Power)? I'm getting the same issue but wanted to try your option first rather than the pipe solution.
@@terryvaughan6660 Hi Terry. It was Wynns DPF cleaner, they also do an Extreme Diesel cleaner. It wouldn’t do any harm to give it a blast. I have 2 Qashqai’s of the same age/model etc. I’ve had this issue with both. The DPF cleaner fixed one but not the other. I think it boils down to how badly the pipe is blocked.
@@liamhenning Thanks Liam. I've just ordered some Wynn's DPF cleaner to be collected tonight. I'm thinking I'm also going to put some Shell V5 fuel in the tank before adding the Wynn's then take the car for a run up the nearest motorway. I hope I'll be lucky and that will resolve the issue for me.
Yeah I'd highly recommend taking that sensor off and seeing if air is coming out with the engine running before having Nissan or a garage look at it. Unless your car is still under a warranty obviously.
Hi Buddy NEED HELP!! stunning video I’m a big fan of your videos I loved your ambient lighting installation video. I just have 1 problem with mine. I have the parking flashing break on mine. The parking break works. No problem what so ever but the orange triangle stays on constantly and the parking exclamation mark in red flashes non stop same with the (P) BUTTON it’s always flashing red however it all works. @The Qashqai Guy I tried the cable trick for several hours but it wasn't going in any deeper. When I pulled it out at some point I realised the cable might have snapped 😳 just the bit to the 90° elbow. Any ideas how to fish it out without removing the whole pipe 🤔.
Hi, please, where can I get the 3 pin plug that's connected to pipe, mine has a wire cut off at the very tip, so it is difficult to join back. Kindly point out where I can get a replacement 3 pin plug for nissan qashqai 2014. Thank you.
Thanks so much for this. This has to be my fault, but no matter how much I try I can’t get the gear cable round the second bend in the pipe, I am using a drill too. Is there something I am not doing right or any tips to get it through you can share please?
Hi, another person tried doubling up the cable by bending it in half, it made it stronger and less likely to fray. It did take me many attempts so other then above, all I can say is persevere - you will get there!
Hi, I have got 1.6 qashqai 18 plate ,got same problem tried and opened it but looks different and couldn't find this any ideas or suggestions please. Thanks
Hi, I'm pretty useless at mechanicking but need to try this! My wife's dashboard looks like Blackpool Illuminations and I'm determined to give it my best shot. Two questions - do you have the engine running whilst putting the wire down? You mention the drill method - please can you explain what I do - how fast/ slow etc. Fingers crossed! Thanks again, there's light at the end of the tunnel thanks to your video - which will make a nice change from lights everywhere else!!!
Hi, drill with the engine on so you know when you've got through it. As for how, put around half a metre of brake wire into the drill chuck and work your way down whilst "drilling"
I've got this issue on my 2016 nv200 and the pipe is a pig to try and reach the union bolt to remove it! It's shorter than the qashqai pipe but it's jammed solid!
How do you remove the bolt holding the clip rhat you already removed in the video? I can see it, but it won't budge, and it's in a tight spot, so the ratchet won't fit.
Thanks done this today very nearly gave up didn’t think it was going to work but one cr250 clutch cable and a throttle cable from a pit bike later the job is done! 🤣👍🏻
Hi, how did you get the bracket off is it just the one screw on the back. My smallest screweriver was too big for it so will get a 7mm one for it. Is that the only screw to undo?
Thanks for this. I'm not sure I went the full distance? How much cable wire should be cut or go through? I tried this and had little success. I had wd40 foaming up then I'm guessing I opened it up as nothing was coming back up.
@@TheQashqaiGuy That sounds about right! Does it hit a hard end? I just wasn't sure if it was to continue. The error codes are reporting both p0470 and p0471, so I'm pretty certain it's this or the sensor itself.
Hi, I have got same issue- chassis control system fault, stop/start fault and got lights on. I have cleaned the pipe, can see fumes coming out when I press pedal. So definitely unblocked. Replaced the sensor too. all lights there still. Any more ideas on this ??
Have christmas tree on my dash including battery light. New alternator and battery fitted but lights still there. Do you reckon this might be the issue? Its QQ 1.6dci diesel 2015, automatic. Thanks!
Hi can I also ask if the problem isn’t here as I’ve now unblocked it could it also be the bottom sensor into the lower DPF blocked fault code TC BOOST SENSOR P012b ?mine get a red warning light and goes into limp mode ? Cheers tim
Good day i have had this issue with chassis control system fault and stop start fault pop up all at once and then all sorts of lights on my dash comes on. Have taken my car in to our garage about 4 times then it goes away for about 2 months and then bam. Was thinking of selling as it now annoys the hek out of me but the car is so economical. I live in SA and have a 2015 1.5 DCI will my car be the same as this?
@@TheQashqaiGuy Thanks, If i get you right is that there must be exhaust gases coming out from that tube, if not it means it is blocked, therefore the sensor has no data to provide to the ecu which consequently cuts engine power
Hi I have just cleared the pipe and its now letting fumes through again how do i clear the chassis control fault light on the dash thank you so much for your help🙂
@@TheQashqaiGuy yes such a relief stop start still flashing will it need resetting as well mine code reader wont do it garage having a look later to see if they can turn them off🙂 thanks again
Hi, I have just got the same lights coming on with my diesel dualis, will it be the same problem? Do you know if the sensor is the same and removal and cleaning is the same procedure? Tq.
@@TheQashqaiGuy Got it all sorted now, paid closer attention to your video and it all worked out as you described, much appreciated and greatful for the video.
Exactly the same issue on my 2014 diesel qashqai this weekend. Going to brave your solution today. How will we know if it’s worked? Do the errors clear or will it need a reset? Thx
Oops! Did you loose a lot of it? Next suggestion would be to remove the pipe from the manifold. Probably a garage job unless your confident enough to try it.
@@TheQashqaiGuy about 3-4 inches. Yep we looked at removing it as a possibility but its beyond us. Garage tomorrow and a red-faced confession! BUT at least we know to tell them to ignore the actual faults and sort the pipe/sensor (and potentially check the battery as a potential issue and brake fluid levels, both of which seem to be mentioned a lot in the forums too)
Yes to be fair, as long as your garage actually listen to you and act on what you say, you shouldn't be charged much at all, only Labour. Plus they'll have much more appropriate tools to clear it. If they can remove it, a simple blast of compressed air will sort it. Let me know how you get on :)
Hi can you please help me i have a Nissan juke year 2012 and the red engine light came on a few days ago could you please tell me is this a serious issue? i rang a mechanic and he said he thinks i need a new engine belt but he never even looked at the car, I'm not sure if it does need a new engine belt because i don't have the history of the car and it costs 500 pounds i just want a 2nd opinion and my uncle said your very good
Great video thanks. Just following it through now - is there any tips if I can’t get the silver part removed from the black tube (2:48) please? Have removed all the bits I’m supposed to - using most my power but can’t get it out… is it just a case of more muscle needed?
@@TheQashqaiGuy yep, I’ve removed the clip (got it jammed open so it’s not putting any pressure on the pipe as I try to pull it out). Does the engine need to be running for this to come out?
Hi having this issue currently and I removed the connection u did in the video. Mine seemed like there was diesel resting in it. This normal? Haven't tried the cable yet as I presume not blocked if diesel there?
That's strange, see what happens with the engine running. There should be air coming out of it. (obviously have a cloth around it in case of spillage )
@@TheQashqaiGuy thanks for the reply. Just watched another video and I think it was the wrong one I was looking at.. 🤦♂️ How far down should u go with the cable?
As far as you can. I must stress though it's a hard job, you must persevere until air (and a lot of soot!) comes out. You could ask a local garage to do the job as I reckon a blast of air could do the job.
Thanks for the guide, I tried for a long time to clear it but after a good hour or so of trying to clear it I had no joy. Still at least I know what's wrong with it.
Hello very useful video I have a similar issue on my renault megane but im having some trouble now the original sensor i have its a three in line pin but i want to put a new sensor and now is the problem the old sensor was replaced they dont sell them now the one they sell 8s the same as the Nissam Qashqai but my plug is diferent its any way to know the number part of yours that way i can buy a new plug and fit the new sensor Thank you in advance
I would assume the plug is a standard 8 pin plug. I'd be surprised if you changed a 3 pin for a 8 pin that it would work though??? Probably best to find a scrap yard or check ebay?
Got a 2014 1.6 Diesel Qashqai it's got ABS, Tyre Pressure Warning Light, Engine Management and the front end emergency break light you talk about on the right clock. Any idea what it could be or if it could possibly be the same sensor? All came on suddenly. Cheers
I forgot to mention, a diagnostic machine has been plugged in to check for faults and nothing is coming up. So you mentioned to reset it, how would that work ?
Hi Brett. I'd get your battery tested as that's also something that causes similar lights to pop up. Most main stream garages do this free of charge. By reset I mean with a fault code reader to clear the faults.
@@TheQashqaiGuy really appreciate the reply. I'll have a look at what the nav system version is and give ebay a look. Also I was on to Nissan and they are charging a whopper for a new key. Any tips on that side of things?! Cheers
Yeah they will. If you have a local smart key company, give them a call as they should be cheaper. It isn't a cheap job though so prices will be steep.
Good morning these exact lights came on my car. Can i ask if yours was still safe to drive. We are away for the weekend and simply worried to use the car. Only purchased 3 days ago 😔 can i get home without cleaning the pipe?
Hey guys! Same exact problem on a 2014, dashboard looked like a christmas tree. I will be trying this this weekend. Question, could we theoreticaly throw in some soot cleaner down that little pipe, and have that stuff dissolved instead of going in with the wire: or can we do both?? Does anyone know where that pipe leads to?? Many thanks awesome video!!
@@TheQashqaiGuy Thank you for the reply!! Just a mention, loaded a standard 2.5 ml syringe with carb cleaner and injected it into the sensor itself, did this 2-3 times. Couldnt believe my eyes how much gung was actually in the sensor!! Thanks again for all your help, and awesome video!!
With this fault does it cause rough running, like only firing on three cylinders ? I will try the cleaning issue of the pipe and see if clears the fault
Dan Smith I’ve had to take it to a garage to be repaired, they have just called to say it’s no2 injector which needs replacing, normal vehicles run from 1 2 3 4 from the cam belt end with a dci engine it runs from 4 3 2 1, which might be useful for other followers to remember.
@@fredgreen4773 I have had the exact same issue as you! Car was running fine and bam it seemed as though we lost a cylinder. The errors on the dash are quite similar to this video. I was getting P0201 and P0202 injector circuit faults from OBD connected to the computer. The dealership replaced both injectors for around £500. Unfortunately for me, the problem happened again right at the start of lockdown, so we were left without a car. This time the problem was with cylinder 4 injector. Now here's the good news. This video (ua-cam.com/video/oJJafugyrAQ/v-deo.html) shows a simple procedure that you can do for yourself. Basically the connections to the computer can get fouled up and disconnecting them and spraying with electrical contact cleaner (with battery disconnected) has fixed the problem for me. Time will tell if it was the actual culprit, but the system is reset and is running fine. Tomorrow I am going to check the exhaust tube as described in this video.
Mate you are amazing! Had this come up Monday night going around M25 back to Nottingham. Every time I hit a hill it would come up. Just spent last 2 hours with a cable and drill and some EGR cleaner 😂, Cleared codes just took it for a good boot and all running fine! Thanks mate your a star! 2015 Tekna Qashqai
Mine is Qashqai 1.6 DCi, seems I cannot find that sensor, or it is in different location? I got the same problem this morning, after driving in snowy yesterday. It was showing "Front radar sensor error" when driving, I think because of covering in snow. But this morning, it showing "Chasis control system fault", then "Start/stop error". After several engine on/off, now all those error are disappear, but the light Engine check still steady showing on dashboard.
Found your channel through this video and watched loads since. Finally got round to attempting this today but I can only loosen the round clip holding the pipe. How did you remove it without the filter being out first?
Ok, really feels like something is going to break. I have a 2014 tekna too but you seem to have more room around the pipe. When I tried to move the clip down I could only move it about 1 Inch. Will try again sometime.
I've woke up this morning my and quashqui is showing the same problem plus a key system fault, but it won't start at all, doesn't even try to start do you think this will help get it running again? Thanks
I had to get it toed to nissan in the end, it was the big fan at the front of the car under the bonnet that cools the engine, it was slowly nipping the wires for the main computer system.
@@TheQashqaiGuy Thanks M8 that’s cleared that up for me I just need to work out what going on with my car without a massive garage bill. Thanks again I really appreciate it.

I have the same problem with my car at the moment, unfortunately its already with Nissan dealer and they have already quoted me £600 to open up the engine. Its a 2015 plate and in 2017i had a similar problem but it was still under manufacturer warranty. I am worried about the end bill. What's your advice, my car has only done 34000 miles and just been fully paid for. I was hoping it w give me 4more years.
I'd follow my instructions in the video to test to see if air is coming out the pipe. If not fix as I say. Nissan will charge you silly money even if they know the problem
I have a similar problem on my 2019 xtrail 1.6dci. Amongst these similar issues I am also experiencing oil pressure low error. It's intermittent and when it does come on, the car refuses to start. No swing at all. I have changed the battery. This evening when it refused to start there was like a humming noise coming from the engine bay whilst the car was off. Please advise
Hi Dan, I've got a 14 plate 1.2 petrol and I've got a warning triangle on and it doesn't seem to go into stop/start mode very often, very sporadic, could this be the same ,or maybe a new sensor, cheers love the video's, Terry.
Get a normal steel wire or any type of metal wire. If it's very thin, you can take a long part of the cable, bend it over itself, connect it to a drill and spin the two cables around eachother. Kinda like how this guy twists these cables: ua-cam.com/video/uTJhrTTl-EE/v-deo.html
My wife’s car does the same, however when I put my foot down in it along the motorway it clears, only to return the next day. Do you think this could be the same problem? Thanks
It could be yeah, maybe putting your foot down pushes a bit of air to the sensor to clear it. I'd suggest removing the sensor with the engine running to see if any air is coming out. If not, this is your problem. Mine is making a few appearances again so may get an updated video done soon.
Great video - thanks so much for sharing this, I seem to be having the same issue as so many others in this chat - can I just ask how much cable needs to get down the pipe (roughly) - thanks 👍
It's a while back that I did it. I'd guess about 10 inches? You'll go so far and it'll get stuck at the corner part. Main thing is you'll know you've cleared it when a puff of soot comes out with the engine running!
Cheers Dan - thanks again for video it seems to have fixed my issue! Your right the drill method worked best - I used a slightly thinner bike gear cable + plastic tube to guide it down the hose which worked a treat! Thanks again 👍
This has just happened to me. I am 3 hours from home and was wondering if i have to take it straight in or would it be possible to drive it the 150 miles back?
No probs bud It's when you purposefully make the engine run hot, so maybe on motorway at 70, leave it in 5th or even 4th for a few miles. Give it a Google and I'm sure they'll be a good guide.
I tried this last night but it still seems that my alerts on the dash keep on coming on. The strange thing is the car is fine until I accelerate and raise my Ref counter then all the alerts come on for Start and Stop and Chassis control system fault. Is there anything else I can try?
my car xtrail t32 lot harder to work on , same fault, but i bet your EGR valve will need cleaning and intake manifold , i will try an oil catch can , and could be a fuse
Does this also apply for the 1.2 digt petrol engine one, i have an automatic and start stop function is faulting now. Had battery exchanged durring warranty , i can not believe battery is bad again. But who knows. Also i notice when cold engine revs are not stable like 100 150rpm going upp down but does not stall drives totaly OK, realy strange these shit problems. I bought nissan to not have shit problems but it seems there is sheete here to dammet.
I have had the same start stop problem with my 1.2 digt engine. Also replaced battery once and same happens again. If i charge the battery with wall chrager the problem goes away and then comes back after couple of months. I think nissans smart (stupid) charge system is causing this by not charging battery to full. I am so disappointed with qashqai's bad quality and when I get rid of this I will never again buy Nissan.

What spray did you use?
Thank you again!!
did it happen again ??
My wife is happy now and a happy wife is a happy life.😊
Hello did the fault clear it self at all
My dad did this to my 2014 Qashqai last week & it seems to have solved the problem. Thank you very much for sharing, you’ve probably saved me a fortune👍🏼
No problems at all.
Worked a treat although I had to take the pipe completely off which is a nasty job in itself ,but once of and unblocked the pipe cas it was solid ,all the warning lights have gone, I soaked the pipe in thinners for an hour then did the wire cable trick ,thankyou so much
No problem. Yeah I've heard removing the pipe can end up breaking it so tried to avoid doing that.
Can I ask the type of pipe that's needed? I'm another with the same issue.
@@BillyBufter a bicycle brake wire will do the trick. Check the link in the description to the type on amazon.
Thanks
@@TheQashqaiGuy hi there, I had the same problem in the past and repaired it in exactly the same way. Then it happened again today. I have repeated the repair but without good result ......
Get a battery test done, could be that
Had this issue and the garage replaced I’m thinking the pipe under warranty today videos are class mate
Thanks William. Glad to be of assistance
Done this again today (didn't fully clear it last time)
TOP TIPS:
) The rubber tube can be "stuck" to the sensor and the sensor will be hard to remove the first time - be gentle, and twist a bit - use wd40 sparingly to loosen if need be.
) Put a bit of wd40 down the hole while your drilling with the cable - it really does loosen up the carbon. going for a small drive , or running the engine for a bit while it's blocked and then leaving it for a few hours helps the wd40 to disolve the carbon, (rev the engine a bit when cleared to remove the WD40 from the pipe and avoid soiling the sensor once it's reinstalled) - this can be messy!
) KEEP DRILLING up and down with the cable after it has unblocked - to remove soot from the walls of the pipe - otherwise you'll be doing it again within a year.
) Don't use too long a cable - the tube leads close to the turbo, and bits of the cable can break off from the tip - not something you want near the high-tolerance impellers!
) use the cable sheath as a guide, cutting off small lengths to get deaper - it helps to avoid the looping of the cable while you are drilling (keep loose cable short)
lastly, if it re-occurs, DON'T leave it! its a temporary error code to begin with, but if it re-occurs too many times, it will become permanant until you fix and clear the codes (which means mechanic or OBDII reader - another investment)
Good luck!
Thanks my guy, did this last friday and it worked!
Top channel and subscribed! Not many guys take the time out like you do to reply to us all!
Thanks mate
Getting the exact same warning lights with the battery alert in red also... Giving this a try tomorrow. Already ran a full scan with a battery trickle charge unit and it found no faults, so I hope this fixes the issue! Otherwise I'm going to assume a faulty alternator. Let's see :)
Attempting the same on X-Trail 2015 but part is insanely tricky to get to... Really struggling to get initial clip off
It's very fiddly. I found after I took the bracket off it made it alot easier to get to.
Good luck
Did it work?
Excellent video and good explanation thank you.
I think if you own one of these cars with this sensor on it may be worth doing the wire trick every service to keep it clear save having to clear a completely blocked tube .
Cheers Dan our xtrail started doing this today after a long trip to Cornwall I will give this a go when I get back
Same engine?
@@TheQashqaiGuy this is the 1.6 dci but the errors you describe are the same, dash completely lights up so I'll have a look later
Ok, worth getting the battery tested too
@@TheQashqaiGuy yeah I did that in December when the master cylinder failed... Urgh what an expensive job that was..
Get cleaner deffo helped and I didn't get the issue back in the next 2 years after doing this
@@TheQashqaiGuy tha k you for your reply, so did the issue happen again? Did you do the same or anything different?
@Hiteshdattani1990 no didn't happen again
@@TheQashqaiGuy thank you for taking your time to reply.
@@terryvaughan6660 Good luck mate! Let us know if you get sorted!
Great vid how much just to replace the pipe?
Not sure bud. Think the issue is the nut that holds it to the exhaust manifold can snap which leads to big bucks repair
Great video. Got my wife's car sorted, thankyou
Brilliant, glad it helped!
Great video. I seem to be having a similar issue. Nissan agent wants to replace the electronic control module though.
Yeah I'd highly recommend taking that sensor off and seeing if air is coming out with the engine running before having Nissan or a garage look at it.
Unless your car is still under a warranty obviously.

@The Qashqai Guy I tried the cable trick for several hours but it wasn't going in any deeper. When I pulled it out at some point I realised the cable might have snapped 😳 just the bit to the 90° elbow. Any ideas how to fish it out without removing the whole pipe 🤔.
My wife has a 2015 Qashqai 2 with these exact issues, where would that tube be located on her engine?
Hi, please, where can I get the 3 pin plug that's connected to pipe, mine has a wire cut off at the very tip, so it is difficult to join back. Kindly point out where I can get a replacement 3 pin plug for nissan qashqai 2014.
Thank you.
Hi great video, have the same problem . Will try this fix. Do you need the engine running when doing this fix ? So air will flow from the pipe ?
I'd suggest trying to clear it with the engine off at first, and yes air should woosh out of it when it's clear.
Hi, do you happen to know what DTC fault codes you can expect to get with this issue? Thanks very much!
I've forgotten the exact number but it reads pressure sensor fault
@@TheQashqaiGuy ok, thanks very much. Got an "injector open circuit" fault and trying to figure out if related. Thanks.

Hi great video but did the fault clear is self
How do you remove the bolt holding the clip rhat you already removed in the video? I can see it, but it won't budge, and it's in a tight spot, so the ratchet won't fit.
The 10mm one?

Yes just that one
Thanks for all your help!

Thanks for this. I'm not sure I went the full distance? How much cable wire should be cut or go through? I tried this and had little success. I had wd40 foaming up then I'm guessing I opened it up as nothing was coming back up.
It does have to go quite far, can't remember exactly how much but I'd say around 10 inches
@@TheQashqaiGuy That sounds about right! Does it hit a hard end? I just wasn't sure if it was to continue. The error codes are reporting both p0470 and p0471, so I'm pretty certain it's this or the sensor itself.
It has a couple of tight elbow turns to take which is what takes so long. If there's no air coming out of it then it's deffo blocked

Hello, I imported this car from the UK and have a similar issue, is it possible to change the whole pipe together with the sensor?
Yes you can do.
@@TheQashqaiGuy Thanks, If i get you right is that there must be exhaust gases coming out from that tube, if not it means it is blocked, therefore the sensor has no data to provide to the ecu which consequently cuts engine power

Exactly the same issue on my 2014 diesel qashqai this weekend. Going to brave your solution today. How will we know if it’s worked? Do the errors clear or will it need a reset? Thx
Hi Angela, it'll need a reset with an obd scanner. You can pick them up for under £20 from motor factors. Check eurocarparts for a decent price.
Tried to clear today-all going well until the brake cable sheared off inside-we’l and truly buggered now
The start stop still flashing aswell will this need turning off as-well cheers

With this fault does it cause rough running, like only firing on three cylinders ? I will try the cleaning issue of the pipe and see if clears the fault
It didn't in my case but I suppose it could do as the sensor won't be getting the correct readings so could change something else in the running.

Ok, really feels like something is going to break. I have a 2014 tekna too but you seem to have more room around the pipe. When I tried to move the clip down I could only move it about 1 Inch. Will try again sometime.
Have you removed the bracket holding it in place?
@@TheQashqaiGuy yeah.
Does this method also apply for petrol models. I have a 1.2 2016 qashqai
I don't think so
Hi how I can do it in my 2015 1.2 petrol version.? Because I couldn't found it there 😰
This issue doesn't affect any other but the 1.5dci as far as I'm aware
@@TheQashqaiGuy Thanks. Someone suggested me to change the battery. So I will change it next week and see the problem will solve or not.
Silly question, but does the engine need to be running when inserting the wire?
No, just try it for a while then start it up and see if air is escaping
@@TheQashqaiGuy ah OK. Thanks very much. Just had these alerts you mentioned popping up on my dashboard yesterday. I have a 14 plate Qashqai.
My girlfriend has a 2016 nissan rogue, and her chassis light is on. Do you think thaf could be it?
Just that? Maybe get the battery tested.
Anyone know s place in Manchester area where I can get this sorted for a reasonable price?
I've woke up this morning my and quashqui is showing the same problem plus a key system fault, but it won't start at all, doesn't even try to start do you think this will help get it running again? Thanks
I'd suggest getting the battery checked first of all
I might just replace the battery and then try your procedure and see if I have life in the quashqui again
@@tibz9123 Hey mate, i walked to my car this morning and the exact same problem. How did you solve it?
I had to get it toed to nissan in the end, it was the big fan at the front of the car under the bonnet that cools the engine, it was slowly nipping the wires for the main computer system.
@@tibz9123 my car is trying to start though, but i can’t start
No matter what I try I can't get the wire around the bend in the pipe. Spent hours trying using a drill etc
Is this only on Diesel vehicles I couldn’t find it on my Nissan my car is petrol?
Yes, the 1.5 dci only
@@TheQashqaiGuy Thanks M8 that’s cleared that up for me I just need to work out what going on with my car without a massive garage bill.
Thanks again I really appreciate it.
Hi ,nice video..do you have to clear codes with reader after cleaning pipe..thanks
Yes you do mate
Hi..cleared pipe but scanner cant find any fault codes,,,,but they are all still on,,,,,how did you cear yours ,,sorry to be a pain.
@@imnoexpert1736 hmmm, maybe a dodgy scanner? what lights on dash have you got on?
Same as you had,,chassis control,,stop start,,,braking system,,,same year quasqai as yours,,,did pipe clean same as you great vid by the way, then bought a scanner foxwell nt201, plug it in no codes found but all still on dash crazy frustrating,,,
Really strange. I can only think it's a code reader issue. Is it monitoring the car running OK? Definitely set up for your exact qashqai model?
I have the same problem with my car at the moment, unfortunately its already with Nissan dealer and they have already quoted me £600 to open up the engine. Its a 2015 plate and in 2017i had a similar problem but it was still under manufacturer warranty. I am worried about the end bill. What's your advice, my car has only done 34000 miles and just been fully paid for. I was hoping it w give me 4more years.
I'd follow my instructions in the video to test to see if air is coming out the pipe. If not fix as I say.
Nissan will charge you silly money even if they know the problem
@@TheQashqaiGuy They are saying there is loss of compression in cylinder number 3, hence they have to open it up to find out what the problem is.
Oh so it's likely the compression issue
I have a similar problem on my 2019 xtrail 1.6dci. Amongst these similar issues I am also experiencing oil pressure low error. It's intermittent and when it does come on, the car refuses to start. No swing at all. I have changed the battery. This evening when it refused to start there was like a humming noise coming from the engine bay whilst the car was off. Please advise
Is your problem solved?
@@ntangachristinme1973 yes turned out to be a defective bcm module
Hi Dan, I've got a 14 plate 1.2 petrol and I've got a warning triangle on and it doesn't seem to go into stop/start mode very often, very sporadic, could this be the same ,or maybe a new sensor, cheers love the video's, Terry.
Unlikely to be the same issue. If you can get a fault code reader and scan it should tell you what the issue is.
@@TheQashqaiGuy
Cheers for quick reply Dan, will look at euro car parts!!
Yeah i got mine from there, only about 15 quid
@@TheQashqaiGuy
Hi Dan, I've ordered the OBD code reader, any recommendations on rain deflectors for windows when raining??
Not got any myself yet. There's two types, one that goes into the window cut out and one that attaches above it. It's up to you which
I don't have access to that kind of wire, any other suggestions?
@@TheQashqaiGuy thanks Dan - working on it now, cheers for your response! I will send you an update 👍
Good luck! All I can say is persevere! And use the drill method.
Cheers Dan - thanks again for video it seems to have fixed my issue! Your right the drill method worked best - I used a slightly thinner bike gear cable + plastic tube to guide it down the hose which worked a treat! Thanks again 👍
Brill! Glad it helped.
This has just happened to me. I am 3 hours from home and was wondering if i have to take it straight in or would it be possible to drive it the 150 miles back?
It should be fine mate.
@@TheQashqaiGuy life saver! Thank you very much. Is it worth getting some different cleaner in then do the journey?
You could try a regen drive style to see if you can burn it off?
@@TheQashqaiGuy sorry whats a regen drive? Not the best with cars
No probs bud
It's when you purposefully make the engine run hot, so maybe on motorway at 70, leave it in 5th or even 4th for a few miles.
Give it a Google and I'm sure they'll be a good guide.
What on earth is 'Chassis control system'? I've never heard of that!
I tried this last night but it still seems that my alerts on the dash keep on coming on. The strange thing is the car is fine until I accelerate and raise my Ref counter then all the alerts come on for Start and Stop and Chassis control system fault. Is there anything else I can try?
So the pipe now has air coming out when running? If so maybe get the fault codes read and cleared.
my car xtrail t32 lot harder to work on , same fault, but i bet your EGR valve will need cleaning and intake manifold , i will try an oil catch can , and could be a fuse
Bonjour vous avez eu un voyant moteur rouge ?
Oui
Does this also apply for the 1.2 digt petrol engine one, i have an automatic and start stop function is faulting now. Had battery exchanged durring warranty , i can not believe battery is bad again. But who knows. Also i notice when cold engine revs are not stable like 100 150rpm going upp down but does not stall drives totaly OK, realy strange these shit problems. I bought nissan to not have shit problems but it seems there is sheete here to dammet.
I'm not aware of this fault on any other engine.
@@bt6joso i know noticed the same thing here aswell, so i hook it upp for charge every week once.
But i feel also the same way, i also have one BMW G30 and i know these cars are a world apart but i will go for one more BMW what ever model just because.
I bought Nissan for the Japanese quality but i we got one Chinese bad quality example.
@@bt6joso That's a shame. I do know that the 1.2 Dig-T is a pretty bad engine, one to be avoided.
i told the garage to do this but he said he did but wasnt fix. i think he did not do a proper job. im in birmingham. is there any way you can have a look at it off possible. I'm happy to reward you for your time if your not far away from birmingham. thanks.
my car was driving remarkable, suddenly this happened, i had done a full service. everything is up to date, i told the garage guy to have a look but he said your car need calibration and this can only be done by the dealer or a nissan expert. i dont know any experts in birmingham and the dealer is going to cost me at least 1000 pound. i cant afford that. please help any suggestions
I'm in Nottingham, bit of a distance. Have you attempted it yourself?
Hi I’m having an attempt on doing this on my wife’s cars.
How do you take the bracket off? What tool do you need?
Also what is the black thing you thread the bike break lead through?
Many thanks
The bracket is held on with a 10mm nut I think. I used a drill to clear it.
Iv been trying this for a hour now, can’t seem to get the lead down that bend, put it on a drill bit but the lead twists at the to… having a 5 minute break before I give it again again :0(
Persevere! You will get there I promise!
Please help me my Nissan pulsar 2017 is having a key system fault and all money been Spent at the Nisan local garage will no hope

What is the display saying? Have you had the battery changed in them? Will it turn over/start?
@@TheQashqaiGuy have done a lot and at the moment with the local garage that was just keep spending my money, error on dashboard is key system fault, press brake and push button

do you only run car after its cleaned?

unfortunately the cable snapped inside the pipe,Do you know is it a big deal to change the pipe
I think it's doable but it's hard to access without a ramp
how much do you think a garage would charge?
I'm really not sure, labour cost depends how confident they are to do the job. Part wise I have no idea of cost.
To feel the air, you have to start the engine I suppose?
Yes
Hi! I’m a big fan! Bought the interior lights you have suggested. I absolutely love it! Unfortunately, this happened to my qashqai yesterday. Hi! Just an update, i have removed the sensor and cleaned it. I heard a swoosh sound and black smoke came out when I turned on the car and gave it a rev. Do i need an obd to decode the dashboard lights? When i test drive the car, there’s still vibration when i put the gas on. Any ideas on how i can fix this?
